I would agree with the other reviews, this is a tourist trap. There were three of us there and we had the Crispy Chicken Teriyaki twice and the Tteokbokki once. Unfortunately, you definitely don't get the dish that is described on the menu. The fish cakes for the tteokbokki were not whole cakes like in the pictures, but just small overcooked pieces. Crispy Chicken supposedly comes with rice cakes and potato wedges as a side dish. The potato wedges were just normal fries and rice cakes were nowhere to be found. After we asked where the rice cakes were, he first said that they don't come with the crispy chicken. After we showed him that he was wrong on the menu, the waitress wanted to tell us that they were under the Crispy Chicken. However, when we couldn't find them, he said he would bring us some. When he came back from the kitchen he claimed that they were out. Unfortunately we can't imagine that! The waitresses also only speak very broken German and only a little better English. This made communication very difficult. The ordering system via QR code and cell phone is also very impersonal.

Mediocre food in a tourist trap - we were blinded by the positive reviews and had a very disappointing meal. We ordered the "Gangnam" platter, which came very quickly and was placed on the table without any comment. We only received side dishes after a friendly reminder from us. Short greeting or explanation of how the whole thing works with the table grill? Absolutely non-existent. The "side dish" consisted of 3-4 slices of zucchini and a mushroom. It was served with oil, salt and a spicy sauce. A bit lean overall. The mini side salads were also able to do this (carrot, beetroot & cucumber - a portion of one tablespoon each). Ambience? None. The meat quality was ok.

I was in the restaurant with a friend in May and we were thrilled with the visit - friendly, motivated waiters, delicious food and a great atmosphere. Today we were there and everything was different. The two waiters only spoke a few words of German, so even ordering the drinks was a parkour. The menu has also changed; the dishes we ordered back then were no longer available. If you don't want to order a complete Korean BBQ menu, you can choose between 3 types of chicken or 2 other main dishes. We all decided on fried chicken and it was either too dry or drowned in a marinade that was way too sweet and sticky. Unfortunately, the rice cakes listed on the menu were not included. But since we knew that the waiter wouldn't understand us, we didn't bother to ask. Our iced teas all arrived warm and the waiter didn't even ask if everything was OK or if we would like to drink something else. For a place that now offers almost exclusively Korean BBQ, the restaurant is poorly equipped with ventilation and extractor hoods, so a wedge had to be put in the front door, which was really not pleasant given the outside temperatures (and our table was right next to the door). . When we were paying, the waiter actively asked us about a tip and he was about to tip something on himself, which I was then able to prevent. Given the experience and the poor quality of the food, I didn't actually want to give anything and felt pressured by his action. Of course, when we went out we smelled of barbecue, including our clothes - all in all a disappointment, especially compared to our last visit. There are much better places in Cologne if you want delicious and authentic Korean food.

We were disappointed. We had the Korean BBQ. The lettuce leaves were soggy. The waiters never asked us if it tasted good or if we needed anything else, for example when we ran out of lettuce leaves or we ran out of spices. There were no sauces and the meat came from the freezer. Therefore everything tasted very bland. We had to ask several times for more drinks. Overall very disappointing and not authentic Korean BBQ. I wouldn't recommend

The food (Korean BBQ) was more than carelessly prepared. The vegetable plate consisted, among other things, of two half stalks of leek. However you should prepare it sensibly. Unfortunately, the meat wasn't really tasty (pancetta, for example, was thick and tough) and the side dishes were very few and a bit bland. The service was so-so. I was very disappointed with the cost I had. The Korean fried chicken was probably not bad.

We were there recently and I have to say it was terrible. The employees are overwhelmed and stressed. Korean BBQ is not worth it because the meat is not seasoned and there is no sauce. It just doesn't taste good and the price for so little meat isn't worth it. The only good thing was that we spontaneously got a table. Go somewhere else for the money :)

Our visit today was a complete disappointment! We ate there a year ago and we really enjoyed it and the food was delicious - especially the mixed portion of fried squid. Today instead we had the cheapest convenience frozen calamari with more breading than anything else. Chicken was OK, but the portion was significantly smaller than last time. The service is underground! In a Korean restaurant I expect at least some Korean staff and that if no one speaks Korean at least someone can speak some German or at least English. In English, only the order is taken and the same greeting and verse phrases are always used. No one could adequately answer our questions about the food and drinks. All in all, I have the feeling that you are trying to make as much profit as possible using as little goods as possible. But not with us! We will definitely not visit this restaurant again!

We ordered plated meals and also Korean BBQ. The dishes on the plate were all good and tasty. The Korean BBQ was completely disappointing. We had the version with rum steak. Meat was ok, but the fat edge could have been trimmed off beforehand. In addition to the meat, there were a few lettuce leaves as well as salt and some spice paste to season the meat. And some more oil and butter. For the price of €23 per person, it's pretty poor. Unfortunately there were no other side dishes, so we also ordered rice and kimchi. By the way, the kimchi is delicious. All in all, there is no reason for us to come here again. Service rather unremarkable.

Unfortunately, Gangnamstyle Korean BBQ in Cologne didn't convince us. We were looking forward to an authentic Korean experience, but were served with average dishes and an overall lackluster presentation. Although the restaurant is frequented by many Koreans, which usually indicates authenticity, the quality of the food left a lot to be desired. The Fried Chicken with Sweet Chili Sauce was good, but the Beef Bulgogi was disappointing - it was neither tender nor well marinated as we have seen in other restaurants. The supplements, which showed little effort and inferior quality, were particularly negative. The atmosphere wasn't inviting either: the ventilation is inadequate, so you smell strongly of BBQ after your visit. In addition, annoying details such as rags lying around, glass cleaner and the plastic spoon in the hotpot were not very appealing. The prices are too high for the quality offered. Anyone interested in Korean BBQ should keep this in mind. Overall, we would only conditionally recommend the restaurant.

The korean bbq is amazing, but the served side dishes are too little. The service can be improved because they are inattentive and very busy. It is often very hard to get the attention of the waiters and it takes a long time to order more food or pay.

However, that wasn't a problem for us Ambience: 》 Unfortunately only 3 stars here 》We were 13 people and had reserved well in advance 》 Nevertheless, we were squeezed into a corner and spread over 1 large and 1 small table... that wasn't in the spirit of having a Christmas dinner together. There was no other option... however, other large groups sat together. All in all, we would go there again.

Not quite the quality I expect when reading its google rating. We order Menu 1 pork belly bbq for 2. The meat was not the right cutting or quality, it doesn’t taste as i expected as in other korean bbq I have tried. We visited in December when outside temperature is quite cold and windy, the restaurant open window and front door which created quite some draft and not comfortable sitting in. Lettuce that we got has quite a bot of small pieces which make it not easy to wrap the meat. Too high expectation in google rating, but unfortunately we are disappointed.

I really enjoy coming here. Food is always delicious. Portions are large and filling. Highly recommended! December 2024 addition: Were here again after almost 6 months and it seems the owner has changed and unfortunately that is very noticeable. Some of the waiters can neither speak German nor English properly, which makes communication much more difficult. The usual chicken combinations are no longer available. You can only choose half Original Chicken and the other half Sweet Chili, Teriyaki Mayo or Garlic. This means that combinations like Sweet Chili and Teriyaki Mayo are probably not possible. The only other option is to take a plate with only one type. Tteobokki also came without vegetable tempura even though this was ordered and only after a long discussion did the manager offer to bring us shrimp instead. The tempura weren't that important, the only thing that mattered to us was that the service was very stressful because of the language barrier and it wasn't clearly communicated to us from the start that there were no vegetable tempura. According to the manager, Tteobokki will probably be abolished next year, which I think is a shame. In summary, it's just very disappointing because I actually really enjoyed eating here and the service was really good. I don't think I'll come again after such an unpleasant experience.

Ate Gangnamstyle for the first time with four friends and it was a very positive experience. The food was tasty and of good quality and the service was very attentive, friendly and relatively quick, even though it was busy. Gladly again! :)

When I was in this restaurant for the first time last year, I was very impressed. This time, however, that opinion has changed drastically. We reserved a table in advance. When we came to the store, however, no one was interested. Okay - there wasn't much going on at the time, so I can excuse that. Then we sat at a table where the chairs were wobbly. However, we were still able to move around. The first rude awakening came when I ordered. We were given little advice about the “ingredients” of Korean BBQ. What also unsettled us was the way the menu was written. By “extra side dishes” I understand that you get them extra and/or can reorder them. To our surprise, there were simply no included side dishes - so all the side dishes were extra. That felt very much like a rip-off. When our extra salad arrived for €2 it was just 4 lettuce leaves. Unfortunately, we only noticed it after we ate the salad, but the plastic basket in which these leaves were located was dirty on the inside. You could see real dark deposits at the edges. However, the dirt didn't even stop there. The leeks we had in our vegetable basket (which we had to pay extra for) were still dirty. When trying to return the leeks, we also addressed the issue with the basket. The completely overwhelmed waiter came back a short time later - with the dirty basket and leeks - and wanted to tell us that the leeks were just pepper. (It wasn't pepper, it was dirt) He didn't even bother with the dirty basket. Unfortunately the meat was also a disappointment. Too greasy and too gristly. In the meantime, new guests also sat down at a table next to us and assumed that the option of “extra rice”, for example, meant that it could be ordered in addition to or after. There are buttons on the tables that you can press to get the staff's attention. The buttons are “Call”, “pay” and “cancel”. However, if you press the “pay” button you will be looked at in shock and pointed out that you should pay up front. The only good thing about the visit was the kimchi. But other than that we couldn't find any positive words for this restaurant today. The price-performance ratio is absolutely not right. It's a rip off and the staff is disinterested. It's a shame how much this restaurant has deteriorated in a year.

Juice shop. I have never visited a restaurant that better describes this expression. When we came in, we were told by hand signals where to sit. Hardly any space to sit down comfortably, wallpaper attached with adhesive tape. Service was non-existent and when the employees took pity on coming to the table, there was not a word of a greeting to speak of here. We ordered via the QR code and waited. After about 20 minutes, a waitress came to our table and informed us (in “English”) that at a Korean BBQ you MUST order at least two portions of meat. We were not informed in advance that such a regulation existed. We asked if we could cancel a dish we ordered and were simply told no, everything was already ready. The food then came to the table without showing us how to turn on the grill. He then simply left without any other information, in any case you couldn't order using the QR code. We tried to clarify the matter, but were simply told "we're closing now anyway" 30 minutes before closing time. From here on things were tidied up and cleaned around us, which gave the feeling that we should leave then. There was also loud discussion about the situation at the bar. We pressed the pay button on the table, which elicited no response. When we asked that we wanted to pay, the answer was “front”. All in all a sad experience and not recommended. If you're looking for a nice evening, you won't find it here.

Unfortunately, my visit to this Korean restaurant did not live up to my expectations. As soon as we entered the restaurant we were shown to our table with an impersonal gesture. The furnishings appeared unkempt, loose wallpaper was poorly fixed with adhesive tape. This restaurant gave me the impression that it employs unqualified people. In the future, I will prefer restaurants like "Gogi Matcha", which impresses with authentic Korean food and professional, German-speaking staff. There I have the feeling that the owner values ​​qualified employees and not "illegal import employees" who work below the minimum wage. The service also left a lot to be desired. Communication with the staff was difficult because hardly any of the employees spoke German. There was no greeting. We ordered using the QR code provided. After waiting for 20 minutes, we were informed that Korean BBQ requires a minimum of two servings of meat per order. Unfortunately, this information was missing from both the menu and the QR code menu. When we asked whether a cancellation was possible, this was answered in the negative without any further explanation. The food was served without us being told how to use the grill. It was not possible to place another order using the QR code. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to my expectations of authentic Korean cuisine either. When we tried to clarify the situation, we were told that the restaurant was closing in 30 minutes. Immediately afterwards, the staff began cleaning up, which gave us the impression that we should leave the restaurant. Our situation was also discussed loudly at the bar. The attempt to pay the bill using the pay button at the table was unsuccessful. When we asked, we were simply directed to the checkout. Overall, visiting this restaurant was a disappointing experience. The lack of service quality, lack of communication, unprofessional handling of the situation and non-authentic food made us feel unwelcome.

Food is good but they only serve mainstream Korean dishes. The staff is pretty unresponsive and the waiting times can be very long. You have to order using a smartphone by scanning a qr code. The dishes often are not served simultaneously and sometimes items are missing. The atmosphere is ok but it can be a little bit loud and warm/smelly due to all the barbecues.

We were expecting more honestly, the prices are not expensive and the food is not bad but it’s not the best or authentic Korean neither (I lived in Korea for years), the costumer service is not great, only one guy was nice and trying to help us to order and etc, the food took so long, more than 40min and I think it was too much time when we even reserved our spots and everything but anyways, it’s not bad overall but has to improve some things that’s why I rated it with 3 stars

Menus front side smeared and tables partly greasy, chairs partly full of crumbs, toilet sink mirror full of splatters, older stains and around it and floor I think it's a no go for a restaurant of this size and location. Rice lukewarm, other dishes ok. Where all the 5 star reviews come from (tens of them are all 12 hours old) is a mystery to me. Staff don't say a word too much. Both when entering the restaurant and also at the end when leaving. At the neighboring table the guest spoke English, but there were no staff in the restaurant who could understand the guest. We smell partially translated......... I "don't" have to go there again, the positive thing was that the staff was always at the table immediately when we pressed the button. We order directly at the table online or via the service button (a kind of bell) via an employee.

I ordered honey garlic barbecue and Kölsch beer, and it was delicious. I really missed chicken and beer while I was in Germany, and I enjoyed it. I think it was a good idea to come! I also had makgeolli and a hot dog, and it was seriously delicious! The staff were also very friendly..! I was even more grateful because it's hard to find kindness in Germany that doesn't ask for tips. Oh, and it was my first time seeing a bell on the table since I came to Germany. It was convenient because you could also order with a QR code. Oh and! The bathroom is really clean. So I liked it more.

Probably the worst restaurant in all of Germany. The furnishings may be modern, but they don't remind you at all of Korea. Some of the lettering has been hung upside down. The staff is not trained. The food is acceptable but has nothing to do with Korean. The processes are a joke, I get better advice from Burger King. After a certain time only cash was accepted. When we refused, we were allowed to pay by card... run as fast as you can otherwise you will be forced to give a 5 star rating on Google. Do us all a favor and close the store

Wir wurden satt und geschmacklich war das Essen ok. Das sind die guten Seiten am Gangnamstyle Restaurant. Das Beef Bulgogi können wir aber dennoch nicht empfehlen, weil die Fleischstücke darin so groß waren, dass man sie kaum halten und davon essen konnte. Dazu winzige Schälchen und Tellerchen, die Reisschale beispielsweise nur etwas halb so groß als sonst in koreanischen Restaurants üblich. Der Service dazu gemischt von entgegenkommend bis pampig, das Ambiente irgendwas zwischen angegrabbelt und heruntergekommen. Fazit: Wenn wir mal wieder hungrig und in der Nähe sind, werden wir wohl in einem der vielen anderen Restaurants im Umkreis essen.

After this was complained about, we received a slightly better table. Unfriendly, disinterested and untrained service throughout the entire stay. For the price, the food is way, way too expensive! No comparison to the Bulgogi House, which is unfortunately closed. Been here for the first and last time! One can only be surprised at the supposedly many positive reviews…

Unfortunately we were disappointed. We were really looking forward to Korean BBQ. The meat was good BUT... There were no knives, so cut the vegetables and the rest into bite-sized pieces instead of serving half a leek. The service was terrible... it wasn't cleared away, no questions were asked, it took forever to reorder and we had to ask twice where the rice was. The "spices" for the meat... Well a spoonful of oil, fat (? I think it was fat, it wasn't explained), salt and hot sauce... I didn't think it was that nice. The little things about it were really measly. Well, I can't recommend BBQ, maybe the prepared things... It's a shame, it really has potential and could be so beautiful with some attention and refinements.

Make sure you double check your order when you get it. Even though you order digitally at the table they get it wrong very often. Our order was incorrect twice and they messed up the order for the table behind us in the 1 hr we spent there. We did Korean BBQ. Cook on your table. Pretty expensive for what you get 23- 28€ for 4 bite sizes slices of meat (200 grams total). If you are even moderately hungry and want to be full off this meal be prepared to put down some coin. Excessively overcooked rice for €2 a bowl. Korean Fried Chicken is absolutely below average compared to the other offerings in Cologne. Korean BBQ experience on the other hand was "okay". Didn't have a friendly service experience with the head waiter/usher who seemed slightly overwhelmed on Saturday evening, October 26th. Given the prices quoted, the price/performance ratio has to be right, especially when it comes to taste, which is unfortunately not the case here.

For me, I didn’t really like the dish I ordered, it tasted strange, the sauce was too salty but my husband ordered the pork belly soup and he loved it so much. So I wouldn’t recommend the tteboki dish, order something else lol but overall, not a bad experience. The atmosphere and decoration were really nice and the staff were helpful explaining things for us.

The food and service were incredibly bad. I don't even know where to start. There were seven of us in the restaurant. Even the reception was difficult because there was a language barrier. Alright, let's switch to English. However, that worked rather poorly than well. Our table on the upper floor had nothing in common with the ambience on the lower floor. It was very uncomfortable and you were stuck to the floor. We then placed the order online. So far so good. The food came and was presented to you without comment. Difficult when all the dishes look the same because of the sauce. Unfortunately, there was no “aha” moment in terms of taste. It was just greasy and gross. Unfortunately none of us enjoyed it. Although we all really enjoy eating Asian food. It had nothing in common with Korean cuisine. After we finally managed to pay, we left the restaurant disappointed. Absolutely not recommended!

I have been a loyal customer of this restaurant for over a year, visiting more than 20 times in 2024 alone. However, my recent experience was extremely disappointing. I ordered two different types of meat, expecting the usual 400g portion, but the amount served was far less than anticipated. Having dined here frequently, I know what a proper 200g serving looks like, yet when I raised the issue, the staff insisted that the plate contained 400g. While I understand that the wait staff may not be responsible for kitchen decisions, their dismissive attitude and lack of concern were disheartening. Additionally, the restaurant previously offered complimentary refills of vegetables, but this time, only a small basket of lettuce was provided, and I was charged €2 for it. It’s clear that attempts to cut costs are being made, but reducing the meat portions and introducing unexpected charges takes away from the value and experience I once loved about this place. I hope the management considers this feedback and uses it as an opportunity to make improvements.

Very unfriendly and completely uninterested service, BBQ incomplete, food just mediocre and served like it was sloppy, cutlery was missing, music was way too loud, overpriced.

Unfortunately, my visit to Gangnamstyle in Cologne disappointed me on many levels, and I definitely won't eat there a second time. The service was chaotic and overwhelmed. The waiters seemed stressed, which led to long wait times and made the overall experience unpleasant. It seemed like the staff simply wasn't able to handle the crowds. I was particularly dissatisfied with the portion sizes. The taste of the food was okay, but the portions were so small that you felt like you weren't getting full value for your money. I would have expected much more for the prices. After the meal I was left with the feeling that I wasn't really valued here. The most questionable moment came at the end: we were offered a piece of Korean chocolate cake, obviously as a thank you for a good review. But the cake was tiny, and the gesture felt less like a nice touch and more like a blunt bribe to avoid criticism. It was clear that the restaurant was aware of the poor service and small portions and tried to compensate by offering free extras - but in an unpleasant way. All in all the visit was disappointing. A restaurant should impress through quality and service, not through attempts to “bribe” and appease guests with free cake. I will not visit Gangnamstyle again.
