Gandhi in Hamburg

Ich war am letzten Freitag mit einem Schulkamerad da - für mich war es der 2. Besuch, für meinen Freund der 1. Wir waren sehr angetan. Wir kamen uns vor wie in einem 5-Sterne-Hotel - tolles, stilvolles Ambiente. Dazu ein sehr aufmerksamer, freundlicher Service, den man woanders kaum noch gewohnt ist. Ich sage das als echte Hamburgerin, die viele kulinarische Vergleiche kennt. Es sind die Kleinigkeiten, die es am Ende zu so einem schönen Erlebnis gemacht haben: auf vorgewärmten Tellern ein leckeres Essen, danach ein Cappuchino, der groß und intensiv war statt wie sonst oft fast nur aus Milchschaum besteht. Vor allem war es wunderbar, sich gut unterhalten zu können. Kein Lärm, sondern eine gewünschte Ruhe, die ganz im Gegensatz zu den Baustellen rund um den Eppendorfer Marktplatz einfach gut tat. Auch die anderen Gäste waren - wie ich hörte - begeistert. Vielen Dank und bis zum nächsten Mal! PS. Einziges Manko war die (zum Glück leise) dudelige Hintergrundmusik, die nicht ins Ambiente passte. Der Mitarbeiter sagte, er wechselt immer ganz spontan. Da hatten wir wohl ein bisschen Pech gehabt. Sonst alles toll!

An sich war die Hauptspeise lecker, aber für 3-4 scheiben gurke 3 eisbergsalst Scheiben und 2 Scheiben Karotten und etwas rote beete, alles in 5 bissen weg, 14 euro ist schon heftig, das sah alles aus wie Dekoration aus als ein gemischter Salat. Für 14 euro Salat erwartet man etwas mehr, auch wenn es ein gehobene Küche sein soll. Ich dachte, dass wäre nur Dekoration zur Vorspeise und Salat würde später zur Hauptspeise kommen. Aber das links aufm Bild war einfach 14 euro. Ohne die Samosa versteht sich.

Das indische Restaurant ist recht gut, aber etwas überteuert. Die Speisekarte von Mittags gleicht das zwar etwas aus, aber alle Mittagsgerichte basierten scheinbar auf demselben Curry. Etwas Abwechslung wäre wünschenswert gewesen, selbst bei einem reduzierten Preis. Unser Kellner war sehr freundlich, brachte Wasser für den Hund und war insgesamt sehr angenehm. Die Suppe war hervorragend, ein wirklich besonderes Gericht. Ansonsten bietet das Restaurant typisch indische Küche (nur Mittagskarte). Die Einrichtung ist ansprechend.

Ein rundum fantastischer Restaurantbesuch. Das Essen war großartig, aber was wirklich heraussticht, ist die echte und nicht aufgesetzte Gastfreundschaft. Ein feiner Gruß aus der Küche, super aufmerksamer Service, zum Schluss eine kleine Aufmerksamkeit und ein Absacker haben den Abend abgerundet. Freuen uns schon auf das nächste Mal.

Man kam an und das Ambiente war toll . Bedienung war freundlich, aber man merkte das es aufgesetzt war. Ich fühlte mich die ganze Zeit, fehl am Platz . Wir waren glaube ich nicht die Zielgruppe. Das Essen hat sehr gut geschmeckt, man braucht aber Zeit.

Ich habe bei Gandhi Murgha Machan mit extra Knoblauch Naan und extra Mix Aschar bestellt, dazu laut Bestellung eine Sprite 1L für 4,50 €. Geliefert wurde allerdings nur eine 0,33L-Flasche. Als ich deshalb beim Restaurant angerufen habe, wurde ich direkt unfreundlich behandelt und erstmal angemacht, ich solle „richtig gucken“, bevor ich anrufe. Ich habe dann ruhig erklärt, dass sowohl auf Restablo als auch in meiner Bestellbestätigung eindeutig 1 Liter angegeben war. Daraufhin wurde ich angeschrien und mir vorgeworfen, ich sei unfreundlich und würde schreien, obwohl ich einfach nur klarstellen wollte, dass ich mich auf die Angaben auf der Website beziehe. Die 4,50 € wurden mir inzwischen von Restablo zurückerstattet. Trotzdem bleibt der sehr unangenehme Umgangston am Telefon in Erinnerung. Fehler können passieren, aber wie man mit Kunden umgeht, macht am Ende den Unterschied. Für mich leider das letzte Mal dort bestellt. Bevor man mir noch irgendwelche Lügen oder so bezichtigt, hänge ich der Rezension ein Screenshot der Bestellbestätigung an.

Es ist mit Abstand das eleganteste indische Restaurant der Stadt und vereint ein schickes, stilvolles Ambiente mit authentischer Küche. Vom ersten Moment unserer Ankunft an war der Gastgeber unglaublich freundlich, zuvorkommend und aufmerksam, sodass wir uns sofort wohlfühlten. Der Service war durchweg aufmerksam, ohne aufdringlich zu sein, was den ganzen Abend noch angenehmer machte. Das Essen war sehr schmackhaft und offensichtlich mit Sorgfalt und Authentizität zubereitet. Es ist selten, ein Restaurant zu finden, das ein so raffiniertes Ambiente mit so ehrlicher, traditioneller indischer Küche verbindet. Absolut empfehlenswert für alle, die authentische indische Küche in einem schönen, gehobenen Ambiente suchen. Wir kommen ganz bestimmt wieder.

Wir waren mit der Familie im Gandhi essen – und es war wirklich alles alles perfekt! Gehoben indische Küche auf höchstem Niveau. Das Restaurant ist ein verborgener Kleinod auf der Eppendorf abgewandten Seite. Der Gastronom nimmt sein Angebot quasi als Mission, dieser Anspruch wird streng gehütet, zum vielfachen Vorteil der Gäste. Sehr guter Service, sehr gute Küche, wunderbares Ambiente, alles mit Stil und Liebe zum Detail. Gastronomie, wie man sie sich wünscht und bei fast allen indischen Restaurants in dieser Güte vermisst. Vegetarische, vegane und glutenfreie Gerichte. Ein Genuß, im Verhältnis unbedingt preiswert, nicht billig. English spoken.

Wir waren zu dritt im Gandhi Restaurant. Die Location ist wirklich wunderschön, sehr stilvoll und gemütlich. Der Service war hervorragend – sehr freundlich, aufmerksam und zuvorkommend. Besonders schön fanden wir die Rose am Ende❤️ Chef war super super net und sowas haben wir selten erlebt. Zum Essen: Gruß aus die Küche war lecker,Danke ❤️ Die Delhi Shorts suppe war eher geschmacklich schwach und nichts Besonderes. Die Samondari Shorba-Suppe hingegen war sehr lecker. Als Hauptgerichte hatten wir u. a. Panjabi Tikka Tandoori – das war geschmacklich zu dominant und nicht unser Fall. Das vegetarische Gericht mit Mango ( Malai Kofta Mango)war okay, aber für die gehobenen Preise nicht überzeugend. Das Murgha Chili Vidalo war ebenfalls in Ordnung, aber nichts Besonderes. Insgesamt: Service und Ambiente top – wirklich einmalig. Beim Essen haben wir für diese Preisklasse schon deutlich bessere Qualität erlebt. Trotzdem vielen Dank für den schönen Abend.

Wir hatten gestern wieder einen sehr schönen Abend im Restaurant Gandhi mit seinen feinen Gerichten und dem besonders netten Inhaber!

Authentisch. Hervorragender Service. Sehr zu empfehlen.

Das Restaurant war wirklich eine sehr positive Überraschung. Der Service war ausgesprochen freundlich, aufmerksam und herzlich, man hat sich sofort willkommen gefühlt. Vom willkommensgriss aus der Küche bis zum Limoncello zum Abgang Das Essen war hervorragend: frisch zubereitet, sehr aromatisch und wunderbar gewürzt. Man merkt, dass hier mit guten Zutaten und viel Sorgfalt gekocht wird. Auch die Atmosphäre im Restaurant war super angenehm und entspannt. Insgesamt ein rundum gelungener Besuch – ich komme sehr gerne wieder und kann das Restaurant absolut empfehlen.

Indisches Spezialitäten, Restaurant mit gehobener Küche, toller Service, sehr leckeres Essen das seinen Preis wert ist . Lasst euch nicht von den Fotos des alten Eingangs (das Restaurant ist vor ein paar Jahren umgezogen) auf der Website irritieren. Im Gastraum ist es komplett anders. Es ist das beste indische Essen, was ich in Hamburg je gegessen habe.

Das Essen war ausgesprochen gut, die Gewürze wunderbar rauszuschmecken und auch die Mengen entsprechen dem Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Wie in der Speisekarte online bereits zu sehen war, gibt es auch mehrere vegetarische und vegane Gerichte. Die Bedienung war sehr aufmerksam ohne aufdringlich zu sein. Wir waren sonntags am späten Nachmittag da und hatten ohne Reservierung keine Probleme einen Tisch zu bekommen. Da rund um das Lokal Baustellen sind und die Parkplatzsuche eher schwierig ist, haben wir in einer Tiefgarage in der Nähe geparkt.

Wir hatten einen sehr schönen, leckeren Abend im Ghandi. Der Service ist top und absolut zugewandt (am Ende gab es einen Mandellikör aufs Haus und sogar eine schöne Rose zum Mitnehmen). Das Essen war fantastisch - von einer sehr guten Vorspeise aufs Haus über köstliche vegetarische/vegane Hauptspeisen bis hin zum leckeren Naan mit Jogurt-Chutney. Wirklich sehr empfehlenswert!

Leckeres Essen aber die Preis-Leistung geht gar nicht. 25€+ für ein kleines Masala ist einfach zu viel. Da kriegt man bei den meisten Indern mehr für sein Geld.

Der Gastgeber war äußerst zuvorkommend. Obwohl wir keine Reservierung hatten, wurden wir herzlich empfangen und unsere Jacken wurden uns abgenommen. Die Location und das Essen verdienen eine Bewertung von 10/10. Es wird großer Wert auf Sauberkeit, Kundenzufriedenheit und eine ansprechende Präsentation gelegt. Die Zutaten waren frisch und das Essen wurde warm serviert, was heutzutage nicht immer selbstverständlich ist. Am Ende erhielten wir eine Rose und einen Absacker auf Kosten des Hauses, was sehr zufriedenstellend war.

The food is far too expensive and below average for Indian cuisine. We were there around Christmas time and the service was extremely unfriendly and the portions were small. It's not worth it.

Excellent! We were in Hamburg for a long weekend. Before going to the theater, we stumbled upon this restaurant by chance. From beginning to end: outstanding! Nevertheless, we're sad. Unfortunately, there's nothing comparable in Dortmund, our hometown. BUT, we'll gladly come back!!

Exciting spices – the delicious naan bread alone is wonderfully seasoned (Sada Nam) and served warm. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, and I will definitely be back. I usually just order takeout – which I also highly recommend.

An upscale atmosphere with soft music and delicious Indian food. We were greeted with a small amuse-bouche and after the meal, a shot of liquor and a rose for the lady. Overall, well worth a visit. The only slight drawback was that the rice portion for two people could have been a bit larger. I would recommend ordering an extra portion, but that's nothing that can't be easily remedied.

The restaurant is especially cozy and inviting during the Christmas season. The service is outstanding; if anyone knows how to run a restaurant, it's the owner. We learned about Gandhi through an article in the Abendblatt newspaper, and the tranquility and the emphasis on taking our time are truly embodied here. Dining out here is more than just a meal; it's a way of life. The food is lovingly prepared and absolutely delicious. The daily special with the pistachio coconut sauce is particularly unbeatable. The sauce is unique and highly recommended. We will definitely be back.

If you are looking for a rare Gem with exquisite Indian food then you should definately visit this restaurant. The moment you step in you will experience a warm and relaxing feeling which is a start of a beautiful culinary evening with Indian food & pairing wines that you have never experienced before. Just ask if you want traditional food..the home made aloo paratha with yoghurt, onion, chutney and chill will guaranteed bring you back home..simple but delicious. The BEST hospitality!! Will come back..and again.

We spontaneously went to "Gandhi" without a reservation, and we were short on time. They had a free table and were considerate of the next booking. We didn't order a set menu, just a main course. Both dishes were fantastic. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. We'll be back soon, next time with plenty of time and a desire for new culinary experiences.

I was here today with friends and I'm absolutely thrilled!! We're big fans of India and have been here several times before, and we love the Indian cuisine and Gandhi! The ambiance, the atmosphere, the background music... and the food!! It was so delicious, beautifully presented, flavorful, and authentic!! The prices were perfectly reasonable. There are restaurants in Hamburg that are completely overpriced and taste like nothing! Not at Gandhi—it was fantastic. And what we really appreciate is the owner with his genuinely kind and attentive manner; he checks in and takes care of his guests! We highly recommend this restaurant because it truly embodies a piece of India! Thank you for a wonderful evening!

Exquisite Indian cuisine and outstanding service. We came here on a recommendation and had an unforgettable evening. From the appetizer to the main course and dessert, everything tasted absolutely fantastic. We enjoyed an excellent meal and felt incredibly welcome. If you're unsure what to order, simply rely on the recommendations of the friendly chef. One thing is certain: everything is fresh and delicious.

A fantastic experience, we'd love to come back again! We've been there several times now, this was our second time at the new restaurant, and it's simply wonderful. The people who work there are lovely, and you feel so welcome <3

How delicious was that?! We ate at Gandhi before an event at Alma Hoppe. The food was fantastic, very authentic, and wonderfully seasoned. The sauces were especially divine. We had lamb and salmon. Both were of excellent quality and prepared perfectly. Amuse-bouche and grappa afterward were included. Service: The owner himself served us. Genuine, warm hospitality—top-notch. It was our first time there, and he made us feel like we'd known each other for ages. Wonderful! 😍

The "fine Indian cuisine" (as they describe it) thrives on the passionate owner, who has a remarkable ability to invite guests to escape the everyday hustle and bustle of Hamburg. It's certainly not inexpensive, but worth every penny. Take your time, let them guide you, and savor this special atmosphere. Highly recommended.

The interior is very nicely and stylishly furnished, and the noise level is pleasant enough for easy conversation. The amuse-bouche was delicious. The main course, Chili Kofta Curry, was, apart from the spiciness, unfortunately very bland and one-dimensional. The rice is seasoned and served with pomegranate seeds and raisins, but even upon request, it was unfortunately not possible to get a portion of plain, unseasoned rice. Since this very simple request was denied, we refrained from making any further changes or comments. At such high prices, I would have expected more attentive service. The garlic naan was spread with a somewhat artificial-tasting garlic cream instead of fresh garlic and oil, and unfortunately, it didn't impress us. Card payment was not possible. We didn't feel comfortable, were not impressed with the service or the food, and therefore will not be returning.

After decades away, I've finally revisited my old stomping grounds in Eppendorf. Most of my old favorite pubs, bars, and restaurants are gone. A quick internet search led me to Gandhi. Bullseye! A lovely atmosphere, a very friendly welcome. And then, because it was lunchtime, they served a super delicious three-course meal for a very reasonable price. And the best part: my lady even got a rose! It couldn't be better – 110 out of 100 points. We'll be back, but hopefully not for another 50 years! :-) Thanks!

I went there for dinner with my friends yesterday, and it was simply wonderful from start to finish. The food was incredibly delicious, super fresh, and beautifully presented. Everything is made with so much love, and you can tell immediately. The owner is incredibly friendly and made it an unforgettable experience. I was even allowed to bring my dog, who was given water right away without me having to ask. At the end, we each even received a rose! 😍 I'll definitely be back soon and highly recommend trying Gandhi!

If I could, I'd give it 6 stars. The food was amazing. The hospitality was so wonderful, I haven't experienced anything like it in a long time. If you want a great meal out, this is the place to go!

Very attentive service with excellent cuisine! The amuse-bouche was very creative, featuring a wild herb salad and samosa. I even received a rose 🌹 as I left, and my husband and I were given a digestif.

Delicious Indian food. I love this place, and their new location since moving a year or so ago is very beautiful. It was my first time visiting at the new location, and the experience was just as lovely. I always appreciate the lunch menu which comes with a small soup and desert. Great value abd always a great experience. Looking forward to going again soon.

Fine dining Indian cuisine! The food is simply amazing and the whole experience is unforgettable. The service is simply at the highest possible standards. I had a lamb dish and gulab jamun desert. Both were perfect.

Wow! A truly fantastic restaurant. From the welcome (they took our jackets), to the spontaneous small appetizer that was on the house, to the magnificently delicious main course, to the end (we were even given a rose), it was perfect! The owner is very personable and the food was absolutely delicious. The portions were not too small, not too large, just enough to fill you up without feeling overstuffed. I will definitely be back! Attached is a picture of Menu No. 43: Nawabi Biryani and the appetizer (Indian potato salad with beetroot).

Upscale, very fine Indian cuisine with excellent service in a beautiful ambiance. The spices are so finely balanced; we have rarely eaten so well. The excellent separate wine list leaves little to be desired. The 2024/2025 awards are well deserved. We enjoyed a lovely evening at this wonderful restaurant with our guests from Lower Saxony, and everyone was thrilled! We definitely recommend it; we would love to return. We were lucky – we managed to get a table for two without a reservation, on a Friday evening! The reception was very friendly and welcoming. My friend, who lived in India for a few years, praised the food as very authentic. I found the service to be excellent all around; almost affectionate ;-) As I left – where I met Mukhwa – I felt like I'd been here at least once a week for the past few years. It definitely won't be the last time I come here!

We visited Ghandi for the second time on Sunday and were absolutely thrilled again! The food, its preparation, and the service were exceptional every time! We'll be back!

I had a very bad experience with the food ordered, it had no flavor or spices, the vegetables werent cooked correctly and even the service after complaining was not satisfactory as Lieferando and Gandhi kept blaming each other. My old review was 'falsely' reported for defaming, so I review again to ask 'desis' and German friends to save their time, effort and money with this restaurant!

The food came quickly, but unfortunately, there was no "wow factor" for me. I found the offer very inviting; perhaps I was just unlucky. Mistakes happen.
