We found the atmosphere unusual but actually very chic for a meal for two. The food was without exception delicious and had a nice flavor pairing. If you don't decide on the menu, you should have the concept of sharing explained to you beforehand. Otherwise you sometimes have to wait a long time for the next meal. That wasn't quite as nice. Even if you order, guests who come in long after you get the same dish first. You have to like it. For anti-alcoholics the choice is also rather limited. Still a recommendation because you rarely get such creative dishes. Please ask the service: if hollandaise is on the menu and you get blue mold hollandaise, you should let us know in advance.

A very great experience at Funky MrSalvador. Delicious wines, very creative, high quality food. The whole restaurant is kept nice and dark. Our tables, which are also black, but made of metal, lead to a small deduction. Without a tablecloth it doesn't feel like it fits in with the rest of the restaurant. The drinks leave water marks on the table, which were constantly visible while eating.

Great evening - perfect date location We had a great evening at Funky Mr Salvador. It was already my second visit. The first time in spring inside the guest room, this time in the outdoor area/summer garden. Ambience: both perfect date locations in their own right. Inside very reduced, helps to focus on the food and what is opposite, outside the summer garden, very tastefully decorated. The plants around the outside create a small city oasis. Food: extraordinary small dishes with that special something - for example the hollandaise with blue mold, or the dessert with the extra umami kick of bitter, sour, sweet, salty. The card Either to share, for the FOMO group or as a surprise menu. Both great. The great wine advice tops it all off. Particularly noteworthy is the extremely friendly and approachable service. Many thanks to Duran and team, you were wonderful hosts. We'll be back ☺️

A great place for people who like to experience and talk about food. Staff was very enthusiastic about the dishes and shared impressions with us. Obviously the staff and kitchen staff care deeply about taste. Wine recommendations were spot on. Everything was very fresh and from as nearby as possible. Definitely want to go again in autumn or winter to try a different menu.

No recommendation! My visit was a year and a half ago, but that doesn't change the impression I was left with - after an extremely expensive birthday dinner: an almost unsympathetic host, a mixture of arrogant and not really in the mood. An ambience that is not appropriate for the prices and self-portrayal. Above all and most importantly: out of 8 dishes ordered, not even half were convincing and not filling (2/person). Not funky at all.

Light and shadow, I think, describes it very well if you have spent an evening at Funky Mr. Salvador. It starts out shady in the completely dark entrance area. You almost think you've landed in a Speak Easy Bar - mysterious and hidden. The service is friendly and leads into the equally dimly lit small dining room. The menu sounds very good at first, most people will probably choose the surprise menu with 4 courses (amuse gueule, bread, 3 dishes, 1 dessert) on a first visit. So do we. The drinks menu surprises with its lack of breadth and - sorry - ridiculous offerings for people who don't drink alcohol. A glass three quarters full of ice and water, plus a splash of non-alcoholic aperitif from Lidl - bang - eleven euros. And otherwise? Water or coffee. We have already had a non-alcoholic wine accompaniment made from juices in restaurants of a similar class. And that the 12 euro Negroni in the glass later was maybe 100ml, okay. Anyway, let's let the palate games begin - we're going to "eat" and not "drink". The greeting from the kitchen, a small fish cake with crunch, really tasty. Really made me want it: crispy, juicy on the inside, fishy, great. The purchased sourdough bread with clover butter that was served afterwards was also very good, even if the butter could have had more oomph. Unfortunately there are no small plates with bread. My companion had fun collecting little piles of crumbs on the table. So you can also get creative as a guest. The first dish, grass-fed beef tartare, was pleasant, the buttermilk sauce with French chili was fine. In my memory, the wild herb salad that came with it consisted exclusively of rocket, but I'm no longer sure. The second dish, green asparagus with oats, nuts and - completely new to us - lardo, a very fatty Italian bacon, was really a delight. Balanced in taste, lukewarm, a really nice dish (light). If it weren't so tiny (shadow). Suddenly I understood why the waiter initially said that if you order a la carte, you should order up to four "dishes" per person. Dish No. 3 surprised us with the most expensive dish on the menu. The back of Hessian Maibock with asparagus and white sweet potato was nice, the meat was well cooked and tender, but unfortunately the entire dish ended up being a little too acidic. At least it remained slightly unpleasant in the mouth. The dessert, an ice cream with cucumber, dill and meringue, was a surprise at all the tables. I liked it, my companion didn't like it at all. Maybe it's supposed to be polarizing, at least it is at the tables around us. In the end I left the restaurant a good 200 euros poorer and unfortunately not really full - maybe that's a good thing, as my stomach increases with age. I fluctuate between 3 and 4 stars, I don't want to be unfair. But ultimately it's the drink menu and its pricing that makes me choose the lower value here. Most of the dishes are either too small or not balanced enough for Funky Mr. Salvador's own standards. Light and shadow. If you only drink alcohol and don't care about money, you are welcome to order 4-5 dishes for yourself, explore the taste highlights for yourself and are sure to have a nice evening at FMrS. All in all we found it okay - nothing more, nothing less.

As soon as you enter the restaurant you are greeted in a friendly manner and your jacket is taken away from you. You are led through the dark restaurant to your seat and immediately feel at home. The dishes are all very tasty and original. There is a lot on the menu that I would never have tried if I had only read the ingredients. But you will be pleasantly surprised by these dishes and taken on a journey of adventure. The wine list is small but fine, the wines that you can find on this menu reflect the quality of the restaurant, only top wines. We will definitely come back to repeat this experience.

This restaurant was on my list for a long time and finally tried for my birthday dinner. The inside was very dark but had a cozy and romantic vibe. Staffs were also very friendly. They explained the concept of the food and how it is better to order. So basically the foods here is based on "sharing" so they recommend to order at least 5 dishes for 3 people. And the foods were, I would say, experimental. But even though the food is for sharing, portion was still too little. If they serve a little bit more, then it definitely worth the price. But I still want to try here again on special occasions.

Out for an experience, not only a special place to dine? We had one saturday night. I do recommend Funky Mr Salvador. It is not the menu dishes and the people, which we by the way experienced as excellent. It is about their focus on and intention to ease you through a relaxed wonderfull evening, with focus on taste. After getting acquainted, we decided to let the staff guide us and chose the ¨surprise 4 course¨ option accompanied with one glass of wine. The better experience for an affordable price, which we don´t pay every eveving. Downside is you do need to reserve your table ample in advance.

Would be well deserving of a Michelin star, but apparently they’re too cool to care about that 😎 Their chef likes being creative with ingredients and you can really feel the effort that goes into creating each dish. I have to say I'm very picky when it comes to food, but I've never had anything to complain about at Funky. The dishes are not only lovingly prepared but also very inspiring. Funky Mr. Salvador promises not only a name with pizzazz, but also an upscale dining experience. Unfortunately, this promise remains unfulfilled. The dishes may want to think outside the box, but in reality they end up on an overpriced dwarf portion plateau. The service at Funky Mr. Salvador seems less like an experienced crew and more like insurance salespeople who are desperate to sell you a policy - in this case, however, culinary insurance that is supposed to protect against taste disappointment. After the concept of sharing is kindly explained to you for the fourth time, the service seems more like a lost rhythm, and the waiting times between courses could be like a marathon - only without the sporting joy. Even when someone politely points out that the taste of a dish is wrong, there is no answer - as if the taste were a secret that only the cook should know... A little more professionalism and a little less sales pressure might be more likely to convince guests to come back. Funky Mr. Salvador may be reaching for the stars, but right now the restaurant finds itself in more of a culinary Bermuda Triangle. The price is high, the portions are low, and the taste seems to be on a rescue mission. In this case, perhaps “Funky” is more of an invitation to rethink the concept.

Almost too inconspicuous from the outside and very dim inside but harmonious. When it came to the food, it wasn't entirely clear what portions you could expect. The supposed main courses (around €15) were explained to us as “similar to tapas”. Depending on the selection, a starter + a "main" was sometimes sufficient, but not others. Drinks were ok, but on the expensive side. 0.15l glass of wine ~9€. There was beer, for example. B. unfortunately not. The food was really tasty and, given the probably good ingredients, the price was also justified. The service was also friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, there is still a shortcoming from our point of view. Unfortunately, the starters and the “main courses” were very mixed up. Some in the group had already eaten the starter and main course and others had nothing on the table yet. When asked, reference was made to the concept of “what’s ready comes.” Here you could certainly work on the processes in the kitchen or design the menu in such a way that it is clear to the guests that starters do not necessarily come before the mains.

Through a recommendation in "Frankfurt goes out" we became aware of the restaurant Funky Mr. Salvador, which was advertised as an up-and-coming address in the casual fine dining sector. The entrance area: a bit narrow and dark, inside the first thing you see is the bar, which reminded us a bit of the Seven Swans. The ambience in the restaurant itself is very dark, but quite cozy and creates an intimate atmosphere despite the tight seating. The inside area is not particularly large and all tables were occupied when we visited. Fortunately, sufficient distance was maintained from other guests, which ensured a certain level of privacy. The menu was fine, small, but you won't find any great creativity. In terms of taste, the dishes were tasty and solid, but with room for improvement. The heifer ribeye could perhaps have been a little more tender, and less pop might have been better for dessert. The service was undoubtedly attentive and friendly, but the processes didn't seem to be completely in place yet, as we were served the starter first and only then the aperitif. In terms of price, the restaurant is in the fine dining segment, especially in terms of portion size, we are at the upper end here. In Frankfurt there are definitely restaurants with better value for money and a nicer location/ambience. In total we spent 90 minutes in the restaurant, paid 190 EUR and had a lovely evening, so the restaurant is definitely worth a visit. However, for us it is not a place that we would visit regularly.

Der Service ist hervorragend, die Atmosphäre schön. Das Aperitif Menü ist übersichtlich. Das Essen war gut, jedoch entsprach es nicht ganz den Erwartungen und hinkt im Verglich zu anderen Top Restaurants in Frankfurt hinterher. Man gibt sich zu viel Mühe für die Präsentation, sollte sich lieber etwas auf die Basics konzentrieren (z.B. Rumpfstück war trocken).

Eine orientalische frische leckere Küche die alle Sinne anspricht! Eine offene Küche mit großem Pass lädt zum Staunen ein! Hier klappt alles wie am Schnürchen! Die Gerichte kommen fast ein wenig zu schnell auf den Tisch! Die 4 Gänge sind super abgestimmt aber die Menge ist auch ordentlich! Allerdings kann man auch einfach einen Gang weglassen. Das Ambiente wirkt spannend eine großzügige industrielle Einrichtung die trotzdem eine gewisse Wärme ausstrahlt! Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und werden wieder kommen. Der Service wirkt manchmal etwas konfus aber am Ende kommt alles richtig an und man ist sehr bemüht und vor allem sehr zuvorkommend!

Unique recipees and everything is fresh quality ingredients. You need to order 2 or 3 tapas per person (in my opinion 2 is good) as that is the concept and I definitely will be back! Service is wonderful as well. The place is a bit loud when full capacity. Grilled aubergines and beef tataki are top.
