A traditional brewery with cultivated hospitality. Good drinks and “Cologne cuisine” The knuckle with fried potatoes and coleslaw was excellently prepared. Unfortunately the drinks arrived at the table a little late today. Nevertheless...a very nice evening.

I go to the “Zum goldenen Kappes” brewery almost every Sunday for lunch and eat my way up and down the menu. The other day I wanted a schnitzel made without breadcrumbs and just coated in flour and egg. Instead of fries I ordered potatoes and please put some food on top of the potatoes. They did it exactly how I wanted it. I was thrilled. Delicious, just like I used to eat at home. And the changes were made at no extra charge! The service is top and the empty glass is quickly refilled with the delicious Früh Kölsch. And the waiters are always there for the guests in no time and are never at a loss for a cool saying. I just feel very comfortable in this beautiful brewery and I always enjoy coming back there.

I'm in Cologne for 2 weeks for work and I'm very excited... this is the third time in this wonderful inn today. Not only is the kitchen worth mentioning, but the service staff are also 1 A. Very attentive, friendly and relaxed...the price/performance ratio is right here I'd love to come back! Keep it up!!!

Finally managed to be there after Corona. But I left with mixed feelings... The portions of my colleagues were so small that they shared a tarte flambée. My knuckle was quite salty. Beer came seemingly every hour. Shortly after 8 p.m. it was already quite empty (Saturday). Too bad

Very rustic and cozy inn with tradition. The food was very good and plentiful.

The location in Nippes headquarters. Food is good brewery level. Service also friendly. I always like to sit outside when the weather is nice. To look at the street and the pedestrians and enjoy my peace and quiet.

Very good home cooking, had ribs, red cabbage and mashed potatoes. About 4 weeks ago I ate the savoy cabbage with a large bratwurst, also great. Prices reasonable, gladly again.

A freshly tapped Früh Kölsch and a delicious Himmel und Äd. Enjoy the brewery atmosphere or sit outside in the sun and watch the people. What more could you want?

I've never eaten so badly. Even if you cook fresh! Should the standing time of the food be taken into account? Broad beans with chicken meat. The beans were no longer green but brown in the sauce. Chicken meat is tasteless and overcooked from being warmed up so much. If the chef values ​​the food he prepares, this shouldn't happen at all. He should prepare the dishes in such a way that he himself enjoys the food. The waiter's sayings aren't always well received, especially when you complain. It's a shame ☹️

Great, rustic brewery where I used to go regularly with my parents as a little boy over 40 years ago. After almost 40 years it happened again and it was great. Everything feels like it used to, rustic and just beautiful. We drank delicious Kölsch and ate well! Since we live in Cologne again, we will now manage to come here regularly. As an old Cologne resident, you feel very comfortable here. It's just a shame that the Cologne language no longer exists here either. 😞

When the guest is king... but only somewhere else! There are places where you feel welcome as a guest. This pub is not one of them. I was welcomed in the beer garden as if I were an unannounced guest at grandma's 80th birthday - and you know how much you like to see surprises like that... As soon as we sat down, we immediately said goodbye. It was as if I had asked for the most expensive dish on the menu, when all I wanted was a Kölsch. I didn't even see a drinks menu, let alone a sip of water. Apparently thirst in the beer garden is part of the Cologne flair. The waitress was as friendly as a construction site on a Monday morning, and the service was so invisible that I wondered if I was in the wrong movie after all. Was that a secret challenge where you had to fight for your beer? Spoiler: I lost. Conclusion: If you would like to be left without a drink and would prefer to admire the beer garden from a distance, this is the right place for you. For everyone else: There are also bars where you are not a nuisance as a guest. Unfortunately not here.

Food good, service friendly but faulty, cashier technology a disaster.

The portion size is a joke... The €8.90 children's schnitzel was hard to find because of all the plates. It was also brought with mayo even though we hadn't ordered it, so that we could then order ketchup and add both to the bill for €0.70 each. We ordered the “large” portion of fries so that one child would be full. €5.30 is more than excessive. It feels like the guest is being left out here, small portions even when eating for adults, and there is zero value for money here. We won't be coming back.

Great service and very tasty brewery food. We had knuckle and heaven and Ääd. Both were very good. The atmosphere is also rustic and you just feel comfortable.

Traditional brewery in Cologne Nippes! Delicious, perfectly chilled Früh Kölsch! Tasty brewery cuisine, Mondays have potato pancakes, Wednesdays are ribs day. Everyone, really everyone, was very nice and friendly, always up for a joke. I come regularly, in the summer there is also nice seating outside.

Really several of the best traditional german meals we've ever tasted in Germany for very fair prices. Only slightly surly service but prompt and brought the correct items.

Really quaint pub/restaurant. Köbesse everything is super nice and super friendly :) Food is also great and very, very tasty. I can always recommend it :) For dinner we each had rump steak from the grill with homemade herb butter and French fries :)

Been here as a tourist away from the headquarters in Früh am Domplatz. That was great! The Köbesse had some time to explain a few details to the Northern Lights. The FC, carnival and details about Kölsch - thank you for that. A nice hearty meal with plenty of Kölsch on the side. That's how it has to be. Greetings from the north with full 5 stars. Bye!

I was here because of the good reviews, had pork schnitzel with fries and unfortunately it tasted extremely bitter. I let my girlfriend try it and she couldn't eat it either and said it was extremely bitter. A pity

Here you should check the fill level of the freshly tapped Kölsch glass. Is not always 0.2. But this is also worthy of criticism in other Cologne bars. Customer should complain. After all, you end up paying 0.2 liters and not the 0.18 liters that were only delivered.

Auf Grund dessen, daß wir "Em golde Kappes" während der tollen Tage besucht haben, war zu erwarten, daß es etwas lebhafter und entsprechend lauter als sonst sein würde. Ebenso, daß die Köbesse mehr zu tun haben, als üblicherweise. Aus diesem Grunde haben wir dafür vollstes Verständnis. Wir waren trotz dieser Umstände wie immer vollstens zufrieden und werden sicherlich wiederkommen.

Reservierungen langjähriger Gäste werden wegen Klüngelei einfach kurzfristig gestrichen, ohne Information der Betroffenen

Leider ist die Reservierung über Open table nicht eingegangen /übermittelt worden. Die Servicemitarbeiter waren sehr unfreundlich und haben uns einfach stehen lassen. Sehr schlechter Service. Wir sind dann woandershin gegangen

Wie immer ein schöner und leckerer Besuch! Auch als unser Kleinkind durch den Laden geflitzt ist wurde uns kein schlechtes Gegühl gegeben und wir haben den angefragten Hochstuhl bekommen.

Sehr freundlicher, netter Köbes, Essen lecker, beim Sauerbraten wäre etwas Rotkohl noch prima gewesen, wir hatten eine Rollstuhlfahrerin und einen Rollatorfahrer dabei, beides klappte prima. Behindertentoilette ist vorhanden und groß genug. Es war etwas eng und lebhaft laut, aber so muss ein Brauhaus sein, es war für die älteren Herrschaften etwas einschränkend, aber insgesamt waren wir sehr zufrieden. Elmar Falkenberg

On a cold and rainy December night my twin brother and I were pub hopping around this part of the city when we decided to drop into " Fruh " Em Golde Kappes ,been here before on previous holidays to Cologne, always had a good time and so it proved on our latest visit. I love the look of this pub, it's old,it's traditional, it's characterful, interior is superb, a great looking serving bar, dark wood features abound throughout this pub, etched motifs along the walls are cool and interesting, great decor and furnishings , there's also plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, its just a great pub to unwind in. We luckily managed to get a table, two kölsch beers from Fruh Brauerei were deposited in front of us and these beers ( technically an ale ) were served in pristine condition being iced cold and sparkling, we just kicked back, chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular tavern. A big fan of the various kölsch beers available in Cologne and the kölsch beers brewed by Fruh Brauerei are certainly very tasty ,a golden, light, hoppy beer with a slight foamy head,very easy to drink especially when served freezing cold as in this pub, it was just so good being in such a lovely pub enjoying a quality brew and sat with my twin brother, best beer companion in the world. We both really enjoyed our beers in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to " Fruh " Em Golde Kappes we had a great time. " Fruh " Em Golde Kappes is easy to locate along Neusserstraße. Opening hours are; Monday to Saturday,11am till Midnight. Sunday, midday till 10pm. A wonderful pub ,one I highly recommend you visit if you're in the area or planning a holiday to this vibrant city on the River Rhine.
