Super pleasantly surprised! Really good steaks, delicious appetizers, and very attentive staff. The espresso wasn't quite up to par, a bit too weak for my taste, but that's just a minor point. The atmosphere is particularly noteworthy; it really feels like a traditional brewery in Cologne! We were here as a group for our Christmas party, and everything was absolutely perfect :)

Almost all vegetarian dishes contain quark, so there's not much left to eat if you try to make them vegan. The pasta can be ordered without cheese, but it's tasteless, oily, and overcooked. Definitely not recommended for vegans!

I sat right at the bar and was served by yazanxvx0 (yes, the TikTok star). The service was attentive, quick, and relaxed, and I was offered a fresh Kölsch beer every now and then. The atmosphere was pleasant, the food excellent, and the service unexpectedly good. Highly recommended.

I've been there twice now, and the food is truly excellent. The prices are on the higher end – depending on the dish and two or three drinks, you can expect to pay around €40–70 per person. Nevertheless, it's definitely worth a visit. The only minor drawback is that it can get quite noisy when the restaurant is full. However, this doesn't detract from my overall impression. Still, a clear recommendation!

Unfortunately, the Halven Hahn (a traditional German open-faced sandwich) arrived with a much too young Gouda cheese. It should have been much more mature. There was a generous side of onions, etc., but the Gouda is the most important part. So please work on this a bit, as it's a great snack with beer – and you guys have excellent beer!

The food was good and plentiful. The service was friendly. The restaurant was uncomfortable. The heating was broken. It was cold. The benches were cold because there was only one cushion available in the entire restaurant. It's very sad that the owner doesn't seem to care, even though there have been several complaints. They should really consider creating a more comfortable atmosphere, instead of sitting there like you're at a train station.

Hawaiian Schnitzel €21.90 A completely overcooked piece of meat with no flavor...

The food was delicious, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the service was quick. I can definitely recommend this restaurant. The schnitzel, however, had a distinct taste of old oil, but otherwise everything was very good.

We went to the restaurant yesterday for the first time in about a year. Afterwards, I had to delete my old 5-star review immediately. Both dishes, roast pork and meatloaf, were of cafeteria quality at best. They wanted to charge €5 for swapping the two sides—my fried potatoes from the roast pork to the meatloaf, and the fries from the meatloaf to my roast pork. We took matters into our own hands at the table. The initial female server was very nice and attentive, but the "Köbes from Cologne," as he called himself, who followed her was a complete disaster. Incredibly stupid remarks, even to the next table, and rude behavior towards the guests don't make a Köbes. I can say this with certainty as someone familiar with Cologne pub culture. There's definitely no Cologne culture being practiced here; it's more like the Schillinger Kirmes fair. And even that's better. And...you can take your forced use of the informal "du" to... Never again.

A Cologne ray of hope in soaking wet Trier – with Kölsch, character, and a head waitress you won't forget On October 24, 2025, we – hungry, thirsty, and slightly soaked – found ourselves at Glockenstraße 6-7, right in the heart of Trier's old town. It was raining, we were new to the city, and our culinary expectations were somewhere between "maybe a dry pretzel" and "hopefully someone's kitchen is still open." Spoiler alert: It got better. A touch of Cologne in Germany's oldest city Trier, founded around 16 BC as Augusta Treverorum, is proud of its Roman history, its Porta Nigra, and its wine culture. Kölsch, on the other hand, is as common here as Berlin accents in a monastery. All the more surprising that hidden in the heart of this venerable city is a brewery dedicated to the Cologne way of life – complete with Früh-Kölsch (early Kölsch), Himmel un Ääd (a type of beer), and Spießbraten (a type of roasted spit). For exiled Rhinelanders like us, a small consolation. For Berliners like me living in the diaspora, a reason to stop by. Reception with attitude – and attitude with heart In the "Früh bis spät" (early till late) bar, you're seated. Period. No discussion, no "take your pick." And that's a good thing. Because the head waitress – resolute, charming, with the gaze of someone who knows how many tables she's juggling at once – runs the place with that mixture of rigor and warmth one otherwise only sees in very good teachers or very bad confessors. I would poach her immediately if I ever opened a bar. Or a union. Food, drink, atmosphere We ended up in the pub area – rustic, lively, with a view of the tap and the people. We were asked if we wanted to eat there, but honestly, we would have eaten on the windowsill. The food was surprisingly good. Hearty, yes – but not dull. The Kölsch was fresh, the red wine surprisingly drinkable (and I say that as someone who usually thinks of dentist's rinse when thinking of pub wine). Conclusion Früh bis spät is not a place for quiet conversations over Pinot Noir and parsnip puree. It's a place for spontaneous stops, for honest food, for a truly honorable Kölsch. And for a head waitress you won't forget. If you're in Trier and long for a taste of Cologne – or simply a place where you're served in a friendly, efficient, and friendly manner – this is the place to be. And if I'm ever back in Trier, I won't go to the museum. I'll go to Früh bis spät. You learn more about people there.

Unfortunately, this is now a rip-off here too! You order a schnitzel with cream sauce and mushrooms. It costs €23, and then you end up being charged twice for the sauce, even though it's included. That was the last time!

The food was delicious, and the atmosphere with the outdoor heaters was great. Most of the servers were friendly, but there was one minor issue with one service: the food was placed somewhat carelessly on the table, the sauce spilled, and the table was left dirty. Unfortunately, this stained my white sweater. A quick apology, some help, or simply a "Bon appétit" would have made the situation much more pleasant. I work in the restaurant industry myself and know how important such small gestures are. Nevertheless: great food, very good drinks (beer, Aperol, coffee), and overall a lovely evening!

A brewery, but not one with the brewery tradition of refilling the ordered drink until the lid is on the glass. A reordered Kölsch wasn't brought, even though the place wasn't full. The food was very tasty, but here too, you didn't ask me shortly after serving if I was okay, so I missed the mustard with my bratwurst. The kitchen did a good job, but the service was poor and slowed sales. The ambiance with Cologne music was good, but too quiet, but that's a matter of taste, of course.

Cologne in Trier You wouldn't expect to find a typical Cologne restaurant in Trier. But as well-executed as this one, it's definitely worth recommending.

We were there early in the evening until late. We sat in a booth at a high table and drank Kölsch and wine. It was super cozy, and we felt very comfortable. We arrived without a reservation because they weren't accepting any more over the phone. Nevertheless, everyone was very friendly and quickly managed to free up a table for us for four people. Unfortunately, a stag night (men) was shouting and making noise, and it was very loud until they finally left.

I had a wonderful visit to Früh bis Spät yesterday. I especially liked being able to sit in the old part of the restaurant, which has a very pleasant and cozy atmosphere. I was there around 7 p.m. and felt very comfortable from the start. I would like to highlight the young, friendly waitress. She was attentive, welcoming, and her smile immediately created a great atmosphere. The food was also very tasty – the selection is highly recommended, especially for guests who enjoy meat.

Unfortunately, this was a complete disappointment for us. It was a real shame, as it was my partner's birthday and I really wanted to treat ourselves to a nice evening. We visited the restaurant as a couple. This was our first and definitely our last visit. We were initially seated at a table with high chairs that was far too small. The waiter (who was really very friendly) offered us a move to a round table with more space. We did so, but then realized they were large barrels. It was impossible to sit comfortably at them; you wouldn't know where to put your legs. That's certainly a matter of taste; unfortunately, we found it very uncomfortable. We were served by many different waiters. A few of them were very nice, but one older lady was truly terribly unfriendly. When we looked at the menu, we were honestly a bit confused. We found the prices of the optional side dishes for the steak to be truly exorbitant. We've also never experienced having to pay extra for herb butter or onions with a steak. At those prices, you should at least get something like that. Well, we thought maybe the quality would be good enough, so we gave it a try. My partner chose the baked potato with herb quark instead of fries. He also added mushrooms. The portions we received were, to be honest, a joke. First, they forgot to add the mushrooms to my partner's plate. When we pointed this out, they added them. Unfortunately, they tasted old and not at all tasty. The extra charge for the baked potato was €2.50. In return, you got a really small potato with "herb quark," which doesn't deserve the name. The quark simply tasted greasy and unappetizing. My partner ultimately didn't eat it. The steak itself was okay, but nothing more and definitely not worth the higher price. It was also very poorly seasoned, with a lot of salt in some places and none at all in others. I had a meatloaf with hunter's sauce. Unfortunately, that was also completely unappetizing. Cheap meat, its poor quality masked with a ton of seasoning. I ended up feeling sick after the meal. At least the fries were delicious. We told the very friendly and helpful young waitress what we thought of the meal. She passed the feedback directly to the kitchen, and the manager gave us a discount. We give them credit for that. Unfortunately, that doesn't change the fact that the food was terrible and the location was, for us, completely uncomfortable. We will definitely not be coming back. The side salads are missing from the photos.

If the staff is so inattentive 20 minutes after opening, what will it be like after several hours? We stood at the reception for 10 minutes, and several staff members walked past us without saying hello. When someone finally had time, we were told that there were no rooms available without reservations. Apparently, they don't want to open all the rooms, since over 100 guests weren't there. But okay, if you're not welcome, then someone who makes you feel like you're being looked after gets your money.

The restaurant is surprisingly large. It consists of several spaces, all connected by rooms or buildings. The service is fast and friendly. We were seated in a small, separate room with six tables. Someone came by regularly to check on us and see if we needed anything. The decor is a bit basic. German reliability? I didn't find the food particularly special. It tasted good, but it tasted like "assembly line" food.

It was recommended to us several times, But unfortunately, we were more than disappointed! The service was beyond poor; we sat for over half an hour with empty glasses, even though several servers walked past us several times. We then took our "Kölsche Kranz" (Cologne wreath) back to the counter ourselves to get new drinks. We waited over an hour for the food, and then there were things in the food that absolutely didn't belong there (pieces of plastic). After mentioning this to the server, we received a "I don't know," followed by a shrug. Otherwise, no reaction at all. After eating, we sat for another 20 minutes with empty plates. There were a lot of fruit flies throughout the entire restaurant, which was very unpleasant. It's also very loud, and you can hardly understand the person speaking to you.

The food is good, but unfortunately our experience was spoiled by a rather unpleasant young blonde girl. There are ways to talk to people to tell them they can't change seats. If you don't have a reservation, don't bring a stroller.

I’ve ordered steak from this restaurant several times, and overall the quality and flavor are quite good. Most of the time, the meat is well-cooked, tender, and seasoned just right. However, out of my last few orders, three or four times the steak didn’t quite meet the usual standard — either the texture was off or the flavor wasn’t as rich. It seems like there’s some inconsistency in preparation or meat quality. Still, when they get it right, it’s one of the better steaks around.

The employees were all very energetic and happy throughout the evening, which made for a great vibe. I ordered the schnitzel with pineapple and cheese, together with the homemade maracuja lemonade.

Despite empty tables, we were ushered into a corner where we only got a refill after asking several times. Even the waiter wandered around the restaurant with our salad, perplexed, until we cautiously asked if it was for us. The food, as usual, was delicious. When paying, the waitress threw the receipt onto my husband's table, even though he had already reached for it. It felt very unfriendly. I'm not used to that kind of thing there! And no... the restaurant wasn't crowded! Besides, I don't want to feel like I'm being asked for a table; I'm a guest who, I hope, is being satisfied. So far, I've always felt welcome...
