Mega fries and the best (vegan) currywurst I've ever eaten 💚

Unfortunately, the currywurst wasn't quite cooked through, but the selection, prices and service were good.

The prices have already risen quite a bit. The sauces themselves are very tasty. Still, they're just fries. And if sometimes the fries aren't cooked properly, that's simply not acceptable given the price.

A portion of fries now costs €4.5. Apparently 250g. Certainly not. Just a mayo on the side. The second one for 1.5€!!!! Just half a cheap currywurst with it. All the fun with a drink for €8.5. Great. The prices are not aimed at students. I used to like your fries. Not anymore.

Long...very long waiting time. It wasn't the large number of customers that was the problem... no, the service. Terrible. It doesn't work at all.

Always great in itself, but the last time I was there the wooden pieks smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, which was very unappetizing when eating because it smelled, especially as a non-smoker.

If you've enjoyed fries here even once, you'll definitely not eat them anywhere else. ;-) And with the many sauces there is something for every taste

The fries are okay, but they no longer match the quality they used to have. The "begging" for tips (via debit card and with the phrase "Tips are good for your karma") is simply embarrassing and somewhat disrespectful to customers, especially considering that you're only handed fries and have to remind the service staff of what you ordered. The place has grown large enough that it has expanded to three locations. I won't be placing another order there. Unfortunately, eternal waiting times. 10 to 20 minutes if you're unlucky. 1 employee. In Berlin, 2-3 employees work in similarly successful stalls. Service is therefore not typical of a snack bar, despite the great taste.

Your currywurst is hard to beat! So delicious and the mayo with parmesan and rosemary was also amazing! Fries were amazing too! Everything made with a lot of love, thank you!

I was in Jena again after 5 years and Fritz Mitte is simply a safe bet. Despite increasing hype far beyond the borders of Jena, Fritz Mitte still keeps every promise when it comes to taste and quality.

I have been coming to Fritz Mitte since 2008. So far I've always been happy and later stopped with the kids for a quick dinner after the outdoor pool. But no one can pay for that anymore. A portion of fries (tiny) with ketchup and mayo (what kids want) costs more than 5€. And my kids weren't fed anymore. Sry, but unfortunately that doesn't work. I just expect something different from a snack bar. It's no longer affordable and no longer fills you up. Then it's not what it's supposed to be. In any case, we leave with tears in our eyes and full of incomprehension.

After a little over 15 years, it's unfortunately over for me. I've been a fan of Fritz Mitte since I was able to enjoy my curry in a hanging chair at the old location. No matter who asked, if you wanted curry sausage and/or fries, Fritzi was always the first choice! Delicious sauces, crispy fries and a pleasantly spicy sausage. What more could you want? At the moment I think the price-performance ratio is absolutely subpar. Over the years, reductions continued, instead of two mayos there was only one included, the portion size shrank and the price rose steadily. A deal now costs a whopping €9 to go, the sausage is no longer cut correctly in 3 out of 4 cases (which is absurd! How am I supposed to cut it up by hand with the skewer?), the amount of fries has increased reduced. The latest highlight is that there are no longer two sizes but only one, according to the employee, “a size in between”. The “big fry” now became a means and a surprise, and of course even more expensive than before. Yes, I know, the minimum wage is rising, entertainment costs, shopping, everything is going up, but these steps cannot be justified on that alone. Please find your way back to your roots at least at this location. Not everyone needs the exclusivity that you have built up in recent years with the new stores; some people simply want the classic back. A down-to-earth curry with fries.

Went to Fritz Mitte with the kids. Fries and their own mayo-ketchap sauces are delicious. My daughter used to study here and was here often. I love coming to Jena and we stop here once a year. Tradition.

Fresh and crunchy... 👌🏻 I've almost tried all the sauces, but rosemary and sour cream are my favorites.👌🏻 Peanut is a unique option for a different taste.👌🏻 Portions with Currywurst are also delicious, recomendation : the spicy one.👌🏻 However, one problem: they recently changed their portions. Instead of putting sauce on top of the fries, they now provide it in separate containers beside the fries with a much smaller amount, which is not good!👎🏻

I love Fritz Mitte fries, but as others have mentioned, the price-performance ratio and the fries-mayo ratio just don't work anymore. That's too bad. Paying €5.70 with enough mayo just isn't the same anymore. I will definitely go less often now.

Fritz Mitte is no longer what it used to be. I was shocked by the new serving system (read: precisely portioned mini cups for the mayo) and the exorbitantly increased prices. Even with the current economic situation, you shouldn't forget that when you buy fries, they are still inexpensive frozen goods. €4.20 for a portion of fries is simply too much.

As always, the fries are delicious and the sauces are also to die for. The garlic sauce and the truffle mayo are recommended

I love Fritz Mitte, but I usually always go to the store on Neugasse. The food is better prepared there, the fries are crunchier and the currywurst is better fried. So if you want to have the best Fritz Mitte experience, you should go straight to the branch on Neugasse.

On January 1st, 2024 there was another increase in prices in the Jena French fries empire 'Fritz Mitte'. Customers were no longer given the choice between a small and a large portion; there is now only one size, which is between the two old sizes, i.e. 250g. This now costs 4.20, including a mayo. If you take this portion in the take-away box that is always sold to you, it costs 4.70. The price increase is really immense; the price per kilo of the old large portion was €13.30 (300g, €3.90), but the price per kilo is now €16.80. An inflation of over 25%, which cannot be explained by the increase in VAT.

Leider stimmt das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis einfach nicht mehr. Zum 01.01.2024 die Preise hochgehoben und die Portionen verkleinert. Das entspricht nicht nur dem Wegfall der Mehrwertsteuer.

Leckere Pommes mit großer Auswahl an Mayos (2 davon sogar vegan), Currywurst (auch vegan) und Drinks bei reundlichem Service lassen auch Mal ein paar Minuten Wartezeit gerne in Kauf nehmen.

Der Laden wird von Jahr zu Jahr schlechter. Erst kürzlich wurden die Portionen verkleinert und dafür die Preise angezogen. Mittlerweile bezahlt man fast 5€ (!) für eine Portion Pommes. Wegen dem unzureichenden Klecks Majo den man dazu bekommt, hat man im letzten Drittel das Vergnügen nur noch trockene Pommes genießen zu dürfen. Auf freundliche Nachfrage ob man etwas mehr Majo bekommen kann, wird man darauf hingewiesen, dass man diese für 1,50€ (!) kaufen kann. Zusätzlich darf man sich vom Restaurantleiter noch anschreien lassen. Sehr nett.

Jena ohne Fritzmitte ist nicht auszudenken. Ich bin dort schon hingegangen als sie noch im alten Häuschen vorm Daheme waren und es zwei Mayo’s „umsonst“ dazu gab. Seitdem haben sie sich vergrößert und in Jena vermehrt. Die Pommes sind immer noch genauso lecker, genauso wie die Currywurst. Natürlich sind sie inzwischen etwas teuer geworden aber das ist wohl der normale Lauf der Dinge. Solange ich in Jena lebe werde ich sehr wahrscheinlich alle paar Wochen/Monate bei Fritzmitte auftauchen. 🍟🫶🏻

Bin eigentlich regelmäßiger Kunde seit vielen Jahren, aber seit einiger Zeit macht es echt keinen Spaß mehr... Die Preise sind langsam echt unverschämt, ständig bekommt man falsche Soßen dazu, die Wurst wird nicht richtig geschnitten (was mit dem Holzspieß echt bescheiden ist) und die Wurst ist inzwischen häufig nurnoch eine warme Bockwurst und in keinster Weise angebraten. Echt schade, hoffentlich wird es wieder besser!

Leckere Pommes zum fairen Preis! Auch die Currywurst ist zu empfehlen. Mein Tipp ist die holländische Erdnuss Mayo.

Schnelle Pommes mir Currywurst, dazu eine große Auswahl an verschiedene Mayonnaisesorten. Einfach klasse, damals schon besonders und bis heute unverändert toll. PS: Keine Kalorien zählen;)

Die Pommes schmecken immer wieder toll, aber die Portionen werden immer kleiner und teurer.

Super Leckere Pommes in vielen Variationen. Durch verrottbares Material der Verpackung hält sich das schlechte Gewissen auch in Grenzen.

Pommes seeeehr, seeehr lecker. Die belgischen aus ganzen Kartoffeln mit Schale. Die Mayonnaisen sind alle auch wirklich gut und die Portion ordentlich. Die Jungs, die uns bedienten waren gut drauf. Das Ambiente erhält nur deswegen Abzüge, weil es sich dabei nur um ein Imbisshäuschen handelt und man umliegend auf eine freie Bank hoffen muss (unter der Woche zur Mittagszeit kaum zu bekommen, weil sehr viele Menschen gerne hier essen). Wenn wir in Jena sind, dann versuchen wir mindestens einmal Pommes zu essen.
