Frau Trude Steak & Wine in Hanau

A great young restaurant. Modern, cool, and hip. The food was amazing. I had the steakburger. Juicy and full of flavor. The fries were a bit too salty. At least the bottom half. A small menu, which certainly brings fresh dishes to the table. It's just a shame that one appetizer is no longer available. We happened to catch a very quiet Sunday, and the place was relatively empty. Which isn't a bad thing, but a little bit of people livens up the atmosphere. The service was friendly and quick. The ambiance was very cool. I really liked it.

Four of us were there on a Saturday evening at 6 p.m. Friends of ours had been there during the previous owner's time and were very shocked by the change. There was only one server on duty, serving all the tables (when we arrived, there was only one other table with four people). The wait for a drink order was 10 minutes, another 10 for food, and a full 50 minutes for the food to arrive (we only saw one person in the kitchen). The menu is very questionable; there are no pork dishes. The wines are listed in a very small way at the end; at first, we thought that was the explanation of the additives. We were satisfied with the taste: seasonal salad with feta and beef fillet, Darth Vader Burger, and chicken schnitzel. It was very quiet for a Saturday. Hopefully, it's busier otherwise.

Friendly staff, great atmosphere, and delicious dishes. My medium-rare steak was cooked to perfection. The highlight was our dessert, the chocolate soufflé.

An absolute disaster and a disgrace! We've been going to Frau Trude's for many years. We waited 1.5 hours for our food. We were constantly put off until we left without food. We also had to pay full price for drinks. We'll never be back.

Positive: -The food was super delicious, nothing to complain about. -I thought the atmosphere was cool, and the old-school music was playing too. -Service was good and friendly. Criticisms: -The menu is quite varied, but I would have liked a bit more choice, for example, with the burgers. There are only three different burgers: one with ground beef, one with steak, and one with chicken. I think 3-4 burgers with ground beef would be good. -Most of the dishes are quite expensive. Steak with a side dish can easily cost €50. -I find the drink prices really steep. €5.80 for a 0.5-liter beer, unfortunately, that takes away a bit of my enjoyment. I don't mind if good food has its price, but I feel ripped off with drinks. At €4.50, I might have had another one, but not like this.

Unfortunately, I was very disappointed; the food looked so delicious in the online pictures. It was my first time here and also my last. The chicken in our burger was raw. Of course, we got a new burger. But raw chicken can cause food poisoning. The schnitzel was OK. Unfortunately, we still had to pay for the burger...I thought that was a shame; it should have been on the house if you get raw chicken. The cocktails were very tasty.

Seven of us were there today; we had made a reservation four days ago! We arrived promptly at 5:00...our drinks and food orders were taken by a friendly employee. Unfortunately, there were no more sides for the steak, just fries! Gentlemen... The drinks arrived after 40 minutes... then another 20 minutes later, he came back and said there was nothing left on the burger either... no lettuce, tomato, etc.... did that make sense? WHY DIDN'T HE SAY IT RIGHT AWAY?? Then, after 15 minutes, the food arrived. Unfortunately, it wasn't cooked to the right temperature, but the meat was good. A small portion of fries... unfortunately, there was nothing else. They forgot the wine... oh man! In summary, it was terrible. I would never have opened like that. My impression: I'm close to dying! Never again... I'd rather have a kebab to go!

Overpriced for small portions. The food was good, but definitely not worth the price. I had the cauliflower steak. The mix-your-own lemonade costs €6.90 and is made with only syrup. Be careful with the mint lemonade: it tastes similar to toothpaste or Berliner Luft. The service was slow, and we had to wait two hours for our food. Not recommended since the change of ownership.

The cocktail was very good and reasonably priced. Service: 3.8 out of 5. We arrived at 8:05 PM (reservation required). We ordered food at 8:12 PM, and the food arrived at 9:02 PM. Cutlery arrived at 9:10 PM. The staff was very friendly, though. Atmosphere: 4.3 out of 5. The old-style building with raw walls and graffiti makes a very nice impression and creates a pleasant atmosphere. The temperature was too warm and it was a bit stuffy. Detailed comments: The food: The burger was good, the steak was pleasantly medium-well done, but overall nothing special. The burger buns were black, but in my opinion, not homemade. The fries were well-seasoned, but very thin and had more of a McDonald's feel, which didn't go well with the otherwise interesting burger. The salad, on the other hand, looked unloved and consisted only of (a lot of) carrots, cucumber, tomatoes, grapes, and olives. My fiancée's meal, on the other hand, was only okay. The chicken schnitzel was rather mediocre, and the accompanying "truffle sauce" tasted like mushroom cream sauce instead of truffles. All in all, solid food, but nothing special. Regarding the service: Waiting 50 minutes for the food is too long, given the quality and quantity described, and a restaurant that was only half full. Then waiting another 10 minutes for cutlery, which should have been on the table beforehand, is a shame. The service was very friendly. It was quite loud in the front bar area, but the back area, where we sat, was quite pleasant. Reservations were easy to make online, which I liked.

Better go to other restaurants - you're not valued as a customer there! We have a voucher issued for the former restaurant "Frau Trude" (Große Dechaneistraße 24, 63450 Hanau). Yesterday, we tried to redeem it and discovered that it was refused both at the original restaurant (under new management) and at the restaurant "Klara Hanau" (Am Markt 8c, 63450 Hanau), currently run by you as the former operator – with the explanation that they were no longer responsible or unwilling to accept the voucher. The refusal to redeem the voucher – without a fair or at least mediating solution – is, in our view, not only disappointing but legally questionable. The fact that the former operator continues to run his own restaurant makes the blanket rejection all the more incomprehensible. What particularly annoys us: We were looking forward to the restaurant visit, but since we don't live in Hanau, we traveled especially for the occasion – and ended up frustrated, standing in front of two restaurants where no one was willing to take responsibility. The experience was not only disappointing, but also damaging to our business. I have regularly used both restaurants, Frau Trude's and Klara's, for business meals in the past and have even recommended them – that will change after this incident.

At Frau Trude's in Hanau, you'll not only find super delicious food, but also some real highlights: The burger was perfectly prepared – juicy, flavorful, and made with fresh ingredients. Unfortunately, I can't understand the many positive reviews. My expectations were high because of this, but they were disappointed in several respects. The restaurant claims to be high-end dining, but serves only an average menu at significantly inflated prices. The extremely long wait for the food was particularly annoying. A brief explanation or apology would have helped, but instead, they simply left me sitting until I had to ask for it myself. Overall, the visit left the impression of an average restaurant that didn't live up to its own standards and pricing. It's a shame, because I had hoped for much more.

Atmosphere is really good for a first date and drinks. Food was horrible. Took 1 hour to get 3 items. The waiter was cool she kept apologizing and offered me a free drink, but for a 300gram nasty , tough steak, fries from aldi sprinkled with truffle and average mushrooms and 3 small warters.90€. I’m sorry. The quality of the food was not worth 90€. Would not recommend this place if you are hungry. Better to cook at home

The sea bass with potato mille-feuille is one of the best dishes I've ever eaten. The combination is excellent, and the flavors are perfectly balanced. I tended to wait a bit long for the food, as it was quiet, but the dish was definitely worth it. I also had the Classic Burger, and I enjoyed that one too :)

We ate there for the first time; the place wants to give the impression of a yuppie joint, based on the prices alone. However, we had to wait over 10 minutes for the beer we ordered, after which no one even noticed that it was already empty. The salt and pepper shakers were also empty, and not just at our table. We had "Speedy Gonzales," which, according to the menu, was "fries with beef fillet strips and creamy cheese sauce." However, it was beef and fries dipped in gravy with weird chunks of cheese on top. Must have been supposed to represent "poutin." The gravy was also way too salty. Never again. Without a starter, over €33 per person.

We heard about Ms. Trude through an Instagram ad. We reserved tables online really easily, just the way I like it. We received a really warm and friendly welcome and were served right after choosing our seats. The drinks and food came really quickly. The dishes were absolutely delicious. The staff knew the dishes and were able to offer tips and recommendations, which I think is really important. One point deducted because, unfortunately, the Darth Vader Burger was already cold and one of the pieces of meat was burnt on the sides. Still, it was a great evening and we'll definitely be back.

The manager was very nice, and you even get to see him! ;-) Today, the service didn't seem to run quite as smoothly, but they still made a lot of effort. For this reason, I can't understand the excessive behavior or reaction of some guests... sometimes it helps to ask politely instead of being aggressive and rude towards people. Even if the restrooms are occupied, it's like everywhere else: you just have to wait 😉

The price-performance ratio is poor. The food was good, but nothing more. It just doesn't add up. For three people with two burgers and fries with a few fillet strips, I paid over €100. Service took a very long time, even though the place wasn't full. When we finished eating, other guests at the next table were given a daily/seasonal menu that wasn't offered to us. A 200-gram rump steak with asparagus costs €26.90, which is the same price as the Dark Side something-or-other burger with a 120-gram steak on top. I feel like I've been ripped off. I'm really sorry, but that was my last time at this place.

Food was super tasty. Gladly again! At the moment there is even asparagus - either with steak, schnitzel or pasta - we all had steaks. Steak was nice and juicy and the asparagus was crisp and not too soft. The dessert was also super good. We would really like to come over for dinner again.

I wouldn't necessarily recommend this place and I'm a little surprised at the good reviews. The waiter was definitely very friendly. The decor of the restaurant is of course a matter of taste. The prices of the drinks are pretty outrageous. The kitchen should certainly be creative, but since I cook a lot of fresh food myself, I would say with great certainty that ready-made products are used for the sauces, for example. Given the prices, I expect homemade and freshly prepared ingredients. In addition, the toilets were not clean and the restaurant had only just opened. There's still quite a bit of room for improvement.

I recently had the pleasure of spending an evening at Frau Trude in Hanau - and I was absolutely thrilled. As soon as you enter the restaurant you can feel the warm, inviting atmosphere. The ambience is stylish but not overloaded, just the right mix of cozy and modern. The highlight of the evening was of course the food: my steak was cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside, wonderfully tender and juicy on the inside. The quality of the meat was exceptionally good. The side dishes and homemade sauces were also a delight and wonderfully coordinated. The wine selection is particularly worth mentioning: the friendly waitress recommended a dry white wine that went perfectly with my meal. The overall service was attentive, warm and professional, you really feel valued as a guest. The only negative thing was that we got the food a little later. The waiter apologized for the delay and made up for it with dessert and an Averna.🥂 My conclusion: Frau Trude is definitely a recommendation for everyone who appreciates good food, fine wines and a relaxed atmosphere. We had dinner yesterday with very appealing starters and perfect fillet steak. The kitchen's reaction to special requests for steak side dishes was also very nice. We will be happy to come back👍. Maybe the steak side dishes could be reconsidered because I think steak eaters are more conservative. Corn on the cob, baked potatoes and bacon-wrapped beans are not offered. Aber auch nicht mehr. Preis/Leistung passt definitiv nicht. €2,— für eine mini Portion Ketchup ist ziemlich unverschämt. Wenn sich am Konzept nichts ändert, bin ich gespannt wie lange es die aktuelle Frau Trude gibt… Es wundert mich auch, woher die ganzen positiven Google Bewertungen kommen.

Waren heute wegen einer Instagram Story bei Frau Trude in Hanaus zu ersten Mal zum Essen gewesen. Es war nicht viel los gewesen. Location ganz ok. Hatten panierte Gambas als Vorspeise, Nudel mit Trüffel an Sahnesoße und ein Rumpsteak mit hausgemachten Pommes und Kräuterbutter bestellt. Die Gambas waren ganz ok, die Nudel infolge der Sahnesoße sehr schwer. Das Rumpsteak haben wir zweimal zurückgegeben, da es beim ersten Mal fast durch war und beim zweiten Mal es kalt gewesen ist. Die Kräuterbutter kam direkt aus dem Eisschrank, so dass sie auf dem kalten Steak nicht geschmolzen ist, und das Steak noch mehr abgekühlt hat. Das Steak hätte mit Kräuterbutter und Pommes 47€ gekostet. Fazit: Preis/Leistung passen nicht. Zu teuer, Qualität unterirdisch. Da gibt es woanders deutlich besseres Essen zu vernünftigen Preisen. Daher nicht zu empfehlen.

I discovered this restaurant in Hanau by chance on a Monday evening. The ambience, especially the front area, is super nice and very attractively lit. From the start the service was excellent. Alea looked after us very personably and, above all, very attentively. We had the linguine with truffles and the cauliflower with harissa. Both were very tasty and the portion was great. I was able to eat the rest the next day ;) A few more vegetarian dishes could be offered. That would be great. I'm looking forward to the next visit!

Our visit there 3 weeks ago was a complete disaster! We have 2!!! We waited hours for our "food"! There were 7 of us and no one even noticed that we were sitting there without eating. After asking several times, it was just cooked, and the taste was a complete disaster. My girlfriend ate a steak that looked like it had already been eaten! Waste of money at the highest level! By the way, there was neither an apology from the waiter nor a goodie from the kitchen - we were happy about that in retrospect - no, the waiter was almost amused. He almost came across as if he had Xanax (sleeping pills) in his mouth. Ex-employees then enlightened us. New owner, new kitchen and no plan! By the way, 4 out of 7 had stomach pains the next day! Was in Social Media interessant aussieht, hält dem Realitätscheck nicht stand. Das Essen war ok, aber noch viel Luft nach oben. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist unausgewogen.

I found out today that the owner has changed, and the menu has been altered. It wasn't announced online or through the media. The friendly waitress worked hard, but the food and selection are gone. We were there yesterday with a larger group. Unfortunately, I have to say that nothing exceptional was offered here. The meat was okay, but the cooking was unfortunately not right at all (medium-rare was medium-rare, and vice versa). The chef seemed overwhelmed by the number of people. A steak (the waiter told us he had completely forgotten). The steak itself was tasty, but, as I said, nothing exceptional. At these prices, which simply don't reflect the service and the cuisine, you'd expect a bit more, or at least a side dish included. What was shocking was four sticks of Bimi on a small plate, which should have cost €7. Each side dish and dip (minus-sized) costs extra. What shocked me deeply, however, was the storage of the live lobsters in the open refrigerator. These animals are not stored in accordance with animal welfare standards at all. This urgently needs to be remedied. With this type of storage, the animals suffocate miserably and release ammonia, which they use to poison themselves. Please stop this!

Even when we asked if they could make it a little warmer, we received no response. In the end, some of us had to sit at the table with our jackets on. The restrooms smelled strongly of "mustiness." The appetizers we ordered were delicious. Three of the main courses had to be returned because they were burnt and tasted accordingly. The saying "you eat with your eyes" unfortunately doesn't apply to this restaurant either. The cheeseburger lay lonely and forlorn on the plate. I expected a bit more for the price. Even after it wasn't burnt anymore, it tasted just okay. A shame for a price of almost €20.00. The prices are unreasonably high for what you get. Especially with non-alcoholic drinks. The service was very courteous, but we were unable to obtain any concessions from the restaurant owner (e.g., a free espresso). We won't be returning and we wouldn't recommend it.

Aus einem guten Steakhaus ist eine absolut mittelmäßigen Lokal geworden. Die Bedienung bemühen sich, aber das Essen ist sein Geld nicht wert. Der Burger...war trocken und aromatisch langweilig, der Wildkräutersalat ein einfacher Beilagensalat. Eine Rechnung gab es nicht - geht gar nicht!

Very nice shop and super delicious food, what more could you want!

I really like Frau Trude's, especially for the cocktails. They have a really creative selection, even with non-alcoholic options. If you have a special request, they usually fulfill it. I think the decor is fantastic—modern and cozy. The food is also great, although I can only personally comment on the vegetarian dishes and the desserts. As for the food, it's truly delicious and sophisticated. You should definitely visit there at least once; a great place in Hanau and the surrounding area!

Was mal ein Ort gehobener Gastronomie war, ist zu einem sehr durchschnittlichen Lokal abgesunken. Ein Wildkräuteralat, in dem man keine Kräuter und auch sonst nicht viel schmeckt. Ein Burger, der einfach im Aroma weit weg von einem guten Burger (z.B. dem, der alten Frau Trude) liegt. Ein winziges Töpfchen Ketchup für 2€ zu den Pommes. Und am Ende keine Rechnung: "Das macht dann 94€." - ich hätte zumindest gerne gehört, was da alles auf der Rechnung war. Unser Fazit: Da gehen wir nicht mehr hin.

We often went to Ms. Trude's because, in my opinion, they were the best steaks in the area. Unfortunately, a change of operator has now taken place, which has shifted things significantly into the negative. The waiting time for the steak was over an hour. A single dessert at 30min. There were only 5 tables occupied in the restaurant. Waiters were often out and about, but unfortunately without food. However, the taste of the steak was still good. However, the side dishes have been cut very together. The newly added grilled vegetables are unimaginative and very oily. That suggests more of a pan than a grill... the fries are delicious. Unfortunately, the formerly extensive and selected wine list no longer exists. Four run-of-the-mill bottled wines: Primitivo, Malbec etc. Unfortunately not very tasty either, but at over €30 (up to over €50) it's still not a bargain. We were really disappointed. We wanted to surprise a friend who was visiting from Australia and invited him to dinner. Unfortunately, the change of operator was not communicated anywhere. It was still a surprise, but different than expected... The waiter apologized very politely and pointed out that the cook was late and there were no helpers. Unfortunately, there was neither a small bread or something similar at the beginning to bridge the hungry first 90 minutes, nor an “attempt at reconciliation” at the end. Espresso and the late dessert (we specifically asked about the waiting time - they said it was 10 minutes - actually: 30 minutes) were fully included in the bill. The performance offered is too poor for the price level. Unfortunately we'll probably have to look for another steakhouse. Bye, Ms. Trude... It had once been beautiful.

Yesterday we wanted to have dinner in a relaxed atmosphere, that was the plan. The food came way too late, about 1 1/2 hours after ordering, and the service was terrible. Unfortunately, expensive prices for poor dishes. I also had death spray...

Unfortunately I have to correct my 5-star rating. We always enjoyed going to Ms. Trude's. There has now been a change in operator. Unfortunately there is nothing about this on Insta or Facebook. Unfortunately, you can feel this in almost every detail. The steaks are now more expensive, all of our beloved side dishes (except fries) and many dips are unfortunately missing from the menu. The biggest disappointment was the wine list. It consisted of 4 (!) types of red wine (and some white/rose). At a steakhouse! The great old wine list was no longer there. No IPA beers either. We had to wait over 1 hour for our food and over 30 minutes for dessert. We understand that sometimes things don't go well, especially at the beginning (for the new operators), but you could at least take espresso off the bill for the long wait or bring a greeting from the kitchen before you starve. We miss old Mrs. Trude and wouldn't come back.

We became aware of the restaurant through the program “My Local, Your Local”. What you saw there was also offered live on site. The place has a nice style, with a mix of urban and industrial, which we liked. The service was consistently friendly and quick and questions were answered in detail. As far as the food is concerned, it is of course clear that it is mainly about meat, as it appears in the name (Steak & Wine). There are "standard cuts" such as rump steak, file and co., but also a selection of different cuts of meat. When we were there, for example, there were tomahawk steaks. But there are also other dishes such as burgers, salads and a few vegetarian or vegan dishes. When it comes to drinks, there is also a large selection of wines, gin and beers and of course also non-alcoholic drinks. Thanks to a quieter Sunday evening, we were also lucky enough to be able to chat with Nabila and find out more about the show. We were very impressed with the whole package that was offered to us. The shop is a clear recommendation, and not just for meat lovers. We will definitely come back! Greetings from Groß-Gerau. 😁

Burger was big but only okay, not great. The steak in the salad was more rare than medium, so if you order specify. Overall, for Hanau, the place is a plus, but if another good steak house opens, they will have to improve their offerings.

Incredibly good and high quality food. The fillet melted in your mouth. Plus friendly, competent service. Unfortunately quite expensive, but the price-performance ratio is right. Only recommended. You can sit outside without barriers. There is a step that needs to be overcome

This evening we visited Ms. Trude's for the first time. What can I say...We were served incredibly courteously by the lovely Pascal. I had already reserved the table in advance because we are celebrating our 7th anniversary today. The table was beautifully decorated. I have never seen such a beautifully prepared table! Thank you again! And the food was an absolute dream! We'll definitely be back!! Thank you for everything! It was so so good!! I would love to give many more stars!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Always delicious and attentive service. Unfortunately, prices have risen massively. 3-4 euros for homemade ketchup, I don't know... everything tastes great

One star goes to the starter (sweet potato fries + pimientos) and the vegetarian main course. The second star goes to the service and the drink prepared. Unfortunately, our second main course - a burger - was a disappointment. At this price for a burger you would expect an explosion of flavor, which just went completely wrong. Bun was dry, patty was way too hard and the preparation was generally nothing special. Price-performance is completely lacking here. It's a shame, but that was the last visit for us.

The steak was great and the service was super nice.

Was visiting with two children. The fries we ordered (5€) were good but sparse. The ketchup and mayonnaise that the nice waiter offered were homemade and delicious. The punchline: Ketchup and mayo were not included in the price, but were charged extra at €2.80. €2.80 EACH. A French fry with ketchup and mayo that is too small normally costs €10.60. When asked, the waiter only charged for one of the dips, but pointed out that the dips were homemade and therefore the price was justified. — Nice concept, nice store, good service. Generally quite expensive, but you can do it if everything fits together well. But fries for €10.60? Goodbye.🫡
