Forstbaumschule Restaurant u. Parkcafé in Kiel

Seit vielen Jahren besuchen wir die Forstbaumschule zum Essen in unseren Ferien. Dieses hat sich in Zukunft für uns erledigt. Abgestandene Bratkartoffeln...Getränke ohne Kohlensäure....Kinderessen vergessen zu ordern... Sehr enttäuschend.

We were there for brunch on a Sunday...the selection is huge...there's smoked fish...cold meats...cheese...fruit salad...chicken wings and vegan options, everything your heart desires...but sorry, the mini rolls are hard and just not good...!! It's incomprehensible that they can't offer halfway decent rolls to go with it...!

Good cuisine, fast service despite large interior and terrace

The beer garden is great, the ambiance rustic and pleasant. The food is mostly of the quality of a snack bar that uses all its ingredients from frozen foods and packets, especially the fried potatoes, which are simply inedible. The service is of the same quality as the food.

We were here for a stag night warm-up and devoured a fair amount of beer – the cellars were really on top of their game, with fantastic service! The food was top-notch, really tasty, and came quickly. Nothing to complain about. But your "pitcher" offer? Honestly – that was a joke. You don't save anything there. Maybe rework it?

We've been there for dinner several times and were always surprised. This was our first time there for breakfast and we were pleasantly surprised. We would definitely go back.

An absolute disappointment, never again! Our visit to the Frostbaumschule Restaurant & Beer Garden was simply unpleasant. The waitress, a black-haired girl with glasses, was extremely unfriendly. Not a word of greeting, not a smile; instead, the cutlery was carelessly thrown onto our table, along with our plates, as if we were a burden. The way guests were treated was disrespectful and unprofessional. I don't expect that in any restaurant, especially not in a beer garden, which is supposed to be known for its relaxed atmosphere. We ended our visit quickly and will definitely not be returning. There are plenty of other establishments where hospitality is still a top priority. And CLEANLINESS. The service was quite friendly and the fries were good. The currywurst was okay, but the curry sauce seemed more like regular spiced ketchup, which was a bit disappointing. The amount of mayonnaise provided was a positive. It was surprising that, despite the summer temperatures, there was no iced coffee on the menu. However, upon request, they suggested adding ice cubes to a cappuccino, which was fine, and ultimately served the purpose. Overall, a 3+/2-.

Especially in summer, it's a beautiful place to sit outside under the trees, with a huge beer garden, football broadcasts, and the occasional concert. Since it's often very crowded, you should expect some long waits.

We especially love the many outdoor seating areas, where you can sit outside even in bad weather. The food came quickly and was delicious.

It's been our garden restaurant in Kiel since we were students. It has a historic ambiance inside, great outdoor seating under the trees, delicious food, especially the currywurst and the burgers. A beautiful old tree nursery park invites you to stroll, a small children's playground within sight of parents, and sometimes hosts events like public viewing or jazz.

Fui aquí con mi marido y mi suegra. Ambos son Alemán , por lo que pudimos comunicarnos muy fácilmente con el personal. Llegamos entre el cambio de desayuno y almuerzo y nos ofrecieron elegir cuál queríamos y decidimos almorzar, asumiendo que no quedaría mucho del buffet de desayuno. Pedimos agua, 2 x Fritz-Kola, 2 x Fischpfanne 'Gorch Fock' para mí y mi marido, que tenía trozos de filete de pescado, camarones, patatas asadas y huevo frito. Mi suegra comió huevos revueltos con camarones. Las camareras y camareros fueron muy amables, aunque al principio un poco lentos. La comida tenía buen sabor pero era algo aceitosa, especialmente las patatas, que no estaban asadas como aconsejaban en el menú, sino más bien fritas y no bien escurridas, por lo que tampoco estaban muy crujientes. En general, la comida tenía buen sabor pero no era la mejor en términos de calidad de cocción. El ambiente era bueno y el entorno encantador, solo que es una pena que todavía se permita fumar en las mesas al aire libre.

I went here with my husband and mother-in-law. Both are German so could communicate really easy with the staff. We arrived between the breakfast/lunch change over and were offered the choice of which one we wanted and decided to have lunch, assuming there wouldn’t be much of the breakfast buffet left. We ordered water, 2 x Fritz-Kola, 2 x Fischpfanne ‘Gorch Fock’ for myself and my husband which had pieces of fish fillet, shrimp, roast potatoes and fried egg. My mother-in-law had scrambled eggs with shrimp. The waitresses and waiters were very friendly, although initially a bit slow. The food tasted nice but was rather oily, especially the potatoes, they weren’t roasted as advised on the menu, but more fried and not drained well at all so they weren’t very crisp either. Overall the food tasted nice but wasn’t the best in terms of cooking quality. The atmosphere was good, lovely surroundings as well, just a shame smoking is still permitted at the outdoor seating.

Whatever happened to good old Forsti? It now belongs to the category of restaurants that run on their own thanks to a unique selling point (here: its beautiful location in the park), without the need for good service or performance. In the past, you'd sit down at your table, as befits a beer garden, get your own drink and food, and be happy. Now, you're dependent on "service" throughout the entire outdoor area – young ladies and gentlemen who wander through the rows, overwhelmed, understaffed, annoyed, and disoriented. We waited 35 minutes until we had two drinks on the table. At a maximum of three-quarters capacity, that's ridiculous. That's why we decided against ordering from the completely overpriced menu. It's understandable to a certain extent that people flock to Kiel's supposedly only "beer garden" when the weather is nice. The Forstbaumschule hasn't earned this through its own efforts for a long time. You won't see us here again. Too bad!

Very slow service, preferring to spend 15 minutes chatting with other guests before taking an order. The food was okay. Prices were so-so.

It wasn't weather for outside in the evening, so we reserved a table inside for two couples. Good table. We could watch the people outside. They hadn't even noticed that it was weather for outside in the evening and seemed to be having a good time. ;-) So far so good. We could have had a lot to talk about. But there was a small group next to us at the long table. They obviously had a lot to talk about too - but because of the distance it was much louder. On the way home we rubbed our ears and were hoarse. Next time I order meat, I won't ask for "well done" from both sides... 😁 The service was attentive and friendly.

The ambiance and service are great, but the food is truly terrible. It's inedible even with the best will in the world. The spaetzle was terrible, and even the fries were terrible. But the service was excellent and very friendly.

A very quaint, cozy restaurant and a very attractive, large beer garden for Kiel. I'd almost say it's the only beer garden in Kiel (at least, one that can call itself a beer garden). The food and drinks are very good. It's usually quite busy, and unfortunately, this sometimes means waiting times for service, but the service is always attentive and customer-friendly. The beer garden is always a real treat in the summer/good weather. Occasionally, there's live music, a public viewing, or something similar. The breakfast buffet is also absolutely fantastic, as is the lunch menu. Prices are absolutely reasonable. I've enjoyed coming here for countless years. Highly recommended.

Here, you can sit comfortably inside or outside for any group size. The selection is diverse. The prices are reasonable. Even at peak times, the team keeps orders and guests under control.

Gehe schon seit Jahren hier hin und wieder essen, jedoch wird es immer schlechter. Gestern Sauerfleisch mit Bratkartoffeln. Das Sauerfleisch befand sich unter einem Berg Gelee/Glibber und schwamm im Dressing des auf dem Teller befindlichen Salates. Die Bratkartoffel eine absolute Frechheit. Nur aufgewärmt (lauwarm) und total labberig. Stimmt nicht ganz. Zwei Scheiben Kartoffeln schwarz vie Holzkohle und genau so bröselig. Beim letzten Besuch war die Pizza kalt. Total enttäuscht.

Every year when we vacation in Kiel, a visit to the forestry nursery is a must. The atmosphere is very nice. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The dishes were always very good and delicious. Thank you ---- See you next year

Ich war vor ein paar Wochen zum Samstagsfrühstück hier und heute (17.05.) wieder. Für den Preis möchte ich frische Brötchen vom Bäcker haben und keine kleinen Aufbackbrötchen. Die gab es beide Male. Da es auch keinen Süßstoff für den Tee gab, hab ich mir heute welchen von zu Hause mitgebracht. Letztes Mal fehlten Müsli + Milch. Die Bedienung war nett und aufmerksam. Ich glaube, ich frühstücke trotzdem lieber da, wo es wenigstens frische Brötchen gibt.

The seating is very comfortable there. The staff often makes small mistakes. Refilling the buffet isn't so efficient.

I can always recommend it. Very nicely located. Great, tasty food, a wide selection. If you're not satisfied 🤔, you should eat at home 😃 Good value for money. The daily fresh lunch menu is also highly recommended. 🌞👍😄

We've only been here three times and everything from the burger to the mussels was great. One star deducted because there is unfortunately far too little sauce with the schnitzel, so it is unfortunately a bit dry. PS the carrot cake is awesome.

Wunderbar! A Restaurant in the forest with an old german building where you can eat indoors in a cozy environment. The only thing disturbing is the loud volume. The food was great and not too expensive. When the weather is warm there's a big beer garden and also playgrounds nearby. You can even watch football games in the Bier Garten. There's nearby parking and it's easy to reach. I will definitely come again.

The ambience is very nice. Unfortunately the food wasn't that cool. We ordered calzones. Everything here was still raw. The dough wasn't fully baked yet either. It gave me a stomach ache. A little tip to the restaurant and the chef, perhaps fry the things that go into the calzone beforehand. After the fourth attempt, a pizza was handed to us and said it was the calzone. Went very unhappy. The beer tastes good, but you can't go wrong 🙂

Service very borderline rather bad! Today I had a schnitzel with fried potatoes, it wasn't very great! The schnitzel was dry, the fried potatoes were cold and sticky, bacon and onions were in short supply. Unfortunately I have to say that the last visit to this restaurant was three times, I went to the toilet three times

Great atmosphere, friendly and fast service and reasonable prices. Even the seats outside were heavily occupied.

I went there twice to eat (veggie and vegan burgers) and both times I was so disappointed with the price-performance ratio. The burgers are so overpriced at around €16, the fries have to be ordered additionally at a price of €3.30 and in each case either the patty or the bread was cold and dry. Service is another thing. Just because employees are walking around there doesn't mean that they (can/may/want to) take orders. Edit: I was forced to go there a third time. I haven't ordered anything myself for the reasons mentioned above. My companion (5 people) was disappointed across the board with the price-performance ratio. Therefore, I am adjusting my rating and reducing even more stars. Absolutely embarrassing and miserable.

We were there for a memorial service some time ago and felt comfortable.

Positive: the very nice, friendly service and that all 12 people got their food at the same time. The atmosphere is quite nice. That's it! Negative: It's a mystery to me how you can fry pork medallions so dry and hard that you have trouble cutting through them! Fried potatoes were too salty and too fatty! The vegetables were almost raw! There was also a small dollop of Dutch sauce. The "cappuccino" was a small cup of coffee with some milk foam on top. Had nothing to do with a cappuccino at all! Unfortunately, he wasn't hot either. For a draft 0.4 beer, €5.90 is simply too expensive. For us it was the last time. Don't you want to walk out of a restaurant and say: That was really delicious?

The good forestry... as we Kielers call it... has been a permanent institution in Kiel for years... The forest tree nursery is always possible and is always worth a visit! The outdoor area won with the flower box seats! I can't say how many times I've been here...very rarely that something didn't go well...once a pizza was cold...but it was warmed up/replaced...so everything was fine and my mom wasn't allowed to eat the grated cakes from the children's meals once...which was a shame...since she loves Rievkuche... What's great is that there are lunch specials...a seasonal menu...and the regular menu...there's something for everyone!

Sunday brunch must be reserved well in advance. It's very crowded for brunch on Sundays. Quality is okay, the employees are friendly and committed. You have to have a decent appetite to get your money's worth at Sunday brunch.

It's a shame... a table was ordered in time for over 20 people. Unfortunately nothing was ready and then they wanted to sit us at two rows of tables. But this was changed and shortly before it was finally finished, a waitress commented: Please let me know next time if you want to sit at a row of tables...um...It was reserved...a shame

Unfussy cuisine, rustic ambiance, particularly positive. The currywurst, fries, and salad bowl are particularly noteworthy. The Wiener Schnitzel is not recommended – it's too thick, stringy, and mediocre quality, with extremely greasy fried potatoes. If you're pre-ordering as a group, you have to specifically mention that you want to sit together. The service was mostly friendly when approached, but they never asked for drinks, dessert, etc.

Always worth a trip! It's a very nice atmosphere, especially in the Christmas month with the fir trees next door and the winter specials. But in general I can also wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. It has charm & the food is delicious. I also really like it here in larger groups with family or friends. I would recommend reserving in advance.

I've been to Kiel for years and it's always worth a visit

Wir kommen immer sehr gerne in die Forstbaumschule, die Lage ist super und die Atmosphäre entspannt und freundlich. Für Familien mit Kindern perfekt😀👍 Wir sind auch gerne zum Frühstück hier, doch leider sind seit länger Zeit der Kaffee und auch die Brötchen wirklich nicht gut. Das ist sehr schade, weil das Angebot beim Frühstücksbufett sehr gut und schmackhaft ist. Wir würden gerne einmal wieder Freunde einladen zu einem Geburtstagsfrühstück, aber wenn man vorher schon weiß, das der Kaffee nicht schmeckt und die Brötchen zu wünschen übrig lassen, läßt man es lieber gleich.....sehr schade.

The forest tree nursery is worth a visit in summer and winter. The ambience inside is, in my opinion, rustic. There is a beer garden in summer. It is actually almost always advisable to reserve a table in order to avoid waiting times (the restaurant is particularly busy at lunchtime in summer). The dishes are very diverse, from vegan and vegetarian to meat and fish. So there is something for everyone and there are different weekly/daily offers. The home-made lemonades are highly recommended. The dishes are prepared with love and dedication. I find the portion size to be sufficient. It may take a little longer until the food is at the table, but that's still within reason. Things can get louder in a restaurant when the house is full. There is street parking as well as a small parking lot near the restaurant. If you have the opportunity, you should give the forest tree nursery a try.

Always a new experience...whether in the morning, evening or afternoon

It is always something special to come to the forest tree nursery. This time I was there for the breakfast buffet during the week and it tasted great. At the weekend there is more choice, but it is also more expensive, but what is there is enough. The only shame I found was that the chocolate mousse was no longer made and there was no fruit either. We weren't there until 11 a.m. for breakfast, where the food was still available, but when we wanted to go there everything was empty and unfortunately nothing more was done
