Christmas Day Menu Pre-soups delicious. Especially the tomato soup. Various main courses. Rabbit, roast venison, schnitzel, etc. were very good. We had dumplings, red cabbage, mushrooms and kohlrabi vegetables as a side dish. The dessert of vanilla ice cream with baked apple filling garnished with berries was very tasty. The service was friendly to us despite the busyness. It's good that people like that still exist. Many many thanks.

We were there once during the year about 2 or 3 years ago. We were really happy, which is why we planned our Christmas dinner there this year. Unfortunately, today's visit completely disappointed us, so I have to at least advise against the Christmas campaign. The change of guests was so uncoordinated that new guests had to wait unnecessarily. The waitress is probably not a trained service person. You definitely shouldn't go hungry. It's like customization. Enormous waiting times just for the drinks. The food was heavily influenced by convenience food, or at least that was the impression. I like to eat and am against wasting food, especially if you paid 35 euros for the menu. But here I actually wasn't able to eat out. The dumplings had nothing to do with Thuringian dumplings, just disgusting (we only heard negative things at the neighboring tables). The starter soup (tomato soup) was bitter and tasted indefinable. The mushrooms weren't canned (which is a good thing), but the sauce was awfully thin, almost watered down. The goose was totally salty. The children's chocolate ice cream was not ice cream but rather a thicker chocolate sauce that had once been frozen. And the baked apple dessert was ok but there was no trace of apple. I had the kangaroo roast, which (i.e. the meat) was really good and really tender. However, for the money I was deeply disappointed. And before we react here, the question that was asked in between was whether everything was right, no, it wasn't. Every time I asked, “Did it taste good?” We answered no every time. Then we just laughed, like we were joking. We expressed our dissatisfaction after every course. There was no concession or attempt to save anything. I could write more, but I want to forget this experience as quickly as possible.

Christmas dinner for 35 euros per person, drinks extra. The food didn't taste good, it was largely convenience food or cooked with ready-made sauces etc. The staff was not professional. The timing wasn't right. The food was ordered for 1:15 p.m., the main course was “finally” on the table at 2:35 p.m. No Christmas atmosphere, we had to light the candle at the table ourselves. The restaurant was overcrowded, our table was actually for 5 people, but 8 people were seated. Everything was tightly and illogically planned. The side dishes were not on the plates, but there was no space on the table for the bowls with the side dishes either. The “boss” doesn’t seem to be an expert either. He reacts unprofessionally to understandable criticism. This would have been solved differently in a good restaurant. As a family we agreed: never again! An example of the unprofessional food: the edges were generally not cleaned. This is how the "de luxe" dessert was served... see photo.

The logistics of hosting a group of 100 guests is commendable. The sauerbraten is really great and the ice cream creation for dessert is also highly recommended. Many thanks to everyone from the team.

The chef speaks very derogatoryly at times. If you have an open kitchen, you should think about what you say out loud. The service often has no insight. The taste was just okay.

Very nice from the outside, not entirely new inside. It smells strongly of kitchen and that's what you smell like at the end. Service is a bit harsh to unfriendly. You don't really feel welcome. The food is and cake/pie too. More rustic and traditional. It's nice that something like this still exists.

The staff was overloaded. We waited 1.5 hours for the food. And it would have taken even longer if we hadn't made our presence known. The food cannot be described as good. Most people do better at home.

With a group of 42 people, we were looking for a place to have dinner at short notice (after canceling the planned restaurant due to technical problems). The Finkenstube helped out spontaneously and in a very friendly manner. The food (for me beef roulade, dumplings and red cabbage) was very tasty. The service was friendly and humorous. Thanks for the spontaneous hospitality! I definitely recommend the Finkenstube!!!

Geburtstag unserer Großeltern gefeiert, das Essen war gelungen, der Service freundlich und schnell, obwohl neben unserer Feiergesellschaft noch ein Klassentreffen und eine weitere spontan hinzugenommene Gesellschaft mit ca. 42 Personen bewirtschaftet werden wollte. Wir waren sehr zufrieden.

Many thanks to the entire Finkenstube team. Service was top and courteous. The roasts and roulades were all tender and very tasty. The traditional red cabbage also went great with it! Starters soup and salad were fresh. Thank you for the very good hospitality. We had a pleasant stay. The orangery with park is nearby and is worth a visit.

We celebrated our grandparents' 90th birthday here, the food was successful, extras such as gluten-free food were taken into account, the service was friendly and fast, although in addition to our party there was also a class reunion and another spontaneously added party with around 42 people wanted. We were very satisfied.

Very good service, even at large family celebrations. Food with tasty game meat. If necessary, food intolerances will be well informed and the menu will be changed. You know your stuff, a real recommendation for those with celiac disease.

Wir haben reserviert - ist bestimmt sinnvoll, außer es ist EM... Das Essen war bodenständig und soweit ok - für uns waren die Portionen zu groß. Sauerbraten, Knödel und Rotkohl waren m. E. allesamt aufgetaut und dann zubereitet. Mein Schweine-Steak war mit Ragout und Käse überbacken - geschmacklich gut aber viel zu üppig. Wenn man gerne deftig essen möchte, bestimmt eine gute Option. Das Personal war freundlich und auch das Ambiente "gut bürgerlich" passt!

Wir haben unser Getränkecatering für eine Open-Air-Veranstaltung über die Finkenstube laufen lassen und waren sehr zufrieden. Auch kurzfristige Änderungen und Wünsche wurden umgesetzt und der Kontakt war sehr freundlich.

We celebrated our wedding in the Finkenstube on Saturday, May 4th, 2024. We can only warmly recommend this restaurant because the entire team is very friendly and attentive, from the service staff to the kitchen to the boss. The food is super tasty and the price-performance ratio is also good. In this restaurant, your every wish is met. We'll definitely be back. If there were 10 stars, in our opinion this restaurant would also deserve the full 10 stars. Keep it up and we'll definitely see each other again. Thank you for this wonderful wedding celebration. As a guest in Gera, I found the restaurant again via Google Review. That's initially a non-appearance. Today it was self-service and no food from the menu, just no choice written on a small school blackboard with chalk. Presumably the cook, apparently the girl in charge, made an effort. I was also the only customer in the restaurant. You could offer an extra meal, but that takes time. As I said, I couldn't see any other guests. I was there at lunchtime, maybe things will look different in the evening. I went and found a good sophisticated substitute for food next door.

The food was great, only the salad could use the Vinegret. Great quiet atmosphere and very nice service. Everything clean and familiar. The Finkenstube has roasts as a specialty and I can only agree with that. Really good and the portions are the right size too. The prices are not super cheap, but overall fair for today's times, the food and service on offer. Gladly again

I came from Munich and found it very cozy here. As the title of a book says, "it doesn't always have to be caviar." I liked the food service and ambience. The funny waiter could go to lifelines or write a book. The portion was huge and delicious.

There were about 12 of us and we had pre-ordered. The restaurant was well attended but not full. We waited about an hour for our food, which took too long for everyone. When you then hear how the staff are “enjoying” the kitchen, you’ve already half forgotten it. The food was ok, good but not outstandingly good. What was again great in a negative sense, in addition to the enormous prices, was the waiting time for the bill. Conclusion for us: you can eat there if you don't go hungry, but we probably won't go back straight away

I can't recommend the restaurant at all. The food was totally overpriced... different sized portions, and a lot of flavor enhancers. The service was unqualified. Just the question from the waitress: I have here... 1x fries and 1x fried potatoes with... no idea what that is. You should perhaps find out beforehand what you are bringing to the guest. The dumplings were completely overcooked and tasted like they came out of the bag. I definitely won't be eating there again with my family. By the way, it is probably deliberate that there are no prices on the menu on the Internet.

Our special thanks to the owner of this location, Finkenstube. They managed to make Christmas Day a nightmare!!! The food (€35 per menu) was a catastrophe, the service was catastrophically confusing, the apology espresso was incomplete. Could there be more? We wanted to present Thuringian gastronomy to our Christmas visit, but that went completely wrong. We will never cross this threshold again:

PIilze aus der Dose nicht toll Dafür das an dem Tag eingentlich nicht so voll war kamen die mir sehr gestresst vor schade

Wir waren zum Klassentreffen im Lokal. Alle waren super nett und freundlich. Das Essen hat uns allen geschmeckt. Beim Verlassen wurden wir gefragt ob es uns gefallen hat, das gibt es ja sonst nirgendwo. Vielen Dank für den gelungenen Abend.

Zur Geburtstagsfeier habe ich mit Freunden in der Finkenstube gefeiert. Das Essen war lecker, das Personal super. Es war eine perfekte Feier mit viel Lob von den Gästen. Parkplätze im Hof waren auch reichlich vorhanden. Gern wieder.

Das Essen war lecker und mit der aktuellen sommerktion zahlt man nur 1 von 2 Hauptgerichten Man musste einige Wartezeit einplanen und die Stimmung unter den Mitarbeitern war unterirdisch (es hören auch die Gäste man man sich lauthals beschimpft und über die Bestellungen beschwerd) daher für das Ambiente nur 2 Punkte

Eine sehr schöne Gaststätte. Sehr leckeres Essen und erstaunlich viel Platz. Kann ich mit gutem Gewissen weiterempfehlen.

Ich wurde sehr freundlich empfangen. Das Essen verdient sicherlich keinen Michelin Stern, war aber trotzdem lecker.

So einen aufmerksamen Service hatte ich seit Jahren nicht! Immer wieder Kaffee nachgeschenkt, schnell abgeräumt und stets wurde nach offenen Wünschen gefragt. Der Chef persönlich hat uns bedient. Die von uns vorbestellten Canapés und Kuchenstücken waren sehr gut und reichlich, die Soljanka und das Würzfleisch wie gewünscht in klassischer Weise. Der Platz für unsere 30-Personen-Gesellschaft war absolut ausreichend.

Wir waren etwas irritiert über die Anrede, wir wurden gefragt, ob wir schon mal da waren, als wir verneinten sagte der Angestellte wir müssten am Tresen bestellen und das Essen usw. auch da selbst abholen. Müsste draußen eigentlich Selbstbedienung dranstehen... Essen hat geschmeckt das Bier nicht.

Meine Lammkeule für fast 26€ war ein Keulchen, welches ausgelaugt und ohne Geschmack auf den Tisch kam...dazu eine Schüssel mit irgendwelchen Bohnen mit Mehlpaps und Knödel, welche zusammen geklebt waren. Mein Mann hatte Hisch zum selben Preis, nur Rotkraut dazu, Getränke total überteuert...nie wieder! Ach ja, es war Sonntag und wir waren die einzigen Gäste

War angenehm überrascht das Essen war gut sehr gut vor allem die Fleischstücken waren auch Stücke und keine dünnen Schuhsohlen da hat man noch Fleischgeschmack und die Lammkeule war auch gut sehr zart.

Essen war qualitativ leider nur mittelmäßig.

Wir waren im November das erstemal zum Gaenseessen dort und nachdem wir so begeistert waren, haben wir uns mal vorgenommen, das naechstemal "a la carte" dort zu essen. Leider ein mittlerer Reinfall, weil wir uns fuer das gleiche Gericht entschieden hatten. Sauerbraten mit Klöße und Rotkohl. Klöße und Rotkohl top, leider war der Sauerbraten bei beiden nicht so zart wie er haette sein sollen. Schade, kann aber passieren. Haetten wir fruehzeitig reklamiert, haetten wir eine neue Portion bekommen. Nächstemal dann die Kohlrouladen.... ;-)

Hier werden sie geholfen! Hatte vor dem Theaterbesuch nur wenig Zeit und obwohl die Hütte "brannte", hat mir das Team weltmeisterlich schnell noch sehr solide Thüringer Küche zubereitet. 1a Experience!
