Felsendome Rabenstein in Chemnitz

Many thanks to the Rock Domes. We visited the mine and restaurant today with a group of children. The service was excellent and they even organized a treasure hunt. A wonderful day.

Unfortunately, we were not satisfied. We had to wait a long time for the service staff, even though it was very quiet. There was no lighting in the parking lot or at the main entrance. That's unacceptable. It was already dark, and we couldn't see anything. Be careful on the step at the main entrance. The food was okay. We missed the Erzgebirge cuisine advertised on the website. The knives were dull. Very disappointing.

Due to countless detours, we had to postpone the trip...it was just too annoying to get there 😏

Mine tours are available hourly. Next door is a very good restaurant with outdoor seating in the summer. Plenty of parking is available on a gravel lot and directly at the restaurant.

I've been here several times for my birthday. I've visited the mountain cave several times now; it's a good and adequate tour. The food is fine for me; it tastes delicious and is plentiful. We enjoyed it. They even called a taxi for us. I'd be happy to come back if needed. Great atmosphere, quaint decor, and cute partitions.

This review refers exclusively to the mine. The tour was very interesting. However, there was hardly anything to see. The LED spotlights are so poorly placed that you are very blinded and can't see the beauties. Everything is either light or dark, with no intermediate shades. The marble structures, in particular, should be properly illuminated. The same applies to the crystal-clear groundwater deposits. Please, please, revise your lighting concept and seek help from specialists. You can achieve much more with this!

Since we were only there to visit the Domes of the Rock, we can't comment on the food or the atmosphere. The reception area of ​​the Domes of the Rock is clean and tidy, inviting a visit. We appreciated the notice board with the time of the next tour. There is plenty of seating outside. Otherwise, it was a nice little informative tour. Our questions were also answered with pleasure. The prices for tours are reasonable. We highly recommend a visit.

Here, too, you can enjoy comfortable and excellent dining. I've been very satisfied twice in the last month. The nearby Felsendome and Karl-Schmidt-Rottluff-Haus are also very worthwhile.

A very nice, quaint restaurant with charm, furnished in rustic oak. The service and friendliness could definitely be improved. The food was average, nothing that would make me want to go there again.

Excellent food, lovely atmosphere, friendly service

We took a tour of the cave. It's an old limestone quarry, and the cave has been completely renovated to allow public access. You can also dive in the cave, in incredibly clear water! The acoustics are fantastic, which is especially evident in the area where weddings are held.

Guided tours take place hourly. Adults pay €8. Photography is unfortunately not permitted inside. Worth seeing, adventurous, but also chilly! It's 7.5 degrees Celsius down below, so bring a jacket. Wear sturdy shoes, as it's damp down there. You should be a good walker.

The tour was very informative, and the guide also added humor to some of the details. Very entertaining! The time in the humid cave, which was only 8° Celsius (46°F), flew by. We'd love to come back.

The tour of the old mine on Saturday, July 19, 2025, was a lot of fun, entertaining, and very interesting. It was also great for children. A big thank you to our mine guide.

Beautiful ambiance, but unfortunately we had to wait longer, even though we only wanted drinks. The tour of the Domes of the Rock was very interesting; we had a great guide who explained the whole thing very well. No pictures! This is expressly prohibited several times.

It's a shame, the atmosphere is wonderful, but the service is terrible. We ordered two spicy meats, waited an hour, and got nothing. The drinks were already empty by then, and no response. 🤷🏼‍♂️. What we hear time and time again was unfortunately confirmed for us today. A huge amount of potential isn't being utilized. Sad 😞

About the restaurant: great atmosphere, the food was delicious and arrived quickly, and the service was really good! About the mine: very worth seeing, the tour was fun and very informative! However, you should be aware that tours require a minimum of two adults, photography is not allowed in the mine, and children must be 6 years old or older to enter.

We celebrated my daughter's wedding in the Felsendome barn. The service was simply great and so was the food. Price/performance was top. A screen and projector can also be provided upon request. The whole ambience was just perfect. I can only recommend it. We were very satisfied and excited.

A beautiful location, quiet with lots of trees. Unfortunately the beer garden was still closed, but looked very cozy. The food was great. The furnishings are beautifully done.

The Felsenkeller Rabenstein is a dream of a rustic and extremely cozy old German tavern. From the telephone reservation to the arrival and the spacious parking lot - everything was perfect here. Even though we arrived almost half an hour early, we received the warmest welcome and were escorted to our table. In general, the service staff was very attentive, friendly and quick the entire time. Here you notice that the guest is still king and not just a necessary evil. The ambience is rustic, with lots of wood, as you would expect from pubs of this type. The walls and ceilings are decorated with hand-painted pictures and sayings; each room is lovingly and appropriately designed in its own way. The menu contains everything that German and Erzgebirge cuisine has to offer in combination with a selection of great wines and beers. (e.g. Staropramen dark!!!) We didn't have to wait long after placing our order. Starters, main courses and desserts, everything came quickly and on time. There were eight of us, we had eight different dishes and everyone enjoyed it excellently. Finally, one should also mention the clean and modern sanitary facilities, which pleasantly round off the impressive overall picture. Of course, the price-performance ratio was also great, so you can give this 5 stars with a clear conscience.

We were looking for something that was a little different than the usual places. I came across this great restaurant. Chatting with locals at the entrance. They said good decision. We went here for dinner as a group - the first time for me. I was pleasantly surprised, the food was home-style, tasted very good, and the portions were huge. Service was very friendly, everything was clean and comfortable. I only deduct it because the menu is not very extensive and unfortunately has almost no selection of light dishes (fish, vegetarian, etc.).

Unfortunately, service decreases more and more in the evening, so you have to be thrown out. Orders are no longer accepted and you are forced to checkout. This can be done in a friendlier way, even if it gets late.

Excellent restaurant in the countryside with an attached attraction in Chemnitz, the “Felsendome” visitor mine. The innkeeper always organizes two legendary “hangover breakfasts” with fireworks at the beginning of the year.

I visited this restaurant on November 8th, 2024 as part of a company pre-Christmas party. The declared goal of everyone involved was to eat. Since I am a very frugal parrot and had recently paid €25 for a hike with alpacas, I set myself a limit of €25 for food and drink. When I looked at the map, I realized that my plan was daring but definitely feasible. First I decided on a large apple spritzer. This left me with about 4/5 of my budget for solid food. However, the spritzer seemed to me to be very mixed in the innkeeper's favor. I've already drank a lot of apple spritzers in my eventful life. Rarely, however, has one of them been so economical with juice and so generous with water. Due to the limit I set for myself, the selection of dishes was quite manageable for me. As a starter I chose the fine ragout with tender chicken and mushrooms. I have to admit that the portion really wasn't large, but the taste completely convinced me. Rarely have I had such a tasty ragout Fin. Plus point. For the main course I chose the children's plate of noodles. Penne with tomato sauce. This dish was delivered in what appeared to be a normal sized deep plate. However, upon closer inspection, the plate turned out to be a serious deception. It felt like only around two dozen penne noodles fit into the cavity, which was far too small for food. Hungry children must feel really fooled when they look at the plate. Minus point for the tiny portion. Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed with the taste of the pasta either. They just tasted normal, like noodles. Nothing special. A little salt and the tomato sauce also seemed a bit bland. There was also a little grated cheese. However, the price was reasonable for the taste and quantity and didn't break my budget. For all three things, i.e. spritzer, ragout fin and the penne, I was €19.10. So I was able to round up to €20 during the payment process and even had €5 left. The other dishes that I saw on my companions' plates were, at least in terms of quantity, more lavish than my penne. In terms of price, however, most of them were close to my limit, sometimes even higher. Overall it was a pleasant visit. The restaurant was cozy and well-kept. It was nice and warm too.

We came here for lunch on Saturday, November 9, 24, after a long absence as part of a family celebration. ... and were unfortunately disappointed. The quality of the food is in stark contrast to the prices quoted. Processed convenience products in almost every item on the menu. As examples, the ordered beef roulade, 2 small ready-made dumplings, red cabbage that tasted suspiciously like canned food, a mini roulade that was definitely not prepared in-house and was more reminiscent of the food suppliers Merkel and Karstens in terms of taste, with the difference that here for this dish the multiple price of 25 euros was demanded. A pasta dish for the hefty price of 23 euros, carelessly seasoned, no trace of the promised garlic, garnished with a few rubbery shrimps. In short, an annoying failure, we will definitely not be coming back.

Under all hell. Were there today for the Christmas party and came with 18 people. We got 3 tables for 6 even though there was enough space for a table. Then there were 4 menus for a table of 6 and you had to order drinks immediately and didn't have time to choose something in peace. Later you weren't asked again if you wanted anything else. Both waitresses were very unfriendly and generally very poor service. Food was ok. We were there for the first and last time. A mine tour can be recommended.

I went to the Rabenstein Rock Dome today and regretted not having been there earlier. The tour was very pleasant, interesting and informative. A lot of the story was told about how it all started, developed and improved. About the difficult times of the friends. How they worked. How many brines there were and are. The play of light from the spotlights highlighting the different types of rock. You can also get married down there 👰 if you want. The ambience would be excellent for this. And there are different species of bats living down there. But don't worry, they are peaceful. The visit to the Dome of the Rock was very worth it. Thank you again for the pleasant morning. If you feel hungry afterwards, you can satisfy your hunger in the restaurant right next door. The food is excellent and varied. LG 😂

We were in the beer garden in beautiful weather, everything worked, all we needed were a few cushions for the chairs and benches. Staff was very friendly, everything was fine.

3 stars for the mine and 0! Stars for the leader. Questions were unwelcome and when a question was answered it was very unfriendly. You rushed through the mine and had far too little time to see everything properly. At the sales point you only got annoyed answers about the minerals and you could tell that the lady wanted to get rid of you again. Just really sad.

I was there with my family in the first week of July 2024. We really enjoyed taking part in a tour of the grotto. The companion conveyed the useful information to us beautifully and with a lot of humor. The one hour at 7 degrees air temperature didn't seem too long to us. It may be that if we had had small children with us, things might have been a little different. The subsequent visit to the restaurant was also very tasteful. The food and ambience of the place is very rustic.

After 20 minutes we got the menu and ordered food and drink straight away, the drink came after 10 minutes and we had to wait over 1 1/2 hours for the food. That's not at all clear, we missed the tour as a result, we rushed to eat, but if you're just waiting for 1 hour and 50 minutes, then you just can't recommend it. There wasn't much going on, it just seemed like they didn't feel like serving us, even when we asked we had to wait another 20 minutes. Service is terribly bad.

We were in the Felsendome “Show Mine” and were very disappointed. We were there shortly after 2 p.m. and had to wait outside in the rain because the ticket booth was closed and no one was there. The benches in front of them were no longer dry or in good condition. When the previous tour came back around 2:35 p.m., the house wasn't opened, so we had to wait another 20 minutes in the rain. When we wanted to pay after 3 p.m. (3 p.m. start of the tour), the guide complained to us because we only had 60€ and we had to pay our 42€ (4 adults (8€ per person) and two primary school children (5€ per person)). didn't fit. She then told us in an unfriendly and annoyed manner that we adults should take a helmet. When my son asked whether he could have one (of course it was something special and both were looking forward to it), I was met with annoyance and the same sentence from before twice: "Only adults take a helmet!" We couldn't react so quickly to how she "turned on" us and especially our children. When we started almost 10 minutes late, she said unkindly: See you at the barrier tape! When we had gathered there, 6 people, 2 primary school children and a toddler in a stroller, she began to tell us the information and the ban on photography in a monotone, in exaggerated standard German and memorized. (And that's how she talked about the entire tour.) In the mine itself, there was hardly any time to look at anything. Because as soon as she was through with the information she had memorized, she always said: “Here we go” and was gone. For the longest time we listened to information about the possibility of a wedding in the mine and a very long song there. Then diving was discussed several times. Otherwise nothing came, apart from the numbers that had been memorized with lots of foreign words and questions that could only be asked at the end. But you didn't really dare to ask anything. Firstly, questions were already forgotten at this point and secondly, she was standing there in front of a spotlight, so you couldn't even see her to actually start a conversation with her. But what annoyed me most was that children were not wanted and that they were not taken into account. My two children didn't understand very much about the years, lengths or foreign words and my son constantly asked me everything in a whisper and my daughter asked my husband. They were hanging with us firstly because it was dark (not a lot of spotlights) and secondly because we didn't pay any attention to the lady and because she was insulted at the beginning, for no real reason. We paid €10 for two children. In addition, there were two really small corridors (1.40m deep) and very narrow where children could have bumped into each other, but they weren't allowed to wear a helmet! Although there were enough. I don't understand why there is no protection for children. After all, something can happen to them there too, just like it does to adults! Because at 1.35 m, my daughter is no longer small, given these gaits. And when we got back we realized it was only 3:35 p.m. Where were the 40 minutes of leadership? We were only inside for 25 minutes for €42. So it's far too expensive for something that isn't very informative (because we could definitely have gotten this information from the Internet) and the pictures on the Internet look so nice, but not really in real life, because of the darkness. Although interesting, but not worth it for the money. We didn't go to the restaurant at all and relied on the bad reviews this time. Really not recommended for children and people who want to see rather than hear.

In the summer we often go for a quick dinner after going swimming in the restaurant's beer garden and have basically never been disappointed 👍 Friendly, fast and courteous service staff... delicious "home-style" food... good selection on the menu... pleasant Ambiance in the outdoor area... what more could you want... 😉

Great tour👍 Sympathetic with a certain sense of humor. Restaurant good food, unfortunately completely overwhelmed, unfriendly service, with the restaurant almost empty. Waited 1 hour for pancakes ;) I think says it all. No apologies whatsoever and just stroppy answers. Follow-up drink requests were no longer requested. Not recommendable !!!

We visited the Dome of the Rock with students. I found it a bit strange that the man who led us through the mine was smoking next to the students. The tour began and he made it clear right from the start that when he speaks, no one has to talk. When a student asked an unauthorized question, he was addressed accordingly. You could tell again and again that he had no interest in us. He rattled off his text listlessly and quickly. The jokes he made were sometimes hurtful. After the tour, we tried to talk to him so that he could apologize to the student he had hurt greatly. He did so, albeit half-heartedly. At the same time complained that the students were uninterested. They weren't, but they didn't get a chance to ask. He only allowed one student to do this. The visit is not recommended.
