I have never been to a restaurant before where I was so impressed by the ambience, the furnishings and the type of service. The food is absolute madness. The service is friendly and exactly at my level of humor. They also listen to you if you don't know exactly what you want to drink and recommend what suits you. The furnishings and decoration are incredibly ingenious and you keep discovering new details throughout. Unfortunately you can only give 5 stars.

We were there yesterday. It was amazing, the food was absolutely delicious, the service was excellent (they were always there to help us with advice), and the restaurant had a truly quaint, medieval feel. It won't be our last visit. We definitely recommend it!

Absolute recommendation! The food was super tasty and not such "standard" medieval recipes. Definitely something special. As vegetarians, we also have a good selection. Our service was absolutely great. Funny sayings, courteous, we felt very comfortable. The ambience is appropriate and there is something new to look at on every corner. I can only recommend eating there and it won't be the last time I'll be there. 5 Star Plus⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟

Super delicious, I had the gallows fris(s)t and a delicious malty beer, Das Abt. And the 3 dips, simply super delicious, and the hidden bacon in the fried potatoes <3 love goes to the chef!

Very rustic medieval restaurant with excellent food that you can hardly find in any other restaurant. The menu also offers delicious dishes for vegetarians and vegans. Nice attentive service. Delicious, unusual beers such as cherry beer or black Abt are on offer. An insider tip for anyone who wants to try something different.

All in all just good. I love bars and restaurants that have an overall concept with a story that fits! Delicious fresh food with good quality taste at a reasonable price. And even when eating, a presentation adapted to the name of the dish (gallows deadline). Super friendly and authentic service. Furnishings corresponding to the name "Purgatory" were a bit demonic, witch-like, dark... - I liked it overall because it fits into the overall concept. Clear recommendation. If I'm in Münster again I would go here again. We were here with colleagues on a business trip.

We were there for the Christmas party. Great service (love the style there), really good food of very good quality and great advice on drinks etc. I can only recommend it. Really worth a visit (or several). :-)

We were there with nine people, and without making a reservation three weeks in advance, nothing is possible on Saturday. Purgatory was packed and the crew had everything under control with their very own charm. If you're looking for schnitzel, fries and pizza, you've definitely come to the wrong place. Each of our meals, Knödelchen, Galgenfrist, Hohlbirne, Rüdiger and Nervesage, was excellent, excellent cuisine in a lovingly "purgatorial" atmosphere. We'll definitely be back.

Simply a really cool restaurant with a great theme and a very well-implemented interior. You felt comfortable from start to finish and the staff was very funny and accommodating. Always happy when I'm in Münster.

Rarely have I met such great people who manage to make all their guests feel good, really welcome them and spread so much good cheer! The restaurant was fully booked and the hosts had fun everywhere! No matter whether young or old, there were only happy, laughing people there! Great! Highly recommended - and just because I mentioned it - the food was great! ;) Thanks to the team for 2 great, fun evenings.

A medieval/fantasy genre restaurant with friggin delicious food and otherworldly decorations. The owner was also the waiter and he gave us lots of recommendations for the perfect mead and food. He even sat down with us to talk roleplay. for me, as an avid fantasy geek and TTRPG lover, visiting the Fegefeuer was the best thing that could have happened to me (it was even my birthday which made it unforgettable). I will be back many times and I can't wait! Thank you Fegefeuer for the evening!

The food is incredibly tasty, fresh and lovingly prepared, very attractively presented and there are delicious vegan or vegetarian dishes. The ambience is unique and may not suit everyone's taste... but mine even more so and it reflects the name 'Purgatory' very well... and that's how it should be 😉😃

LOCATION The Purgatory Restaurant is located on a quiet street not far from the train station. A large parking garage is practically right in front of the door, so you only have a short walk to the restaurant. AMBIENCE The ambience is rustic, quaint and contributes to the entertainment. The concept of the restaurant is clearly recognizable. The niche that this restaurant has found, it skillfully occupies. When you've been in business for over 25 years, that has to mean something. SERVICE The service guys are extremely attentive and super motivated. There is a lot of demand and we make sure that the guests don't lack anything. If necessary, you can also get advice, which is a big plus. The sprinkling of old German words also makes the service seem appropriate to the concept. EAT Who has a large steak and the sesame chicken. Both tasted great, although I personally think that the chicken had a bit too much sesame breading, as the taste of the sesame dominates the chicken. The portions were large. PRICES We paid a little over €70 for two meals and two drinks for two people. That's a bit higher than you're used to. CONCLUSION It's just fun to eat in a restaurant where people want to do their job. The dishes are imaginative, creative and unusual. The prices are a bit high. If you're in the mood for something different, this is the right place for you.

A great restaurant with super friendly service. Something medieval but without clinging to it too tightly. Basically a mix of new and very old. There is something interesting to discover on every wall, even in the toilet. It's just fun to sit here for a longer period of time, eat and drink something delicious and snack.

Food was child sized for twice the price. I found it almost cheeky as there were no drinks listed on the menu and there were no grams of information about the meat on the menu either. The atmosphere was pleasant, the waiter only wanted to send two colleagues away, which was a bit unpleasant, but otherwise he was ok. Would never eat there again as there was no way I was full.

Discovery while staying at a nearby hotel, I was surprised the receptionist didn’t know the place and couldn’t recommend it. However, I went there to experience what other reviewers have posted: a medieval/wizard-y environment with friendly staff tou can share a good laugh with! I had the venison wellington and I enjoyed it a lot! Good beer, good food and good mood; it was an experience and I enjoyed it!

I have to say one of the best experiences in Münster The food, amazing. First restaurant in the city that actually served me a rare stake first try. Service impeccable. The servers speaking excellent English, engaged and took their time to explain things to me, to make sure I choose a Mead that I will like. The most intriguing and beautiful decorations, so special and different from what you usually see. Will be definitely going again.

Great atmosphere, really cool decor. The staff was very friendly and courteous. The titles of the dishes make you want to eat, which also tastes exceptional. The prices are a little higher, but absolutely worth the money.

We were made to feel extremely welcome from the moment we arrived. The food was really tasty and plentiful. The place had a lovely atmosphere, there were only 2 waiting staff and they never stopped at any point during our time there. They stopped to chat and told us about Muenster. Would definitely go back to try more from their menu and will recommend to friends.

The two of us were there last year. Delicious, hearty, manageable food at increased prices. The entertainment and ambience were really nice, medieval, loud and unusual at the same time, fitting the name. Staff was friendly and competent.

My review comes a little late, a month later. We ate there two days in a row, the service was fantastic, we had a great time! The waiter and all other service staff made it possible for us to eat there for two days despite the house being full. We'll be happy to come back, even if it takes us two hours to get to Münster. I've never had so much fun in a restaurant. And the food and drink was a 10/10. Maybe we'll see each other at the trade fair in Düsseldorf :D! Kind regards from Cologne!

Waiting 90 minutes for the food, sorry this is just too long. Especially if you have an appetite... It was my first time here and, according to the wait staff, the long waiting times were normal on a Saturday. But too much for me and the day was probably not your day. One table left because it took too long and the other table's order was wasted. The food was ok, but for the price it was out of the question, especially because of the waiting time. The quick-witted, communicative, friendly service cannot compensate for this. The deer was dry and tough, a shame. The gallows time plate was OK.

Delicious food, interesting ambience, even if you sit for hours there is still something to discover, creative menu, friendly service and always in the mood for fun. Whenever I'm in Münster, I like to come back again and again. No matter where you go, I will find you! ;)

We were there today on Easter Sunday, it was a very quaint and beautiful suburb, we were served very nicely and felt comfortable. I ate the (gallows plate) and it was very, very tasty. Something really different, with love. Kudos to the kitchen :) We'd love to come back.

The service is attentive and can provide expert advice on the various types of mead and beer. The food was served quickly. We had “Galgenfris(s)t” and “Einmal die 18”. Both dishes were excellently prepared. We are more than thrilled. I don't think I've ever had a better vegetarian dish. Therefore the prices are more than justified.

Anyone who eats in Münster should go to purgatory. No landing in Münster has such a great atmosphere. The service is great, not only super friendly, but also funny and personable. The food is great. But the best thing is the drinks. Everyone has to try the Abt, accompanied by a mead. I recommend the Heide Met. I also come there alone just to drink and have never been disappointed. The prices are also really fair. If you don't stop there, it's your own fault :) Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Perfect, friendly service, delicious beer. Unfortunately, the price/performance ratio for the food was not right. The Kalberey was characterized by very sweet sauce on the one hand and very salty pointed cabbage on the other. Plus soft pasta combined with glass noodles for 24 euros. Not really recommended!

We went to Purgatory for dinner. Reservation in advance by email went smoothly. The service on site is very nice and authentic. I would particularly like to highlight the menu, which offers a wide variety, including vegetarian dishes, without losing track of the menu. Everyone enjoyed the food. However, especially in the vegetarian dishes, the ratio of “main part” and filling side dish could have been a little more balanced, as most of it was just a side dish. But we would definitely like to come back!

Absolutely great location with fantastic food and fun service! Everything is very interestingly designed, elaborate details ranging from the wooden menu to the walls lavishly decorated with antiques. Everything from the food is included: meat dishes and also something for vegetarians. Portions are large and food is fresh and tasty. The waiters may be the owners themselves and are both very committed, charming and funny. There you not only get food, but also entertainment. A number 1 restaurant in Münster!

I have been a big fan of the funeral pyre since the opening of Purgatory. I'm almost always annoyed that there are so many other interesting dishes on the menu that I would like to try - but since I'm always so looking forward to the funeral pyre, I almost always eat it again 🙂 Big praise also to the staff, who always make the visits entertaining!

Insanely great food! Since we couldn't decide what we wanted to try, we made another reservation for tomorrow! The love for the product and the passion for the overall experience are clearly noticeable! If you are in Münster you have to stop by here! Even the music selection is perfect

It's really something different. Great food, good selection of vegan and veggie. It's a bit more expensive, but it's worth it. The ambience and a black Abt (black beer) make a great evening.

From the service to the food, it was great. I've never laughed so much in a restaurant because the waitress had such a funny, cheeky mouth. Exactly my sense of humor. And the food was wow. Now I know what a taste orgasm is. It's something for everyone likes rustic cuisine

Very close to five stars. If you like it tasty and authentically friendly and rough, this is the place for you. Great sauce on the “pyre”. You can pay by card and the beer is delicious. The deduction is due to the fact that we were both still hungry and the price-performance ratio was simply not right. €25.00 for spaetzle with three slices of pork fillet is a bit steep. However, we would like to come back to try more delicious dishes.

Service was okay, I can't say anything special about it The ambience was mediocre, could have been quite comfortable, but there was a large group present who made so much noise that we could hardly have a conversation. Food was absolutely nothing. I ordered a Wiener Schnitzel and bit on fish as this schnitzel was decorated with anchovies. That doesn't work. Unfortunately, I was so disgusted that I couldn't eat anything. Unfortunately I don't recommend it.
