Extremely unfriendly staff. They stopped serving Kölsch, as is traditional in Cologne. A bit bizarre, but things are much better at the Permanent Representation in Berlin. We won't be coming back. Luckily, we didn't eat here.

I am extremely disappointed. The service was awful, the food was of poor quality, and at the end, the waiter (Adnan) actually got upset and started arguing with us because we didn't leave a tip. I've never experienced anything like this in a restaurant before. This behavior is absolutely unacceptable. We will definitely not be back, and I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone.

We visited the restaurant this afternoon and were thoroughly disappointed. A Coke Zero (0.4 l) cost a whopping €6.20 – a price that is already borderline exorbitant in itself. Even worse, the drink served was practically undrinkable and tasted of absolutely nothing. Only after I complained was a new Coke poured right in front of me, fresh from the bottle – confirming my suspicion that a watered-down drink had been served beforehand. This is not only unprofessional, but simply a deception of the customer. To top it all off, a cold currywurst was served – further proof that neither quality nor customer satisfaction is valued here. The bottom line: completely overpriced, quality beyond compare, and as a guest, you feel downright cheated.

I always eat there when I'm in Cologne. Delicious food, friendly staff, and a good atmosphere. However, since it's busy, it's always a bit loud. But you can still have a conversation.

I wanted to give this place a 5-star rating, but my experience was absolutely terrible. We decided to give it a try because the restaurant was packed. The pretzel with butter was amazing, and the currywurst was not bad at all. However, the schnitzel was unbelievable chewy. I couldn’t even cut it. I ended up eating the fries only because they were the worst schnitzel I’ve ever had!

Three stars because our two meals were completely different. The one with four stars: Sauerbraten. Very tasty, buttery soft. The sauce wasn't too sour, wonderfully seasoned. The red cabbage was also tasty and delicious, and the dumplings were a convenience product. I'd order them again anytime, and the price was reasonable. The one with two stars: Spießbraten. The slices were too thin for a spit roast, but the worst part: bone dry. It was way overcooked, probably had been in the warmer for far too long. The fried potatoes were also a convenience product. Two stars with goodwill, but still never again. Total: Three stars.

Too pricey for some processed industrie food, portion small u better order some side dishes cus u will leave hungry. If u order something you better know that you will wait minimum 20-30mins for each order to arrive. If you have question workers just say ask other one. And top of that u better bring some change with you cus also if u r visiting or eating there u have to pay to use toillet. Me as a traveller who dont look this type of reviews and just go find things that look okay for the first time in my life i have to leave bad review. First ans last time.

Disorganized staff. We waited what felt like half an hour outside to be served. Plenty of waiters, but they all seemed to be wandering around without a plan. There are certainly many other locations along the Rhine where you'd feel more welcome.

After waiting a leisurely 27 minutes for one of the many waiters, I unfortunately discovered that you're supposed to ask what's in the mixed drinks. My Ipanema (ginger ale, cane sugar, and lime, the original recipe) was unfortunately a drink with passion fruit spritzer, cane sugar, and lime. It cost 11 euros... The view of the Rhine is beautiful, but that's about it. Tip: - Replace the broken menu papers with clean/unbroken ones. - Label cocktails that aren't mixed according to the standard menu with the ingredients on the menu. - Instruct the waiters properly, e.g., don't leave empty glasses and plates on occupied tables and then forget to take them away (see photo). Work more organized, e.g., don't go back to the kitchen empty-handed, take empty glasses/plates with you. Work effectively. Keep an eye on the tables - "empty glasses" - "Maybe the customer is still thirsty??!! Increased sales possible... If a waiter spills beer on a seat cushion, don't leave it there and wait for a customer to sit on it (see photo). If a customer asks for the bill three times, don't wait until your colleague returns from their break after 20 minutes, but support your colleague and take over one or two tables... teamwork. Conclusion: Too bad. Not recommended.

Outrageous prices for a wheat beer in a non-wheat glass with almost no foam...€6.90... Drinks menu in newspaper format: dirty and greasy. Luckily, as a Cologne native, I have a choice. You've done better before.

If you're at the Permanent Representation, you "must" order the Chancellor Filet, or currywurst. Now the place calls itself Ex Vertretung (Ex Representation), and the menu says Ex Kanzler Filet (Ex Chancellor Filet), but what you get, or rather, what I got, is, in short, a disgrace. It was visually disappointing and tasted no better, on top of that, almost cold, and at the bargain price of €14.90. All in all, a pretty disappointing experience.

I waited 45 minutes at my table and couldn't place my order. Therefore, I can't rate the food.

Great food at reasonable prices in a beautiful spot right on the Rhine. The only, but also serious, criticism goes to the outdated boards used to serve the tarte flambée. They're completely cut up, unhygienic, and unacceptable to me. You could even smell that they're impossible to clean. They're cutting corners. Service: so-so. Asking if you enjoyed the food is just part of the experience.

So this is incredible! 🤣 I paid €7.20 for two apple chorle. I gave the waiter €7.50. And I asked him for 30 cents in change, because the service wasn't great, and it wasn't friendly either. And then the waiter told me he didn't have the change and wouldn't give me the change!! It's ridiculous! What a shame!! I strongly advise against it!

Whenever we're in Cologne, this restaurant is always our evening stop. The food is truly delicious.

The beer I drank was like water anyway, and on top of that, I noticed two small toilet flies coming out of the beer when I was almost finished. I decided to pay the bill and run away. The employee brought the bill, I extended my hand to have my card scanned, he took the card, made me scan it, bent the card, and then stuck the credit card on the table as if playing Taso. If you are looking for a place to lift your mood, you can choose this place.

If I could give it 0 star I would. The beer tasted like water and also it came with two flies in it. The waiters were so rude, it was like they were working at gunpoint. I don’t recommend it at all. It’s a tourist trap. You’re literally paying money just to be treated badly. NEVER AGAIN.

While looking for a location for a small celebration, we stumbled upon this place and immediately fell in love. A great atmosphere with good food and friendly people. We're already looking forward to showing this place to our friends!

Poor and unprofessional service! I ordered a double espresso with extra milk foam. Instead, I was charged for two espresso macchiatos. This resulted in me paying €2.70 more, just for some extra milk foam. The error wasn't noticed until the bill was issued, but it wasn't corrected. The waiter who made the incorrect entry was no longer available, and a manager was also unavailable. Very disappointing and completely unprofessional.

More show than substance: At first glance, the restaurant impresses with its lovely location and great ambiance, but a second look reveals disappointment. The food looks good, but tastes bland to the point of unpleasantness – my Sauerbraten was tough, and the tiramisu had a strange aftertaste that gave me a stomachache. Restrooms cost 50 cents (even for guests!), but are dirty and barely usable, and the cutlery and the restaurant don't always seem clean. The service was attentive, and the wait times were acceptable, but overall, my only impression is: a pretty facade, poor food, and questionable cleanliness. I wouldn't recommend it.

We went there twice for food and drinks. We had the "Brotzeit" (a kind of snack). My tip: One snack is enough for two people. But otherwise, it was fantastic.

A nice, beautiful restaurant on the Rhine promenade, centrally located near the train station and across the street from the Cologne Trade Fair Center and Arena. The food was good, and the service was very busy for a Friday evening, but still decent. Despite Gamescom, it wasn't too crowded.

Unfortunately, it was a disappointment. Outside on the terrace, there were plates everywhere with leftover food, which had already been swarmed by all sorts of flies and wasps. The location is great, in the old town with a view of the Rhine. The food is okay, but you can tell it's a touristy place; everything seems to be a mass-produced affair. The service could be improved. We sat outside, and our waiter was uninterested in his job and let it show. We couldn't manage more than two Kölsch beers because he was so inattentive. When paying, we rounded up the amount anyway, but he didn't even say thank you. So maybe he should find another job.

We had a drink on the terrace at the restaurant. To satisfy our hunger, we ordered a basket of bread with spreads. We received a small bowl with five pieces of chewy baguette, some herb butter, and a spicier dip. They pointed out that this wasn't a basket of bread. Then they brought four more pieces. When we paid, we were told we could use a coupon from the adjacent Rhein Hotel, but the waiter didn't "get it" and made us pay the full price. He was also surprised that no tip was left. Very unpleasant.

Very long waiting times and not good food overpriced drinks

Great location for outdoor seating, food was okay (I had the salmon salad), service was friendly but not the fastest. I was truly shocked by the toilet attendant who tried to charge me 50 cents as a guest (!). I can completely understand charging non-guests, especially in such a busy location. But from paying guests? I've never experienced anything like that before and I'm not sure if it's even legal. I was then yelled at, saying that guests also want a clean restroom and that it was a matter of humanity. If the lady had remained polite, I might have grabbed my wallet, but definitely not like that.

I was there on Sunday, August 3, 2025, and ordered a non-alcoholic wheat beer. The glass of beer was brought by a different employee than the one I had ordered from. When I asked, I was told it was a beer with alcohol. The glass of beer was returned, and after a while, the person I had ordered from came with a glass of beer that looked like the one that was returned. When I asked, I was told it was a non-alcoholic beer. The receipt later didn't mention this. It said wheat beer without the "alcohol-free" label. The colleague who was serving rode off on his folding bike around 7:45 p.m.

Three stars just for the view of the Rhine. Minus: the server doesn't speak German very well and misunderstood our order. But no exchange. He misunderstood it, and we had to drink it and pay.

The 2 stars only for the ambience. I ate there with my friend on August 9th, 2025. The waiter was unfriendly, overwhelmed, incompetent, had to ask several times when paying what we ordered, even though I said twice that we would pay separately, he gave us a bill with everything together in one amount, wanted to scam us, definitely missed the job, food was canteen level. The first and last time, furthermore it is a disgrace that you can only order Kölsch 0.2 inside, it would be best if the place closed, can only advise you to give the place a wide berth, the worst food I've had in years.

The 2 stars are for the location near the Rhine and the food, which was good but expensive. But these are almost too many... 1. We were ignored at first, even though not all tables were occupied and there were plenty of waiters. At some point, a thoroughly unfriendly waiter came and took our order. Then the drinks arrived, and a little spritzer was spilled. No apology, nothing. The Coke was terrible, tasted of nothing, no carbonation. I only drank half of it. When removing the empty plates, no one asked if it tasted good. I paid by card and did the math beforehand. At least the total was correct, and it was the only place where we didn't tip. I can't recommend this place in any way!!!

I have no idea where all the bad reviews are coming from, but we had a very nice evening there yesterday. The food was delicious and plentiful, and drinks were brought quickly. But what we liked best was the service. Fast, friendly, polite, very attentive, and always attentive to the customer. Paying was quick and smooth, and we weren't asked to tip, which we were happy to do. The price-performance ratio was absolutely reasonable for the location (tourist town, right on the Rhine). We paid €64 for two main courses and five drinks, which I think is perfectly reasonable. We'd be happy to come back next time we're in Cologne.

Not recommended! The waiters were completely incompetent. One waiter said the side dish on a burger couldn't be swapped, while the other waiter made it no problem. Then they brought us three pieces of dry bread with dips (we thought it was just a courtesy, since many restaurants offer them). It was clearly a mistake; it wasn't meant for us, and the waiter wanted to charge us for it.

Lunch Menu...July 30, 2025 -Paprika Schnitzel with Fries- A "cut" schnitzel with a few fries and a few pieces of bell pepper... totally unacceptable. I pointed out the cut schnitzel to the waiter, and he just said... that's what happens at lunch with a lunch menu. The regular schnitzel is twice as expensive. Better not order from the lunch menu...

Great place on the waterfront. Menu in an old newspaper format as the history of the place demands. Great view to the boats and bridges on/over the Rhine. Friendly staff, good kølsch. Decent prices. Good traditional German food. Recommended.

Disappointed with the experience because of the service. A 0.75L bottle of still water costs almost €10 and is the same price as a beer. It's impossible to get a carafe of water. What a disappointment. While the service was excellent, the salad, consisting almost entirely of potatoes!!!, 3 radish slices, and 3 cucumber slices, was a complete disappointment!!! The restaurant is Just in front of the Rhein, so the location is great but also swamped with turist. The menu looked nice and I had a Rheinische Kartoffelsuppe mit Speek. I never had it before so I don’t know how it is supposed to taste. It was nice but a bit to rich for my taste. The waiters was not busy but still didn’t come to our table. When we finaly ordered they were sweet. When my Kartoffelsuppe came the bread was missing. Only after I was done eating, the bread came. But the street-artist had us entertained☺️

I went for some beers and received terrible service. One waiter has a bad attitude and throws things at you. When it's time to pay, he throws your bill at you. The place also smells like sewage from the outdoor seating.

Please watch out for the tourist trap. My friends and I had a bad experience in this place. If you go, always pay with a card; if you pay with cash, the waiter asks for more than the actual bill. We came to this bar for a drink. When we wanted to use the restroom, we were refused access until we paid 50 cents, even though we were customers!!! What's even more surprising is that this is mostly requested of female tourists. When we asked the restaurant staff for an explanation, they assured us that it wasn't charged if we were customers. However, my friend was unable to get her money back. This is unacceptable, and I see that we're not the only ones to have been in the same situation, judging by the comments.

I was there with my girlfriend and went to the Bathroom. My girlfriend went and they made her pay one euro to use it yet we were patrons of the place and had ordered food. Absolutely despicable treatment to their customers

Female tourists be careful: they make you pay for the toilet even though you are a customer. Asked the staff and they were acting like scared dogs, afraid of the toiletcleaner. German people can go free. They said it’s “a tip”. It’s not a tip if they force you to pay.

Unfortunately, completely disappointing. During our visit to the former branch in Cologne on Friday, we were simply not served – even though it really wasn't full. We were visibly seated at a table, but were consistently ignored for an extended period. No menu, no questions asked, no response. We don't know if it had anything to do with the rainbow on our T-shirts. But the feeling of having been deliberately overlooked remains...

Avoid the aggressive waiter, let me explain. When we got the bill for a bottle of water at €9.95 and two bruschetta sandwiches, we asked to pay by card. The waiter arrived with the device and told us, in an unfriendly tone, that the tip wasn't included. I said I wasn't putting anything in, and then he told me I had to adapt to the country because 10 people had worked to bring us food and drink. And then he threw the receipt at us like a lout. During my 5 days in this region of Germany, this was the only time this happened to us. We left a cash tip at every meal, and each time the waiters thanked us... I had change for the tip, but given his reaction, Mr. Elvis didn't get anything. So avoid this restaurant, especially since there are plenty of others where you're made to feel welcome.

Was there today, just for a drink, and the Aperol was great. The waiters were nice, but a homeless guy kept coming by who was very pushy and stole beer from other guests. The waiters didn't say anything and didn't even replace the beer. Hence the star deduction. Watch your drinks! 😂

The location right on the Rhine is great, and the staff immediately assigned us a table, although we had to wait a long time for our drinks. It's actually okay for a stopover, but nothing special if you just want a drink. I can't comment on the food.

The food is of good quality, the location on the banks of the Rhine is beautiful, but the service is disastrous: you can sit directly in the waiting room and see them constantly walking past you until one of them wanders over to your table.

Absolutely fantastic! We stopped in for a beer and a small snack after seeing the musical. The staff was super friendly (Ravin was incredibly relaxed and customer-oriented!). The snack was delicious, and the Belgian fries were simply amazing!

We were at the restaurant last night and unfortunately have to say: The visit was disappointing. A waiter rinsed his rag in the fountain in the square – the very fountain in which children had been playing and spitting half an hour earlier. And the rag is probably used to wipe the tables nice and clean. 😃 That's unhygienic and unacceptable. What was particularly annoying was that we were charged a €5 tip without consulting them. We added an additional €2 because we didn't realize the scam at the time. These were also pocketed without comment. In total, we paid €39 + €2 – for 4 x 0.5 l Kölsch and 1 portion of fries, which according to the menu should have only cost €34.10. We didn't receive a bill, which is ridiculous. The service was generally poor: We had to wait a long time, the waiters seemed overwhelmed and rushed. Furthermore, they didn't even offer napkins with the fries. The only positive thing to mention is the lady in the restrooms – they were clean and well-maintained. I expect the staff and the owner, Mr. Pirapakaran Mohan, to adhere to German laws and standards.
