Very bad experience. The dough is reheated and some moldy. No effort is made to take our complaints into consideration. Non-existent atmosphere. The deplorable service.

Be careful when paying with credit card. In my case, the waitress had to swipe the card 3 times, supposedly because it didn't work, but the value was debited 3 times. Despite repeated calls and emails, no one has responded to the error, it seems to be fine. So be careful!

Too bad. The second time we wanted to give the store a chance. We ordered food and drinks at the establishment, yet we were still charged to use the bathroom. What’s the point of drinking at a place if they charge you for every visit to the restroom? Another issue was that they added a 19% tip without asking, which made me never want to return. I recommend going somewhere else instead of this place.

Terrible service, we were literally ignored. They charge you to go to the bathroom even if you are consuming on the spot. Too sweet aperol. They added a 19% tip already built into the bill, I had never seen that in Germany and I live here.

Food very tasty. Takes a relatively long time. Portion size normal to small. Staff can only speak a bit of German, if at all. You have to pay to go to the toilet despite eating in the restaurant.

Rhenish sauerbraten actually quite good, but very salty and quite tough potato dumplings. Things are better at the permanent representation in Berlin

The staff wasn't unfriendly, but they weren't particularly motivated either. The taste of the food was okay, although one would have expected more in terms of price/performance ratio. Unfortunately the food was almost cold.

Service didn't want to make separate invoices that would have to be billed for our drinks individually. Then became rude after complaining.

Had a couple beers with friends, but service was very meh. We basically had to do everything, glad at least that they brought the beers to the table though! Of course the beer was good (Kölsch beer for the win!).

Bad day or tourist rip-off? The Halve Hahn came with a toasted bun and no Röggelchen. The suckling pig roll was dry and we had to wait 20 minutes for the Kölsch we ordered. We've had better experiences, but this time everything was underground!

Went there today with the company, the waiters were unmotivated, didn't feel like it...we had to wait forever until we got new drinks, even though the shop was only half full in the afternoon. The food was ok but nothing special... next time I'll go back to the brewery.

We ordered two goulash soups, which were served in a reasonable amount of time. However, after the first three spoonfuls we notice that we found no meat in the soup at all, or let's say about 4-5 smartie-sized pieces of meat from the can. We then asked to speak to the boss, but we waited in vain for him to speak to us. When we complained to the waiter, he brought us “a” new plate with no less than 6-7 pieces of meat the size of Smarties. So one plate for two people! When paying, the waiter, with an astonishing matter-of-factness, collected the change that had not been agreed upon as a tip... We found it all just ridiculous and shameful for such a restaurant. What we also found very strange was that the Ramazzotti was very thin and tasteless. When we asked the waiter, we were presented with a new Ramazzotti without a word, which finally tasted like it. A rogue who now thinks evil of it... We definitely won't eat anything here again.

Very unmotivated waiter. He was friendly, but you could tell he wasn't in the mood. Table not wiped… completely sticky. Food was cold. I had sauerbraten... Without sauce... or rather only the two pieces of meat had been tossed in sauce. All in all…. If you want a beautiful view of the Rhine, this is the right place... But it's better to eat somewhere else.

Als Kölner bin ich früher oft dorthin gegangen, aber nach dem Betreiberwechsel geht hier nichts mehr. Zum Fußballgucken sehr gut, weil es auch draußen überdacht ist. 0,3 Kölsch leider schal und abgestanden, weil der Service es leider nicht im Griff hat. Essen eher unterirdisch und zu teuer. Für eine Curry Wurst für 14,90 EUR kann man mehr erwarten. Die Käsespätzle waren ein Haufen irgendwas mit viel schlechtem Käse (bin ja auch selber schuld dort Käsespätzle zu bestellen :-)) ).

Was in Cologne today, just wanted to have a relaxing drink of water. Suddenly I wanted to pay and the waiter said my water costs ten euros and was totally shocked, especially because my friend still had lip prints on the glass and he had to return the glass, which by the way didn't get a replacement. Never last time in Cologne again. You'll never see me again and my buddy's iced tea has now just turned out. There was a fly in it. Impudence, absolute impudence. By the way, coffee tastes like it comes from the cheapest coffee machine for ten euros.

Very bad service, rude too late, the cutlery was dirty and the glasses were stained. For 3 coffees and 3 cakes €40 is a disgrace.

This shop was a complete disgrace, the service was very slow and very unfriendly. For a restaurant and pub, the toilets should actually be free, but we had to wait half an hour before we were allowed to pay. Apart from the location of the restaurant, there is no reason to visit it. I would give zero stars if it were possible.

Unfortunately there was no light beer on offer and there was no wheat, so there was only disgusting Kölsch. A 0.3er Kölsch costs €3.40, which is fine, but a 0.5er costs €6.90. The operator probably didn't pay attention to math. It's a shame given the good location.

Service was an absolute disaster, extremely unfriendly and very boldly asked for a tip. The price/performance ratio for the food is not right at all! Got the wrong side dish with the steak and when I pointed it out I was labeled stupid. Then, in front of my eyes, the wrong garnish was scraped off my plate (with half ending up on the table). No go! First and last time there!

The pork knuckle is delicious here. I highly recommend it.

The food was quite good and the location on the Rhine is of course very charming. But card payments over €20 are a no-go for me, even in Cologne.

Find another restaurant! Ordered a huge currywurst and got a bratwurst with a small portion of fries, plus ketchup that was diced with paprika and mixed with some curry spice. The sausage and fries were cold. The whole thing cost €14.90. I let the food go back. I wasn't offered anything else. I had to pay the full price. I have never eaten so badly and overpriced in my life. Thanks for this experience!

Ordered four vastly overpriced beers from a waiter which eventually arrived. We then ordered four more from the same guy. While waiting for the second round, another chap came along and charged us for the original four, which we paid with a credit card. When we wanted to leave, the original waiter wanted us to pay for eight beers - despite us having a receipt for four we'd paid for. He agreed we'd only had eight, he agreed we had a receipt for four - but he was demanding we pay for eight. We naturally refused. He became insulting and mildly threatened violence. He threatened to call the Police, which we agreed with, but of course he didn't - despite our pleas. Some time later and after more threats of violence, the other guy came back and confirmed that we'd paid him. We then paid what we owed for the remaining four beers (although really we shouldn't have, they should have been on the house given what we went through) and he refused to give us our change. DO NOT GO TO THIS BAR

Absolutely awesome, you can sit here casually by the Rhine, enjoy your delicious beer and eat... Plus the waitress always has a laugh at the table. Cheers to the ex-representation.

I visited the restaurant with my grandmother. The service was a bit slow, but that was probably because the European Championships were taking place and the Scots were very thirsty. But the boss waiter was very on the ball. Unfortunately my knuckle wasn't really crispy, the potatoes were puree really successful for that. Unfortunately I found the price a bit too high, there are breweries around the corner that are a bit better. If the knuckle is crispy in the future, it will be given 5 stars.

We asked nicely if it was still open as the tables were empty. The first waiter looks at us, mumbles something and turns around. Another waiter who we asked answered sloppily and extremely unfriendly. Not recommended if the service and the courting of guests is so terrible

The terrace with a view of the Rhine is great. The portion of the Kanzler fillet (currywust with fries) is very small and not for hungry mouths. But what is not acceptable is that the waitress asked for a 10 per cent tip at the end. She said it's a must, but it's not written on the menu nor anywhere and the waitress didn't tell it beforehand. She talked her head off and insisted on it. She just said that we were probably in Germany for the first time... I've been to Germany many times and I also like to give an appropriate tip if everything was good. To insist on a 10 euro tip at a price of 89 euros is very cheeky! If this is the new norm in Germany, then I apologise, but I will certainly not be a guest there again.

€5.60 for a fresh peppermint tea is simply too expensive. And the best thing is that nowhere does it say that you can only pay by card from €20. Too expensive, too bad service, menu cards are DIN A4 printed sheets that were poorly stapled together and you have to pay 50ct for using the toilet. Go somewhere else, it's no longer worth it.

The cocktail was on the menu for 7.90. However, 12.00 was then charged on the grounds that the cocktail was no longer available for 7.90. But only the cocktail for 7.90 was shown as a menu, which wasn't even crossed out. So I paid 12 euros more for 3 drinks as listed on the menu was given. When the waiter fetched someone from inside the store, I was thrown the regular cocktail menu and told again that only this menu was valid. The customer used to be king... Very annoying.

This is a restaurant where you are supposed to pay for using the restroom. I don't recall having ever seen such a requirement. Further, the restroom is dirty, with no paper towels available.

Good food, however you are expected to pay for using the restroom, in which there are no paper towels nor a working dryer.

It was already cleaned and tidied up while there were still a lot of guests sitting in the restaurant or outside. Otherwise decent.

Maybe the waiters had a bad day or we wanted things that were on the menu that you never have.

Good food, good value for money

I had the cheese spaetzle where unfortunately a cheap cheese was used and the fried onions were only braised and with a lot of fat on the spaetzle. Service unfortunately inattentive

La comida bien y la ubicación también. Pero, al llegar con la cuenta, el camarero indicó que la propina no estaba incluida. Pagamos con 2 billetes de 50 para una cuenta de 93. Y el camarero cogió los billetes diciendo "propina". Cuando se lo reclamamos volvió a devir "propina" y se fue, dejándonos con sensación de estafa. Esto es Alemania donde un camarero tiene un sueldo decente, y no un país donde viven de las propinas. En todo caso, era nuestra decisión dar o no dar.

This restaurant is located right on the Rhine ☀️ that's nice. Unfortunately, the guests tend to be overlooked and you have to contact the waitress directly in order to be served at all. That's a shame 😞 it makes you feel like a troublemaker rather than a welcome guest. But maybe you're somehow put off by the many guests. But since you have a great view of the Rhine and the restaurant is quite pleasant inside, you're happy to wait for service.

Waiters demanding tips and not returning the returns.

Unfortunately not recommended at all. The food was cold and did not match the description on the menu. The portion size was also simply tiny and therefore the dishes are far too expensive. Example: a lukewarm meatball with almost cold fried potatoes in a measly version: €14.

I was very indignant that the dishes were dirty, how to understand this in general, the food is delicious, there is nothing to say, but when you go to the toilet you have to pay 0.50 euros, what is this anyway, this establishment can hardly be called a good restaurant and it is unlikely that it deserves 4.1 stars

Me and my partner went there wanting to enjoy a few drinks by the river, only ended up in disappointment. First off, customers were somewhat forced to tip the cleaning lady stationed outside the lavatory. I was willing to honour service workers for their hard work generally but found it unbelievable that customers of a restaurant and bar HAVE to tip the cleaning lady every time they use the facility. I looked up the relevant laws and regulations afterwards ( https://www.stadt-koeln.de/artikel/08288/index.html ) and think (as far as I understand) that restaurants are not allowed to do so. Although the waiters said the tip was voluntary, I was greeted by the cleaning lady with an angry ‘Hallo’ when I tried to enter the toilet to indicate that I had to pay the tip before I’d be allowed to use the bathroom. Her attitude changed 180 after I tipped her and was so caring as to tell me to mind my steps…I’d ve been totally fine if I was encouraged to tip the cleaning lady for her hard work, and would’ve happily given the 50 cents. But this systematically forceful arrangement was what put me off. We didn’t end up having as many drinks as we’d ve loved to, as it was indeed somewhat irritating that your basic needs (esp in a restaurant) were barred by an indirectly imposed tipping wall. Another minor thing was the rainproof setting of the outdoor area of the restaurants. Those umbrellas were set up in such a way that rain water dripped between the gaps of individual umbrellas, and the customers in the outdoor area had to either put on their hooded jacket, or dodge the water sprinkles as they navigated their way to leave or go indoors. It’s not the most satisfactory experience and a bit loveless and thoughtless from the side of the restaurant. All-in-all, it’s a bit of a let down, given how I was told this used to be the drinking place of the key politicians back in the days.

Had dinner with a group in the evening. Food was very good, nothing to complain about. But every time you went to the toilet you had to pay €0.50. Which I find very strange in Germany, as it should actually be a given that the toilet is free. We left €215 in food and drink. The food was generally not that good, but the wrong food was delivered. After pointing this out, the waiter was unreasonable and insisted on his opinion. In the end, an incorrect (higher) fee was charged. Best to avoid this store!

Food is the last rubbish. Spit roast was a smoked pork dish, fried potatoes tasted like rubber after being warmed up. Clean glasses look different. A friend still had lipstick on the glass. Toilets are dirty and then additional money is charged for them. So I don't anymore...

Glasses were dirty every time and even had the previous lipstick on them. This shouldn't be the case! As a guest you even have to pay 50 cents for the toilet, I'm happy to pay that if it's clean, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Hair everywhere in the pool and the floor wasn't clean. The woman sits there, collects money and it just remains dirty. Unfortunately never again. It's such a beautiful corner.

When we are in Cologne, some Kölsch is a must.

Wir waren zu zweit dort und bekamen trotz Andrang draußen einen Tisch. Bedienung war freundlich und wir mussten nicht allzu lange auf Getränke und Essen warten. Die Gerichte waren gut, dem Preis Leistungsverhältnis entsprechend. Den Flammkuchen können wir empfehlen.

I would give 0 if I could. We arrived at the restaurant and were completely ignored. Seated ourselves only to be still waiting 40 mins with no acknowledgement or service. Will never return.

Where these positive reviews come from is a complete mystery to me. That was pretty much the worst restaurant visit of the year. Underground service. Had to wait forever for beer. Ordering the food was only successful on the third attempt. What came to the table was just bad. Spit roast was cold, the onion was soggy and the sauce was inedible. The salad was wilted and looked like it had been prepared the day before, and we didn't eat the salmon as a precaution. Justified criticism falls on deaf ears. Conclusion: This used to be a nice restaurant but since the entire team was replaced it is no longer recommended.

It's very sad that this place calls itself resturante. I have rarely eaten as badly as I did here! Even the menu is a joke! The service is very bad, you'd better go to another resturante on the promenade. Please note that the card does not match what you get. Proud price for poor service and food.

You are not accepted as a new guest, we had to speak to a waitress after 10 minutes so that something happened. The old dishes from the guest in front of them were not cleared away either. Then you ask if we know what we want to eat, we didn't even get a menu. 2. I ordered a Wiener Schnitzel with fries (should have been pork) I got a lukewarm chicken schnitzel, the fries were actually ok. The schnitzel looked as if a piece had been torn off so that the customer didn't get so much or you just ate it yourself... My wife got a cold tarte flambée that wasn't really edible. Since we wanted to eat something before we went home, we ate it and paid for it. Unfortunately, when I first looked at the bill when I got home, I was charged chicken schnitzel with mushrooms, but there were no mushrooms. The glasses apparently weren't washed either. Unfortunately the service leaves a lot to be desired. The waiters were rude and the tip was not thanked once. The food could have used more seasoning and was a bit tasteless. In addition, the food here is very expensive. I cannot recommend the restaurant more highly.

Every star here is too much... underground bad and unfriendly. It took 50 minutes and asking 3 times to get 2 pasta dishes, the almost raw noodles were hardly eaten. It has to be said that only three tables were occupied and we were the only ones who had ordered food, so they didn't get anything on the table and were absolutely incapable of criticism and when you tried to start a conversation about it, he left the table without a word and the food was served then clapped and didn't say a word when we cashed out - the absolute worst culinary experience we had in Cologne. Worst restaurant visit of my life!!! Our pasta Napoli arrived after ONE HOUR and was STILL HARD and so disgusting!!! The second time we talked to the waiter about how long our meal would take, he just looked at us annoyed and went to the next table. 1 hour wait for noodles and there were only 3 tables occupied in the entire restaurant. And then they weren't even close to being through and were very hard. No goodwill or answers from the staff. We are very disappointed and would not recommend anyone to eat there.

I haven't eaten here, just drank a beer by the river. A little overpriced on that matter, but the service was very nice.

The four of us wanted to eat there on May 1st. We didn't get to order food because the waiter wasn't able to take our food. We asked him about it 3 times. No interest in serving guests. At the end we asked him about his behavior. He's not interested. He spoke with an accent. We then went to eat at the Italian restaurant next door. Here they can learn how to serve guests. We ordered 2x cappuccinos and a water for €19.60. A foreign body came out of a cappuccino and our cappuccinos were forgotten. We waited 25 minutes for it. Not recommended.

Unfortunately not recommended. Food was okay. Just under €18 for a simple frozen burger and €6.20 for a 0.4 apple spritzer is just cheeky. Glasses were not clean and had water stains. The ambience was quaint but nothing more. Service didn't even enter into a dialogue with you. Silently took the order and paid silently. There was someone sitting on the toilet who wanted money... as a guest I don't pay extra money to go to the toilet. No recommendation!
