The three of us had dinner. We sat very comfortably. Both waitresses served us nicely and answered all our questions. The food was also fantastic.

Good old-fashioned cuisine. The menu is not overflowing with countless dishes, so you can decide quickly.

It's been a long time since we, two Dresdeners, had such a pleasant visit to a restaurant as we had last night with our Dessau friends. Brilliant atmosphere, friendly welcome, a super nice, open-minded waiter accompanied us until we said goodbye. All food and drinks were top notch. Keep it up, we'll definitely be back.

If you write until 9:30 p.m. the kitchen is open then you shouldn't look too hard when a guest asks at 8:25 p.m. if there's anything else to eat and then when you're sitting down the waiter tells you he has to go and see if there's anything else. Set 6

Really a great restaurant. The service was quick and attentive and the food was really tasty (ox cheeks and veal liver). After asking the waiter, we even received a lot of good information about Hobusch herbal liqueur. Very happy again.

Had a family celebration. Unfortunately the quality of the food has deteriorated very much. Duck was not crispy, very limp. Sauce was too salty [vertig sauce]. Seasoned meat was from the day before, just warmed up. The rest of the family weren't convinced either, the meat was rather tough and the pasta wasn't cooked through. The Brussels sprout leaves were missing from the pike perch. Prices are too expensive for the poor quality. In general, the potato house is no longer recommended. We decided to eat here at short notice. A reservation was not necessary - there is enough space here. The staff is very friendly and can answer questions about food competently. The food (fried liver with apple and mashed potatoes / half duck with your choice of croquettes) was very good. We'd love to come back here.

Really good meal. Although almost all dinner options in Dessau were closed on Monday evening, a nice Hamburger schnitzel was prepared for me. Plus a potato and cucumber salad and fresh potato bread. The service was good and quick, but the restaurant was almost empty. I enjoyed it and liked it. A visit is therefore worth it.

Took a break in Dessau on the way through and ended up here by chance. Super nice reception Casual, fast, lovely conditions There are still some who have mastered their craft. Ambience very cozy with a mix of rustic and antiques. Very nice. Third point, the food, unfortunately the food was so delicious that you had to finish it😄 Not good for the hips but whatever. The sirloin pan and the liver with potato-celery puree were perfect. Greetings to the kitchen. When we come back to Dessau we'll go to the EDK.😂

Well, there's room for improvement. Service wasn't particularly attentive, only wiping the outside table superficially when asked. Roast meat okay, onions good, fried potatoes cold and rubber. Bavarian pan was quite good except for the sauce, which was too intense. Went to the restaurant to pay, we still had plans.

The welcome was very friendly, after that nothing came for ages... no menu... ordering drinks took forever, the food took more than half an hour and when it came it was lukewarm... After being spoken to, they gave me a 10 percent discount. The restaurant visit couldn't be enhanced with that. It's a shame!!

Strange visit to this potato house. So if you put so much focus on the potato, the fried potatoes I had were a disaster. Fried potatoes, which I usually like better in East Germany than at home, include bacon and onions. There was neither here, just seasoning salt and oil. It wouldn't surprise me if the fried potatoes were pre-made from the bag/bucket. The potato cubes/fried potatoes looked suspiciously the same no matter what plate or pan they were on. The chicken breast was normal and the quantity was ok. The ambience was rather rustic, very woody with some watering cans decorated in a farmer's style. It wasn't really my thing. The service was attentive and friendly, but despite having ordered in advance, the food took some time. In addition, the service was a bit confusing, as someone asked for espresso and it was ordered, but the waiter walked back and forth several times without us knowing whether the order had been taken or not. With the few drops of espresso you were served, you couldn't speak of well-crafted coffee, let alone the art of coffee. I have to agree with the other commenters that the price-performance ratio is absolutely not right. For these prices I legitimately expect more. All in all, a pretty disappointing visit. For the money I eat better elsewhere and pay maybe a little more than half as much. I will only return to this restaurant under peer pressure, if at all.

We were spontaneously invited to dinner at the Dessau potato house and were totally thrilled. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was very nice despite it being very busy. The offer is sufficient for everyone. I can only recommend it to everyone.

We were registered with 8 people and were already in the beer garden an hour beforehand. We experienced fast and flexible service. Unfortunately I have to deduct points when it comes to food. The schnitzel was fried quite “rustically”. I couldn't eat that. After the complaint there was movement and I immediately received a fresh salad as an apology and the note... the chef will take care of a replacement meal. It came pretty quickly and was tasty. Therefore, a big compliment to the speed of reaction from the staff. The food took less than 10 minutes to be served and was tasty. In the end everything is fine.

I've been going there for decades. I'm very satisfied. Price performance is ok and it always tastes very good and the facilities are super nice. The staff is great and always very polite.

I had dinner at a street table outside this traditional German eatery close to the town hall of Dessau. Calf's liver Berliner art was on the menu for this night with an ongoing pole vault competition about 100 m away in front of the town hall. I learnt a bit about German Spätburgunders, not knowing they even make a sweet variant which was brought to my table served at above 30 degrees temperature to accompany my calf's liver. When I informed the waiter the wine was undrinkable he asked me what I thought he should do with it. Luckily someone more intelligent came to my table after a while and we sorted it out to my entire satisfaction. So be careful with what you order to drink if you don't know the local habits and rules. By the way the winner jumped 5.82, not too bad for a street evening event.

The food tastes good but the price-performance ratio is problematic. 16 euros for a medium-sized baked potato with very little sliced ​​meat is excessive. A medium farmer's breakfast for the price too. An additional 1.90 euros were charged for an extra sour cucumber. I find that quite cheeky. I wouldn't want to come back.

Nicely located in the center, we decided to stop here. Friendly welcome in a pleasant atmosphere, we took a seat on the terrace and enjoyed the beautiful weather at the same time. The offering is diverse and appealing. I chose the Hamburger Schnitzel and my sweetheart chose the baked potato filled with smoked salmon and sour cream. When we are here for work, we eat here relatively regularly. We really liked the waiter on our first visit. He is professional, friendly, funny and quick, and very likeable. The atmosphere is typically German-rustic, lots of bells and whistles, but still cozy. Since we are usually only in Dessau in winter, we have only sat outside twice. The outdoor area is also really nicely decorated. All the dishes I've had so far have been very well prepared, with the exception of a few little things that aren't worth mentioning. The portions are more than sufficient and the dishes are harmonious. We're always happy to come back to you! Oh yes, the rosé wine is also praiseworthy!

The garden lounge, now in summer, is a great atmosphere for enjoying the outdoors. We had the Thiessener fried fish with fried potatoes. Very decorative and very tasty! Also filling. A great recommendation in the Dessau city.

Delicious food, perfect service 💯.

Wer bei schönem Wetter im Kartoffelhaus auf dem Dessauer Rathausplatz (Zerbster Straße) ein Bier trinkt, wird wahrscheinlich nicht enttäuscht sein. In einer netten Runde bringen zumal die vorbeigehenden Gäste Unterhaltung und Entspannung. Problematisch wird es, wenn der Gast Hunger hat, denn der Slogan in der Küche hieß offensichtlich: „Optimieren.“ Was bestellt man, wenn man schon vorherahnt, dass Kochen mit frischen Zutaten nicht zu den Spezialitäten des Hauses zählt? Ich entschied mich für eine Currywurst mit Pommes frites. Da konnte nichts schiefgehen. Doch leider lag ich mit meiner Erwartung daneben. Zunächst muss lobend erwähnt werden, dass das Essen nach ca. 20 Minuten warm auf den Tisch kam. Die Bedienung, mehrere Kräfte teilten sich das Feld, setzten bei Bestellung, Service und Kassierung eine Mine auf, die mich unweigerlich an einen „KI-Style“ erinnern ließ. Dieses Personal erschütterte nichts mehr. Sie waren weder schroff noch abweisend, doch aus den erstarrten Gesichtszügen konnte weder Freundlichkeit, geschweige denn Herzlichkeit gelesen werden. Zurück zu meinem Mahl: Die (viel zu kleine) Currywurst wurde in zwei Hälften auf dem Teller offeriert, was sicherlich Fülle demonstrieren sollte. Sie war von der Konsistenz recht hart, doch dafür ohne jeglichen Geschmack. Erstaunlich, dass die Pommes ihre Fabrik verlassen haben, denn sie waren so klein, dass sie eigentlich durch jedes Netz hätte fallen müssen; offensichtlich sehr günstig im Einkauf. Auch geschmacklich war sie recht unterirdisch, was vor allem an der Festigkeit lag. Kulinarischer Höhepunkt des Essens war die über Wurst und Pommes geratene „Tomatensoße“. Ein chemisches Konglomerat aus mir unbekannten Zutaten. Wirklich schlimm. In modernen Zeiten wird jedem – auch mir – klar, dass gespart werden muss und dass in der „normalen“ Gastronomie (um zu überleben) fast nur noch mit Convenience gearbeitet werden kann. Dennoch gibt es auch dort wesentlich bessere Lebensmittel, die eine deutlich höhere Qualität aufweisen, als erlebt. Leider war das Einzige, was beim Essen wirklich hoch war, war der Preis.

The music on Thursday was great again. Food as always very good. The white wine house brand awarded for a Spritz. And our service, as always, was very nice. We always feel very comfortable with you. We are already looking forward to our next visit. Update December 16, 2023 After the obligatory Christmas market visit we were here again. Wisely, due to the many Christmas parties, we made reservations online and everything worked out perfectly, as always. As always, the food was delicious, plentiful and good. We will visit you again next year. PROMISED.;-)

Service wirklich sehr sehr schlecht…scheinbar nur Aushilfen. Bei diesem hohen Preisniveau des Restaurants erwartet man dann aber auch von geschultem Personal bedient zu werden!! Essen hat mehr als 1,5 Stunden gedauert und war dann nicht mal richtig heiß…und geschmacklich eher mau absolute Enttäuschung! Und auf die Beschwerde nur Schulterzucken von unserer Bedienung. Absolut Keine Empfehlung!!

Well, unfortunately I have to change my good rating. I've never experienced anything like that before. 30 minutes after arriving you are asked if you want drinks, after 45 minutes they arrived and one was missing... When you then ask if you can order, the waiter wants you with his eyes... After 80 minutes on site, the starters finally arrived and after almost 2 hours the main courses... one was missing... when the waitress went into the kitchen to ask, another 10 minutes in vain, the table was waiting... after 15 minutes We then asked if it was coming... oh, we forgot to let them know at the table, but that wasn't the case... The food was clearly delicious, the service was a disaster, it's a shame that on a birthday...

Very tasty food and great service

The food and the environment were nice. BUT when we were about to pay, the waitress took a 10€ tip without asking. Warning!

I can say it was very good. The waiting times for drinks and food are okay. The food was super tasty and the price was right. My wife ordered the breaded goat cheese and I ordered a large Krefelder. The service was friendly and there was a lot of fun involved.

Wir hatten für 19.00 Uhr einen Tisch im Kartoffelhaus reserviert. Ein bisschen enttäuscht waren wir schon, als uns bei einem extrem wackligen Tisch (Tischplatte) nicht geholfen wurde, bei unseren Stabilisierungsversuchen. Jedenfalls hatte der Chef gegen 19.10 Uhr unsere Bestellung aufgenommen. Als um 20.30 Uhr noch keine Essen kam, mussten wir mitteilen, dass 2 Personen das Essen dann leider mitnehmen müssen, da sie sonst ihre Öffis nicht mehr erreichen. Daraufhin wurde gesagt: „oh schade, das Essen ist gerade fertig. Allerdings mussten wir dann nochmal eine halbe Stunde warten. Das heißt, wir haben insgesamt zwei Stunden auf das Essen gewartet. In diesen zwei Stunden wurden wir auch kein einziges Mal gefragt, ob wir noch etwas zu trinken möchten. Wir waren echt durstig. Es waren draußen ca. 2/3 der Tische besetzt, drinnen war leer und es waren 3 Servicekräfte plus Chef im Service unterwegs. Die „Entschuldigung“ war „es ist eben viel los. Die Servicekraft beim bezahlen sagte uns allerdings, dass wir einfach „vergessen“ wurden. All diese Umstände führten zu einem relativ enttäuschenden Abend. Allerdings kam der größte Hammer zum Schluss. Wir haben zwar 10% Rabatt erhalten, aber wir mussten 3,- Euro für die Verpackung bezahlen. Das hat uns echt den Rest gegeben. 3,-Euro dafür, dass unser Besuch nicht mit uns gemeinsam essen konnte, weil wir vergessen wurden und zwei Stunden warten mussten? 3,- Euro dafür, dass unser Besuch das Essen zuhause in der Mikrowelle aufwärmen musste? Sorry, aber ich habe lange in der Gastronomie gearbeitet und Fehler passieren, überhaupt kein Problem. Aber ich hätte mich vielleicht mal zwischendurch beim Gast entschuldigt und ein Getränk auf Kosten des Hauses angeboten. Dann wäre das für uns vollkommen okay gewesen und ich hätte auch keine negative Bewertung abgegeben. Aber das was wir hier erlebt haben, ist mir so als Gast noch nie passiert. Im übrigen war mein Kartoffel-Selleriestampf auch noch eiskalt.

However, the waitress when we paid told us that we had simply been forgotten. This means that instead of admitting the mistake, we were also lied to. Of course we noticed that guests who arrived after us had already received their food. All of these circumstances led to a relatively disappointing evening. However, what gave us the rest came at the end. Although we received a 10% discount, we had to pay three euros for the packaging. Three euros for our visitor not being able to eat with us because we were forgotten and had to wait two hours? Three euros for our visitor having to heat up their food in the microwave at home? Sorry, but I also worked in the catering industry for a long time and mistakes happen, that's human nature and actually not a problem at all. But lying to us and demanding money for the packaging is simply outrageous. If they had apologized to us straight away, admitted the mistake and maybe offered another drink, then that would have been completely okay with us and I wouldn't have given this review either. But what we experienced here has never happened to me as a guest. By the way, my mashed potatoes and celery were really icy cold in some places (microwave?) and my carrots were perhaps cooked al dente, but definitely not caramelized.

I ordered Thuringian Rostbrätel for lunch, but unfortunately not as we know it. Meat was very pale and mushy, not freshly made and the onions were not freshly fried but a mash of finely chopped onion pieces which, like the meat, were also lukewarm.

Situation: I am alone, it had rained shortly before, the outdoor area I prefer is about 25% occupied. I have the impression that the majority of residents in Dessau are in a bad mood and look grumpy. The potato house's service staff are no exception. It is said that a well-drawn Pilsner takes 7 minutes. The Pils I got here must have been particularly good on tap. It took more than ten minutes. But that went much faster than the second Pilsner, which I'm still waiting for today. Since it had rained recently, the table was wet. When the waitress came back with the pilsner and I still didn't notice any signs of drying the table, I asked for a few napkins so I could do this myself. This was followed by an offer to clean the table (with a window squeegee), which I gladly accepted. The food was delicious and the chosen Mediterranean vegetable potato casserole is a nice change for vegetarians. Conclusion: Quite nice, with a lot of potential for improvement.

A spontaneous stopover in Dessau brought us here. Super delicious food, super friendly atmosphere. From grained shepherd's cheese, marinated beetroot carpaccio to sea bream etc. there are so many delicious dishes. Great!

Located right in the city center. You can dine and drink outside or inside. The inside of the restaurant is kept in an old style, very rustic and beautifully designed. Delicious food in a pretty, middle-class restaurant.

Visited for the first time today. After a long day and a long way from Ingolstadt to you and being very hungry, we ordered asparagus with salmon and veal liver. The food was extremely tasty, the liver was buttery soft, the asparagus was tender and the service was great, the atmosphere was absolutely cozy. We will definitely come back. 🥰💖👍

Ambiance with lots of wood and tons of decoration... but still not kitschy or overloaded. Menu very extensive... home-style but also some international potato dishes. If you don't find anything here, it's your own fault. Totally within the price range. Service very friendly, attentive and quick. We'd love to come back.

Reservations for 8 people worked out, but we waited about an hour for the food. After an apology, a schnapps on the house and the explanation that there were 3 people working in the kitchen instead of 5, you could understand it. The rustic ambience has remained true to its style for years, but the benches should be checked for defects. If the foam is about 4 to 5 cm wide on the seat, it has nothing to do with charm and everything to do with hygiene. For dinner I had the hunter's pan. Large pan with a lot of fried potatoes and very little meat, hmm....... At the table there was also brawn and Thuringian Rostbrätel, which was probably quite tasty.

Not a place where you can feel comfortable. Very dingy, cobwebs including spiders on the ceilings, leftover food under the table and old confetti stuck to the floor from some New Year's Eve. The table is greasy and you just want to keep your arms on your lap, let alone eat from them. The food was also just mediocre and nothing that would attract me to the restaurant again. The staff was very friendly so far, unfortunately this is not the deciding factor in coming back. So a clear no, no one will see me there anymore.

Food (casserole) tasted like it was from “yesterday”. Service is nice and quick. Ambiance is ok
