We had the great pleasure of enjoying a C.L. five-course menu, and it was outstanding in every respect. The selection of dishes was perfectly coordinated, the preparation was top-notch, and the presentation of each course was a feast for the eyes. The portion sizes were also ideal – satisfying without being too heavy. The service deserves special mention: attentive, friendly, and professional without being intrusive. From the very first moment, you feel welcome and exceptionally well cared for. A thoroughly enjoyable evening in a wonderful atmosphere – we will definitely be back!

It feels like stepping back into the Middle Ages. The atmosphere is truly amazing. Unfortunately, my meal wasn't all that great. I think that was probably because we were a group of 52 and had almost spontaneously arrived, so they had to serve us all at once and hurry so we could catch our bus on time. If I'm ever in Eisenach again, I might give it another try. There are also accommodation options there.

We went there yesterday with the whole family for Christmas dinner. Right from the start, the food was delicious. The service was very polite and attentive! But the rest was a disastrous experience. It began with the fact that, even though we arrived shortly before noon and had a reservation for 12 noon, they were still setting the tables. None of the staff spoke to any of us (the anteroom was full) to ask what was happening. Then, finally, someone from the staff came and asked us to please hang up our coats. When we were finally seated, it took almost 45 minutes to get anything to drink! The appetizer arrived after an hour, the main course another hour, and dessert came surprisingly quickly. Only after asking did the sparkling wine, which was supposed to be included with the meal, finally arrive. The sparkling wine was then poured into glasses that weren't really clean. An organizational disaster! The owner was running after his staff empty-handed, even though they were already scrambling to get everything ready! So, all in all, we'd never experienced a Christmas dinner that took 3.5 hours before!!! Unfortunately, despite our criticism of the timing, there was no apology or explanation whatsoever. The music was also so loud that it was impossible to have a conversation! It was only turned down after we asked several times! It's a shame because the restaurant is actually really nice.

We highly recommend this dinner. Our expectations were exceeded when we booked a candlelight dinner through Mydays. Everything was perfect: lovely decorations, excellent food, a cozy atmosphere with almost exclusively candles. The waitstaff were appropriately dressed and attentive; it was simply a pleasure to sit and dine there. We'll be back!

Food was good, service was odd (one waitress was in costume and one wasn't). We were seated among the knights eating, who also didn't seem very enthusiastic. All in all, I'm not sure how to categorize my visit.

An experience we won't soon forget. The food was delicious; I had medallions with mushrooms and potatoes.

The atmosphere was really lovely, however, the service was anything but "service." We weren't told how the menu was structured, nor did we see the Luther bread that had been advertised before the meal, until after we'd finished eating and noticed something being set up behind us. We couldn't see it from our seats, and unfortunately, no one mentioned it. Furthermore, apart from our first drink order, we weren't even asked if everything was to our satisfaction or if we wanted any more drinks. It was nearly impossible to communicate with the staff. And this was at lunchtime and not particularly busy. Finally, we weren't even informed that the kitchen closed at 2:00 PM, meaning we couldn't even order dessert. Unfortunately, this had nothing to do with service or a medieval vibe. The service itself didn't contribute to the medieval atmosphere either. The food was good, but for the price and our expectations, we were unfortunately very disappointed.

Not bad! For me, the room was definitely too dark. Even though there was no electric light in the Middle Ages. I awkwardly tried to decipher the rolled-up menu using my phone's flashlight. It was quite a hassle, as the menu kept rolling up again. Therefore, I'm deducting one star for that. The attentive service was good. The food was delicious. Despite everything, I'd gladly come back. We received a gift of a candlelit dinner for two and redeemed it. What can I say? It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The ambiance is wonderful, the three-course meal was superb, there was no rush, and you didn't have to wait long for the next course. All in all, the Lutherstuben restaurant is highly recommended. We decided to stay overnight at the hotel, which is also advisable. To round off the evening, we had breakfast, which left nothing to be desired at the buffet. We would like to thank the team, who really go the extra mile and are very friendly.

We were a group of 13 for dinner here. The atmosphere was fantastic. It's truly a unique dining experience. I had meat soup and bratwurst, both very tasty. I also had a cherry beer. The service was a bit lacking, though. While the staff were always very friendly, I wasn't given the opportunity to order another drink. Overall, however, it's a very great restaurant.

After reading the reviews, we really wanted to come here. But we're still annoyed. The potatoes were served cold, the ribs were very tough and barely edible. The prices are steep, and the music is a bit too loud. The ambiance itself was quite nice. It's a shame. The tables weren't wiped down either, but it's dark in there anyway.

Great food and drinks in a beautiful atmosphere

We were really looking forward to this evening. This is what happened :-(. We booked a day in advance because it was required. The reception was like this: We booked and received a QR code. The waiter said: Hang your jackets by the toilet. He didn't even ask for our names. Very strange, I don't need to book. Then we went to the breakfast room, where we were seated, even though we had booked the dining room. We waited a full 30 minutes for drinks, then we ordered the main course. After another 40 minutes, the food arrived. The skewer (chicken) wasn't cooked through. My wife's meal was cold. Mine was lukewarm. There were ZERO spices, just like the spice dispensers on the table—which were empty. There were no drinks left, why, no idea. But we weren't the only ones that evening; the same thing happened at the next table. There was no bread or side dishes with the dishes. The next table all had to ask. We saved ourselves that. We had been to the Kartoffelhaus the day before, PERFECT. There was a service there. treated like a guest. Finally, we'll never come back here.

So, really well done, medieval-style! Sebastian was truly the highlight! Please add more dressing to the salad next time. The meat was good and the side dish was plentiful. That horn was the last straw for me! We thought it was funny, but it was incredibly hot in the restaurant!

We spent a wonderful evening here today with a candlelit dinner. The ambiance was wonderful, the decor fantastic, and the food absolutely delicious. The waiter made a real effort serving us. He apologized repeatedly. However, I have to deduct a star for the service. First of all, it took forever. Someone came to take our order, and by the time our drinks arrived, we'd already been sitting for 45 minutes. As I said, otherwise it was a wonderful evening for us. And if we didn't live too far away, we'd come here more often.

A truly wonderful experience! The "cupbearer" was quite lonely in the waiting room, but still had a good view of the tables and played his role wonderfully. You didn't feel like you were being rushed through the aisles. Since the wine I was supposed to have was out, I tried mead for the first time – it was incredibly delicious! The food was outstanding all around – we haven't eaten this well in a long time. Without my husband's help, I definitely wouldn't have finished it all; no one leaves here hungry... and we "only" had three courses. Went here with friends. The food was very good, but the service was unfortunately very inconsistent and could have been improved. Furthermore, it was unfortunately far too warm in the restaurant. We probably wouldn't go here again.

Basically a great restaurant with a special ambiance. However, something really bothered us: Even while waiting to enter the dining room, we noticed that the boss was very quick with his employees. He told the receptionist to do some work and not just stand around doing nothing. We were quite shocked by how the boss attacked the lady. After eating and paying the bill, we walked past the bar to our jackets and literally heard the boss say to the staff: "If I see that again, I'll deduct 10 euros from your pay." That's not how you treat staff who stand up for themselves every day to keep the boss's cash register ringing. But that's just a side note, enjoy your meal anyway.

We booked the event dinner. The venue is beautifully decorated. Unfortunately, the service seemed seriously understaffed. The drinks took forever and were unfortunately delivered incorrectly, and the food was delicious and plentiful... just cold. The dessert was inedible; a nice idea with the flaming skewer, but rather beautiful, how delicious. The dining room was so crowded that it was difficult to hold a conversation, and it was stiflingly hot! Unfortunately, there wasn't a typical event during the meal (minnesingers or something similar). So, we probably wouldn't book it again. What a shame!

September 20, 2025 We met up with friends in Eisenach for a weekend. We ate at the Lutherstube in the evening and were very satisfied overall. The location is centrally located and really nice, the food was delicious, and the price-performance ratio was absolutely fair. The service staff was also very friendly – ​​you feel like you're in good hands. One small drawback: We sat in the garden, and when it got dark, it was unfortunately too dark to see the food properly. The small tealights on the tables didn't help much. Perhaps they could also light the large torches that were already set up – that would provide more light and atmosphere. Still, a clear recommendation for a good dinner in Eisenach!

The themed restaurant with an optional medieval experience. Food: The venison steak with mushroom cream sauce and potatoes was cooked medium-rare as ordered and served very juicy. A well-complemented trio with a woody/wild flavor in a more than generous portion. Even at a price of €36. The farmer's skewer with beef was even more substantial (at least 500g, more likely). The meat was very juicy and tender. Served with a large vegetable pan. The meat is propped up on the skewer above the pan, so you eat over several layers. It's also a visual treat. Service: You're seated quickly (waiting time <1 minute). The menus are rolled up on the table, like old documents. Drinks and food are served after a reasonable amount of time. The staff is friendly, but unfortunately, you don't see them often when the restaurant is busy. Ambience: The entire dining room is decorated in a late medieval style. Everything is a bit dark, but certainly cozy. The decoration is very detailed but not overly elaborate. Music appropriate to the era plays over small speakers. For groups of 10 or more, a juggler can be booked OPTIONALLY to entertain the guests. This means they won't always be present, allowing you to enjoy your meal in peace. Value for money: €77 (including tips) for two people with a main course and a drink each is a rather high price, but it's absolutely justified given the quantity and quality of the food. Special features: The feasts (menus) must be pre-ordered and then selected by everyone at the table! The juggler experience is optional and must be booked separately.

We don't quite understand the relatively high number of positive reviews; to us, the Lutherstube felt more like a tourist rip-off. While we had a pleasant outdoor seating area in the front garden, the service seemed completely uncoordinated, and the food was unfortunately mediocre. We had already waited almost an hour for our food, and then one of the dishes unfortunately had to be sent back to the kitchen because the bratwurst wasn't cooked. On the second attempt, they ran out of cutlery, which we eventually got ourselves inside. Patience was also required when paying. To be honest, it was quite annoying. The stars are for the ambiance and for the at least friendly staff.

I don't know of any place where you can enjoy such medieval food! From the waiter to the dessert (or, in our case, digestive schnapps), the service is absolutely thoughtful! The food is extremely good, and the ambiance couldn't be better!

Actually, no stars. We were there on August 30, 2025. We reserved a table outside. Twenty minutes later, the waitress came and asked: What do we want to order? She was very surprised that we wanted a menu. We were supposed to order it digitally. We did. After 30 minutes, two beers and two pitchers of Coke arrived. The waitress threw two menus (rolled up, A3 format) on the table. They were dirty with grease. There were no cups for the Coke. After asking, the cups arrived 15 minutes later. The food came cold after an hour. There was a spoon in the soup bowl. A coffee also came, unfortunately with a dirty teaspoon. We complained about the cold food. The waitress scowled and picked up everything. The hot food came back without the soup. The next guest probably got the bowl with the spoon. No apology. A hefty price tag of 114.00 Taler (Euros). Absolutely not worth it. Very unfriendly staff and dirty cutlery. Unfortunately, the staff forgot all the guests outside that evening. Never again!!! I absolutely don't recommend it 🤮

My wife and I had dinner here tonight. When we arrived, the people spoke little to no English. We were then shown a table. We'd already checked the website to see what was on offer, but the menu was completely different, and nothing was the same. We had soup as a starter, and I had a cherry beer and she a cocktail. Cocktails weren't available even though they were on the online menu, so she ordered a cola. We had to serve the soup ourselves; the beer was good. The cola was flat. My main course was a 1-meter plank of spareribs. It was all chunky, tough, and burnt. My wife had a pork steak, which was almost entirely fat, the cabbage was bland, and the mashed potatoes were almost cold. The atmosphere was really bad, especially for customers who didn't speak German. Positive points: the variety of beer flavors, the music, and the restaurant's decor. The rest was honestly awful. We do not recommend this restaurant.

I have never had to write a review like this before. The service was non-existent. We had to wait 40 minutes for the first drinks. Then they forgot the glasses for the drinks. They were supposed to come straight away. But what was supposed to be straight away turned into 15 minutes. A coffee we ordered came with a completely dirty spoon. For four people, every meal arrived cold. May have been because we waited 1.5 hours for the meal. The waiter who happened to show up didn't say a word that sounded even remotely like an apology. One dish wasn't served at all, but we had to pay for it later. The soup we ordered was served with the spoon in the soup. A complete no-go. Never again. I have never experienced anything like this before. How all the positive reviews come about is a mystery to me.

Since we were staying at the wonderful Ringhotel for a few days and visiting Eisenach and the surrounding area, we used the themed restaurant several times. It was simply fantastic; the food was delicious, and the staff (dressed appropriately for the theme) were friendly and hard-working, although, as is the case everywhere these days, they were understaffed. What we didn't like was that the smoking area outside wasn't clearly marked enough, and we felt disturbed by the smoking going on right in the entrance area. The interior is so stunningly beautifully designed; we're still thrilled. Unfortunately, we also had to witness the way the manager treated his employees, and we found it unprofessional and simply a shame. We would still be happy to come back.

We sat on the terrace in beautiful weather. Patience is required here; servers only occasionally come and sometimes you can order, and sometimes you can't (they send someone else). There were guests around us who weren't served at all. The food was excellent, with large portions. Bottom line: If you're sitting outside, either bring plenty of time or scan the QR code at the table to order.

We ate at the Lutherstuben today. The atmosphere is lovely, the staff is friendly and helpful. Our food, the rotisserie skewer and the spare ribs, were very good, and the portions were generous. What was really unacceptable was the manager. We had a table near the entrance, and the manager kept slamming his voice down every few minutes, so loudly that we could hear everything. Unfortunately, it wasn't very professional.

Two stars for the truly lovely ambiance. After a long wait at the table, we were finally able to order. The suckling pig with mashed potatoes was very small (we suspect a lack of resources) and tasted disappointing. Absolutely not worth the price. We won't be back.

The restaurant is very nice and the staff is nice and friendly, but the food, on the other hand, was very bad. I couldn't stand it. Maybe I ordered something bad. A meter of ribs, something... There was no hand soap in the restroom, maybe because it's supposed to be medieval?

We had to wait a bit longer for the food, but the waiter made up for it with his sweet, silly manner. So it was a lovely evening, and the food was delicious, too. Beautiful medieval music played in the background.

The manager discussed tasks with the staff in front of the guests. A friendly waitress, who unfortunately didn't serve our table, always kept an eye on us. As compensation, we at least got a horn of mead to drink. Recommended if you have the time and patience.

The food was quite good, but there were very few side dishes. The atmosphere was truly medieval. It felt like you were centuries back in time. You practically had to chase the waiter. The absolute highlight was the LUTHER CHOCOLATE. All in all, it was a successful evening.

A total disaster in terms of service (July 25, 2025, evening)!!! Especially the girl outside with braces. I've rarely experienced such bad service! They urgently need to train their employees in terms of manners, communication, friendliness, and especially posture!!! We didn't feel welcome as guests; quite the opposite was the case. We had been looking forward to our visit for weeks and had made a reservation for two weeks. We've been guests several times over the past 12 years. Today's experience (for food at this price range) was the lowest of the low, unfortunately. And we won't be coming back.

Unfortunately, we didn't get to eat because we didn't have a chance to order. Luckily, we got a round of drinks; we would have liked a second one, but there was no chance. The cappuccino we ordered never arrived either, despite asking. I haven't experienced such dismal service in a long time. A disaster!

We were here for work in December 2024. The food was delicious. I ordered the lamb skewer with cream mushrooms. The dessert was also delicious. I had the chocolate cake. The drinks were served traditionally in clay pots, but unfortunately, this altered (worsened) the taste of the drinks. The wait times were a bit longer and it took a while for service to arrive, but it was also quite busy. It was very loud, though. Sometimes it was impossible to have a conversation. Since they mainly work with candlelight, it was also quite stuffy.

The two of us went to the Lutherstuben on a Sunday in June 2025 for the 5-course "Edelmann" menu. We enjoyed all the courses excellently, especially the main courses, salmon and venison steak. Our only criticism would be that the menu served deviated significantly from the one we reserved and had posted on the menu board. Asparagus cream instead of lentil soup, salmon with tagliatelle instead of spinach, and a "three-course" dessert instead of crème brûlée. But that didn't really bother us. At €49 for the menu, the price/performance ratio was absolutely fine. Praise for our waiter, "Mundschenk" Sebastian, who served us well and played his role well.

Luther would have turned away. High expectations – small portions. The "meter-long ribs" arrived already cut and seemed more like a platter of appetizers than a hearty main course. The honey glaze made them so sweet they could almost have passed for dessert. Many items on the menu were unavailable, and the service was forgetful and slow. If you're hungry, you'd better bring some food or choose another restaurant.

Anyone who enjoys a medieval atmosphere must go here. It's best to visit with a small or large group. The food is fantastic. They even provide knives and forks. The food is excellent, the drinks are cool and served in a clay pot. The food is tailored to everyone who doesn't prefer a limited menu, and they even offer salads.

I had requested something special when I made my reservation, and I was certainly not disappointed! You're greeted and served in a wonderful medieval atmosphere. Everything is very rustic, the menu is excellent, and there was a friendly welcome from the chef. The food was also delicious.
