It was amazing. The food was great. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was fantastic. Highly recommended.

We don't quite understand the relatively high number of positive reviews; to us, the Lutherstube felt more like a tourist rip-off. While we had a pleasant outdoor seating area in the front garden, the service seemed completely uncoordinated, and the food was unfortunately mediocre. We had already waited almost an hour for our food, and then one of the dishes unfortunately had to be sent back to the kitchen because the bratwurst wasn't cooked. On the second attempt, they ran out of cutlery, which we eventually got ourselves inside. Patience was also required when paying. To be honest, it was quite annoying. The stars are for the ambiance and for the at least friendly staff.

I don't know of any place where you can enjoy such medieval food! From the waiter to the dessert (or, in our case, digestive schnapps), the service is absolutely thoughtful! The food is extremely good, and the ambiance couldn't be better!

Actually, no stars. We were there on August 30, 2025. We reserved a table outside. Twenty minutes later, the waitress came and asked: What do we want to order? She was very surprised that we wanted a menu. We were supposed to order it digitally. We did. After 30 minutes, two beers and two pitchers of Coke arrived. The waitress threw two menus (rolled up, A3 format) on the table. They were dirty with grease. There were no cups for the Coke. After asking, the cups arrived 15 minutes later. The food came cold after an hour. There was a spoon in the soup bowl. A coffee also came, unfortunately with a dirty teaspoon. We complained about the cold food. The waitress scowled and picked up everything. The hot food came back without the soup. The next guest probably got the bowl with the spoon. No apology. A hefty price tag of 114.00 Taler (Euros). Absolutely not worth it. Very unfriendly staff and dirty cutlery. Unfortunately, the staff forgot all the guests outside that evening. Never again!!! I absolutely don't recommend it 🤮

My wife and I had dinner here tonight. When we arrived, the people spoke little to no English. We were then shown a table. We'd already checked the website to see what was on offer, but the menu was completely different, and nothing was the same. We had soup as a starter, and I had a cherry beer and she a cocktail. Cocktails weren't available even though they were on the online menu, so she ordered a cola. We had to serve the soup ourselves; the beer was good. The cola was flat. My main course was a 1-meter plank of spareribs. It was all chunky, tough, and burnt. My wife had a pork steak, which was almost entirely fat, the cabbage was bland, and the mashed potatoes were almost cold. The atmosphere was really bad, especially for customers who didn't speak German. Positive points: the variety of beer flavors, the music, and the restaurant's decor. The rest was honestly awful. We do not recommend this restaurant.

I have never had to write a review like this before. The service was non-existent. We had to wait 40 minutes for the first drinks. Then they forgot the glasses for the drinks. They were supposed to come straight away. But what was supposed to be straight away turned into 15 minutes. A coffee we ordered came with a completely dirty spoon. For four people, every meal arrived cold. May have been because we waited 1.5 hours for the meal. The waiter who happened to show up didn't say a word that sounded even remotely like an apology. One dish wasn't served at all, but we had to pay for it later. The soup we ordered was served with the spoon in the soup. A complete no-go. Never again. I have never experienced anything like this before. How all the positive reviews come about is a mystery to me.

Highly recommended. If you want to dine in a medieval setting and by candlelight, this is the place for you. Delicious and varied food to suit all tastes, and in generous portions. The service is friendly and attentive. I'd be happy to return.

Since we were staying at the wonderful Ringhotel for a few days and visiting Eisenach and the surrounding area, we used the themed restaurant several times. It was simply fantastic; the food was delicious, and the staff (dressed appropriately for the theme) were friendly and hard-working, although, as is the case everywhere these days, they were understaffed. What we didn't like was that the smoking area outside wasn't clearly marked enough, and we felt disturbed by the smoking going on right in the entrance area. The interior is so stunningly beautifully designed; we're still thrilled. Unfortunately, we also had to witness the way the manager treated his employees, and we found it unprofessional and simply a shame. We would still be happy to come back.

I had a great time at Erlebnisrestaurant Lutherstuben. The interior has a unique, historical charm that creates a special atmosphere. The food was delicious and authentic, perfectly fitting the theme of the place. The staff were welcoming and attentive, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. A wonderful spot for anyone who wants both tasty food and a memorable setting.

We sat on the terrace in beautiful weather. Patience is required here; servers only occasionally come and sometimes you can order, and sometimes you can't (they send someone else). There were guests around us who weren't served at all. The food was excellent, with large portions. Bottom line: If you're sitting outside, either bring plenty of time or scan the QR code at the table to order.

We ate at the Lutherstuben today. The atmosphere is lovely, the staff is friendly and helpful. Our food, the rotisserie skewer and the spare ribs, were very good, and the portions were generous. What was really unacceptable was the manager. We had a table near the entrance, and the manager kept slamming his voice down every few minutes, so loudly that we could hear everything. Unfortunately, it wasn't very professional.

Two stars for the truly lovely ambiance. After a long wait at the table, we were finally able to order. The suckling pig with mashed potatoes was very small (we suspect a lack of resources) and tasted disappointing. Absolutely not worth the price. We won't be back.

The restaurant is very nice and the staff is nice and friendly, but the food, on the other hand, was very bad. I couldn't stand it. Maybe I ordered something bad. A meter of ribs, something... There was no hand soap in the restroom, maybe because it's supposed to be medieval?

A great location with delicious food but overwhelmed staff. The live musician kept the guests in a good mood with great music and witty remarks. The service was anything but good. We had to wait 30 minutes for drinks and 60 minutes for our pre-ordered food, which was unfortunately only lukewarm. The staff behind the counter were completely chaotic. The manager discussed tasks with the staff in front of the guests. A friendly waitress, who unfortunately didn't serve our table, always kept an eye on us. As compensation, we at least got a horn of mead to drink. Recommended if you have the time and patience.

Sad. We've been here repeatedly over the years, but today, July 25, 2025, it was a very mixed experience: the food (from the chanterelle menu 👍) was excellent, but the service... unfortunately, left me speechless 🥺 Please don't treat your dining experience like this.

The food was quite good, but there were very few side dishes. The atmosphere was truly medieval. It felt like you were centuries back in time. You practically had to chase the waiter. The absolute highlight was the LUTHER CHOCOLATE. All in all, it was a successful evening.

A total disaster in terms of service (July 25, 2025, evening)!!! Especially the girl outside with braces. I've rarely experienced such bad service! They urgently need to train their employees in terms of manners, communication, friendliness, and especially posture!!! We didn't feel welcome as guests; quite the opposite was the case. We had been looking forward to our visit for weeks and had made a reservation for two weeks. We've been guests several times over the past 12 years. Today's experience (for food at this price range) was the lowest of the low, unfortunately. And we won't be coming back.

Unfortunately, we didn't get to eat because we didn't have a chance to order. Luckily, we got a round of drinks; we would have liked a second one, but there was no chance. The cappuccino we ordered never arrived either, despite asking. I haven't experienced such dismal service in a long time. A disaster!

A really nice experience, food was also very tasty

We were here for work in December 2024. The food was delicious. I ordered the lamb skewer with cream mushrooms. The dessert was also delicious. I had the chocolate cake. The drinks were served traditionally in clay pots, but unfortunately, this altered (worsened) the taste of the drinks. The wait times were a bit longer and it took a while for service to arrive, but it was also quite busy. It was very loud, though. Sometimes it was impossible to have a conversation. Since they mainly work with candlelight, it was also quite stuffy.

The two of us went to the Lutherstuben on a Sunday in June 2025 for the 5-course "Edelmann" menu. We enjoyed all the courses excellently, especially the main courses, salmon and venison steak. Our only criticism would be that the menu served deviated significantly from the one we reserved and had posted on the menu board. Asparagus cream instead of lentil soup, salmon with tagliatelle instead of spinach, and a "three-course" dessert instead of crème brûlée. But that didn't really bother us. At €49 for the menu, the price/performance ratio was absolutely fine. Praise for our waiter, "Mundschenk" Sebastian, who served us well and played his role well.

Sorry, that was nothing. Service was really bad. Soup came before the drinks, which took a whopping 40 minutes to arrive. The food arrived lukewarm, and when the cutlery was finally handed over after another five minutes, it was cold, tasteless, and the meat was tough. The staff were clueless and simply overwhelmed. Maybe we were just having a bad day. 🤷

Luther would have turned away. High expectations – small portions. The "meter-long ribs" arrived already cut and seemed more like a platter of appetizers than a hearty main course. The honey glaze made them so sweet they could almost have passed for dessert. Many items on the menu were unavailable, and the service was forgetful and slow. If you're hungry, you'd better bring some food or choose another restaurant.

We went out to eat last night. The reservation was completely straightforward and very friendly. The reception was also very friendly. The atmosphere is simply fantastic and perfectly coordinated. The food was simply amazing; everything was perfectly seasoned, and I'd never eaten the ingredients prepared like this before. I wholeheartedly recommend it; I'll definitely go back on my next visit.

Anyone who enjoys a medieval atmosphere must go here. It's best to visit with a small or large group. The food is fantastic. They even provide knives and forks. The food is excellent, the drinks are cool and served in a clay pot. The food is tailored to everyone who doesn't prefer a limited menu, and they even offer salads.

I had requested something special when I made my reservation, and I was certainly not disappointed! You're greeted and served in a wonderful medieval atmosphere. Everything is very rustic, the menu is excellent, and there was a friendly welcome from the chef. The food was also delicious. So if you're looking for something different from the standard local fare and enjoy being friendly and different, this is the place for you. Highly recommended!

We expected more from the quality of the food. The venison qulasch was rather tough, the vegetables lacked any sauce, and the bread dumplings were nothing special either. The lamb fillet was good, but very little. The ambiance was as expected, special and in keeping with the style. Unfortunately, it was very warm and stuffy in the restaurant. The service was okay.

I was there for dinner yesterday! I had high hopes but unfortunately they weren't quite met! Which I found very unfortunate! We ordered a multi-course meal! That takes time! The starter and a salad arrived on time! The starter soup was ready separately, but when we wanted to get it there wasn't much left and it wasn't refilled! The containers were positioned so awkwardly that we hindered the staff in their work! Which was not exactly friendly to us! We then had to wait quite a long time for the main course! Other guests had already had their desserts! I hope this is not the norm! Many thanks to our waiter who had to put up with our criticism! I will be back again! And then you will certainly get the remaining 4 stars too!

An absolute must in Eisenach. It was so cozy. The food was super delicious, and the beer in the clay mugs was especially good. A unique experience.

Was there last night. It's something different but when I looked in my bag at home and I was missing money and a colleague was missing money, I wasn't at all happy. If you go out to eat there you have to take great care of your things!!!!

In this wonderful, rustic atmosphere you can enjoy traditional food and drinks from Luther's time. It is actually an experience, from the greeting to the walk to the latrine. Pre-registration is cheap and you should also bring enough time. It's worth it!

I was skeptical at first when I heard the word “experience gastronomy”, but I was proven wrong. Nice atmosphere with heavy wooden furniture and lots of candles and Sebastian, a cupbearer, who really lived his role and entertained us very well with his sayings. In addition, delicious and well-prepared dishes, in our case the farmer's skewer and the ribs. Our dogs were also warmly welcomed. In short: we had a great evening!

It worked....Long waiting times....we waited about an hour for our food.....Beer and shandy weren't very tasty, tasted like they were watered down, skewers were well presented but were hardly edible....very tough meat....almost ridiculous for the price....

Many more stars should be awarded for the service. With humor, charm and costumes, everything is served warmly and everything is taken care of. Dogs of all sizes are also welcome and the food is delicious. This isn't eating out, it's an experience and worth every second. Especially to our waiter Sebastian: We fell in love with you, you made our evening something very special! ❤️❤️

A brilliant place to dine. The ambience amidst the many burning candles and the wooden elements as well as the slightly winding dining room is impressive. The food tastes delicious and the menu is really good and consistent. The meat on the skewer was well cooked and also well seasoned. The flowing courses are wonderful. If you combine the horn round with toasts, the atmosphere becomes even more rustic. There is a perfect relationship between price and performance here. Last but not least, the service is awesome, so funny and accommodating! A great experience, again and again!

Booked twice - overbooked twice The food and the ambience are great and we would like to come back, but the fact that we had booked a table twice long in advance and then only had trouble in the evening means that we are having our Christmas dinner somewhere else this year. 2023: overbooked, 1 hour waiting time for the table and that only after pressure. 2024: overbooked, we should be ready with food in 1.5 hours, trouble here again. Therefore unfortunately only 2 stars

The Lutherstube in Eisenach is an interesting restaurant that impresses with its historical charm. Particularly noteworthy is the rustic interior, which creates an authentic and cozy atmosphere, and a waiter who simply thrives in his role. Unfortunately, you also have to make some deductions when it comes to the ambience: The lighting takes place exclusively via candles. This makes it quite dark, which makes it difficult to read the menu and see if there are any drinks left in the mug. Because of the crowd and the candles, the room continued to heat up. Our waiter was able to open a skylight slightly, but unfortunately there was no cooling effect. The volume was also very high, which made it difficult to have a conversation at the table. In summary: A promising event location with rustic cuisine, but which could benefit from a few improvements in terms of ambience and service.

I would prefer not to give a star at all... this was by far the worst restaurant visit I've ever had. Nothing was right - we weren't served, the first drink came after 45 minutes and the main course 2 and a half hours after we arrived. Most of it was cold and parts of the chicken weren't cooked through... just disgusting. Pure chaos for the waiters. Completely overbooked and too few staff. A waiter was good, he tried to get the best out of it, but he couldn't be with all the guests at the same time. The value for money is definitely not right at all - €50 per person and then the food isn't even warm or edible. I would advise everyone against it and never go there again.

Definitely worth a visit! Apart from a few little things that I just noticed, it's a great location! The service was very friendly and despite the lack of staff it was relatively quick. From my perspective, I would have liked them to stick to the choice of words for the food and drinks. Personally, I would have liked the cutlery to be different. All in one piece would have been nice, but as I said, only small things. The whole atmosphere is harmonious and simply great!!! The highlight were the toilets. You simply have to seek them out! I would definitely come back at any time and can only give one recommendation. But I also believe that a previous visit to the Wartburg reinforces the whole thing. Then the feeling fits even better.

We redeemed an experience voucher for a candlelight dinner with a 3-course menu via MyDays. The atmosphere and service were very friendly and nice. The food was also really tasty, although unfortunately the portions were very small, so you didn't get full. But the worst thing was the waiting times between the individual courses. It was 45 minutes between starter and main course and even 1 hour between main course and dessert. Some of the other guests and we sat there very annoyed and didn't feel like it anymore. Furthermore, you sit at a table with other people, which doesn't really resemble a romantic candlelight dinner.

Truly an experience restaurant! We ordered the Luther feast for 8 people, everyone was thrilled with the food, the service, the ambience, we were super full, totally relaxed and will definitely be back!

Something rustic and different. Food was good.

A clocky and cozy restaurant. The super friendly and courteous restaurant staff invite you to linger. There are some highlights such as the table grill or the burning fruit skewers for dessert. Also ideal for company celebrations :)

We were in the restaurant as part of a group trip with many older people. The theater performance was canceled due to a lack of actors. The food was served in bowls for several people. The distribution was based on the motto “Whoever comes first gets it”. There was one meat skewer for every 6 people. Dividing it with dull knives required some skill. In my opinion the meat was very overcooked and tasted burnt. For dessert there was flambéed fruit on a skewer. We had to sit very close to each other. There was almost no freedom of movement. The room light was very dark. The service was good, friendly and competent. I wouldn't want to come back myself.

The ambience and food were really good! BUT: The main course was only served after 2.5 hours and during this time there was exactly 1 drink, which is really poor, it ruins everything else that was nice! If you put so many people in one room then things definitely have to be quicker!

Unfortunately we were totally unlucky. We had reserved well in advance as we were also hotel guests. After a while of waiting, we were shown to our table in the hotel's breakfast room. That wasn't the problem, it became annoying that we weren't served, after half an hour we asked who we could order from... well the order was taken, but nothing came... after a while We asked if we wanted anything else....🙈we then mentioned that we hadn't received anything yet. I know there is stress, but the lack of interest in the conditions was unacceptable. The restaurant itself is great.

The Luther feast was okay. We had booked with Lutherschauspiel, this is described on the homepage completely differently than it is ultimately presented! At our meal there was a minstrel who mainly explained and played his musical instruments.
