Despite high occupancy on New Year's Eve, the service was very good and friendly with short waiting times.

One of the best restaurants in Eisenach. Very pleasant atmosphere. My recommendation: the Espresso Martini.

This restaurant, located right next to the theater, is a wonderful place to eat. Excellent service, friendly staff, and a great atmosphere invite you to linger. If you're ever in Eisenach, you should definitely stop by. Reservations are required, though. There's something for everyone to eat here, and the price-performance ratio is excellent. Highly recommended. We'll definitely be back.

We were really looking forward to celebrating our three-year anniversary at the Alte Schule restaurant in Eisenach and had reserved a table in advance. However, upon arrival, we were seated at a small table for two right next to a kind of counter in the back right corner of the restaurant, which felt more like an afterthought. Next to us was a bucket of dirty water, and behind the counter were stacked chairs, making the whole experience very uncomfortable. Furthermore, a staircase led directly to the open kitchen next to our table, so we constantly had a view of the stored food. The noise level was high, and overall, the atmosphere was anything but cozy. When we asked the staff for a different table, it took a long time for anyone to respond, and we were eventually told that no other tables were available. Since we wanted to spend the evening in a more pleasant atmosphere, we ended up going to a different restaurant. This was extremely disappointing, especially since we had chosen this place because of our fond memories. Unfortunately, last night left a bad taste in our mouths, and we hope that the Alte Schule will reconsider the placement of its tables in the future.

Overall, the food was very good, but the antipasti platter for two was drowning in tomatoes, olives, and mushrooms. We found the carpaccio and Parmesan by chance.

The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was nice, but the menu didn't meet my expectations. The Christmas menu didn't include any classic Christmas dishes. Out of desperation, I ordered grilled liver with fried potatoes and yogurt dip, which also wasn't what I was looking for. The fried potatoes were edible, but the liver was completely overcooked and dry, making it inedible. Afterwards, we went to the Kartoffelhaus (Potato House) for dinner.

The old school is a great restaurant with delicious food and friendly, attentive staff. The atmosphere is fantastic. We'll definitely be back.

We visited the Alte Schule a year ago and were impressed by both the pleasant atmosphere and the quality of the food. Unfortunately, both have deteriorated. The restaurant now feels overly styled, efficiency-driven, and therefore impersonal. We found the food far too expensive for the quality offered. The antipasti platter was unimaginative (a mountain of olives) and bland, and there's no daily specials menu. The only positive aspect was the green salad, which they served without salmon upon request. The ordering cube is a good idea in theory, and someone does come quickly. Unfortunately, it seems to mean that the little things that aren't actively requested are overlooked. It's a shame; in my opinion, they could do so much more with it, especially considering the prices.

Service, food, and atmosphere...a great restaurant. There's no hint of the old-fashioned feel...unless you go to the restroom. That's not meant to be a negative point, though. You walk through a school corridor to get there.

Unfortunately, the food is a bit underwhelming for the price and could be prepared differently. The taste, however, is excellent!

Our spontaneous decision to dine at a previously unfamiliar restaurant was not disappointed. A very innovative restaurant with exceptionally friendly and communicative service and excellent food. We highly recommend it!

We were here with another couple of friends and simply wanted a surprise. And the surprise was more than successful. The service staff create a familiar atmosphere and don't constantly appear at your table. Instead, there's a dice on each table that you can use to summon someone at the touch of a button to order or pay. The food was incredibly delicious, and the drinks menu leaves nothing to be desired, even non-alcoholic options. We could certainly have stayed longer. Chapeau, everything is done right here.

A very nice restaurant with good food and friendly, fast service. The Pina Colada is amazing, and from 10 p.m. onwards, it became a lounge-like atmosphere. We had a very pleasant evening there with our group of 14 people.

According to Google's "Vegan Food" menu, there's only one vegan appetizer platter. They don't offer vegan options, even when asked! So order ONLY fries—🤦‍♀️—and they come with yogurt dip... Conclusion: not suitable for vegans!!!

A truly wonderful ambiance, very stylishly decorated. Excellent service. The rump steak with Alfredo pasta was fantastic, and the chicken burger was good but a bit tasteless. Nothing particularly exciting, then. But everything was good quality and fresh. Highly recommended.

The restaurant is beautifully decorated, and the atmosphere is relaxed. My personal highlight is the order cube, which you can use to call for service or pay. Unfortunately, we had too much fun pressing and using the cube, so ours was turned off. So everything is perfect, but don't press the order cube too often.

Highly recommended! Everything was fully booked, and without a reservation, you have almost no chance of getting a table. It was incredibly stressful for the waiters and the kitchen, but everyone was polite and courteous. Thanks to the dice on the tables (for ordering or paying), we never had to wait long. The food was very good, and even with large groups, they made sure everyone could eat together. I also loved the smooth transition between the restaurant and bar atmosphere later on! Review update 01.03.24; We were back at the old school for a family dinner for the first time in a while. Everyone really liked the menu (they even had Jägerschnitzel, GDR-style or old-school style ;-)) and the dishes, and they tasted good. The price-performance ratio was good. Using the service cube, the waiter was at the table almost immediately, and our requests were fulfilled very quickly and with great friendliness! There was nothing to complain about!

Great restaurant. When we travel to East Germany, we plan our trip so we can eat at the old school in Eisenach. The food is always good, and the service and staff are excellent.

One positive aspect is that the restaurant is open on Mondays. The food was delicious and the portions were adequate. The service staff varied greatly, from diligent to standing around. As a tourist who's just arrived in Eisenach and is looking for an open restaurant, it's not a good feeling to be immediately told that you should make a reservation. The price-performance ratio was okay. One more tip: We were offered a schnapps on the house when paying. Since we're not allowed to drink alcohol, it would be nice to offer alternatives, such as an espresso or something similar on the house.

The ambiance is great. The food and service are okay, but not quite up to scratch. The rump steak (€30) was medium-well done and quite small. The schnitzel had more of a frozen-food vibe. The kitchen was flexible, though; I requested salad instead of fries.

We went here because of the good reviews. Unfortunately, we can't understand them at all. Yes, the ambiance is nice, the service too, but the food and drinks were, unfortunately, an absolute disaster. A Hugo with lemon... The pork schnitzel is almost certainly frozen and tasted accordingly. The fact that the food was ready in less than 10 minutes doesn't speak volumes about the quality. For €20.90, that's honestly outrageous, and you could almost expect a real Wiener schnitzel for that. Unfortunately, we can't recommend this place at all.

The "Alte Schule" (Old School) tries to offer high-priced, diverse regional cuisine. Service and quality are only average, but the drinks are simply too expensive. The ambiance is pleasant. Conclusion: Not recommended. That was the unanimous opinion of our entire group... Never again. There are much nicer, cheaper, and better restaurants in Eisenach.

I had beef liver, which was garnished like a shoe sole, with far too many canned fried onions and soggy, lukewarm fried potatoes. I think it's outrageous to pay almost €25 for that.

Unfortunately, we couldn't sit outside due to the threat of rain, but were seated nicely inside. The service was very prompt and attentive, perhaps thanks in part to a Bluetooth cube on the table. The prices were a bit "exaggerated" for us (e.g., for the salads), but they were worth it considering the size. Personally, I could imagine someone not finishing that portion. Perhaps something smaller and cheaper? Just food for thought! My grilled pork steak was a little dry, and the sauce lacked depth. But it was still tasty. My husband praised the beef liver. It was accompanied by a very good Sauvignon Blanc and a non-alcoholic beer, both well chilled. All in all, a successful evening.

The Old School is a nice, slightly more upscale restaurant. The ambiance is stylish and you feel at home. I had nothing to complain about with the food. I had a picanha. These are five small pieces of beef that were well seasoned. It came with regular fries (you can also order sweet potatoes), a small salad, and bowls of chimichurry and a herb dip. My wife had a chicken burger, but the bun was unfortunately a bit dry. For starters, we had the Bruschetta Old School in four varieties (two different cheeses, classic and with herb cream and mushrooms), which was quite good. Next time, though, I would go for the classic one. We also had feta in puff pastry, which you should definitely try. It was fantastic. I really like the concept of the dice on the table, which you can use to call the waiter or order the bill. And it worked really well. In general, the service was very attentive and prompt. The online reservation worked well. It's also a good idea to make a reservation; when we visited, all the tables were occupied.

It didn't taste that bad, but seriously: Almost €20 for a plate of pasta with canned mushrooms? That was the case with all four dishes: inferior (ready-made) ingredients (including imitation cheese) at far too high prices. Service took a long time at first, but later got faster. Atmosphere: It was fine outside in good weather. Conclusion: Food lacking in love, prices exorbitant. (Poor value for money)

At the demopark, the staff was very stressed and under pressure. Food 👍 so you're happy to wait a bit longer.

We can't comment on the food, as we only had drinks there. The staff was friendly and nice. Now for the negatives: If you order a cocktail (a Caipirinha), I expect crushed ice in the glass, not ice cubes. They really skimped on the alcohol! The taste wasn't great, and for 10.90, I would have expected something better.

We're here on vacation, which is a real shame. Not that we're here on vacation, but that we certainly won't be able to come back anytime soon. We were thrilled with everything and hope the chef enjoyed it too. Best wishes.

The restaurant was highly praised, so I was rather chastened afterward. Mainstream food, well decorated but lacking in refinement. Too expensive, in my opinion. What left a lasting, positive impression was the attentive and friendly service. The outdoor area is lovely, but hard to find at dinnertime.

A very disappointing experience. We waited over an hour and a half for our drinks and almost two hours for the food. The service was completely disorganized, no one really cared – and there wasn't even an apology. When the food was finally ready, we had to take it with us because we had to move on. They also packed the wrong dishes for us. There was little response to our feedback, just a minimal discount. Overall, a very frustrating experience – not recommended. I will definitely never go to this restaurant again.

During our vacation near Eisenach, we had dinner at the Alte Schule twice and were absolutely thrilled both times :-) The ambiance is exceptional, the service outstanding, and the food hard to beat! Special mention goes to the rack of lamb, which is incredibly delicious.

Everything fits together here. The people who work here radiate warmth and calm. We were able to enjoy our really excellent meal completely undisturbed because we were able to decide for ourselves when we wanted to use the digital service cube on our table. After the theater we went straight back to the restaurant and enjoyed a delicious cocktail in a very atmospheric ambience and well-selected music. We will definitely come back and recommend this insider tip.
