We stayed at this lovely hotel over Pentecost. The room was very spacious, the beds comfortable, and everything very clean. The breakfast buffet left nothing to be desired. The hotel's location is excellent, right in the city center and right next to the Luther House. We really enjoyed it and would love to come back.

Extremely centrally located, less than 100 meters from the market square. My room was somewhat limited in light due to a wall, but that was okay, as it kept the room from getting too hot. The breakfast was very plentiful and varied, with a good selection. The staff was very friendly, attentive, and courteous. I'd also like to give it an extra bonus point for the fact that, for environmental reasons, rooms are only serviced upon request. The parking garage is under video surveillance, and bicycle parking is free. However, the parking spaces are quite limited, so perhaps they should reconsider installing additional bike racks, as the bikes were parked rather jumbled together.

very central, friendly staff, huge room and delicious breakfast

We stayed at this hotel on July 29, 2025. Perfect location, well-suited for bikers. We had room 506, in the attic. The room has a small window, and the door hits the bed when opened, because the room is so large. The outrageous thing is that this room is exactly as expensive as the much better rooms on other levels. The lady at the reception desk that day was rude and impertinent when we complained. Breakfast was good, and the staff there were very nice! The location saves everything.

Unfortunately, we didn't get the room shown on Booking.com, but a sloping room with old-fashioned furnishings and no bedside lighting. The bed was located under the sloping roof, and on one side, it was almost impossible to get out of bed because of a supporting pillar. The carpet was dirty, old, and the walls were damaged. The supposed mini-fridge turned out to be a small cabinet with compartments. The lady at the reception desk wasn't willing to upgrade us to the room we had booked or at least provide bedside lamps. The walk to the room: dirty, partially torn carpet, dingy! The breakfast buffet was okay, but the rolls were a bit dry/stale? You had to search for the toilet on the first floor, accessible only through long hallways and winding paths. A complete renovation and modernization would be a good idea.

Booked a nice, bright, well-equipped room, but got a crappy one. No lamps next to the bed, so I had to move the desk lamp to a dark corner. The sloping ceiling was so low that you kept hitting your head on the ceiling. You can't call it a "standard room."

Large room and great location. Parking for hotel guests costs €15 per day. People smoke in the backyard, and the smell permeates the room (especially room 103).

It's nice here, parking can be booked at the hotel, and it's quiet despite its city location. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are modern. The beds are great. The breakfast is delicious and plentiful, with something for every taste. A small wellness area in the basement provides additional relaxation. Small bars and restaurants all around invite you to linger. The city location is perfect for a short stroll through the city. We felt very comfortable and will definitely come back.

The hotel is very centrally located, right on the market square next to the Luther House. All the sights and the Wartburg Castle are within easy walking distance. Our room was spacious, very clean, and attractive, the breakfast was plentiful, and the staff was very attentive, friendly, and competent. We felt very comfortable. Parking can be booked separately; excellent value for money!

Service, location, and breakfast were top-notch. The room was clean but not quite as chic, but it did have a balcony overlooking the inner courtyard. Our motorcycles were parked in one of the garages free of charge. Numerous restaurants are within five minutes' walk. A 24/7 vending machine is available in the lobby.

Great hotel with full marks. Minor issues were addressed immediately. The breakfast was beyond words delicious and plentiful. Freshness is a top priority here. The buffet is always refilled promptly. Excellent, please keep it up. We'd love to come back.

We booked this hotel for a short trip. It's very centrally located, and the Old Town, Wartburg Castle, and hiking trails are all within easy reach. The rooms are very large and spacious, and there was absolutely nothing to complain about. We didn't lack for anything at breakfast either. If I had one complaint, it would be that you have to pay an extra ten euros per day for parking. Something like that could be included in the price.

It's a shame. It's actually a good hotel. When you're greeted for breakfast on the weekend with "we don't open until 7:00," I understand. I just wait five minutes. Then the first lecture: "But that's posted everywhere." This lecture wasn't necessary. But then it seemed odd to me. The website actually says: "Breakfast is served daily from 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays until 10:30 a.m.." It continued in that vein. The waitress added, "We need the seats again as soon as possible," and "Once you've eaten, you have to get up right away, we need the seats." And without me even replying, the next bombshell: "We need our guests to work with us, not against us." That hit home. Where are we? I thought we were in a hotel. I felt more like I was at a school camp or in a barracks. I expected a polite and courteous greeting. Sure, in Germany, you're often used to a brisk tone in service. But that! Then I, and later other guests who come in, are unprompted and unnecessarily bothered: "I'm here alone today, I'm a lone fighter today." Yes, thank you. Even if it's difficult at times, you shouldn't drag customers into it. Especially not prophylactically, so to speak, before the slightest problem has even arisen. We finished breakfast at 8:10. There were three other guests in the room besides us. Dear Hotel Manager: If it's in your interest to ensure that hotel guests feel comfortable, I recommend you train your staff. I no longer felt comfortable in your hotel.

Beautifully centrally located, a very good starting point for numerous explorations in the surrounding area. Employees are very, very nice, whether from the first contact by email, then on site to check out. Room/bathroom large and clean. Breakfast, lots of choice, very plentiful. Dinner at the sister hotel was also delicious, and the staff there was also very friendly. All in all, we can only recommend it.

We'd love to come back! Great location for visiting the various cultural sites in Eisennach, such as the Bach House, Martin Luther House, etc. Our room 206, overlooking the inner courtyard, was large and functionally furnished. The room was very clean. Thanks to the good fairies from housekeeping. One negative point is the overly soft mattresses in the bed. They should consider replacing them. Check-in at the reception was professional, and parking within the hotel area costs €10. There are public parking spaces in front of the hotel, which require a parking permit. The hotel has a sauna area that is available to guests free of charge. The breakfast buffet had a very good selection; the freshness and quality of the food was excellent. Our special thanks go to the entire staff for their friendliness and helpfulness during our stay.

A beautiful hotel right in the center with its own parking lot. The rooms are clean, and the breakfast buffet is very large and plentiful. There's something for everyone here.

The hotel has a very good location, just a 10-minute walk from the city center. The room was comfortable, with a minibar and work desk. The cleanliness was excellent. Everything was tidy and well-maintained. The staff was friendly, but the service was sometimes a bit slow. Overall, it was a pleasant stay. The prices are fair for the service provided.

One of the best places we have stayed in towns in Germany. This is located in city centre. We stayed here during December and Christmas market is in Front of the hotel. Check in time is 3 pm but we reached early and the receptionist did help to get the room 30 mins early. The lobby has good sofas to sit and wait. The room was spacious and clean. Only one point to note that we could hear people talking outside at night and any noise in the street could be heard inside. The Breakfast was fantastic. Good for vegetarian/ egg eating people and non vegetarian. Good choice of breads, cheese, veggies scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, fruits. All the staff at the hotel was helpful. Overall very good experience and value for money.

I stayed in the hotel for about 2 weeks and here is my conclusion. Location 5/5: Very good location. Everything can be reached on foot and the area is very clean. You should keep in mind that there is a primary school right next door and the courtyard faces the hotel. It can get very loud, but that didn't bother me personally. Room (single room) 1/5: The walls are so thin that I could hear my roommates (snoring, phone calls, going to the toilet, etc.). This was particularly annoying when some guests decided to take a shower at 0230 or get up at 0500 and tear half the place apart. Furthermore, the room door was 'leaking'. A very wide slit at the bottom of the door not only ensured that all conversations from the hallway echoed into the room, but also created holiday lighting in the room at night. In addition, the combination of thin walls and door means you can see every movement in the hallway. Bathroom 1.5/5: At first glance the bathroom is great. After a closer look, not anymore. The shower had black mold in the joints and in the gap between the wall and the shower screen. Even though I showered every evening, the shower discharge stank extremely. Sometimes it was so bad that I felt sick as soon as I opened the bathroom door. I quickly understood why the cleaners had put the doormat there in a 'decorative' way. ;-) Facility 4/5: The room furnishings are completely okay. However, I would have liked a small refrigerator and kettle. Especially considering that there is only breakfast in the hotel and lunch and dinner have to be taken away. Breakfast 4/5: The buffet is fine. After three days I was sick of it. Only two of three warm dishes and one pastry changed every day. My wish would have been that bacon or pancakes might have been offered. Actually a standard. Staff 5/5: Everyone was very nice and accommodating. Internet -10/5: I sometimes had to attend online meetings. It was hell. My theory is: as soon as many guests are logged in, the connection is lost. Sometimes it stopped every 2 minutes and took several minutes to reconnect. At some point I gave up and only used my data allowance. Conclusion: In short: for over €900 I expect better. The hotel advertises excellent services, which are not reflected. If I come to Eisenach again, I will definitely choose another hotel. If you want to relax and unwind, you should do the same.

First of all: The service is very good, the employees are always helpful and friendly. I had the pleasure of staying at the hotel for one night. I wouldn't be there any longer, here's why. The hotel is in urgent need of renovation. The rooms felt like I was at my parents' home, saying hello to the 80s/90s. The doors to the hallway are also very noisy, so I was woken up by another hotel guest at around 4:45 a.m. Mind you, by opening his room door. The doors also have a door alarm that (as it seems to me) goes off if they are opened “wrongly”. Even at night. After that I was woken up again and again almost every hour: around 6 a.m. the first pensioners made their way to the buffet. At around 7 a.m. I was woken up by the ringing of the church bells (the church is opposite). At around 7:30 a.m. the school bell rang from the school next door and screaming children made their presence felt. After this hour-long torment, I got up. Sleeping in or sleeping peacefully is therefore not possible/unthinkable. The breakfast buffet is quite okay. Nothing extraordinary. Interestingly, there was no bacon with the scrambled eggs. Furthermore, for environmental and energy-saving reasons (which it is committed to doing), the hotel could finally convert all lamps to LED lamps. Halogen lamps are still used almost universally. Otherwise, the location is great and the hotel's well-thought-out decoration is reminiscent of the production of the "Wartburg" cars.

We spontaneously stayed there for two nights and were warmly welcomed in the evening by our colleague from Greifswald (greetings to him). Rooms aren't super new but everything is clean and fresh. Everything you need is there, hairdryer, shower, TV, WiFi, comfortable bed... We didn't have a fridge, but we didn't need it either. The breakfast was great. Everything your heart desires... We found all the staff to be pleasant, friendly and nice. Price/performance was right for us. We would recommend it and visit it again ourselves if it takes us to Eisenach again.... Thank you 😊

I was allowed to move into Göbels Sophien's "little sister hotel" for a week in November 2023 because the Sophien Hotel was fully occupied. First of all: old, musty hotel on the market with ancient furnishings. Small bathroom and an equally musty roof room. It's probably also due to the ancient carpet floor. Mattresses are through. Simply no “feel good” possible. It urgently needs a general renovation and definitely doesn't deserve a 3*. For breakfast: very clear for the price. Only 2 different rolls to choose from. (If these are supposed to come from a baker, then it's not the best in his profession.) Conclusion: definitely not recommended unless you are into “nostalgia”. The central location is good. Then book the Göbels Sophien Hotel straight away.

Well located as a starting point for visiting the city. Rooms are ok, but in my opinion a bit expensive for the standard. The restaurant is now closed and only serves breakfast. The staff at breakfast were very friendly and the buffet had everything you needed. The reception is only staffed for a few hours a day.

Highly recommended. We were in Eisenach because we both wanted to take part in the class reunion of our former teaching colleagues. Unfortunately the class reunion had to be canceled for personal reasons and we went to Eisenach with a couple who were friends of ours. It was very nice there and we both enjoyed it We were able to really relax. The staff was very nice and the rooms are also very nice. The breakfast was very tasty. We will recommend you. We were in Eisenach for 4 days and booked the hotel with breakfast. We would book it again in a heartbeat: great room, great breakfast, friendly staff and a top location.

Spend the night in the middle of Eisenach - exactly how I imagined it! I received a very warm welcome, the room was spacious, the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was rich and very lovingly prepared. There was something for every taste. Thanks to its central location, all museums and other sights are just a stone's throw away. The parking lot is directly behind the hotel. I can fully recommend the Hotel am Markt.

Great location, really friendly staff, the room is spacious. The bed is a bit too soft for my opinion, the carpet is no longer necessary for hygienic reasons, and the radiator in the bathroom is rusty. That's why only 4 stars. Breakfast for every taste, all in all a suitable small hotel for a short stay 👍
