I've honestly never had such bad Italian food! The breaded veal escalope alla Milanese served to me, like the fried potatoes, was dripping with fat, and the breading, usually seasoned with Parmesan, clung to the meat and had no flavor at all! The fried potatoes, as well as the admittedly fresh and crisply cooked vegetable side dishes, had no flavor of their own. Anyone familiar with my reviews knows that I'm not stingy with praise and would rather not give a negative review than disapproval. But this chef is a disgrace to the guild, and any nonna would slap the man who served her such a bad dish! The wine and service were good and prompt! The bruschetta on toasted bread that came first was of a good standard. My wife's pasta Gallipoli was average, but unfortunately, the passion and love in its preparation was lacking here too.

Typically Italian: cramped, a bit loud, but still cozy. The pasta with truffles was amazing, and the bruschetta, a welcome from the kitchen, was really delicious. I'd go back anytime.

The restaurant is definitely recommended; small but perfectly formed, we had a very good meal. The service was excellent. At times, I had the feeling that the chef was a bit arrogant, but that could be misleading (I suspect it was the chef). The service staff was very friendly and attentive.

A must if you're in the area and hungry. Even if you're not very hungry, you're bound to give in. We had tortelloni with lamb, spinach, and all sorts of other ingredients, with an incredible sauce, both flavorful and chewy. Spaghetti with sea bream, zucchini, etc., fresh and paired with a Sicilian wine that was recommended to us. As a prelude, a very good bruschetta, grilled white bread... simply a dream. Duisburg won us over with Enoteca La Trattoria. Thank you so much for the delicious food. And by the way, the decor is traditional, like that of an enoteca.

A true piece of Italy – full of coziness and flavor! The interior is simply wonderful: full of character, but without any frills. 🍷 We tried two wonderful red wines – one from Sardinia, the other from Sicily. Very different, but both intense, warm, and with a deep, full flavor. 🍽 The dishes were fantastic! Everything was cooked with love – like for good friends. ❤️ And a big thank you for the warm welcome. They don't just cook here – they create atmosphere. We can wholeheartedly recommend it! 🇮🇹✨

The atmosphere is quite ok, the food is quite ok, the service is attentive enough but overall I don't get the hype about the restaurant. It's pretty pricey and neither the portions nor the taste are supporting this in my opinion. Maybe it's because Duisburg and the food scene overall are so mediocre that this restaurant manages to stand out.

Super delicious and authentic Italian restaurant. The pasta was perfectly cooked al dente, and the carbonara was made according to the original recipe. It was cooked with high-quality ingredients. At €14.50 for the carbonara, I think the prices are very fair. The servers are attentive and courteous. One of our group was smoking when the espresso arrived. So the server promptly brought the espresso to him outside to smoke. The room is relatively small, and you sit close together. This adds to the Italian flair. Highly recommended!

The service is very attentive and friendly. No request is left unfulfilled, and everything is served quickly. The menu is straightforward, which is a good thing. The focus is on pasta. The dishes are mostly quite simple, but perfectly executed. Soul food and dolce vita at a great level. The prices are very fair.

Make sure you specifically ask for carbonara with guanciale. Otherwise, they'll make it with regular pork belly, even though they do have guanciale. Nonna would be rolling in her grave if she found out 🙈 Other than that, solid Italian restaurant.

I recommend visiting this culinary art workshop to any amateur cook like me who thinks they can prepare Italian food. Come, try it, be amazed with transfigured eyes and realize that you, like me, can still learn a lot. You don't always get such perfectly prepared dishes, even in Italy. The location, which is admittedly somewhat cramped, is excellently looked after by very friendly and knowledgeable staff, who have long since become accustomed to cheerful, enjoyable guests. Extra small main and daily menus with a no-pizza tolerance promise complete concentration on fresh and perfect dishes. The advice and selection of suitable wines for pasta, frutti di mare & Co. is second to none. The pleasantly subtle, rustic furniture and atmosphere can easily cope with different conversation volumes depending on the situation. Guests range from casual to stylish and enjoy the various delights together. The prices quoted are by no means low, but they are very appropriate to the visual, sensory, culinary and social conditions and are therefore 'inexpensive'. I will probably have to make the journey, which is a bit longer for me, more often now, because it is without a doubt worth it.

We recently went to this little Italian restaurant and what can I say? It was simply fantastic! We felt welcome from the start, the team is incredibly friendly and attentive, but never intrusive. The food? A dream. We tried pesto dishes and it was by far the best we've ever tasted - fresh, aromatic and perfectly seasoned. You can immediately tell that everything is cooked here with love and real ingredients. The ambience is cozy and authentically Italian, just the right mix of relaxed atmosphere and southern flair. You almost feel like you're on vacation! If you're looking for real Italian cuisine and a great time, you should definitely try this restaurant. We'll definitely be back! Conclusion: Mega delicious food, authentic and warm – absolutely recommended!

Meine Freundin und ich waren bei einer Veranstaltung im Theater am Marientor und wollten vorher etwas essen. Da wir uns nicht in Duisburg auskannten, gingen wir einfach los Richtung Innenstadt und fanden dieses kleine italienische Restaurant. Die Carbonara war endlich mal ohne Sahne (da wo wir herkommen, gibt’s das wonirgends). Der Salat war frisch und das Hähnchen butterzart. Die Bedienung war herzlich und freundlich und sehr sehr aufmerksam. Die Speisekarte ist klein, aber fein. Große Weinauswahl und italienische Köstlichkeiten kann man dort auch kaufen. Sollte ich noch mal nach Duisburg kommen, werde ich auf jeden Fall wieder hier her kommen.

If you want to have truly great food in Duisburg, this is the place to visit. Here you’ll find authentic Italian food and top-notch atmosphere. The place was completely packed when we visited, so it's recommended to make a reservation. We sat at a long table, shoulder to shoulder with other guests, and there was a lot of chatter and loud laughter throughout the restaurant, but it was actually quite cozy because the vibe was so good. This was largely thanks to the staff, who were everywhere and made us feel very welcome. It was clear that there were many regulars, which is usually the best recommendation. We fully understand why many people keep coming back to this place because the food is outstanding. We had both meat and pasta, and it tasted heavenly. We can hardly imagine there being a better place to eat in Duisburg!

Carpaccio best ever!) immer sehr lecker und man könnte meinen, la Mamma stünde in der Küche. Die Weine sind wunderbar und auch nicht zu teuer. Small authentic Italian directly in Duisburg. We hadn't reserved a table and were allowed to occupy two chairs at one of the two "long" tables. It felt like everyone who hadn't reserved came to these two tables. 😅 You won't find pizza here, but there is a nice selection of pasta and antipasti as well as a daily menu with other fresh dishes. We chose the Spaghetti Aglio Olio and they were really tasty. The service was nice and polite. The shop is recommended.

By far the best Italian I know! I'm Italian myself and when I come into Massimo's I feel like I'm at home. Delicious food, the right wine for every meal and the local atmosphere gives me a real feeling of home. I'm a regular at the boys' place and have NEVER had a bad meal! Wer hätte das in Duisburg erwartet ? Freundliche Begrüßung, leckeres Essen und eine tolle, italienische Atmosphäre ! Wir kommen wieder...... keine Frage. Massimo ist auch einen Umweg wert.

Letztes Jahr, als ich an diesem Restaurant vorbeiging, hörte ich ein lautes Vogelgezwitscher, das meine Aufmerksamkeit erregte. Neugierig entdeckte ich einen gefangenen Vogel im Kellerschacht bzw. unter einer Gitter, der offensichtlich nicht alleine entkommen konnte. Als höflicher Gast wies ich das Personal darauf hin, wurde jedoch nur von allen belächelt. Man schlug sogar vor, den Vogel zu fangen, um ihn zu verspeisen – eine äußerst respektlose Reaktion. Offenbar gibt es ein Problem im Keller, da Tiere ungehindert Zugang haben. Die unhöfliche Reaktion auf meinen Hinweis verstärkte nur meine Bedenken. Nach diesem Vorfall verließ ich das Lokal, enttäuscht von der mangelnden Respektbereitschaft. Andere Passanten schauten besorgt in Richtung des Restaurants, was den Eindruck weiter trübte. Obwohl ich das äußere Ambiente früher mochte, würde ich es jetzt nicht mehr empfehlen. Schade um das einst vielversprechende Lokal.

I was welcomed by a senior waiter soon after I walked in during some busy dinner hour. That released me from the stress of exporting a new restaurant. We ordered the appetizer selection(auswahl), Pasta Vonvole(mussels), and Gnocchi Ripieni for two adults and a 9-yr-old, and we all became very full in the end. The serving is quite generous. Their service is very thoughtful and sincere. As some other customer has commented, “Not fancy, but they provide very good pasta.” I feel that comment also applies to their vibe and their service. Not fancy, but very cozy and satisfying. I have to recommend it to anyone who might be interested.

Hier muss man schon mit wenig Platz, einer ordentlichen Geräuschkulisse, immer mal wieder vom Personal auf italienisch angesprochen bzw. kommentiert zu werden und einer eingeschränkten Getränkeauswahl (nur italienische Getränke; wer hier auf Cola und Fanta hofft, wird enttäuscht) zurecht kommen und seinen Zahlungswunsch auch schonmal deutlich kommunizieren. Aber dafür entschädigt eine herrlich authentisch italienische Erfahrung und gutes italienisches Essen! Wer auf Sahne in seiner Carbonara besteht, sollte vielleicht besser woanders essen gehen, aber ich vermute, dass das auch so gewollt ist ;) Generell empfiehlt es sich, vorher anzurufen und im Zweifelsfall zu reservieren.

Top Geheimtipp ! Ich war schon mehrfach bei Massimo essen, noch nie musste ich ein Gericht 2x bestellen, mit den Tagesgerichten gibt es hier dauerhaft eine riesige Auswahl. Alles was ich bisher bestellt habe war 1A. Habe auch schon mal gefragt ob man den Koch mitnehmen kann, dagegen haben die sich bei Massimo aber gewehrt. ;-) Den Koch wollen sie nicht abgeben. Massimo ist die beste Enoteca die ich kenne.

Das Restaurant ist wirklich toll, sowohl was die Qualität des Essens als auch die Freundlichkeit des Personals - alles ist außergewöhnlich. Der Chef ist ein äußerst herzlicher Mensch. Obwohl wir nicht reserviert hatten, hat er uns wenn auch nur für 1h dann doch drei Plätze geben können. Ok, Flux was von der Tageskarte bestellt, und wenige 20 Minuten später wurde schon serviert, auch wenn das Lokal mittlerweile ziemlich voll wurde. Was soll man sagen , ganz wunderbare Gnochi mit Thunfisch und Gemüse. Selbst gemachte Gnochi, wirklich vom Feinsten. Locker, luftig und schon die allein mit etwas Oliven waren ein Traum. Bedienung mit anderen Gästen an zwei langen Tischen, auch das ist toll, man kommt mit anderen Gästen ins Gespräch, die das Lokal in allen Tönen loben. Zwischendurch imme4 die Nachfrage - aber nicht einfach nur nachgefragt, sondern super nett, gut gelaunt u d herzlich. man hat das Gefühl man gehöre zur Familie. Ach übrigens nach der 1h , meinte Massimo, bleiben Sie einfach sitzen, ich hab’s umorganisiert „..sie könne einfach bleiben…“ Gut dann doch noch den Nachtisch bestellt, auch der war eine Wucht.
