SECRET TIP!!! For the price there is incredibly delicious food. The service was super friendly and you felt welcome. Even for me, as a picky eater, there was so much that I enjoyed. 🤤

We went to Elsa's for the first time yesterday. With the whole family on the occasion of a birthday: parents, two (almost) grown children. The restaurant is manageable, simple and functional. It's cozy, without a lot of fancy. It doesn't need that either. Because the authentic Elsa radiates warmth, is so hospitable and in a good mood, welcomes us very warmly, asks about the well-being of her guests and explains every question about the buffet with dedication and great hospitality. We try carefully from the buffet, initially choosing small portions of each, only to realize that EVERYTHING - really everything - tastes super delicious! A variation of many warm vegetable, meat and lentil dishes, side dishes, home-baked bread and salad. An absolute delight for the palate. Some people obviously know this, because the restaurant is filled with many guests within a short period of time. We'd love to come back. Even if the path is a little further for us. Were there for the first time today. I was impressed by the variety of dishes. Everything homemade, everything seasoned so deliciously. Absolute recommendation!

Very varied evening buffet with a well-stocked selection. The buffet has class rather than quantity of Eritrean vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes at fair prices. The braised chicken thighs and beef in particular are beautifully strong and seasoned; Something like this is rare in Hamburg, along with perfectly seasoned rice and lots of matching vegetable side dishes and salads. Fantastic food, attentive and warm owner. We tried the buffet and every single one of the many different dishes was tasty to very tasty. Also great for vegetarians or vegans, as almost everything is vegan. A clear recommendation!

A truly extraordinary and delicious buffet that invites you to try it. Elsa is the chef, hostess and the soul of the bistro, which reflects her passion in every way. We really enjoyed it, the highlight was the mocha at the end, which, like everything else, was prepared by Elsa according to her personal recipe (with ginger and cardamom). Unfortunately, our fellow guests were so hungry that Elsa could hardly keep up with one or two delicacies and we couldn't try everything - therefore not a full five stars.

Wir waren zu zweit und haben uns abends vorab Plätze online reserviert. Ich selbst war zum ersten Mal bei einem eritreischen Restaurant. Ich war gespannt und hatte keine großen Erwartungen - war schon fast skeptisch. Am Ende bin ich aus dem Restaurant gegangen und muss sagen, dass es einer der besten Restaurantbesuche aller Zeiten für mich war. Wir haben vom Buffet gegessen. Die Gastgeberin ist super herzlich und geht sehr familiär mit einem um. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Das Essen war der Hammer. Alleine die Salate sind jeder für sich schon unglaublich und dabei sind Salate für mich sonst eher eine weniger wichtige Beilage 😁 Alles eine Geschmacksexplosion und unglaublich lecker. Das Essen war so gut, dass ich hier gerade zum ersten Mal überhaupt eine Bewertung schreibe. Die Frau kann kochen! Ein toller Abend für uns. Wir kommen gerne wieder 😊

Super friendly hostess. Elsa is very warm. She also explained the buffet dishes to us. There is a large selection of vegetarian dishes. You can get very authentic Eritrean food here. We arrived very late but Elsa said we could take our time. The ambience was also great. Gladly again at any time. Thank you! :)

It's a small but very nice restaurant. In the evening there is a small buffet with Eritrean specialties, which is also suitable for vegetarians. The food was very tasty and freshly prepared. Elsa is very polite and accommodating. At the end there was a schnapps on the house!

Elsa’s Restaurant offers an authentic Eritrean experience with a fantastic enjera buffet. The selection of meat dishes as well as vegetarian and vegan options is diverse and delicious. Particularly noteworthy is the original Asmara beer, which goes perfectly with the food. At the end there was a traditional Zibib, an aromatic aniseed liqueur. Highly recommended – a restaurant you should definitely visit!

Instantly in love! Everything, really everything, is made with love. It's Elsa's life. You can taste it and feel it as soon as you enter the restaurant. Otherwise she wouldn't be able to achieve this extremely tasteful versatility. A feel-good atmosphere for fine palates.

Super nice, great service, great food, vegetarian or with meat. Down-to-earth and familiar without any fuss. Simply beautiful and above all delicious. We were even specifically advised that eating with our hands is actually only authentic. This place has finessed the dishes they have developed for the buffet. Somewhere to find flavourful delicious spicy food, which is often quite hard to find in general. They know what they’re doing here. Come hungry.

Today I ate here for the first time. I didn't know what to expect from a culinary perspective. The selection is large, from vegetarian to poultry to meat dishes. I was very impressed by the many different tastes and the friendly service. I will eat here more often in the future.

Went here because I was looking for an authentic African restaurant. An ordinary restaurant. Simple design and appearance. But the food (African, Ethiopian cuisine) is delicious and has sufficient variety.

The food was so delicious and just something different. We went on a culinary journey one evening without having to leave the city. The warm atmosphere, the service and the fantastic food - are the sole work of the owner. A real power woman 💪

I was there for the first time today and what can I say, it was the best food I've eaten in recent times. It is a special cuisine, a bit spicy but flavorful and delicious. After I got 5! After I ate my plate, I was even allowed to take some home. It was the first but definitely not the last time there.

Such an amazing place! Absolutely fantastic food. We visited the restaurant for the 4th time today and as always it was very, very tasty. Elsa is so loving and warm and tries wherever she can and conjures up the greatest buffet ever. There is an incredibly large selection of dishes, most of them vegetarian, mega nais, all of which are just great. Thank you for having this great place.

The food was great, the buffet is really recommended. The lady had explained everything beforehand and looked after us well, even though she was alone in the restaurant and served all the guests, made drinks and refilled the buffet. That's why sometimes you had to wait a little longer, but everything was still within limits and super nice. Gladly again!

Ich war am 1.2.24 geschäftlich aus Köln kommend in Hamburg und habe etwas gesucht, wo es ruhig und gemütlich ist. Das habe ich mit diesem Restaurant gefunden. Die Bedienung (vielleicht war es auch die Inhaberin) war äußerst zuvorkommen. Ich hatte schon reichlich gegessen - und war gesättigt; sie bat mich jedoch, ich solle doch noch nehmen. Aber dann solle ich doch wenigstens Nachtisch nehmen. Das Essen war total lecker !! Wenn ich noch einmal dort bin (kann durchaus sein, da ich um die Ecke Schulungen gebe), statte ich diesem Restaurant einen weiteren Besuch ab.

A small restaurant, but unfortunately the ambience is just okay. Normally I would deduct one more star for this, but the food was so brilliant that anything less than 4 stars would be completely inappropriate. Every single dish from the buffet was extremely tasty, not too spicy and the selection of vegetarian dishes was really large. It was really an experience trying out all the new flavors. I will definitely come back!

We really enjoyed our first taste of Eritrean/Ethiopian cuisine and were pleasantly surprised. The mix of braised meat, vegetables and side dishes tastes simply fantastic. And once you understand which sauces you need to use to neutralize some unusual spiciness for our usual palate, you can really try all the “pots”. Elsa is extremely friendly and also told us the story of how her mother made the handmade spicy seasoning she used. This restaurant is really recommended. The price-performance ratio is absolutely reasonable! It's great that there are such culinary specialties in our city!

Unfriendly staff! I called this place only to ask a question about their menu and the staff was just rude and unfriendly. This behaviour does not make your place gain anything. Edit: First of all, you know very well what we talked on the phone and that I did not surely mention about any reduction or such. That makes non-sense and is a sad lie. Secondly, I had asked about the Eritrean Special Plate, but you informed me that the price for 3 is 75 Euros. As I checked the menu now, apparently you understood it wrong and probably thought that I asked about Abendbuffet. Anyhow, this still does not make your rude and reluctant behaviour on the phone right. Would recommend you to be nicer next time to your other clients.

At Elsa's it was really tasty, inexpensive and uncomplicated. Super nice service, large selection of side dishes and the chicken is particularly worth mentioning. Lt. Google is supposed to be open on Mondays, but that's only for reservations, according to a sign on the door. So I was unsuccessful at the first attempt.

One thing with blacks and another with whites. A woman without discipline. The food is unpalatable; It cost me over 50€. never again I even got up and brought the drink myself. You cuffed the whites behind us already. We booked at19:15 and they at 19:3 But they sat down earlier. But everyone knows you are like that.

Durch Zufall entdeckt - total begeistert. So viele Leckere Gerichte! Scharfes, Veganes, aber auch aromatische Fleischgerichte. Und sehr netter Service. Danke für diesen tollen Mittagstisch!

Leider nicht das, was ich aufgrund der Karte erwartet hätte. Falafel und Starter soll man sich als kleine Portion am Buffet holen, Lamm war beim Buffet entgegen der Beschreibung garnicht angeboten. Falafel und Gemüsebällchen schlicht trocken und hart, nicht so der Hit. Klasse war der Kürbis. Erstaunlich gute Weinauswahl, insgesamt fühlt man sich zum Buffet gedrängt, was aber schlicht zu teuer ist, für das was geboten wird. Atmosphäre ist interessant.

Wir - also besser gesagt ich - wollte bei unserem Hamburg-Besuch mal etwas völlig neues ausprobieren. Mein Mann anfangs noch ziemlich skeptisch und auch die Aussage, dass fast alles vegan ist, machte die Sache für ihn nicht besser. Etwas verloren probierten wir uns durchs Buffet - leider fehlte eine Beschriftung und wir hatten bei den meisten Speisen nicht viel Ahnung, was wir da aßen - und waren schon nach kurzer Zeit restlos begeistert. Wir beide essen sehr gern scharf und was soll ich sagen, wir kamen voll auf unsere Kosten. Es gab zwei Fleischgerichte, die ebenso wie der Rest hervorragend waren. Im Restaurant war es sehr sauber und die Bedienung sehr freundlich und kontrollierte ständig das Buffet, alles wurde schnell wieder aufgefüllt. Die Würze war wirklich außergewöhnlich gut. Aber Achtung, wer nicht gern scharf bzw. Gut gewürzt isst, ist hier nicht gut aufgehoben.

Absolut UNMÖGLICH, was hier vorgefallen ist! Ich war gestern mit meiner Familie hier zu Gast. Wir wollten den Abend mit einem schönen Abendessen ausklingen lassen. Dann saß schließlich in unserer Nähe ein Gast, welcher tatsächlich ohne Besteck - also nur mit den Händen - gegessen hatte, was wir und viele andere Gäste als extrem unansehnlich empfanden. Zudem filmte der Gast ungefragt andere Gäste, was für eine zusätzliche Belästigung sorgte. Wir informierten umgehend die Mitarbeiter über diese Situation, aber diese sahen absolut keine Handlungsbedarf, so dass der Gast ungestört sein oben beschriebenes Verhalten fortsetzen konnte. Fazit: Dieses Restaurant werde ich, meine Familie und auch viele andere Gäste nie wieder betreten!

Hallo! Ich war hier gestern mit meiner Freundin zu Gast und wir sind einfach nur maßlos enttäuscht! Wir saßen gegenüber von einem Gast, der ohne Besteck aß, also nur mit den bloßen Händen. Für uns ist sowas ein absolut inakzeptables Verhalten! Zudem filmte er einfach mit seinem Handy andere Gäste und unterließ dies auch nicht, als er darauf angesprochen wurde. Diverse Gäste sprachen auch die Mitarbeiter darauf an, aber keiner reagierte. Daraufhin verließen meine Freundin und ich das Restaurant wieder. Wir können daher die positiven Bewertungen absolut nicht teilen! Nie wieder!
