Ella - Restaurant & Café am Königsplatz in München

A pleasant place where you can serve a coffee on a weekend day, after visiting the museum. However, you should expect to stand in line sometimes during the weekend. I recommend with confidence!

A terrible place. I waited 5-6 minutes just for the menu and was ignored. She never came, so I left. Such service is simply unacceptable.

Very friendly service. We only enjoyed coffee and cake and were very satisfied, also recommended for a break when visiting the exhibition.

The staff is friendly, but seems a bit disorganized. We had the dish of the day (very tough veal boiled beef) as well as an espresso and were served by 4 different employees. Despite our advanced age, we were treated mercilessly. Despite the nice staff and the beautiful location, there was no atmosphere because the restaurant is very restless and there is senseless stress. Too bad! Not recommended after a visit to a museum.

Despite the large crowds, five of us got a seat in this restaurant after a short wait. The waiter was very friendly and the food was excellent.

Great food, very good value for money. You don't notice that you're eating gluten-free. And those affected by celiac disease can be completely relaxed.

I haven't eaten, so I don't know what the food is like. The staff is great, especially a young, handsome, plump but warm and soft gentleman with a cool blond streak. I recommend it from ❤️, the staff creates an atmosphere as if you are at home!

The Ella in the Lenbachhaus is ideal as part of a museum visit as well as for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. A reservation is recommended but not absolutely necessary. The risotto with porcini mushrooms is e.g. B. very good, cake and dessert also recommended. There is a terrace and inside you can also sit very nicely by the large windows. The service is friendly and accommodating.

Very nice atmosphere. You can have a café there and have a nice meal there. To my surprise, there were real meals there. I found the price level to be relatively high, but the falafel was very tasty. We sat very comfortably at the smaller tables and had a great chat even though there was a lot going on. Service was very friendly. But you had to wait a while for your order. I'd love to come back.

The three of us had lunch at lunchtime. The service was friendly and professional. The meal was excellent. And coffee and espresso are almost even better. Unfortunately we couldn't try the dessert because we were completely full from one starter for three and three main courses. We'd love to come back.

A gem among museum restaurants. Quiet, dignified atmosphere inside, sunny terrace outside, plus creative, fine cuisine with reasonable prices. We had duck breast with Jerusalem artichokes and Brussels sprouts and pulled beef croquettes with white kimchi and mayonaise. Both fine. Worth a visit even without a museum visit.

Was here as part of a company party, the cocktails were a bit bland, the food was good, I would have liked to have skipped the turkey sauce, the vegetarian alternatives would have been too simple for me. The waitresses were attentive and friendly, especially the women. Starter and dessert were good. It's a bit expensive because of the proximity to the Lenbachhaus, especially the vegetarian dishes.

We had called 2 weeks in advance for our wedding anniversary on December 12th. reserved in the evening. When we got to the restaurant everything was prepared for a private party and our reservation was neither known nor of interest. What further disappointed me was that it was dismissed succinctly and there was no real apology. Too bad! Goodbye Ella!

We were at Ella's again on a sunny afternoon in autumn. The restaurant was well attended, and there were also a few people sitting on the terrace. The place is just beautiful, the restaurant could do with a little renovation in one place or another. The service was quick and very friendly. The food was also very good and not expensive by Munich standards. We were completely satisfied!

A worthwhile place to gather strength between exhibitions, process impressions and replenish your memories! Gladly again!

Pancakes Delicious hot cakes with enough syrup for two servings and also has jam and fruit. Better with bacon. They don't have lactose-free milk, but a black coffee is the option and better after eating so much sweets. beautiful view

We were there on the last day of the eating class. The menu was very tasty. The selection of individual wines was very good. There was a small increase in each course, and everything was explained very well and technically. Thank you for the nice service, praise for the excellent cuisine. We'll be back soon.

Cozy restaurant/café in the Lembachhaus. In summer you can sit outside, but of course not anymore in November. There are little things to eat, the cake tastes good. A little expensive, but okay. Can also be visited without visiting the museum. The best way to reach Lembachplatz is by subway. Parking spaces are rather difficult to find. I have rarely experienced such a polite and courteous service employee!

Brilliant evening with the dining class menu: divinely imaginative food, the service was outstanding without being annoyingly intrusive. The wines went really well with the courses in a way that you rarely experience. There is plenty of space between the tables and you can have a good conversation. The decor is cool, modern, reserved - very appropriate.

Yesterday the four of us went to Ella and took part in the eating class there. We were completely thrilled, the food was excellent and, thanks to Julia, the service was excellent. Thank you for the great evening

The camp is great, sitting on the terrace is lovely, especially on sunny days. However, the waitresses seemed overwhelmed over the last few visits; we waited a long time for our food and didn't get it together. The taste is mediocre and the price is upscale. So for me it's now a place for a cozy coffee, but nothing more.

We waited almost 30 minutes until someone took pity on us and took our order. Staff listless and demotivated. The foccacia was carelessly prepared and ice cold. Not recommended at all!

To the ESS class at ELLA. Great ambience, great service and outstanding cuisine in terms of quality and presentation. Personally greeted by GF at the table is also a pleasant gesture. Even a meat-free alternative was found quickly and without any problems. Hmmmm very tasty. All in all, happy again.

We went to this cafe yesterday and had a lovely time. The employees are very friendly and personable. The cake and drinks were very tasty. The ambience with a view of Königsplatz is of course the cherry on the cake.

As I often do, I was at Ella, which to this day is one of my absolute favorites in Munich. Unfortunately, my visit was overshadowed by a very unpleasant experience: Due to a Reich citizens demonstration, the restaurant was unfortunately visited today by people who openly displayed right-wing extremist ideas. It was really depressing no matter where you looked. I would have liked a place like Ella to clearly distance itself from such people. Unfortunately, the opportunity was not used to take a clear stance against extremist ideologies. That's why I'll take the opportunity and distance myself from this restaurant in the future. I would have expected more attitude. Not every sale is worthwhile! It's a shame that no attitude was shown! A restaurant for everyone… will perhaps be one of many arguments. Goodbye Ela

Very unfriendly service, food is mediocre

When we arrived we actually started straight away A lady who was with us was a little older and ran forward to look for a place. She apparently ran a little too closely to the window pane after a waitress and shouted at her in an extremely unfriendly and loud tone that she couldn't get through there and that she would run into the pane. Luckily that didn't happen and it was of course very thoughtful that she pointed it out to them. However, it sounded more like our companion hadn't paid for dinner and had been told what she could think of. It has to be said that our companion was so extremely frightened that we were more afraid that she would have a heart attack instead of running into a window at 0.5 km/h. Then I said But that it can also be done in a more friendly way. But the service didn't like that at all. She became loud again and complained loudly about the “youth”. (I'm not even that young so I'll take it as a compliment, thank you very much!) And she said that next time she would let the older lady go to the window. (We're not coming anymore anyway) So her tone totally distracted from the real problem. Afterwards, of course, she had to explain to the other guests (who were completely disturbed because of the volume) what kind of hero she is and that she just didn't do anything wrong. It was also made clear to the other employees that I was supposedly the problem and that she was not aware of any guilt. It's a shame when you think about the fact that she complained about young people, but reacted quite childishly herself. Another gentleman then served us, he was very friendly. The food was mediocre we ordered a cherry cake and a cheesecake. The cherry cake was good the cheesecake was more salty than sweet and was very dry. The still water was warm rather than cool. There were a few difficulties when paying so we didn't get a receipt. However, the waiter couldn't do anything about it, which of course wasn't a problem.

You can sit there as nicely as you like shade or in the sun. I had a cappuccino with oat milk and really loved the taste. A great place to have a relaxed coffee drink!

Nice place on Königsplatz. Has its crazy price. 1 glass of white wine 12 euros. Eat accordingly. For those who want to pay these prices.

The fries were totally over salted and there was a constant loud beeping coming from the direction of the bar, which was really annoying.

Very tasty food, though the chorizo in my soup was barely visible to the naked eye. Service on the slow side. Ridiculously expensive for what it is. I wonder if the museum benefits from the profits?

I was here for dinner today. I had paprika cream soup as a starter and halibut (fish) as a main course. My husband had an entrecôte medium rare (juicy, reddish inside) - really well done. Both tasted great, with a glass of white wine. Finally a cappuccino (Coffee Vergnago - Italia) nice milk foam and strong coffee taste. I also think the view from the café is very nice. Good location. The staff was also very nice. Unfortunately we were so hungry that we didn't take any photos of the main courses... But everything was beautifully presented.

Wonderful area to sit and socialise with friends for its interior aesthetics or nice location within Königsplatz. Good option to have your breakfast with a big variety of the menu. Good quality of the cafe. The service was great too. Our waiter was very friendly and joked with us as well.

A beautiful restaurant next to the Lenbachhaus museum and Königsplatz. The dishes are delicious and beautifully plated. The menu is not inexpensive but the business lunch offers are relatively good value for the quality.

The restaurant can also be accessed from the Lenbachhaus museum. They organize joint dinners and visits to the museum with a curated menu and a guided tour at a controlled price. I enjoyed an aperitif. Staff not too friendly.

Be careful with the mushrooms, although delicious they might upset you; don’t consume with alcohol and don’t eat the whole dish if you haven’t tried it before!

Breakfast is only until 12, no brunch menu, lunch menu is limited. Not all tables were cleaned, the staff enjoyed some casual banter at the bar more than serving customers. Great location but poorly managed. The bathroom and the furniture also could use some renovation.

Absolutely terrific service. Friendliest I have ever received in Munich! The waitress was extremely nice, efficient, and making an effort to interact not just with me but everyone around. All guests were very pleased. Atmosphere is very pleasant, not crowded, and tables have enough separation that you don‘t listen to the people next to you. Coffee is fantastic, and food is good. Portions are a little small, so just keep that in mind.

We spontaneously went to the Lenbachhaus for the public viewing. They made space for 9 people for us, which was great! Even though Roland Kaiser played at Königsplatz at the same time, everything worked out great! The service was super competent and very kind! We have and felt very comfortable. They tried very hard, even if the transmission didn't work completely smoothly, we had a great football evening! It was nice

Expensive but meh. 8€ for 0.75 liters of water is extortionate, you have to say. But the food and ambience make up for it. If I had more money, I would probably come more often. I found the shrimp salad and the zucchini cherry cake particularly interesting in terms of taste. Latte macchiato was one of the best I've had in Munich so far (it was practically not bitter). Chai latte, but as we all know, very sweet. The view of Propylaea is particularly amazing

I used to love this restaurant. No matter whether for lunch, afternoon or evening. The staff are always very friendly, but the prices have been increased a lot. That doesn't make up for this beautiful view. Let's see if I come back.

When the sun is shining, it's a very comfortable terrace seat... The historic Kónigspkatz tower and museum are on both sides, giving you a great view!!! Although it may seem a bit expensive, I think it's good for lunch, tea time, or as a break after touring the museum. It's quicker and more convenient than U2

Bad, overpriced coffee. Paid €20.40 for 3 cappuccinos on ice. Any sweetened ready mix from the refrigerated section. Incomprehensible.

Truffle fries were great. Gnocchi and noodles as you would expect from the Germans. Service was very friendly.

A nice café, but the prices are awesome, a piece of cake 6.30 and a latte 5.80. It tasted good but unfortunately there was a bit of an aftertaste given the price. 25€ too far for 2 kitchens and 2 coffees.

Mini iced coffee for 8.80 euros. It was tasty, but you can tell the price needs to be explained. My explanation: Energy prices and the minimum wage have an impact. Basically ok But I still don't come here anymore because there are too many smokers sitting outside and bothering non-smokers.

We ended up in this café by chance today and were really impressed. The lemonades, muesli and Bircher muesli were sensationally delicious and also wonderfully prepared. Particularly noteworthy is the service, which is not only friendly and accommodating, but also has a joke for every guest. This made us feel completely comfortable, thank you very much!
