Excellent restaurant with fast service. When ordering the currywurst and schnitzel, you were treated to a double portion of meat. The currywurst sauce was delicious. The Caesar salad came with large chunks of chicken.

Good, home-style cooking for meat lovers and anyone who likes hearty food. Not a huge selection, but sufficient :) The ambiance suffers a bit when it gets crowded, as it gets very loud inside. Unfortunately, there are only beer benches outside.

Finding a suitable restaurant for larger groups where everyone can find something delicious on the menu is often a challenge. So it's all the more pleasing that we found it here! We've been there several times – both for lunch and dinner – and have been excellently served each time. The quality of the food, the service, and the ambiance are consistently impressive. The reason for this review is the pea soup I had today: by far the best I've ever tasted! Thank you so much, we'll be back!

We were here this week. We quickly found a nice spot, and after familiarizing ourselves with the system, the beer we requested arrived very quickly via code. Sitting outside in the summer is really pleasant, but I find the inside uncomfortable and won't go there when the outside temperatures are no longer favorable. The service was impeccably friendly and uncomplicated.

It's very nice and quaint. The food is expensive but very tasty. We sat on the terrace in the rain and were well protected by huge umbrellas. The staff didn't let this spoil their friendliness. I'd be happy to come back.

The Eigelstein is a welcome place to meet up for a beer, a lunch break with colleagues or a home-style dinner. The lunch menu is excellent value for money and the cuisine is as expected. Hearty food with fried eggs, fried potatoes, sausage, game, goulash are all recommended. You have to be lucky with salads, fish and tarte flambée. With the atmosphere and a Kölsch you can let your thoughts about Cologne wander.

Very good price/performance ratio

Disappointing and disrespectful – unfortunately, no longer an isolated incident I enjoyed the Eigelstein on Hammerstrasse for a long time, but unfortunately, I can no longer recommend this place. The quality of service has declined significantly in recent months: The portions are getting smaller, the prices are rising, more and more food seems to be pre-cooked – and, even more seriously, the way guests are treated has become disrespectful, especially towards female guests. Today, I finally reached the point: I stood visibly in front of the entrance for a good 12 minutes, ignored by several waiters – despite eye contact and multiple attempts to make myself known. No one stopped or asked if I needed help. I simply wanted to know if I could sit down. And this wasn't the first time something like this had happened. This behavior has unfortunately continued through several recent visits. Despite generous tips, I was repeatedly ignored or treated rudely. This is no way to treat guests. Eigelstein used to be a lively, hospitable place. Today, it seems empty, indifferent, and, unfortunately, arrogant. I'm very sorry to say this—but I won't be coming back.

The atmosphere would have been really pleasant... But: Unfortunately, two boys, about 10 years old, ran continuously for over 30 minutes through the entire dining room, loudly playing with toy airplanes and running back and forth between the tables – and this in a fully occupied restaurant. No intervention from the staff, no reaction from the accompanying adults – absolutely disruptive and inappropriate for a relaxing evening. It's a real shame that something like this is tolerated at the peak of the evening. Great food, but we won't be coming back under these circumstances.

It's perfectly fine for a quick lunch with colleagues, but the service is very impersonal and the atmosphere is loud. The meatball pan wasn't bad for the price either. All in all, not a place for a relaxed dinner.

Great wine bar with a wide variety of wines and delicious snacks for in between meals. If you're really hungry, you can also enjoy the hot food! My absolute recommendation: the spare ribs 😍

The food was good, but the mood changed when we complained about a lack of carbonation in one of our drinks. Instead of swapping, we argued at the bar, and unfortunately, you could see through the window that the waitress and bartender were joking and serving the same drink from the same bottle. A place like this really didn't need that, and it was quite disrespectful... it continued all the way to the bill.

Unfassbar unverschämt – ich komme nie wieder! Ich war am Sonntag (29.06.25) im Eigelstein Düsseldorf mit meiner Familie essen. Die Rechnung lag bei 81 €, ich habe 85 € bezahlt – also 4 € Trinkgeld. Trotzdem kam der Eigentümer persönlich zu mir und sagte in einem extrem bösartigen Ton, ich solle nicht mehr wiederkommen, weil ich zu wenig Trinkgeld gegeben hätte. In so einem Ton, das sogar mein Sohn Angst hatte. Er sagte wörtlich, dass es in seinem Restaurant eine Regel gibt: „Wer zahlt, und isst, muss Trinkgeld geben – sonst soll er nicht mehr kommen.“ Das ist einfach nur frech, respektlos und unverschämt. Er lies mich nicht ausreden. Und als ich ausreden wollte, schrie er mich an ,, sei ruhig. Ich war öfters da und habe jedes Mal 10 bis 15 € Trinkgeld gegeben. Nur heute konnte ich ausnahmsweise nicht mehr geben – und werde dafür derart behandelt? Ich denke Trinkgeld ist freiwillig. Für mich ist klar: Ich werde dieses Restaurant nie wieder betreten. Wer so mit zahlenden Gästen umgeht, sollte keine Kunden mehr haben. Schämen sie sich für ihre Art und Charakter.

Restaurant Eigelstein impresses with simple yet perfectly balanced dishes. The salmon deserves special mention, which was prepared to perfection – crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. The dish was accompanied by mashed potatoes and carrots and spinach – all with simple ingredients, but masterfully executed. You can tell that the cooking here is done with skill and not frills. A fair price-performance ratio for lunch. The restaurant itself is spacious, but the chairs are more functional than comfortable. The staff was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The organization for a larger group was also positive: Reservations were straightforward, and the food was served to all guests almost simultaneously – which is not a given with groups. Overall, a very solid and successful experience. I would gladly return.

I'm in Düsseldorf about two or three times a month for work, and I go to Eigelstein every time to eat their legendary pea soup. It's worth it for that alone. I think I'd even fly there just for that. Simply delicious! The entire menu is delicious, though. The staff is very relaxed and very friendly. All in all, I highly recommend this restaurant!

If you want to feel like a typical Helmut on a break, you absolutely have to visit this place. The schnitzel is delicious, the beer is even better.

decent food but way too expensive, small quantities, some dishes are poorly explained on the menu, service with several errors in the orders, execrable waiter who insists that we pay for drinks that we never ordered, who looks down on us by explaining that we don't know how to order correctly, who insults us on the way out when we refuse to pay him a tip for his more than poorly done work.

The food and cocktails are delicious. I would gladly return if the male server didn't call us "good girl" in such a derogatory way. It's very disrespectful (and cringe).

Everything was amazing. Best Angus burger I’ve had in a very long time. Great sauerkraut and veal schnitzel. Everything was out of this world and believe me I’m extremely picky. Waiter was so helpful and nice, service was unbelievably quick.

I spontaneously decided to visit Eigelstein on a Saturday afternoon for a bite to eat. Without a reservation, I found a seat at a high table with a direct view of the kitchen. I ordered a cheeseburger with a side of French fries. The food was served quickly. The cheeseburger was juicy and the French fries were nice and crispy. The burger was one of the best I've had in a long time. I'll definitely stop by again when I get the chance.

The only brewery in the otherwise rather expensive Media Harbor. Even the simple Mettbrötchen (a traditional German sausage roll) is served beautifully here.

Due to a visit the day before to have a drink, we decided to make a reservation here the next day to have dinner here! Because the food that was served to the other tables appealed to us from the look of it! We weren't disappointed, we ordered the flank steak for 2 people with fries and potato dippers and I have to say it was a great decision! The meat was a dream, the fries and dippers were super tasty and the beer 🍺 was tasty too! The only thing that was a bit annoying was the character of the interior of the restaurant! The more crowded it gets, the louder it gets inside! Luckily we were there early in the evening and it was still bearable! When we left it was already very loud! If you are in Düsseldorf you should consider a visit but reserve in advance via the website! I can recommend the restaurant!

We were there yesterday for a department lunch and I was very satisfied! The food tasted very good. It took a little longer, but everyone got their food at the same time, which I thought was great. So bravo for that! I was very curious about the service because there were the most reviews about it in the reviews, but I can only say the lady was very nice and tried to take good care of our group, which isn't necessarily easy with 14 people and an otherwise full house. There is a tiny star deduction for the ambience. The tables are a bit too narrow and you have to juggle a bit to fit everything. It is also quite loud with a full house and lots of lively conversations 😉 but the restaurant can't help that. I'll definitely come back because the pork schnitzel was delicious 😋
