Yesterday, three of us went to the dark restaurant, and we highly recommend it. It was fun and informative. There were 11 people in total who ate there, which was a great group size. Jan and Ashraff accompanied us throughout the evening and gave us a glimpse into the world of the blind. The two of them (and Bernhard, of course) are very nice people. The meal (2 gourmet dishes with dessert, 1 vegetarian gourmet dish with dessert) was absolutely delicious; kudos! The whole thing lasted about 3 hours. You lose track of time, but the time flew by. It wasn't even boring. We were entertained, could ask questions, and chat with each other. We thank you for the wonderful evening and would recommend you anytime!

I gave my girlfriend two experience vouchers, which we redeemed yesterday. We can't understand some of the exaggerated negative reviews. The atmosphere was great, we had fun, and of course, some of the presentations included some justified criticism of the "system," which was, however, very understandable. It was also honest. We were there for over four hours in total, and the value for money was more than good. Unfortunately, we couldn't stay any longer because we still had a long commute home to Bielefeld. A visit here is worthwhile for the experience alone.

Eating here isn't just a meal. It's an experience. In about three hours, Jan and his team share many interesting facts about being blind. After a brief introduction, we head in a polonaise to the actual dark coffee shop. There, we're served our chosen menu. Beforehand, each participant is asked about any intolerances or other preferences. Because you don't know exactly what they'll be served. Jan became blind in an accident and recounts his experiences from that time with a touch of humor. Achraf was born blind and therefore has a different background, which is no less interesting. All in all, an experience that I can only recommend to everyone. Thank you very much for this. Keep up the good work so that many more people can gain insight into the world of the blind and perhaps also see their surroundings with different eyes.

We had the advantage of being the only four of us in the dark cafe. Jan and his East German-Frisian-Arabic colleague were superb hosts and entertained us well. The food was excellent, and the brief glimpse into the world of the visually impaired has a lasting impact. We laughed a lot, and the three hours were over far too quickly! Thanks again to Jan, Bernhard, and Ashraff.

Last night we went to a dark dinner for the first time with 4 teenagers. For us it was a super exciting experience to immerse ourselves in the world of the blind. You stand in front of your table like an idiot and look for your seat, food and drinks are placed at the front of the table and then you first have to find out which of them is yours. A real challenge, teamwork is required. Shoveling lettuce into your salad bowl in the dark was an initially insurmountable task, but the table ate plenty of it. When it came to pasta and pizza, the first thing you wondered about was what kind of dish you had in front of you. There were many interesting stories from the world of the blind, politically hard-edged yes, but honest. We had an exciting evening, the kids were impressed and got a lot of ideas about disability. We recommend you.

Unique experience! Very moving! Very tasty food

It was a little difficult to find a date for the dark cafe because a minimum number of participants was required. That is also completely understandable. In the end there were 14 of us there, but different groups. First there was an introduction to the topic, then we were asked to turn off all cell phones and, if necessary, remove our watches to ensure absolute darkness. We were then led into the restaurant and we could understand what it felt like to see nothing, absolutely nothing. Then some other things were demonstrated and the first drinks were served. Wine in a carafe with a glass, of course! It had already been some time before the first starters were served. Unfortunately, since we hadn't ordered a starter or dessert and only wanted to eat a main course, the evening dragged on a bit. But of course we could hear how the mood at the neighboring tables was rising. All in all a nice evening but a bit too long. We were there for a total of 4 hours. The food was very good.

It was actually a great idea to experience food differently in total darkness and to learn more about the world of blind people. Unfortunately, it became more of a political event, and at times, its content was absurd. Monologues about conspiracy theories such as forced sterilizations in German homes for the disabled, lying state media, and the inability to discuss things really dampened the mood at times. The food was okay, but nothing special, and very expensive. An interesting experience in total darkness, but I wouldn't visit this "restaurant" again. Sorry.

The idea of ​​the café appealed to us immediately. Unfortunately, the hoped-for better understanding for blind people was pushed into the background during the evening. Some terms uttered, such as 'media propaganda', 'term police' and the N-word in a situation that makes us uncomfortable, have left a very strange taste. The food was good, but it didn't quite meet our expectations of a gourmet meal.

Our visit to the Dunkelcafé in Siegen was an interesting experience – at least on paper. The idea of ​​eating in complete darkness and talking to blind people sounded exciting and offered the opportunity to gain a new perspective on the everyday lives of visually impaired people. Unfortunately, this experience was greatly marred by the company of the blind man named Jan. Instead of creating an open and respectful atmosphere, the evening was dominated by his political monologues. His repeated tirades against “state media”, his conspiracy theory views and his derogatory comments about Germany and its society made us feel more like we were at a political event than in a space for exchange and empathy. Particularly problematic was his repeated use of the term “Negro” – a word that has long been considered racist. His argument that language changes would not contribute to inclusion was not only inappropriate but also presumptuous since he himself is not affected by racism. This was also directly commented on by several people. Instead of a respectful dialogue, we were forced into a one-sided and unpleasant discussion that had little to do with the actual idea of ​​the dark café. Two people in the group even considered leaving the event early as they began to feel increasingly unwell. Such behavior is completely out of place in a café that is supposed to stand for understanding and openness. We would have liked neutral, appreciative support that focused on the reality of blind people's lives - and not on a personal political agenda. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend the Dunkelcafé in Siegen under these circumstances.

It was definitely an experience to eat in the dark. Jan was very nice, unfortunately we found the other employee very impatient and not really friendly, whatever we said to him. The gourmet food was tasty, but for us it was far from gourmet, more like snack food.... the comedy was unfortunately very little, there was a lot of talk about it like crap.... Germany and politics is there is a lot of talking before you get something to drink, an hour goes by in which you sit in the dark and have to listen... and when you eat you are more or less rushed... after it is cleared away and you want to go out, there would be another discussion when you really don't feel like it anymore What some guests also said was that you finally wanted to get out, then you had to wait another 10 minutes and listen... you can definitely do something like that better! And 55 euros per person for a “gourmet” meal is really overpriced! It wasn't worth the money but it was an experience... unfortunately not really recommended

Mediocre food with subterranean comedy. Host talks about his life and constantly complains about the school system, politics and everything that isn't right at 3. Self-portrayal and one's own biography were noticeably noticeable here and the entire "audience" was confused throughout. It wasn't fun and it was expensive, I won't do it again.

Letzten Freitag hatte ich ein für mich sehr bereicherndes und zu 100% weiter zu empfehlendes Erlebnis: erstmalig Dunkelcafe (in Siegen)! Im direkten Anschluss an zwei intensive Fortbildungstage und mit Anreise von 3 Stunden war ich nicht sicher, ob ich überhaupt noch einen Sinneskanal offen hätte. Unfassbar! Die 4 Stunden Programm vergingen wie im Flug und haben mir und meinen anderen Sinneskanäle richtig gut getan! Für mich war es regelrechte Erholung und gab super Einblicke in die Vielfältigkeit unserer Sinne sowie in das allgemein eher Tabu-Thema Inklusion. Kann sehr zum Nachdenken und Handeln anregen: Was ist wirklich wichtig im Leben? Schön, schlank, beliebt, teuer eingekleidet zu sein, immer erfolgreich, ein luxuriöses Leben? Oder ist das eher Nebensache bzw. Verschwendung? Von wertvoller Zeit, meiner Energie, Ressourcen, … ? Klar, vielleicht verbringt man seine Zeit lieber ehrlich zufrieden, glücklich und am besten gesund. Aber was, wenn das Leben eines Menschen dauerhaft von Krankheit oder Behinderung geprägt ist? Hemmung, Vermeidung, Mitleid, Unverständnis, Ignoranz und auch Angst! Angst vor dem, was uns Alle jederzeit selbst treffen kann. Und ziemlich wahrscheinlich im Alter treffen wird! Teilen von: - Zeit - Aufmerksamkeit - Menschlicher Wärme - Gesellschaft - Kultur Für Einander! Das Dunkel Café war ein Besuch absolut wert. Immer würde ich wieder kommen. Das Entertainment war unbeschreiblich. Man hat viel zu lachen und lernt eine Menge über sehbehinderungen. Es wurde offen mit dem Thema umgegangen und man hat sich wohl in der Umgebung gefühlt. Auch das Erlebnis mit den Kopfhörer war wirklich interessant. Nur weiter zu empfehlen. Das Team was dahinter steht hat meinen Respekt. Alles super nett und offen.

Super impressive insight into life in darkness, with lots of information, impressions and background. Packed with a lot of humor, honesty and delicious pizza in a pitch-dark but pleasant atmosphere. Everyone should have this experience!!! I was also thrilled that they were still open for the three of us girls (since it would have been difficult for us to reschedule the date). We were there in March 24 and were initially a bit surprised because we were sitting in an anteroom and thought we were wearing glasses for the darkness experience. But after a short introduction, that wasn't the case and we were led into a completely dark room. We were entertained and fed by two blind people who talked a lot about the life of a blind person over the entire time. (Black) humor was also not neglected. In the restaurant, the price for the entertainment/food and time are absolutely justified, considering that no walk-in customers can just come in during the evening… Political orientation, dark humor, etc. You can definitely say that. Mega Erfahrung und einfach empfelenswert....

Wir sind mit unseren Kindern ( 14 und 18 ) im Dunkelcafé zu einem „ Blind Abendessen „ gewesen. Die Verkostung in völliger Dunkelheit wird hier nicht als Show veranstaltet. Weil das Service Team selbst blind ist, bekommt der Gast die Möglichkeit vor, während und nach dem Essen sehr viel über das Blindsein zu erfahren. Es dürfen alle Fragen gestellt werden, die einen schon immer zum Thema interessiert haben. Die Gastgeber sind sehr nett und räumten mit vielen Vorurteilen und Ammenmärchen rund um die Blindheit auf. Sie scheuen sich auch nicht davor, Blindenwitze zu erzählen. An dem Abend wurde also auch viel gelacht. Wir haben den Raum in dem gegessen wurde nicht gesehen und auch nach dem Essen nicht. Wir mußten uns also komplett auf die Beschreibung und die eigenen Sinneseindrücke verlassen. Das Essen und Trinken in völliger Dunkelheit ( die Speisen wurden aus einem Restaurant nebenan geliefert ) war sehr lecker und am Anfang sehr abenteuerlich. Immer hatten wir Angst gehabt, etwas umzustoßen. Zumal das Geschirr und die Gläser nicht bruchsicher waren. Sich Wein in völliger Dunkelheit aus einer Karaffe in ein Weinglas einzuschenken, ist wirklich nicht ganz ohne 😊 Genauso das Suchen / Tasten der Speisen auf dem Teller. Die Veranstaltung ist absolut empfehlenswert. Man gewinnt einen ganz neue „ Sicht „ auf das Blindsein. Das Ambiente haben wir im Speisesaal nicht sehen können. Es waren aber " gefühlt" 5 Sterne.

Total enttäuschend! Die Einführung bestand aus einem Rundumschlag gegen die Hilfsangebote für Menschen mit Behinderungen in Deutschland. Selbst die eigenen Verbände für Menschen mit Erblindung oder Sehbehinderung bekamen ihr Fett weg. Man hatte den Eindruck, dass die Betreiber "gegen alles" sind. Aber kein Wunder bei der Art der Flyer, die hier auslagen, und den Plakaten, die aushingen. Das Menü entsprach der Qualität der Einführung. Es gab mittelprächtigen Salat und Pizza. Da habe ich mich echt gefragt, wie das Dunkelcafé auf Platz 1 der Siegener Restaurants landen konnte. Qualität der Gesamtveranstaltung: Dilettantisch!

Interessantes Erlebnis. Essen lecker. Betreiber höflich und nett. Die angekündigte Comedy hat uns gefehlt und die politische Ausuferung des Abends fanden wir auch nicht so schön.

Zum Ambiente kann ich nichts sagen, da es ja komplett dunkel war und man wirklich nichts gesehen hat. Das Essen war lecker, wird aber von den umliegenden Restaurants gemacht und später serviert. Während der Veranstaltung hört man unterschiedliche, interessante und zum Teil auch witzige Geschichten aus dem Leben der Blinden. Sie sorgen für eine neue Perspektive auf Inklusion und den Umgang mit Menschen mit Behinderungen. Teilweise hinterfragt man ganze Systeme und Gesellschaften. Der Abend verlief angenehm und wir würden jedem empfehlen, mindestens einmal dort essen zu gehen.

Mega Erfahrung, jedem zu empfehlen der mit sehr viel Witz etwas über das leben von Blinden erfahren möchte und sich beim essen nicht auf seine Augen verlassen möchte.

Meine Cousine und ich waren gestern im Dunkelcafé. Es war ein grandios toller Abend mit so vielen Eindrücken. Absolut lustig, beeindruckend, interessant, zum hinterfragen und nachdenken der (eigenen) Werte mit einem Klasse Programm und noch dazu sehr leckeren Speisen und Getränken! Der Abend hat sich sehr gelohnt. Ein Besuch kann ich nur wärmstens empfehlen. Raus aus dem Alltag, rein in eine andere Welt. Wir waren eine kleine Gruppe von insgesamt 6 Menschen und haben uns spontan zusammen gesetzt. Es war so lustig! Ich komme auf jedenfall ein 3. Mal wieder. Der Abend im Dunkelrestaurant war definitiv ein Highlight- trotz Dunkelheit. Die Kellner/Mitarbeiter/Entertainer Jan und Ashraf zeigen auf sehr humorvolle Art und Weise die Herausforderungen des Alltags eines Blinden. Aufgrund der kleinen Gruppen ist es möglich, individuell Fragen zu stellen und viel mitzunehmen. Der Abend macht nachdenklich (was es alles für Hindernisse gibt und was eigentlich alles sehr leicht zu ändern wäre), aber nicht auf sentimental-traurige Art - im Gegenteil eher positiv witzig. Das Essen (Deluxe Dinner) war sehr lecker und aufgrund der besonderen Situation natürlich sehr spannend und geschmacklich intensiver. Definitiv empfehlenswert!!!

Tatsächlich hatte ich es mir ziemlich unangenehm vorgestellt mit vielen Fremden in einem dunklen Raum zu sein. Aber wir saßen in einer Nische und es war eigentlich ganz entspannt und wir haben uns auch auf dem Tisch gut zurecht gefunden! Die Vorspeise war ein Salat und schmeckte gut. Das Hauptgericht roch so lecker, da fiel es einem nicht schwer zu probieren. Rind mit Rosmarin-Kartoffeln und Gemüse dazu Soße - also nichts exotisches. War auf jeden Fall interessant und unterhaltsam. Vielen Dank dem ganzen Team für den freundlichen Service!

Essen war OK...aber kein Gourmet wie angepriesen. Wir hatten alle was anderes, erfragen konnten wir es nicht. Bedienung war sehr gereizt und aggressiv... einmal reicht!

Durch die offene Art der Gastgeber bekommt man viele Einblicke in den Alltag mit Sehbehinderung und wird für ein paar Stunden aus der eigenen Komfortzone geholt. Das gesamte Konzept und die Aufklärungsarbeit, die das Team hier leistet, finde ich wirklich großartig.

Sehr coole neue Erfahrung. Das Programm war sehr informativ und lustig, das Essen war auch in Ordnung. Der Abend regt einem zum Nachdenken an und nimmt Berührungsängste in Bezug auf Sehbehinderungen. Das Personal ist auch sehr nett und offen gegenüber Fragen.

Ein unvergesslicher Abend! Gestern waren mein Partner und ich das erste Mal im Dunkel-Café. Unsere Nervosität wurde uns ganz schnell von Jan genommen. Jan hat den Abend sehr humorvoll gestaltet. Die Dunkelheit war zu Anfang schon recht bedrückend, nach kurzer Zeit gewöhnt man sich aber dran. Kommunikation ist hier ganz wichtig, es entstehen nette Gespräche mit dem Personal oder auch mit den fremden Tischnachbarn. Das Essen war sehr lecker. Viel Spaß beim Finden, es kann auch mal was daneben gehen. Ashraff hat auch zur positiven Stimmung an dem Abend beigetragen! Seine humorvolle Art hat uns beeindruckt. Jan und Ashraff haben uns die Welt eines Blinden sehr nah gebracht, mich hat der Abend nachdenklich gestimmt aber nicht negativ. Danke für die tollen Eindrücke! Ich kann das Dunkel-Café nur empfehlen!

Wir waren gestern zu zweit im Dunkelcafe. Wir waren sehr gespannt und wussten zuvor gar nicht genau, was uns erwartet. Jans Einführung war super locker und sehr unterhaltsam. Im Dunkelraum war es wirklich sehr sehr dunkel, man sieht wirklich GAR NICHTS! Die Unterhaltung von Jan und Ashraff war wirklich sehr informativ, super witzig und unterhaltsam. Und das Essen und Trinken ist auch eine ganz neue Erfahrung so ganz im Stockdunkeln. Wirklich empfehlenswert! 5 Sterne!!!

Es war ein unvergessliches Erlebnis. Sollte man unbedingt mal machen. Ein sehr interessanter Einblick. 😉

Super entspannte Atmosphäre und ein unvergessliches Erlebnis in einem komplett dunklen Raum. Das Essen war super lecker und die Herrschaften, die uns durch den Abend begleitet haben, waren super. Ist ganz klar weiterzuempfehlen!

Völlig überbewertet auf Trip Advisor Schade finde ich, dass dieses Restaurant hier total überbewertet wird. Wie die 3 Punkte Vergeber kann ich mich denen anschliessen. Extrem teuer!!!

Es war ein toller, interessanter und auch zum Nachdenken anregender Abend. Wir sind extra 1,5 Stunden angereist und haben es nicht bereut. Man gewöhnt sich sehr schnell an die Dunkelheit und es funktioniert erstaunlich gut, sich am Tisch zurechtzufinden und zu essen. Die Gäste an dem Abend waren auch eine lustige Truppe und man konnte sich aussuchen, ob man alleine oder mit allen am großen Gruppentisch sitzen möchte. Wir kommen bestimmt nochmal wieder

Es war ein Weihnachtsgeschenk für meinen Freund. Wir waren beide sehr begeistert, die Stimmung war locker und freundlich man hat quasi mit jedem Tisch interagiert und in diesem Dunkelnraum hat man sich überhaupt nicht unwohl gefühlt, weil wirklich in unserem Fall alle sehr freundlich und offen waren. Der Gastgeber hat sich auch mit jedem Gast persönlich unterhalten und sich bei uns zum Beispiel auch an den Tisch gesetzt.. Sher freundlich und herzlich wir haben uns gefühlt als wären wir bei Freunden und hatten ein wunderschönes Erlebnis das die Sinne geschärft hat.

Zunächst gab es eine kurze Einführung. Dann ging es weiter in einen stockdunklen Raum. Dort erfuhren wir bei einem leckeren Frühstück viel Wissenswertes rund um das Thema Blindheit. Zwei Blinde - ein von Geburt an Blinder und ein durch einen schweren Unfall blind Gewordener schilderten ihre Erfahrungen. Sehr interessant. Das Dunkelrestaurant ist sehr zu empfehlen. Gerne kommen wir wieder.

Wir haben uns zu zweit für ein Abendessen angemeldet. Es war für uns beide der erste Besuch in einem Dunkelrestaurant und wir wussten somit kaum was wir zu erwarten hatten - und wurden definitiv im positiven Sinne überrascht. Unsere Pizza, welche wir sehr genossen haben, war eher Nebensache. Richtig begeistert waren wir durch die verschiedenen Gespräche, die sich im Dunkeln ermöglichsten - mit den Mitarbeitern, dem Nebentisch oder auch privat zu zweit. Das Rahmenprogramm ist intelligent gestalltet und dient als Anlass seine Wahrnehmungen zu hinterfragen. Großartig!

Vollkommen überbewertete Küche auf Trip Advisor. Essen kommt von der Nachbar-Pizzeria. Gourmet-Menue überteuert und nicht gut. Der Ansatz für das Restaurant ist gut, die Stimmung war katastrophal, da sich der Moderator nicht im Griff hatte und seine Kollegen teilweise übelst beschimpfte. Bitte nicht weiter so.

Mein Freund schenkte mir einen Besuch im Dunkelcafé zum Geburtstag und nach unserem Dinner in the Dark oder Wort wörtlich Blind Date letztes Wochenende kann ich mit voller Überzeugung sagen: AUF JEDEN FALL WIEDER! Die Atmosphäre war super, das Essen absolut Top und neben dem Comedy Programm hat man auch noch was dazu gelernt. Wir können einen Besuch auf jeden Fall Jedem nur empfehlen! :D
