DÜNENMEER RESTAURANT in Dierhagen

After a hike, we were looking forward to a break on the terrace of the Strandhotel Dünenmeer. The sun is shining, it's pleasantly warm for September. Vacation, just enjoy... The terrace is busy, there are no service staff in sight, and some tables have dirty dishes. We're not used to it. After a long wait (I asked the people at the table next to me if it was self-service?), my husband went to the bar and ordered two coffees and two glasses of champagne. We also waited for our drinks. Other guests arrived after us, who also had trouble ordering. The icing on the cake: no service on the terrace, and my husband also has to run and wait for the bill. Having to pay €56 for these four drinks makes me furious. According to the website, we're talking about a 5-star superior hotel, so I have certain expectations that were far from met on this visit. What a shame! It was our last time!

It's unbelievable and discriminatory. No children are allowed. So sad :(

For five stars, I expect more than just prices that are comparable. No luggage service and no introduction to the premises. Dirty dishes on several occasions. The terrace was very dirty and untidy. The rainy weather was given as the reason. That doesn't make sense to me in the covered area. The service in the restaurant is completely awful. If you don't ask, you don't get anything, and then you get it more annoyed than courteous. There's a lot of room for improvement here.

We were turned away. Adults only. We just wanted lunch.

In the end, we had a wonderful summer evening with a great atmosphere and excellent food. An unreserved recommendation for such customer-focused service!

I can only report on the bar on the outside terrace. Simply wonderful. Quiet, cozy, great service. Perfect. Addendum: Today, two months after my last visit, unfortunately, that didn't work out. Perhaps due to the holiday season, the trainee preferred not to be seen on the terrace, which led to long waits and dissatisfied guests. Maybe next time. A bad day is a day off.

A very beautiful, stylish hotel. A very peaceful atmosphere and a sensational location. The view of the Baltic Sea was simply stunning. The menu was delicious and beautifully presented.

Would have liked to enjoy the food and ambience, unfortunately families with children are not welcome. Kind of discriminatory!!! Too bad

Anything less than 4 stars is a lie or you are a star chef yourself. Not cheap but great quality... so cheap. If you want food and drinks for €20, you have to go to a pizzeria. Food was very good

The dinner was excellent, impeccable. Breakfast was very good, the icing on the cake would be a few more local specialties. The service is still learning, in a positive sense: the service was very courteous and attentive, just needs to fine-tune its expertise.

Beautiful place in the dunes to relax. After a walk on the beach, have a cocktail in the dunes in summer or a mulled wine indoors in winter. Then into the beautiful wellness area.

I cannot understand the criticism of this restaurant expressed here. We had dinner here twice and both times it was excellent. It starts with the very attentive service. The location and atmosphere are hard to beat: you have a view of the Baltic Sea - in the evening with sunset - and the dune, but you sit protected on the terrace, when it gets colder the heaters are turned on. The cuisine is of a very high standard. All the dishes we had were more or less perfect, not star level, but not far from it either. 54 euros for the three-course + amuse gueule and dessert can be described as extremely cheap - I don't know where you can eat so well at this price. And the portions are by no means small. The wine list is also very good.

Very good food and excellent service. The location, directly behind the Dünen, with a view of the Baltic Sea, makes the restaurant a unique location.

es tut mir ausserordentlich leid, aber dass war mal nichts. Lange Wartezeit um überhaupt zum Tisch geleitet zu werden, warten auf Getränke und Speisen und dafür viel zu hochpreisig.

Absolut klasse Lage, toller Ausblick aufs Meer, Preise für die Qualität zu teuer. Seezunge für 98 Euro für 2 Personen nicht saftig, Gemüse dazu einzeln im Ofen gebacken und nett auf dem Teller dekoriert aber trocken !

Das Restaurant im Hotel passt so nicht ins Bild. Das Hotel und dessen Betrieb ist makellos, das Restaurant lässt zu wünschen übrig. Ich habe keine Vorstellung davon, was der oder die Köche mit der Speisekarte und den Portionen erreichen wollen, das Ziel der Zufriedenheit der Gäste wird definitiv verfehlt. Das Essen ist geschmacklich herausragend, die Portionsgrößen sind lächerlich. Ich würde gerne sogar noch mehr bezahlen, wenn ich davon satt werden könnte. Die Bedienung versucht Dir alles mögliche aufzuschwätzen, um deren Provision hoch zu halten. Sobald die Bedienung merkt, dass bei dem Gast nicht großartig zu holen ist (also die Flasche Wein für 50 und mehr €), verfällt das Interesse und man wird sitzen gelassen. Ein Benehmen wie eine Drückerkolonne und auch reichlich arrogant.

Das Essen zum Valentinstag in der Kaminstube haben wir sehr genossen. Der Service war sehr zuvorkommend, besonders freundlich, aufmerksam und zügig. Die Qualität des Essens war ausgezeichnet und die Weinauswahl riesig. Die Preise sind sehr gehoben, was sicher dem 5-Sterne-Hotel geschuldet ist. Das Gesamtkonzept passt aber aus unserer Sicht.

Essen und Service sehr gut. Nur das die Tische recht dicht zusammen stehen bekommt man alles vom Nebentisch mit und umgekehrt auch.

They completely overcooked the fondant au chocolat… however they very quickly replaced it with a better cooked one. The tartar was nice but a little over the top with the garnish which hid some of the wonderful flavour. The atmosphere and setting were beautiful and the staff kind and helpful.

Ein Mittagessen an der Ostsee im Januar ist ja schon nicht so einfach zu finden, besonders, wenn es auch noch gut sein soll. Umso erfreuter waren wir, mit OpenTable hier fündig geworden zu sein. Ein link (via OpenTable) auf die Speisekarte hat beim Reservieren schon Appetit gemacht. Umso enttäuschter waren wir, als wir tatsächlich da waren und es mittags nur eine EXTREM eingeschränkte Karte gab. Die Qualität des Essens war zwar gut, aber wir hatten uns auf ganz anderes gefreut. OpenTable sollte bei Reservierungen zum Lunch auch auf die Lunchkarte verlinken. So haben wir uns doch arg verarsch*** gefühlt. Wahrscheinlich wären wir auch gar nicht gekommen. Schade.

War wirklich tolles Essen und guter Wein. Einzig der Abstand zum Nebentisch war so minimal, eine Spur zu persönlich. Wir wollen wirklich nicht hören, was fremde Menschen so für Probleme haben.

Das Essen war ein kulinarischer Genuss und sehr zu empfehlen.

Eleganter, stylischer Ort zum Entspannen und Essen mit Blick aufs Meer, frischer Fisch oder edles Fleisch an leckeren Gemüse Kreationen genießen, gute Weinberatung und sehr aufmerksame Bedienung. Ein ganz besonderer Ort.

Um 17:08 Uhr räumte der Service die Kuchentheke leer, mit der Begründung, dass man sich auf das um 18:00 Uhr beginnende Abendessen vorbereiten müsse. Sehr schade, sehr provinziell.

Wir hatten uns auf das Prädikat "kinderfreundlich" bei Google verlassen, mussten vor Ort jedoch feststellen, dass wir abgewiesen wurden: Für Familien mit Kindern unter 16 Jahren keine Bedienung. Die ungewöhnliche Preisgestaltung verwunderte zunächst, klärte sich aber nach kurzer Zeit auf und ist wohl nicht (oder zumindest nicht nur) durch die Speisen und Getränke begründet. Der Empfang war höflich, höchst diskret und sichtbar bemüht zu umschreiben wieso und weshalb man uns nicht bedienen könne ohne die Katze aus dem Sack zu lassen. Was der Herr vor Ort uns sehr diplomatisch und durch die Blume zu verstehen gab war zweierlei: Einerseits wolle man den Gästen des Hauses den Anblick von Personen, welche die durchgehend gut betuchte Kundschaft als "störend" empfinden könnte, ersparen. Der unausgesprochene zweite Hinweis hinter den Worten man sei ein "diskretes Haus", darf wohl so interpretiert werden, dass wenigstens einige der betuchten Gäste den Besuch (nicht nur aber auch) dazu nutzen würden "engen persönlichen Kontakt" anzubahnen. In dieser Gemengelage waren wir für den Hinweis auf ein für junge Familien geeigneteres Lokal in der Nähe dankbar. Dieses Haus ist offenbar tatsächlich für Familien ungeeignet.
