Ambiance was good, we can't rate it more positively. Staff was terrible and food was tasteless. I advise against this restaurant. Prices don't even begin to match the quality. DO NOT VISIT!

Our expectations were very high because we waited 2 days for a table. Unfortunately, on Sunday evening at 6 p.m. we were seated at a large table with two strangers. Although some tables were empty. We had to sit in a dark corner. The person who made the reservation for us on Saturday evening and the waitress who welcomed us on Sunday and brought us to the table were anything but friendly, as we know from Asian culture. The food was served very quickly but was anything but tasty and we noticed the warm water glass very negatively. We read about your restaurant beforehand and are really shocked that it should be one of the top 5 in Hamburg.

We had made a reservation for 8.30 and were allocated our table quite quickly. Then we had to wait a little longer until we could order. When we finally ordered it took 20 minutes and a few moments until we had our drinks. The food wasn't much different, our neighboring table came later and was already having two beers when we got our drinks and the main course while we were still waiting for the starter. When the food arrived we were able to enjoy it, but the service left a lot to be desired.

My last visit here was two years ago. I noticed that the prices have gone up significantly and I think the portions are smaller. The service was OK, but could have been better for a high-priced Chinese restaurant.

Very nice restaurant, relaxed atmosphere and great service. Very good knowledge of the dishes and therefore a trustworthy source for recommendations. The Peking duck was fantastic, the best duck I've ever eaten so far. We were surprised with the dessert and it was a very good decision. There was a small selection, one better than the other. Thank you for the lovely evening. I can recommend the cocktail in the bunny cup ☺️

Made a reservation, arrived 5 minutes late, the reservation was canceled and you had to sit at a large round table with 8 strangers. If a table reservation is always for 2 hours, you cannot give the table to someone else if you are 5 minutes late.

We had made a reservation and after we were brought to the table, no one came to take our orders. After waiting for 25 minutes, we spoke to a waitress. We were really looking forward to the evening, but we were disappointed with the food. Normal standard Chinese with high prices. Price performance doesn't fit. The service staff seemed stressed and were not particularly friendly. We won't be coming back again.

The three of us ate there in the evening and were very disappointed! It took a long time until we received the menus, and then we had to wait a long time before we could place our order. After an eternity we got our drinks: Spezi which was warm, apple spritzer which was barely cooler and a tea which was hot (oh wonder). Then all three of the soups also came lukewarm. The various dim sums we ordered looked like they had been kept warm for longer. Unfortunately, we didn't have the opportunity to tell the service anything because they barely understood us. CONCLUSION: Mega disappointing with a bill of €198 for three people

For me it's still the best dim sum house in Hamburg. I love these delicious dim sums. Of course everything is a bit more expensive there, but you get the best dim sums in Hamburg. We've already tried a few restaurants, but this is it by far the best... And the grumbling of some people here is annoying... Then just don't go there at peak times, then you'll get good service. The people there work under constant stress and that's unfortunately due to the owners !!!!! We go there regularly (once a month) and have never had any problems, neither with the food nor with the staff.

Very tasty Chinese food. Duck was great. Iberico Schweisn was also great. When we are back in Hamburg we will eat there again.

Unfortunately, the most disappointing restaurant visit in a very long time! We were really looking forward to the famous duck, which we ordered after the first 20 minutes of waiting, along with starters. Another 25 minutes later the bottle of water we ordered arrived, so that after 45 minutes we at least had something to drink. Then the starters came one after the other at intervals of about 30 minutes. After more than two hours in the restaurant we had enough and paid and left, unfortunately without ever seeing the duck. Luckily for our neighboring tables, who ordered much later, they got their duck earlier. It's a shame to leave a restaurant hungry. Never again for us.

Wonderful and authentic Chinese food! Reservations are mandatory - otherwise it will be difficult. Were here for the second time now. This restaurant is a must the next time you are in Hamburg! The photos show a small selection of dishes from two visits.

The much-hyped DimSum house doesn't live up to the hype. Ambiance is very simple and the tables for two are very close together. The staff is not Nordic cool, but very monosyllabic, urgent and only with squat smiles. Price-performance ratio is not right. Canton duck for 34 euros only with a side of rice. This is available in many other Chinese restaurants from 18 euros including side dishes (rice + vegetables). The duck was on the bone, which is fine, but very fatty and with cartilage, so it easily had 1/3 of it inedible.

The restaurant was full and the air was bad. The service had to be reminded several times. The rice was overcooked.

The food was good but the service was extremely unfriendly. We showed up on time for our reservation and were told to order immediately after a quick look at the menu. A short welcome conversation with my companion was not possible. I was aware that the reservation was for a 2-hour stay, but after just 1.5 hours we were rudely informed that new guests were coming soon. When I said we still had half an hour, the waiter left angrily without comment. Absolutely unacceptable. There are other good Chinese restaurants in Hamburg with more hospitality and style.

Magnificent food, everything very good. The entrance to the premises (waiting on the stairs, with the danger that entails), and the slowness of the service are the aspects that could be improved.

The store really wasn't full and I left after being completely ignored for 30 minutes. The service staff were busy with some disputes and washing up. There was also something wrong with the heating, the air was cutting and it felt like it was 40 degrees. It's a shame, I was really looking forward to the Peking duck.

Our reserved table was still occupied 20 minutes after the reserved time, even though it was explicitly stated in the reservation that a table would only be held for a maximum of two hours. I haven't eaten so badly in a long time. A can of ravioli would have tasted better. The duck was totally dry. The jelly-like sauce is almost tasteless with three raw pieces of pepper. Even the rice was completely overcooked and unsalted. (How do you do this with a rice cooker?) My glass was so scratched and milky that it was difficult to identify the contents. Every punk shared apartment has better glasses. And that was just my dish. My friend's dish was greasy, completely overcooked pasta with an indefinable sauce. (This was a recommendation from the house) On top of that, a starter soup was forgotten and then arrived almost 20 minutes late. Food was pretty good, the portion (esp. for the Dim Sum) couldve been mentioned. The Service was super slow, eventhough the resteraunt wasnt packed. we waited to be asked for drinks for arround 20 mins and then additional 20 mins to get said drinks. That was the motto of the evening. Waiting for the receipt after we waited to pay and so on. It realy took away from how good the food was.

That was the last time. We came without a reservation and were seated at a mini table in the aisle. There were other places available that were in a better location. The portion of pointed cabbage for 18 € too small. Overall it works Shop "dingy". We didn't feel well. There are better Chinese restaurants.

The Guangzhou roast duck is good, it would be better if it was fatter or had duck legs; the rice rolls are delicious; the Mala Cake is very fragrant, but the quantity is quite small, and the price of 10 euros is not cheap; the Mapo Tofu is delicious, but it is not as good as the Sichuan Mapo Tofu It doesn't matter, it's not spicy or spicy, there's no Sichuan peppercorns at all, and there's no minced sesame seeds, but it's a bit like fish-flavored style; the two of them ate for over 100, of course they didn't finish it all, so the average per person was probably around 40 euros

The food was lukewarm, the service was unfortunately unfriendly, and the portions were rather small. There were three of us there, but the dishes arrived 10 minutes apart - the first one was already finished when the last one was served his meal. That was overall disappointing.

The main course took a very long time, and the fourth one came about 15 minutes after the others. There isn't even a Campari and the wine selection is underground!!! And in the end there was about €100 too much on the bill... After 60 years, that should actually work better!

Based on "the lion's den" and other advertising, we ordered a table. It should be Peking duck, the original. Pure disappointment. A duck, pancakes, sauce and vegetables. That's it. The whole thing in cold!! Just like the rest of the store. Problem with the heating. We have eaten Peking duck several times. But that was far from that. 78€ for 2 people. Actually, such a dish is celebrated...but here it is simply served. Not recommended We had bihun soup to warm up. It was great. There are certainly better offers on the menu. The highly praised duck...better not!!!

Due to the advertising of “Höhle der Löwen” and other recommendations, we reserved a table. The restaurant was very cold. Other guests complained with us. We order the legendary Peking duck. This arrived within 10 minutes, drinks weren't there yet. The helpful answer came from the service: "It's quick here, we sell hundreds a day!" Result.. Cold duck, pancakes and a few vegetables. We have enjoyed Peking duck many times. These were celebrated!!! Serving is served in the Dim Sum House. Conclusion. 78€ for cold and slapped duck is not worth it. I can't recommend this. It's better to look for a restaurant that celebrates this delicious duck lukewarm when ordered in advance and with real passion. There's probably another LION involved in the sales. Very unfortunate...

The best thing we have eaten so far! We would do it again and again.

The king prawns 260 were good and tasty. Fried Ho-Fan flat rice noodles 625 neither fried and quite bland. We have on November 17th. without a reservation - we got a table from a friendly young man at 5:30 p.m. after a 20-minute wait, which was fine. But the fact that when you have just eaten a lady who points out the queue and asks you to pay and leave is neither Hanseatic nor excusable. The citizens of Hamburg don't like that.

You most likely visit the Dim Sum House, as we did, because of the famous Peking duck. Both the Peking duck and its sauce were really excellent. Crispy skin and very tender meat. It is served with thin flatbreads, cucumber and leek. But you can easily eat half a Peking duck alone. Based on a recommendation, we tried a few dim sums (“Ham-Shui-Gok” and “Siu Mai”), which didn’t suit my taste. The fried noodles with chicken were very good, but at 18 euros they were expensive and one would have expected more. The ambience is very nice, the service is quick but quite cool. However, we would come back again just for the Peking duck.

Very good Chinese food, but as it is also a very popular restaurant, the staff are understandably a bit overworked at certain times. Nevertheless, we always enjoy going there.

The dim sum and starters were really delicious. Unfortunately, the main courses didn't impress us. The duck was very dry and fried rice with chicken and vegetables for 18€, which is not good value for money. Our waitress was very nice, but guests at the next table left because of the unfriendliness of a waiter. Overall I thought it was too expensive for the food we got. I wouldn't go there again.

Unfortunately it was very disappointing to have the menu for 2 people with the Peking duck. Price/performance ratio is not right here at all. What bothered us most was the instruction to clean our hands with a cleaning cloth before the main course; this was the worst mistake. Everything just tasted like the scent of lemon from that cloth. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

We were very excited and looking forward to a beautiful Peking duck. Starter and duck were really great and would be a good reason to come back. Unfortunately, the ambience is a reason for us to choose ToGo in the future... not a pleasant atmosphere, the office grid ceiling was laboriously concealed with lanterns and we were seated at a table for two in the hallway... Unfortunately, no place to linger for 5 minutes longer than the duck requires. The service was very nice, but there is a noticeably tough regime when it comes to the occupancy of the tables... no honest host quality... A round table was occupied by 3 women, because a 4th guest obviously didn't show up, the women had to do it again move. If they had tried that with us, we would have left immediately...

Yesterday we visited the DimSum restaurant, which is known as the oldest Chinese restaurant in Hamburg. Unfortunately, the visit did not meet my expectations based on the history and reputation of the house. First of all, it should be noted that the price-performance ratio is unacceptable. For the prices charged, I would have expected a high quality menu and corresponding taste. Contrary to these expectations, dishes were served that, in terms of their preparation and taste, fell well short of what one would expect for the price quoted. The chicken dish in particular was disappointing in terms of taste and left a rather neutral impression. I would also like to point out that the fried rice noodles we ordered were not served. This resulted in further disappointment as we were hoping for a special culinary experience from this dish. The lack of communication from the staff about this missing dish was also notable and did not contribute to a pleasant atmosphere. In summary, the visit to DimSum did not meet the expectations I had based on the reputation of the establishment. The inadequate quality of the food, combined with unsatisfactory service, resulted in an overall unsatisfactory experience. I hope that this feedback will help improve the quality of the offering in the future.

Although the food is good and the service is very friendly, I can only give it two stars overall. The reason for this is that the table can only be reserved for 2 hours. People also meet for dinner to chat in peace. After dinner there is no time for dessert or coffee, just in time to pay. The table actually has to be cleared after two hours. Rushing around while eating is uncomfortable and definitely not healthy. Eating should not only be a pleasure, but also a ceremony, especially in an Asian restaurant. Very unfortunate. My food was great, my companion didn't get the food she ordered. That doesn't work at all. We pointed out this mistake to the waiter, who replied: “This happens often with us, I can’t do anything about it.”

Completely thrilled. The Peking duck was an absolute delight. I also enjoyed dough rolls with Iberico filling. Absolutely excellent.

Oh, the famous dim sum house in Hamburg - where for the price of a small vegetable bowl you almost expect it to be served gilded. Instead, for a whopping 20 euros, there was a portion of vegetables that, even with a lot of imagination, hardly fills you up. The “traditional” lukewarm chicken? Dry as a desert wind. The Guangzhou rolls were so generously filled that you almost had to look for the filling, while the dough resembled floury mush. But hey, the restaurant has a big name! Unfortunately, that's where the special ends. On Kantstrasse in Berlin, where the competition provides excellent food at fair prices, the establishment would probably not survive a month at €20 for 4 dim sums. Luckily, Hamburg is well visited by tourists - so there is still hope for guests who either see the restaurant's past glorified or have simply never been to a really good dim sum restaurant. I don't want to rate the ambience here, you just find it every corner in Germany and for me it plays a minor role in traditional Chinese cuisine if you are outside the big centers like Beijing, Guangzhou or Shanghai.

As always, everything is more than perfect! In my opinion, by far the best Chinese restaurant in Germany.

I've been to this store twice so far and can only recommend it to everyone. The quality of the food here is absolutely top notch. I can particularly recommend the Peking duck menu for 2. Even if the price seems high at first glance, the quantity and quality of the menu is worth every cent! The house wine is also recommended. If you are looking for authentic Chinese cuisine with the best quality, this is definitely the right place for you.

On November 1st, 2024 at 4 p.m. in the restaurant: Although there wasn't much going on at that time, I had to wait what felt like an eternity for my order to be taken. When no one came by, I gave a waitress a hand signal. But she just replied harshly that I should just wait. Even the table next to me commented on my lack of understanding. They were surprised that they were served before me even though they came to the restaurant later. Other guests who got a table after me were also served before me. Even though I didn't even order the cheapest dish (Peking duck), the service from this one waitress remained unfriendly: no "hello" or "thank you", let alone any friendliness. On November 3, 2024 around 5:40 p.m.: Since the Peking duck was quite good, I wanted to give the restaurant another chance and this time try the dim sum specialties. Unfortunately that didn't happen. When I got there, I waited for what felt like an eternity until someone agreed to give me a table. I didn't have a reservation, but you could still see plenty of free tables. A waiter just told me succinctly that all the tables had already been reserved for tonight and he didn't even have to check the reservations in the system🤦🏻‍♀️ Maybe it wasn't lucrative enough for the restaurant to have a single guest at a table for two people I can't explain it any other way. But you could tell from the waiter that it was just a bad excuse. When I later looked in the restaurant's reservation tool for reservation options for the evening, there were still enough time slots available. I subsequently booked it in the tool for 6:30 p.m. that same evening. But then I felt so stupid that I had to wait another 40 minutes for a table (even though there were free tables) in a restaurant where I was obviously not welcome. I later canceled the reservation in the tool and spent my money at "Ahoi by Hennsler", where I was treated very kindly. Thanks to the Ahoi team for saving Sunday evening! At a restaurant in this price range I can expect a minimum of friendliness in service. My impression was that they weren't interested in guests.

But 5-6 waiters simply leave the guests standing there at the entrance. Nobody comes by and asks or offers anything to help. I stood there for 15' and everyone just walks by. It's really rude and unprofessional service. Once and never again.

Beautifully decorated rooms! The food is generally authentic, fresh and delicious. But if you know good food in China, your expectations are not quite met.

There were four of us eating. Two got their food, two would still wait today. After our partners were finished, we didn't feel like waiting any longer.

Based on online recommendations, we chose the Dim Sum House to eat the Peking duck. The service was very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, the ambience was getting a bit old and our table lamp with wires was more or less poorly repaired. The Peking duck menu came quickly. The composition was not particularly creative, but that can be seen from the map. We were particularly excited about the duck. This was okay, but unfortunately nothing more. It was just moderately warm, crispy and tasty. The quality of the food was okay overall, but nothing special. Unfortunately I have to say that the price/performance ratio didn't suit us. We paid €137 including a beer for two people. We would have found a price under €100 to be appropriate. Next time we will go back to our local Chinese restaurant, where you can also order without glutamate.

We became aware of Instagram reports from my favorite chefs. We decided to try it too and were not disappointed. The dishes were very tasty and the service was also very accommodating. The next time we come to Hamburg we have planned a visit.

Unfortunately, Peking duck is not similar to what you eat in China. The Hqut is not crispy and thick. And the meat is not juicy. The cucumbers are also cut too thick.

Despite booking 2 weeks in advance, we didn't have a table. The three of us were seated at a tiny table for two and only after a very long wait. When I asked how that could be, I was told that you can't make a reservation for three people, even though the system worked and there were two tables of four around us with three people each sitting there. Finally we left again. That was really terrible service! How can you overbook a restaurant with so much experience?

Very high quality food that is very close to the food in China. The restaurant, which has been around since 1964, is a bit old in terms of atmosphere. The service is quick but impersonal. We ate different dim sums, all of which were delicious.

The ambience is very nice. You can dine comfortably here. The dim sum are great. The main course last time was good, duck. This time chicken, a bit carelessly declared as a vegetable side dish with some peppers and onions. I was definitely disappointed with the price at 20 euros.

The 4 of us were disappointed. It was a birthday dinner. Long wait despite reservation; the ambience is appealing but far too loud! The food arrived at a gallop before the drinks!! Although the starter (good-tasting soup) from the duck menu that we had ordered was not yet eaten by everyone, the intermediate course and - the highlight we were hoping for > the Peking duck - arrived in one go. There wasn't enough space on the table to put everything. The question as to whether the duck would not be carved at the table was answered with a “no”. We were frustrated not only by this but also by the fact that the food (with the exception of the soup) was delivered practically cold. We were through everything after a little over an hour. None of this met our expectations.

This is the second time we have been to the Dim Sum House and our first impression was confirmed the second time: the food is really delicious! Both the dim sum starter and the main courses (especially the Peking duck) are great. However, the service put a damper on our euphoria. However, it didn't seem like the waiter cared. Great food - mediocre service.

We didn't get a good table at first, even though many tables were still empty. The table legs were annoying when sitting (they were between my legs). Luckily we were able to swap tables. Food was very good.

The table I had reserved a week in advance was canceled while I was already on the way. Apparently the cash register system collapsed. When I asked him to recommend an alternative to me as a non-Hamburger, he said I should look on Google and then just come back another day. I have rarely been treated so rudely and arrogantly. The food there can't be that good to justify treating the guest like that. Small update: The story about the cash register system also turned out to be a blatant and shameless lie. The reason for the short-term cancellation was a closed company that had probably announced itself at short notice and probably seemed more lucrative. This was stated by a note attached to the door. Nobody needs a rip-off like that. In my opinion, a typical example of a traditional shed that is run down by subsequent generations.

It was very nice! The “Peking Duck” menu for 4 people was very good. The filling of the pockets in the soup could perhaps have been a little softer, the duck could have been a little hotter and therefore crispier. But it was really good.

Since I liked very much the food, I’ll be back to them to give them another chance though. Overall it’s an expensive restaurant considering average Hamburg price for that kind of experience!

The dim sum didn't convince me at all. But tofu with Chinese leek was very good :) The service was quick, unfortunately there was little patience and support when choosing dishes.

Sunday afternoon at 17.30 we couldn't get a table although the whole restaurant was nearly empty. Service was very rude and not willing to help. We then made an online reservation, got a table 30 min later but not very willingly. During our whole sty service was very rude, slow and chaotic. If it wasn't for the food we would habe been there the last time.

Reservation went smoothly, the food, lots of starters, went quickly and was ok, but the service wasn't on point today. Too bad

The food was outstanding! The different types of dim sum are super delicious. We would have loved to try them all.

Food was good. First time Peking duck. Unfortunately the waitress was very unmotivated and inattentive. It's a shame because a lot of money was left there.

The food was delicious as always, the starter only came after the main course and we sat for a long time with empty plates until we called someone. The other times I've been here, the service has been much faster and more attentive, even though it's always busy

It was a bit disappointing: there was no greeting and a cold manner from the service, the main meals came at different times so we couldn't eat together and the prices were a bit overpriced for noodle/rice dishes. Unfortunately for us it didn't live up to its good reputation

We had some dim sum after the theater, it was delicious and when we have more time and, above all, more hunger, we'll come back and bring reinforcements to eat our way through the menu (the neighbors' Peking duck looked great too)
