Marschländer Elblounge in Hamburg

Highly recommended! We went to the Elblounge with 11 people for a birthday party. We've visited the restaurant several times before as a couple and have never been disappointed.

First-class food, limited (but good) wine selection, extremely friendly and dedicated staff, and a fantastic location overlooking the Elbe River (though sun blinds would be recommended for temporary use). Recently we were there for roast goose, and a little later for Sunday brunch, and a little later for lunch: Everything was excellent! Our guests and we were thrilled. Today (August 31, 2025) we were there with six people for brunch. Everything was perfect again: attentive and friendly service, delicious cold and hot dishes, a view over the Norderelbe River—what more could you ask for? Thank you, Katja, to your crew in the kitchen and in the service department, and to you!

We were invited to a wedding reception at the Elblounge. A wonderful atmosphere, a fantastic view, and excellent food. The buffet left nothing to be desired. The service staff was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

The grill buffet was delicious, fresh, and more than adequate. Everyone was full, 20+ people. We were more than satisfied. We'd be happy to come back anytime. #YummyDrinks

Disappointing despite the nice ambiance The café's ambiance is appealing and cozy, but unfortunately, the positives end there. We ordered a cappuccino and cheesecake. The coffee arrived just in time for the cake, which wasn't served until much later! That alone was incomprehensible, as both were ordered at the same time. The cappuccino tasted of burnt coffee, which unfortunately made it inedible. The cheesecake clearly seemed like a ready-made cake from a supermarket (probably Rewe), which for €10.50 including a scoop of ice cream is simply outrageous, especially when it's not freshly made. When asked why the wait was so long, the waitress explained that large groups were served first. This means, in other words, that if only four people arrive, they are given lower priority. In the entire café, there were only two larger tables, each occupied by about eight people. There were four staff members, yet we were neither served promptly nor even asked later if everything was okay. ``` Overall, a very disappointing experience. It's a shame about the lovely ambiance; with such poor service and mediocre or obviously overcooked food, the café is unfortunately not worth recommending.

Our first visit there, and it was phenomenal! We had a voucher for a candlelight dinner, but unfortunately, it had already expired. Even though we offered to dine there without the voucher, the chef personally insisted on preparing a candlelight dinner for us on the house anyway. We were very grateful, and every dish was not only incredibly delicious but also beautifully presented. The service is simply 10/10: authentic, friendly, accommodating, and noticeably warm! The ambiance is beautiful, inviting, warm, and very cozy! We look forward to our next visit and would definitely recommend the Marschländer Elblounge!

Bad service, food not great and very expensive.

Beautiful ambiance – disappointing experience We were guests with a larger group and were looking forward to a pleasant evening in an upscale setting. Unfortunately, our expectations were not met. The tables were set up in an uninviting manner: empty pepper mills, burnt-out candles. The service seemed overwhelmed and quickly irritated. The salad advertised as a main course was only available from the buffet, which was almost empty and unappetizing. A polite comment led to an inappropriately harsh reaction from the chef – very unprofessional. The meal itself was mixed: My salmon steak was good, but the risotto was inedible. Raw, flavorful tomatoes rounded off the plate negatively. One pan dish arrived 15 minutes later than the rest of the group, while others were missing components like cream. We could barely order desserts – the kitchen closed around 9 p.m., even though we had a reservation until 10 p.m. Conclusion: A beautiful restaurant with potential, but unfortunately characterized by a lack of hospitality and inconsistent quality. For us, this was our first and last visit.

A fantastic location to celebrate a successful wedding. We are very happy that we spent our special day there in September 2024. Incredibly delicious food, a great selection of drinks, a sheltered terrace with a roof, a cozy and modern interior, and friendly staff who always spread a good mood. Everything we discussed in advance was implemented exactly as planned. The limited space limits the table layout, but this adds to the coziness, even for small parties. The venue has its own music system, which we had to use, but the quality is perfectly adequate. We are completely satisfied.

Our visit to the Elblounge was a complete success! The food was a real treat for the palate, every dish a little surprise. The ambience is simply magical and invites you to linger. The service was not only friendly, but also extremely attentive and made our evening even more pleasant. We are thrilled and will definitely come back!

Whether it was an appetizer, main course, or dessert, everything was beautifully presented, the quantity was perfect, and the taste was top-notch. The staff was also very attentive. View of the Elbe River, with a few smaller boats passing by. Simply worth a visit.

The meals are beautifully presented; the cabbage roll is perfect even for those with a very large appetite. The view of the Elbe River is very beautiful. You shouldn't rely solely on the online table selection; other tables were also available at short notice by phone.

Good food, very friendly and competent service, good atmosphere

They make a big deal about themselves and pocket the tips themselves. Employees are ripped off and treated like fools. Their appreciation is zero, just like some of the characters here. Good food and ambiance aren't everything.

Beautiful location, and the food was good, though there were perhaps a few vegetarian options. You definitely pay for the view. We didn't like the fact that they also sell furnishings right next to or in the restaurant. We felt like we were sitting in a store.

We celebrated our wedding at the Marschländer Elblounge, and it was fantastic. The owners are very nice and helpful. The food and the location are truly fantastic. The service staff did a fantastic job and were always cheerful and friendly. All in all, it was an unforgettable evening, and we 100% recommend the Marschländer Elblounge.

We had a reservation since October for 14 people with a champagne reception at 2:30 p.m. and the request for a long table so that we can all sit together. Unfortunately, not everything went as planned on site — we were told the reservation was only at 3 p.m., even though we received confirmation (a day before) for 2:30 p.m. The table was adjusted at our request, which we were really grateful for, but it was quite tight. The food was very tasty, the ambience and the view were really beautiful. Even though the service was mostly friendly, we didn't feel as welcome as we would have liked on what was such a special day for us. It's a shame because with a little more attention it could have been perfect.

We have been here several times since December 24 and have always been impressed by the quality of the starters, main courses and desserts. Very nice atmosphere right on the Elbe. We were here for a birthday party and had a great brunch buffet.

I've never experienced anything like this before. Reserved online 1 week in advance at 3:30 p.m. for 4 people, no later appointment was available. With window seats that cost €5 extra per person. We were happy to be there at 3:20 p.m. The two service ladies looked at us as if we were from the moon, asking if we had reserved it. After an intensive look, we were found at the bottom of a list. The store was empty and there must have been a food fight beforehand. Nothing covered for us. A closed society is also expected soon. We were then allowed to go one floor higher, and nothing was set or prepared there either. When we asked why nothing was prepared for us, the answer was that we were too early. That was the point at which we made the decision to leave. The two service ladies were not customer friendly. Never again, no matter how nice the view/location or the food would be.

Went here for the second time on a bike tour to eat cake and again it was super tasty and cozy. But what I always notice is how friendly the owner of the restaurant is and the ladies in service are also super nice. You always feel very welcome. We'd love to come back.

Very nice location and ambience. The food is good, but the value for money wasn't right on the evening of our visit. The service clearly has room for improvement.

First a small apology. For decades I rode past the Elblounge on my racing bike and thought it was an excursion restaurant where the tourist buses dropped off their older clientele for coffee and cake. Now I was there and I have to say, I was amazed. The interior is modern, the terrace is inviting and the homemade cake is fantastic. The food that was served at the neighboring tables also looked very good. We will definitely come back for a long dinner.

Very nice location. We were there for a wedding. There is even thought of an elevator for people with walking difficulties, wheelchairs, strollers, etc. Unfortunately, this is being used for other purposes and could not be used by those affected. Otherwise everything was great.

This was our second time at the Elblounge, this time on a Saturday evening. Unfortunately we were disappointed this time. Given the really high prices, it's unfortunate that the beer is far too warm and this hasn't changed even after the fourth pilsner from the tap. The kale was fibrous, far too coarse and full of stalks, bitter and poorly seasoned. The pork cheek soggy and tasteless. Only the cabbage sausage and the fried potatoes were really good. Unfortunately not again in the future.

We have been to the Elblounge a few times and have always been satisfied. But not today! The roast beef was good - as was the case on our last visit, but the portion of smelt was very, very manageable, 12 small and tiny fish is not a portion for adults. You had to eat your fill of salad. The service also took some getting used to today: the plates were cleared even though my husband hadn't finished his salad yet. Just careless or a program?

We went to the Meyer family for goose dinner. An absolute culinary delight. I recommend everyone to stop there for a goose meal. Feel free to use white wine with it. From the goose to the wine to the side dishes, it was an absolute tasty evening. A big thank you

A really excellent Sunday brunch.

We were there for the buffet on Christmas Day in the evening. At the beginning the buffet was really great and I had the appetizer! When I wanted to get the main course...everything was there except for the potato gratin and fish! Completely empty...so I had to take salad with the fish...so refilling didn't work...then dessert...that only came when I asked...only ice cream was there...all in all, not again. ..too bad...there were 15 of us.

Good morning! We were there for the - fully booked - Christmas brunch. The restaurant is in a great location on a branch of the Elbe, even if it is a bit cloudy in winter. The placement worked well! The buffet was very good and varied on both the cold and warm routes: antipasti, shrimp, salmon, smoked fish, salads, melon with ham, etc. and really tasty bread. Great! The warm dishes were well made, but the fish in a kind of broth was a bit bland. The pork fillet wrapped in bacon tasted excellent! The side dishes were limited - buffet, cauliflower or broccoli get a bit soft - plentiful and good. There were two desserts. A light gingerbread mouse and a chocolate mouse - both very tasty - and ice cream, a hit with the kids! Overall, a good buffet with great points and few weaknesses! The service was very friendly and tried hard, but a bit overwhelmed. A force above and below would have been good! Many drinks remained unordered. Too bad for the landlord too! A service worker who was rude and unfriendly to guests, but especially to colleagues, was noticed unpleasantly! It doesn't work at all - ruins the mood! The booking and cash register system is not mastered. We first had two children of the wrong age on our bill who were not ours, then two adults who were also registered, but whose participation we had canceled - luckily in writing - at the beginning of December. The cancellations were long, complicated and again unfriendly (!). It doesn't work that way! There is an urgent need for training! The boss who then intervened mastered the cancellation and billing system and then everything ran quickly and smoothly! But she can't be everywhere at the same time! No matter who collects, everyone must have the booking and cash register system! All in all, we didn't let the Christmas mood spoil our spirits and we're coming to summer - the outdoor terrace is moving! - gladly again. Let's see whether "the room for improvement" can be used. Tip: If you have relatives with walking difficulties (crutches, walker, wheelchair) with you, be sure to reserve a table downstairs. It makes life easier for you and everyone else - despite the presence of an elevator. The bottlenecks only exist when booked out!

We were there for the first time at Christmas and we really enjoyed it. The ambience is classy without being fancy. The prices are high but fair. Service was attentive but not intrusive and the food was fantastic (especially the game goulash - a poem!)!

We went to the Elblounge today to celebrate our birthday. The ambience and food is wonderful. But the panfish dish had more salmon than panfish, which was a shame if you don't like salmon, and the salad buffet wasn't pointed out. We also had to wait a very long time. We were also not “seen” (ordering dessert or getting the bill). I expect more from an upscale restaurant like this

Absolutely delicious! 😋 We drove about an hour to eat the infamous goose in the ElbLounge. And all you can say is that the goose was delicious. Great side dishes, if there wasn't enough you could even order more... Where else can you get something like that these days? We are absolutely thrilled with the very friendly staff and the owner. Goose dinner 2025: The goose was ok, the side dishes were mediocre. The dumplings/dumplings and the croquettes didn't look homemade. The service was weak and inattentive. It started with asking for drinks before drinks were handed out. The food was served without comment and the service was largely unattentive. Conclusion: You can do it, but there are definitely better places for the Christmas goose.

We were there for the first time. We went for brunch. The buffet was great. Very attentive staff and the atmosphere is great with a view of the Elbe. We'd love to come back. Our dog was immediately given a bowl of water. Super attentive. We felt completely comfortable.

We came here for goose dinner and it was just great. The goose was on point, the side dishes were perfect and the wine was unusually good (by Hamburg standards)! We will come back next for the duck dinner...thanks to the whole team for a really nice evening.

+ The great location on the dike with a very nice view + Stylish ambience + Good cuisine - Waiter takes three orders incorrectly. Instead of labskaus there was salmon, instead of pumpkin soup there was Asian curry soup. The herbal tea we ordered was also different than described on the menu. And what happened to the salad buffet was only revealed when we asked the waiter - The waiter's shirt probably no longer fit into his pants :( Very unkempt appearance - Guests are touched or otherwise physically assaulted by wait staff to gain space. - The request to get a little more tartar sauce is only implemented the second time you ask. - Reordered drinks will be brought, but the empty bottles and glasses will be left behind. Conclusion: I will NOT be coming back.

Nice restaurant with small errors. At first glance, nice atmosphere. However, if you look under the table on the terrace or in corners, it no longer looks so good. I didn't want to sit in the beach chair because the cushions were very dented. The food was quite good, but not outstanding. By attending a company, you feel like you have been pushed into the background. I will still come again, but ask in advance whether a company is planned.

We celebrated a big birthday in the Elblounge today. At first we were a bit irritated because we didn't celebrate on the first floor as previously discussed, but were asked to go to the second floor. But the initial skepticism quickly disappeared. The upper floor had a wonderful view of the Elbe and the room was air conditioned, which was a blessing in today's hot weather. The food was excellent, the service was very attentive, extremely friendly and accommodating. Our grandchildren's request for fruit for their drinks was granted without much fuss. We all felt very comfortable. Many thanks to the Meier couple and their team for the great hospitality, we had a wonderful day and can highly recommend the Elblounge. We are already looking forward to our next visit there.

A nice restaurant, right on the Elbe in the beautiful Vier and Marschlande. Great and friendly team. There is a lot on offer when it comes to breaking. From sweet to savory, everything is there. Everyone can find something to their liking. A fantastic view of the Elbe and the dike in front of it. It's worth a visit.

Recently went for Sunday brunch and absolutely loved it. Today, Whit Monday, we reserved again with 4 people and unfortunately we were a bit disappointed 😞. Great atmosphere and the table was nicely set. Food in the winter garden was rejected because everything there was still dirty after the celebration and couldn't be cleaned 😑 . Unfortunately only 3 tables were reserved because no more guests had registered and so was the choice of food. Very limited. Not even a bag of white bread. Remove the salmon immediately and eat 19 shrimps. Lots of Mettwurst and cheese. Upon request, dessert came at 12.30. No ice cream but 3 different flavors in small glasses - gone straight away. Everything was decorative and tasted good but at 47.50 euros per person it was completely overpriced. Free Aperol was offered as compensation but we were there to eat and not drink. It's a shame ☹️

A great restaurant with a great ambience. Large terrace, the glass walls facing the Elbe from a difficult time😂 Overall, it's just great, including the prices, but they match the food.
