We're very sad to read that this restaurant will also be closing at the beginning of 2026. We were regulars at the Zornige Ameise in Essen for years, then always drove to Mülheim. We were last here two weeks ago – enjoyed the delicious food – and now we read that this too will soon be over. What a shame... a real shame.

It's a well-known restaurant. It's beautifully located. Parking is available right outside. The decor is a matter of taste. The menu is good. There are many different dishes, each one a little different from the others. The staff is friendly. You can have a great time there.

We read it was closing soon, so we went again. Was it worth it? It's okay. After ordering, the drinks arrived quickly. Then came a "greeting from the kitchen." Warm, crusty bread with herb butter. The herb butter was made with either Maggi or lovage. It smelled intense but the flavor was surprisingly neutral. A few spices instead of Maggi would have worked wonders. And then the salads for the main courses, even though the starter hadn't been served yet. Strange order. The so-called Drago salad came on a warm plate... the usual leaf salads, cucumbers, and cocktail tomatoes. Plus carrots and canned corn. Topped with standard cocktail dressing. Nothing special. Then came the starter. The tomato soup was really hot. Slightly sweet in aroma, but also the right acidity. Still, something was missing. After the soup came the main courses. The Mühleneck grill plate. Quite solid, but the Béarnaise sauce was cold. At least it was homemade. Very economical, too, but as I said, cold. Therefore, it's difficult to judge the taste. The four cuts of meat were juicy and delicious, the French fries were standard fare. In this regard, I unfortunately have to say that a visit is only worthwhile if you have plenty of money. I'd also like to mention or comment on the service. The employees are really hard-working and friendly, but the owner is awful. Loud, overexcited, drops dishes, and is almost annoying. To pay, you have to go to the cashier and take the "table slip." It's all very strange. Overall, very expensive. For 2 starters, 2 main courses, 2 drinks, and 2 coffees, it came to over €80.

We ate there today with about 20 people. It's a bit dated but still cozy and clean. The service is really great, very friendly, helpful, and fast—nothing to complain about. There's a large selection of dishes that we tried, and everyone was pleased with the freshness and flavor. I can recommend it without hesitation. We'll be back.

The food is okay, but for a steakhouse, for example, I would expect my steak to be cooked to perfection. In this respect, DRAGO falls significantly short compared to other steakhouses. Otherwise, the food is decent. What's really noticeable is that the service staff aren't particularly friendly. This seems to be the fault of the manager, who likes to harass guests when the pressure gets too much. I also find the atmosphere rather uncomfortable. I always beg them not to go there with the family, but our parents like going. It's just for retirees...

It was our first time eating here, and it won't be our last. The food was served to all of us (10 people) at the same time and was of top quality. The staff is super friendly and always very helpful. If you want to eat very well, this is the perfect place.

We used to love going to the "Zornige Ameise" restaurant at Drago Essen in Essen. Now we wanted to try the restaurant of the same name in Mülheim. Unfortunately, we were a bit disappointed... the food was "OK," the restaurant was "a matter of taste," and the food was "average." The conclusion: It's OK, but unfortunately not enough to warrant a return.

The service is friendly and attentive. However, there aren't enough vegetarian options. A seasonal menu is available. The prices are very high. The ambiance is rustic. The outdoor dining area isn't as nice as it used to be.

My family has been eating here for years/generations, and it's always great. Great food, friendly people. What more could you want?

We've been going to Drago for years for my mother's birthday, her 85th this year. First at the Zornige Ameise in Essen Steele, now in Mülheim an der Ruhr. The restaurant has a lovely ambiance...you just feel at home. The food is very good, but like everywhere else, it comes at a price, which we're happy to pay. The absolute highlight, however, is the service. Our waitress, affectionately called "Uncle" by the children, is a true waiter who makes every visit truly special! I hope we'll be celebrating our birthdays at Drago for many years to come. I highly recommend this restaurant ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

So I won't want to go there again. Service was top at the start, We waited an hour for the food and after that no one said anything. The kids wanted dessert, no one came. After 45 minutes we asked again, we were very annoyed, but then no quick, the table would be occupied immediately. If the service was better, this problem would not have arisen. We didn't want dessert anymore. Insight from the staff is zero!!!

Best cuisine in Mülheim - people still cook properly here! Very nice people in service and quick too. For larger groups, à la carte can be served smoothly without anyone breaking a sweat. It's a shame that we no longer live nearby and don't come there regularly anymore... Update: Went there again a while ago and it's still the same great restaurant as it was back then! The food tastes great, just like back then, and is of first-class quality. The service is, as it was back then, warm and courteous and classy without being aloof. Keep it up - the best memory of Mülheim for us and it's still just as great as it was back then :)

Since the Drago at the Zornige Ameise in Essen no longer exists, we have been coming to Mülheim regularly. It's worth it because the food is unbeatably good. The service is as usual at Drago, very friendly, fast and personal. The quality of the restaurant, if you add everything up, is very good.

The food is good, home-style, Greek and the portions are big enough to satisfy any hunger. The staff doesn't always try hard. Too bad. They also offer takeaway food, which I think is great and have used it many times.

It was our first time at Drago and we were extremely pleasantly surprised. From the outside the restaurant looks completely normal, but inside it is lovingly furnished and wonderfully decorated. In addition to the regular menu, there was a weekly lunch menu which, in addition to current offers, also had reduced prices. All dishes were freshly prepared, and the salads also consisted exclusively of fresh ingredients. There were six of us and everyone was very satisfied. Beforehand there was a basket with very tasty baguette. The waiting times were completely normal. A small drawback was that the pistachio ice cream had a clear almond note. Overall, a clear recommendation!

Christmas - OK, it's going to be full of announcements. But waiting 30 minutes in front of the door despite an appointment was borderline. Order and wait. But getting lunch (!) at 3:20 p.m. is not possible. As expected, the Christmas menu is more expensive, but €28 for a schnitzel with fries? Mayo is paid extra and the plate is completely carelessly prepared. A 180 gram rump steak, also with fries, without any sauce or decoration for €48? I feel left out like a Christmas goose. At least the service was friendly and helpful. Next year things can only get better elsewhere.

Die Bedienung war schnell und gut. Es gab leider nur eine Suppe. Diese fand der ganze Tisch nicht lecker, es ging. Die Hauptspeise oder sollten wir sagen XXL-Portionen passen zu den Preisen. Ich würde vorschlagen man korrigiert den Preis nach unten und hat somit auch weniger Essen-Abfall oder Doggybag. Sowohl unser Tisch als auch die Tische neben uns schafften auch nur ca. 80-90% ihres Essens. Die Menschen, die mehr Hunger haben können ja dann noch einen Nachschlag bestellen. Ich finde es so aber einfach nur schade, dass so viel Essen weggeworfen wird. Der Schnitzel-Kinderteller hätte total ausgereicht für meine Familie und mich. Das Kind schaffte es auch nicht ganz.

We have been visiting the Drago restaurant in Essen Zornige Ameise since 1988 - 2021. Afterwards we visited Drago in Mülheim an der Ruhr. We are very enthusiastic about the quality. Today we had a delicious meal again 😋😋😋😋😋

Unfortunately still bad. Low-quality oil is probably used for frying, which can have a negative effect on the gastrointestinal tract. The interior is overloaded, tasteless and no longer up to date. The prices for drinks are ripped off.

This was our first time at Drago. It's really busy, which you can tell when you're looking for a parking space outside. We got a seat in the back of the restaurant. Quite a large room, unfortunately the atmosphere is not that nice, quite loud, tables are in a long row. We don't have to wait long for the food. We both had the Drago steak plate. The pork fillet was more than done, the champions were from a can. I would have expected a little better quality for the price. But maybe we should have ordered a schnitzel dish.

Very nice staff and good food. My last review was from 2018. Even today in October 2024, the food is still great. The photo shows the Balkan grill plate (without the Krassalat) and the small chicken (without Dragosalat). The salads have already been eaten.

A very nice restaurant, parking right next to the house. I was there with someone on a Wednesday afternoon and the restaurant was well attended. The food was good, especially the dessert tasted excellent. The prices are not cheap, but they are still within the range of what you are willing to pay for a nice evening in a well-kept atmosphere with a tasty meal.

The food is really delicious and the service team is very attentive and nice. We had the Balkan grill plate and the schnitzel plate. On the grill plate was a minced steak, a piece of pork, cevapcici, bacon and a skewer. The meat was very tender. As a side dish, djuve rice - which was very fruity, small onions and ajvar. The schnitzel plate came with 3 schnitzels and different sauces. The breading tasted really delicious and the sauces went wonderfully with it. Beforehand there was bread with homemade herb butter, which really tasted very good. It was a really nice experience we will repeat.

Starter was snails, main course was lamb. Very tasty but we couldn't fit dessert😜 we'll definitely be back!

Six of us ate there. The restaurant was very busy. The service had a lot to do, but remained friendly. That was very noticeable. The food was delicious and plentiful. Just as you would expect. But not everything went smoothly when it was served. 1 salad was forgotten. It can happen, but then it should be delivered quickly and that didn't happen. Also, there wasn't what was supposed to be on every plate. But okay, those were small things. Even though it was borderline, I just decided on 4 stars because of the service.

The food is really excellent. When the weather is good, we recommend the great terrace with its wonderful atmosphere. We really enjoy coming here.

We were recently guests at the Steakhouse Drago and can only report positive things. The dishes, including the Schnitzel Uhlenhorst and the fillet steaks with fries and fresh asparagus, were excellently prepared and fully met our taste expectations. The atmosphere in the restaurant is warm and inviting, with classic furnishings that make you feel comfortable. The spacious terrace and sufficient parking spaces complete the positive overall picture. Particularly noteworthy is the friendly and attentive service, which made our visit a special experience.
