Downtowner Korean Urban Restaurant in Köln

Wir waren schon mehrfach im Downtowner und jedes Mal absolut zufrieden – egal ob allein oder mit Freunden. Ich bin Koreanerin und habe hier in Köln schon viele koreanische Restaurants ausprobiert, aber das Downtowner ist mit Abstand das beste. Das Essen ist authentisch und wunderschön angerichtet, vor allem schmeckt es hervorragend! Es ist nicht zu fettig, nicht zu salzig und man merkt, dass keine künstlichen Geschmacksverstärker verwendet werden. Die Chefin, Frau Kim, ist sehr herzlich und freundlich. Service, Essen und Ambiente sind einfach top! Wir werden auf jeden Fall Stammgäste bleiben!

Very great and authentic Korean restaurant. The Dolsot Bibimbap was hot and very tasty, the Korean Fried Chicken (Boneless) was also really good. It was nice that we could both use marinades for the chicken, perfect for sharing. For starters we had the Mandu Kimchi, which was also really tasty. Nothing too spicy. Delicious

The Mandu and the Kimchi Pancake are highly recommended as starters! Well seasoned and served with a sour sauce that goes very well with it. As main courses we had bibimbap and kimchi jiggae, both of which were also highly recommended. There was also a small spicy cucumber salad for free. The only drawback was a confusion that resulted in the wrong dish being served, but that wasn't a big deal.

So delicious, my socks fly off. Really. The tteokbokki are fantastic and also pleasantly spicy.

My favorite restaurant, best dishes, Service is super nice and hardworking, always with a smile. We always enjoy coming back!!!!

My wife urgently had to go to the toilet. Even if she paid, she would be denied access. I then suggested that we order something locally. Would also be rejected. I don't know what it was. The “boss” just didn’t want us. Never experienced it before.

Delicious korean food! However they were out of corndogs and one of the employees asked us to pay after we were done eating not very polite

We got there at 19:15 and the waiter approached us 30 minutes later. She brought 4 out of the 5 drinks we ordered and forgot about it. The food took about 40 minutes to be ready. I ordered the cheese buldak and it was ok but there were not too many rice cakes and it was way too salty. Also, it is overpriced. If you are craving really good Korean I would strongly recommend Hankki. Don’t let yourself be fooled by the good reviews. They have a sign saying that if you give them 5 stars they will give you a free pair of socks.

One of the worst dinner experiences so far in Germany. We went on a Friday night, it took the waiter 30 mins to serve the drinks and another 50 mins for them to serve the food...And even another 15mins to take the check. Don't go if you are in hurry or have limited patience. Food tastes OK.

The store was very busy due to Gamescom, but efforts were made to create a pleasant atmosphere in which everyone was served. For me personally, not the best yangneom chicken, but still solid. The steamed beef mandu and the homemade kimchi were convincing. Gladly again.

Fried chicken was really awesome and the bulgogi was inhaled in record time. Must try!

From what I felt, it was a typical Korean restaurant in Europe. However, I really didn't know that you could eat milk ice-based red bean shaved ice here. In fact, I think red bean shaved ice could be the main dish at this restaurant. It was delicious. Personally, I found the tteokbokki to be just ok.

Japchae was unfortunately very peppery. Bibimbap was delicious. Unfortunately it didn't blow me away. Relatively quite expensive.

It's my favorite restaurant, my boyfriend and I are regular customers, it's worth making a special trip to Cologne every time to eat So Bulgogi. The service is also nice and the socks you can buy there are cute.

Went here because I saw a picture of Bingsu in their fotos on Google Maps as I was craving for one. Not a lot of korean restaurants offer Bingsu. But to my surprise, it was not available!!! But their food is still good though. We ordered Bibimbap, Soy glazed chicken, Corndog, and Japchae. Service is great. Should give it a try when in Köln.

Seasoned chicken is delicious! The location is good and the store is spacious, so I would like to visit again next time.

We ate for lunch in this restaurant. The ambiente is nice and the korean music is not too loud in the background. So talking and enjoying your stay is easy. The price is more in the upper segment but appropriate for the servings provided. For lunch we had the soy garlic boneless chicken, japchae, dolsot bibimbap and a korean cheesedog. We were a group of 4 adults and one child. The ordered food was good enough to share and make us full(asian family). The chicken pieces are quite big. So everyone got one big chicken piece that was almost 100g and some noodles and rice. I ate the cheesedog myself and it is a sweet and cheesy donut, if I would describe it. The ketchup together with the sugar gave it a nice taste. For me it was more of a dessert than a starter but very delicious. If you like donuts it is a must try. All in all we had a nice experience here with good food. We would have also ordered a bingsu shaved ice dessert but unfortunately it was not available due to being sold out. A good korean restaurant that i can warmly recommend.
