I've tried so many Syrian restaurants in Dresden, and here you can say you feel like you're at home. Everything tasted so good, the service was top-notch and friendly... I'd gladly go back.

One of the best halal restaurants in Dresden! The food is authentic Syrian and Levantine cuisine, full of rich flavors that taste just like home. We had been here a few times before in the past few years. It was great. Sadly it seems to have changed owners and was pretty disappointing. They had no idea about our booking, but there was no issue getting a table. They messed up our drink order, brought the main course whilst we were still eating our starter. The food was average. Sadly they no longer serve the excellent Lebanese wine we enjoyed last time (no alcohol now). Won’t go back again. Very amateurish and nothing like in the past, unfortunately.

The decoration is very nice, the staff are very friendly but the food is tasteless.

We were looking for an oriental restaurant and are very happy to have found this one. It's located a few streets away from the main roads and is therefore in a quiet area. The ambiance is cozy and decorated in a traditional style. The staff was very friendly, offered help with the menu, and the chef even came over to make sure everything was perfect. The wait was reasonably short. The prices are excellent! The starter was a very good size, and the main course was presented in beautiful bowls. The food was delicious and exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend Diwan!

The atmosphere is very inviting, the waiter friendly and attentive. The hummus was the best I've ever eaten, and the homemade ayran is also highly recommended! I've been to a few Syrian restaurants in Hamburg, and for the reasonable price, you get maybe a third of the portion. I would come back here every time I visit Dresden.

If you want authentic Syrian food, this is the place for you, and the food is really good. My first choice for Syrian cuisine in Dresden. Almost everything was available in a vegan version. Unfortunately, the German dishes were rather mediocre.

It was my first time at a Syrian restaurant. I was very impressed by the food, but even more so by the staff. They were super friendly and helped me get acquainted with Syrian cuisine. Highly recommended. Definitely worth a second visit.

The food was tasty but nothing special. The service, however, was abysmal. Despite there being barely more than eight people in the restaurant, the service was disorganized and unequal to the task. By the time we got the menu, it had already taken 20 minutes. After that, it was quite quick, but other guests who had apparently arrived much earlier still didn't have their food, and we were already leaving the restaurant. Once and never again!

Everything was perfect: friendly service, great food, and you can always get a seat at short notice. The drinks are also delicious!

I'd give the service zero stars; the two waiters were completely overwhelmed. The restaurant wasn't full, and we had to wait a total of 15 minutes, asking several times, before we even received a menu. When the food arrived, we were asked if we would like some bread. It never made it to our table. By the time we finished eating, the table next to us, who had arrived just a few minutes after us, hadn't even gotten drinks. Unfortunately, the food was also quite bland.

We were very disappointed, as we waited over an hour for our food and the drinks were delivered incorrectly three times, even though there were only three tables occupied. The staff seemed very overwhelmed. Unfortunately, the shawarma tasted just okay. We won't be coming back :(

Today we ate at DIWAN for the first and, unfortunately, last time. We had to wait 1.5 hours for our food. The drinks also arrived very late. The waitress was friendly, but unfortunately, she had no idea what her guests were doing. Empty plates were left unattended, and she didn't ask if there were any requests, let alone if the food was tasty. She received little support from the manager. It's a shame for her restaurant.

Two of us ate at DIWAN today and were completely satisfied. The service was super friendly, and we felt very comfortable. The menu isn't huge, which I personally think is a good thing. The food came fairly quickly, was extremely tasty, and the portions were generous. Besides, I don't know of any other restaurant in Dresden's Neustadt district that serves comparable food.

Wonderful Syrian restaurant “Diwan” with outstanding service! I absolutely loved my visit to Dewan Syrian Restaurant! The food was incredibly tasty, authentic and prepared with a lot of love. I would particularly like to highlight the extremely friendly waiter Ali. With his warm manner, his smile and his attentiveness he really made our evening special. You just feel welcome and in good hands with him. A big thank you to the entire team – and especially to Ali! I'll definitely come back.

Particularly noteworthy is the great price-performance ratio. I will definitely come back and can only recommend this restaurant!

Overall, the restaurant is not bad, but unfortunately the waitress was overwhelmed with her tasks. She was inattentive to details, discussed inappropriately with guests, and spoke in Arabic even though I asked her to communicate in German since I don't understand Arabic (although my husband speaks Arabic). We are in Germany, I would like to speak in German. Although the meat was tasty, the presentation of the grill plate for two people left a lot to be desired. Instead of a salad promised in the menu, we were given a mixture of raw onions and parsley. When I politely pointed out that I had ordered a salad as described on the menu, it was explained to me that onions with parsley were considered a salad. Sorry, but raw onions with a few greens hardly resemble a real salad. As an apology, the manager later offered us a plate of something called a salad - but it was so generously covered in mayonnaise that it could make you sick. Unfortunately, the overall experience was disappointing, even if the meat was quite well prepared.

You can't get better Syrian food in Dresden! Everything is super freshly prepared, extremely tasty and authentic. If you are looking for something special, you will find it here.

A few months ago we were in the divan. The operator and the concept must have changed in the meantime. Unfortunately it's not that great anymore. The food was better before and the great teas are also missing. The staff is friendly and helpful. The concept is not coherent. Oh, you're now betting on 0.0 per mille....

10 out of 10 – My favorite restaurant for Arabic food in Dresden! I've been to Aldiwan many times, and it's now my absolute favorite place for Arabic food in Dresden. The food is always incredibly delicious, fresh, and authentic – you can simply taste how much love goes into it. We recently even organized a celebration there (photos to follow!), and it was simply perfect all around: The team was super friendly and helpful, the atmosphere was beautiful, and the food, as always, was fantastic. Friends of mine invited me to come along; we were there with a larger group and even got our own room. The restaurant has very friendly and accommodating new owners. There's a great vegetarian menu and a wide selection of desserts. Incidentally, I've never had such good baba ganoush.

The rooms are themed, and a Syrian-like atmosphere greets customers. The staff always seems friendly, but sometimes overwhelmed by the average number of customers. Perhaps it should be noted before the visit that no alcoholic beverages are served here. The food was no longer warm, and a preheated plate/pot would have been helpful. The waiting time could definitely be reduced, but this is also due to the long service times. I don't understand why German classics (schnitzel, etc.) are on the menu...when I go to a restaurant like this, I have to be aware that the food is a bit different. Unfortunately, it wouldn't be worth a second visit for me.

The restaurant offers an authentic Syrian atmosphere with warm hospitality. The dishes are fresh, aromatic and excellently seasoned. The mezze, the tender lamb and the homemade desserts are particularly recommended. The service is attentive and friendly, and the prices are reasonable for the high quality of the dishes. A great place to enjoy traditional Syrian cuisine!

I used to be a big fan of this restaurant, but unfortunately my last visit was disappointing. When we sat down and the waitress came, we all said a friendly “Hello” – but she didn’t even respond. She seemed stressed, even though it wasn't particularly crowded. The service overall was inattentive and uninviting. The food wasn't convincing either. The quality and taste used to be significantly better. I don't know if anything has changed, but it was no longer the restaurant I so appreciated. Unfortunately I won't be coming back again.

Food was not as stated in the menu and when asked it was said that it was supposed to be that way and what was in the menu was optional. Both meals were only cold to lukewarm. We had to wait over 40 minutes for the food even though there was very little going on at the time. Then pay again. There was no hospitality either. The staff is totally overloaded or overwhelmed.

The Diwan Restaurant is an absolute must for anyone who loves authentic oriental cuisine! The dishes are not only a visual highlight, but also simply perfect in terms of taste. Really bad. We waited about 40 minutes for the food, although the restaurant was almost empty. You order one dish and get something else on your plate. I ordered Fattah because I wanted to try something new. In the end there were cashews instead of the promised almonds (good thing I don't have an allergy). Tomato wasn't included, and minced meat had to be ordered separately, as it turns out, even though "minced beef" is listed second among the ingredients. When I asked where the missing ingredients were, I was told "yes, the dish is actually served like this. If you want, we can add a tomato on top. You have to order minced meat separately, but it is basically vegetarian". Yes, maybe, I have no idea what the dish is supposed to look like. However, a certain degree of consistency with the menu is normally to be expected in the restaurant... The staff is also totally overloaded, we had to wait quite a long time before we could pay.

The two of us ate here today and got a seat even without a reservation. The atmosphere is nice and the music isn't too intrusive. The waiter was very friendly. Our starter - fried beef was unfortunately still frozen inside but was replaced without any problems. The main courses, on the other hand, were very tasty. You couldn't pay by card. I have always tried Arabic Imbisses but never tried a restaurant. Hence, tried something new. The interior is nice and looks good in general but there were only four tables occupied from atleast 20 tables on a Friday evening. So, I was missing the restaurant vibe a bit. Also meant that I got my food fast. My friend and I ordered home made lemonade, and it was a good pick for a warm summer evening. For food, I took a kebap mix and my friend ordered Marrusch. Both of us felt like the level of spice was dialled down but it was tasty. Which not uncommon in Europe for any Asian cuisuines but what made us a bit dissatisfied was the amount of food. From Dresden's perspective, the restaurant's menu is not cheap thats for sure. Which is fine by me, but in an Arabic or Indian restaurant I expect my tummy to be filled, no matter what I am paying. That's kind of a part of the food culture. Anyways, the service was nice, so I am giving them a five star there.

This was my second time as a guest, the first time was a few years ago and I remembered a pretty positive experience. However, my next visit left me a little disappointed. The warm starter plate (for what I thought was a generous price) was so small and sparsely topped (less than in the photos here on Google) that I was initially confused as to whether a mistake had been made. The dishes were then lukewarm and the taste was not entirely convincing. The avocado salad for almost the same price was quite a large portion and tasted quite good too. We drank two more teas, which were okay - my mint tea tasted quite bland. The service was passable, quite sober/reserved. All in all, I think there has been a lot of reduction/savings here since my first visit. It's actually a shame because the atmosphere is great and the restaurant has so much potential!

Great load. Without being able to judge it, it all felt very authentic. Gladly again. Beer is a bit expensive, but you can find something tasty to eat for under 20 euros. I ate something vegetarian myself. The meat dishes also looked very good.

Great experience. We had the cold starter to share which tasted great and was plenty. The bread was warm and the dips were all different and each tasted great. This was followed by a the main courses lamb kebab and the Maqlooba with beef. Both dishes, the meat just melted in your mouth and was a flavour explosion. Again portion size was plenty and we felt like we rolled back out of the place. Can only recommend this place.

Went here with my husband for Valentine's Day and I'm unfortunately a little disappointed with our visit. The atmosphere was very pleasant and there wasn't much going on, which I liked. The food and drinks were generally delicious, I love oriental cuisine. But the main course (had a plate for two) was lukewarm and was already brought where we ate the starters. My husband also ordered dumplings for dessert - in the end there was only one pocket on the plate. Unfortunately, service was cold and emotionless, not our cup of tea. Otherwise the price was quite ok.

It would have been nice if there had been an offer of a free glass of tea after the main course. The dessert (filled dumplings) served with a scoop of ice cream would have been nicer. Otherwise the food was delicious. Very suitable for vegetarians!!
