The average rating of 4.4 is clearly too low. Lovely ambiance in the back courtyard. Friendly staff, always on the ball, but still taking the time to chat. The food was absolutely top-notch. We've eaten at Krügelgenhaus three times during our stay in Dresden, and we were delighted every time. Both with the food and the service. The food was delicious every time, and you can tell the service is passionate about what they do. We highly recommend this restaurant.

The food was super delicious and fresh. I was very impressed by the amazing chicken fillet, nice and juicy and well-seasoned. The service was also excellent. We should have waited about an hour for our food because there was a larger group of about 15-20 people ahead of us. But the chef arranged everything so we could get our food beforehand. An hour quickly turned into 20 minutes. Absolutely fantastic! I would recommend it again and again. :)

We ended our day trip to Dresden, with its impressive sights—seemingly every meter—by chance at this wonderful restaurant outside on the avenue. The ambiance is wonderful and stylish. The service is excellent, charming, and very personal. The food is simply magnificent, freshly prepared with passion. All in all, 5 out of 5 stars, highly recommended, we will definitely be back. Excellent value for money.

I was spoiled for choice between goulash and sauerbraten. Based on the restaurant's recommendation, I opted for the sauerbraten – trusting the words: "Other restaurants send their guests here for sauerbraten." And indeed: an absolute hit! The sauerbraten was tender and aromatic, accompanied by homemade red cabbage and fluffy potato dumplings. This trio was a culinary delight – I've probably never experienced such a perfect trio before. Highly recommended!

We discovered the restaurant as part of an Eat the World tour and were immediately smitten, so we reserved a table the following day. Excellent food, lovely ambiance, and the house beer is highly recommended.

A very authentic place, very close to the center

Here you can eat delicious fried liver with mashed potatoes and salad. Excellent, just as you would expect. While mashed potatoes take some getting used to, properly mashed potatoes are much better. Whenever I visit my girlfriend in Dresden and we happen to be nearby while strolling through the city, we eat there.

We ate here twice in a row. The service was super friendly, the food was delicious, and the fried potatoes were simply amazing.

A culinary experience full of heart and a sense of home – Kügelgenhaus Dresden Last Saturday, we were privileged to spend an unforgettable evening at Kügelgenhaus – and what can we say: It was a feast for all the senses. We sat outside, amidst the charming ambiance that wonderfully combines history and coziness. Our craving for honest, hearty German cuisine was not only satisfied – it was surpassed. The appetizers: A crisp, fresh salad and a potato soup with sausages, so aromatic and lovingly seasoned that you would have loved to eat it with your eyes closed. It was already clear: this kitchen doesn't just cook – it creates magic with dedication. The main courses: Saxon Sauerbraten and roast pork with a golden, crispy crust, accompanied by delicious side dishes. And then the red cabbage – what a revelation! Finely chopped, homemade, with a perfectly balanced flavor – you rarely experience something like this. No trace of convenience, no compromise on quality or taste. This was true craftsmanship. The service: Our waitress was simply fantastic – warm, competent, attentive, yet completely relaxed and completely in their element. Such service is rare these days. Five stars are hardly enough – we would give it 100 if we could. Our conclusion: A place where hospitality, tradition, and enjoyment come together at the highest level. We felt completely at home – and will definitely be back. Thank you for this special culinary experience!

I was very pleasantly surprised by my visit to this restaurant. I particularly enjoyed the schnitzel, the fresh salad, and the creamy potato soup – everything was prepared with love and perfectly balanced. The service was also extremely friendly and attentive. I don't usually give restaurants full marks, and here, 5 stars isn't even enough. The service was the most pleasant I've ever experienced in a restaurant. The food and drinks were delicious.

For lunch we had a large Sachsische Kartoffelsuppe (and it was really large). (Sie haben Zeit) Delicious. In the evening a steak au four. Wonderfully friendly service, and if I could not come here more often, due to circumstances, I would probably have been there every evening for the rest of my holiday. We will definitely come back here on our next visit/holiday. And so we went back after 2 years. We ate here for 7 evenings and 1 lunch, and everything was delicious. Again very friendly service. For us this is a top restaurant.

The ambience goes like this: there were Christmas decorations on the table that should perhaps be taken down because they take up space and I think less is more. A real tip in Dresden Neustadt for typical Saxon cuisine. We were so excited that we went there twice in a row. As a “repeat offender” we even had a round of grappa. The Saxon Sauerbraten is recommended, but the dumplings or liver are also highly recommended. Nice, friendly and authentic.

Discovered this beautiful restaurant by chance during a city trip. The food was very good - you can taste that the components were made in-house (e.g. dumplings, red cabbage). Atmosphere is relaxed and service is attentive. Really recommended!

The staff were very accommodating, the chef was great, just to mention that, and my meal was very tasty, along with a good beer. Incidentally, the prices were very reasonable for Dresden. A half-liter of beer, from Bavaria at that, was under €4. Really good. An insider tip for us. Addendum: The stars remain the same. The food was great, and the waitress was very friendly and accommodating. It's just a shame that you can't tip the staff via the terminal. It's always possible elsewhere. You almost never carry fixed-term deposits with you.

Another highlight in Dresden for us. Hunger drew us to the new town. To the Kügelgenhaus in the Baroque Quarter. From the first contact with the waitress to the moment we left the restaurant, we were able to experience something special. Warm service, very good food, great and quiet atmosphere. I come to Dresden very often just to visit the Kügelgenhaus and take a little walk through Dresden's old town. The food is always a pleasure and is served to me by always friendly and very accommodating service. Whether in the small beer garden in summer or in the old rooms in winter, it is always very cozy. I always enjoy coming back and I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant

Since the boss took over “complete command” in the kitchen, 5 stars for the food are a MUST! There are also “slimmer meals” for seniors --> simply great. The service can't be faulted either! Friendly, accommodating, uncomplicated, simply pleasant to visit. Recommendation again and again and has been for a long time. Keep it up “Team Kügelgenhaus”!! 👍👍👍

Highly recommended, delicious food, in a chic atmosphere! My meal (sauerbraten) was only lukewarm when it was served, which I told the waiter shortly afterwards. He reacted brilliantly - "the mistake" was admitted, it was immediately heated up, new meat was served on it and to compensate for it there was a schnapps of your choice on the house. Optimal! It was very tasty, good portion size and prices are reasonable. We'd love to come back!

Yesterday we had our company Christmas party in the restaurant and then went to an event in the Comédie Royale, which belongs to the restaurant. We rated the food differently. The trout and the venison goulash were very good. The bread dumplings served with the goulash were dry and hard. After complaining, we received a replacement, which was fine. The top blade steak did not live up to expectations. It was also not asked how it was desired (e.g. medium). Unfortunately it was absolutely fried. The problem was the service. As agreed, we went to the restaurant at 6:00 p.m. to eat in peace and go to the event at 8:00 p.m. The food had already been pre-ordered so the kitchen could prepare. Since we worked all day, we were hungry too. When we arrived at 7:30 p.m.!!! While we were still waiting for our food, we were told that we could do it and that the event wouldn't start without us. I replied that we actually wanted to enjoy the meal in peace and that this is no longer possible. We also have to make sure we get the last train. The innkeeper's answer: "Don't get on my chains." When the food came at 7:40 p.m., we discovered that two meals had been forgotten when we ordered. Certainly our fault, but if the food had been served on time, this wouldn't have been a problem. So my colleague had to wolf down the food. My colleague once again expressed criticism of this process. The owner then shouted, sorry, I have never experienced such behavior in the catering industry. We were all pissed off and in a complete 180° at one point. We were then greeted as the latecomers to the event, not as the people who had to wait 100 minutes for their food. The restaurant definitely ruined our Christmas party. A word of apology is missing. I will never enter this restaurant again.

I would like to agree with my colleague, the conclusion to our company Christmas party is negative. This is by no means due to the kitchen. Despite different reviews of the individual dishes, the overall picture is rather positive, the schnitzel, the venison goulash and the trout Müllerin style were particularly well received. The problem lay in the service and process. There were a total of 25 people at our celebration, 24 of whom were in the restaurant before 6 p.m. One person had problems despite leaving early knowing there was a lack of parking space due to the Christmas market and arrived around 6:30 p.m. Smaller gaps at the table were caused by a few colleagues going to the toilet and smoking. Another starter in addition to the three we had pre-ordered was ordered when everyone was there when the waitress asked if anyone else would like a warm starter. If they had slowly started handing out the salads for starters at this time, there would have been no time problems afterwards. I don't want to hide the fact that we forgot to order 2 main courses, the mistake is ours. We are all human and in the run-up to Christmas everyone's stress levels are very high. We would have noticed this mistake sooner if we had been able to start eating early as planned, which is why we ordered in advance at the restaurant and thus had more time before the cabaret. So after about 1.5 hours of waiting, we started with the starters, then came the main courses, where the previously mentioned error was discovered and stress finally broke out. As a result, our boss approached the owner to objectively criticize the process, only to be shouted at in front of half the staff that we had to behave. Up to this point I have not found any reason in our behavior that would have even remotely justified such an outburst. I would also ask you to explain what wrongdoing you claim to have committed towards your waitress, rather than writing down this claim without justification. Even if we will probably no longer meet as guests and restaurateurs, we can only learn and improve from objective criticism of the other side.

The restaurant is centrally located. We wanted to go out for a hearty meal again and ordered knuckle and sauerbraten. Food and service were great.

Looking for a cozy spot for dinner, we ended up at the Kügelgenhaus, what luck! The first thing worth mentioning is the extremely friendly and attentive service from everyone involved! Saxon cuisine was served to us at the highest level. We decided on beef goulash and sauerbraten with handmade dumplings and homemade red cabbage. The cook knew how to impress with her craftsmanship and attention to detail! You could taste that the preparation was fresh and that everything hadn't been simmering for hours. Delicious schnitzel, excellent service and a beautiful location in the old city. We sat on a cool indoor terrace. Fortunately, not a difficult menu, but a simple 10 main courses.

It's rare to find completely homemade food. I can only recommend this address and is my secret tip for good home cooking. You sit in a cozy ambience of the historic Kügelgenhaus. Great service and really great staff. Even the chefs passed the table with a smile. I like to come here for dinner.

We sat beautifully in the “beer garden” on a sunny Saturday afternoon. The service was very friendly and always took care of our needs with a smile. The food was delicious and sufficient. We spent the first evening of our short visit to Dresden in the Kügelgenhaus restaurant. The food was very good, my husband's onion allergy was taken into account. Ms. Lydia Döhner took care of our wishes attentively and very charmingly. Overall, a very nice start to our vacation. We recommend.
