First of all I would like to say that the food was good. However, the restaurant did make me excited on my last day of vacation. Because - they ONLY accepted cash. To my surprise, this is only noted in small print on the menu. No major sign at the entrances. Not at the main entrance and not at the back entrance. Before ordering, the waitress didn't say that this was the case. That's what you might expect. In Corona times, contactless payment should be standard or I don't know of any good restaurants where this is NOT possible. You simply missed it during the 1 1/2 year Corona break until after the 3rd wave of infection. Instead, the information that I'm not the first person he's sent to the ATM and points his index finger towards the beach. Now, after eating, I had to leave my wife alone and walk straight to the beach (approx. 150-200 m). Find the ATM there to collect cash. This is the first time since I can remember that I made a conscious decision not to tip. This is simply bad service, especially since there are simple and inexpensive options for cashless payments. To my surprise, even after leaving the restaurant (snack bar?), I discovered that there was an EC machine about 20 meters away next to the main entrance on Strandstrasse. That's when I got really annoyed. Conclusion: Food OK, service bad. I'll eat out in Binz or Sellin again in the future.

It's cold outside, we're hungry, we want to warm up and there's the smell of smoked fish. So off to the stylishly furnished restaurant. It was very busy and we got a nice table. Without asking, paper and pencils arrived for our children to paint with. The menu is very appealing and we tried here and there. The food came very quickly, was visually appealing and, above all, tasted very good. The prices are absolutely reasonable and we were more than satisfied. Many thanks to the whole team and all the best.

Were here today as a family: 1) get a place straight away 2) Service was nice and quick 3) Prices reasonable - large portions 4) Food was delicious 😋 It was worth it and definitely recommended.

The food was good, but the service when paying spoiled the positive impression. I wanted to pay with a card and leave a tip, but was told that tips only go to the cooks and the boss. Afterwards I was asked again about tipping in cash and an unnecessary discussion arose about what would happen if the internet didn't work and card payments weren't possible... The whole thing left me feeling uncomfortable. Tipping is a voluntary gesture of appreciation - not a must and certainly not a topic for discussion. Either card payments including tips should be possible - as has long been the case in many restaurants - or the staff should handle the situation more professionally and not put guests under pressure. Maybe I was just unlucky with the waiter that day, but it was definitely my last visit there.

We bought fish sandwiches to take away, so I can't rate the ambience. But they were the best and are FRESHLY prepared, eaten one right outside, DELICIOUS!!! The fish items in the counter also looked great. We will stock up on provisions for the journey home from you. THANKS !

We had the pleasure of being guests in this rustic restaurant for the first time. Even if we didn't choose the optimal time (Boxing Day around 12:00 p.m.) because at that time many seniors who had arrived by bus and train (Racing Roland) were pursuing the same interests. Luckily, this horror (like a plague of locusts) was over quickly and we were able to enjoy the advertised fish soup with delicious regional beer (amber wheat). There was a choice of white and red fish soup, which we shared between the two of us. The question of which of the two culinary masterpieces will be ordered again on the next visit can be easily answered: BOTH! However, if I had the choice, the red fish soup would definitely be my favorite! Now to the main course. The offer of the day was the fillet of swordfish (marlin) with fried potatoes, braised vegetables and a side salad. The fried potatoes and everything else on the plate were very tasty. But the marlin with its firm, finely structured, low-fat meat and mild aroma was simply excellent. My dear wife had the cold smoked salmon, beautifully served on (freshly baked bread) with the usual side salad. Here too, an absolute feast for the palate! The great smoked taste lingers in your mouth for a while, which is less the case with hot smoked salmon. Short conclusion, it wasn't the last time we were here and we definitely recommend this rustic, authentic restaurant without any fancy.

Yes, we can highly recommend the restaurant. Great fish dishes...but like everywhere else on the coast, a bit pricey.

High quality food. Bought smoked fish. The smoked rollmops was awesome. Definitely try it. Decent size but very tasty. Although it is just as expensive as a piece of halibut of the same weight €7.40. Payment possible with credit card.

You can really only say good things here: the staff is very friendly and you will be recognized the second time around and asked for suitable drinks - great! - the location is suitably furnished with plenty of space and, most importantly, the food is very good. Had cod fillet and gurnard, really tasty. Plus a good selection of beer, what more could you want. Reservations are not made, so be there at the right time.

Nice restaurant and great selection - there's also something for those who don't like fish. The “certain sense of humor” from the staff is entertaining and rounds off the stay. We will definitely be there again on our next Rügen holiday ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ completely deserved!

Quaint restaurant with a nice ambience. The service was very friendly and quick. During a short stop I only ate white fish soup and drank a sea buckthorn rog. They were very tasty 😋.

Smokehouse with restaurant - you can take smoked fish and fish rolls with you or sit comfortably in the warm room. We had herring fillet in different variations - highly recommended - the service was quick and super friendly - we will be back

It was great back then. Both the food, the ambience and the service. And none of it has been lost over time. The ambience is harmonious and the service is top! The restaurant offers enough space for a large number of guests. Since it will be very busy, especially in the evening, it's best to get there early to be able to get a spot. (Especially during peak travel times) We ordered a fish soup (red) And a fish platter for two people. The ingredients of the soup were perfectly matched and tasted very delicious. The fish platter (for 2 people) was also terrific. She had enough selection of fish and good side dishes. The quantity was also more than enough for two people. We were even able to take the rest with us and eat it at home later. The price is fair and good for the quality you get. Definitely worth recommending if you are in Göhren. (Photos to follow)

Down-to-earth cuisine, service with heart. Simple atmosphere, but very tasty food. Some of the fish can also be bought at the counter to take away from home.

We went to the smokehouse to eat twice and ate the cod, the fish platter, the fried herring, the herring plate and the fish soups. Everything was served in great quality. Presentation and taste were excellent. Despite the rush during the New Year's Day, the team kept an overview and calm. We can fully recommend the smokehouse and would be happy to come back.

What can I say...this restaurant is unique and a must for us when we are on vacation in Göhren. The food is excellent, everything we have eaten so far. You simply have to try the fish burgers with the potato salad. Price performance 1 with asterisk. Now to the service and the team. Great people with a sense of humor and always quick and friendly. We really had fun and spent another cozy evening there. We'll definitely be back. Please keep it up!!!! ....I'm ordering sea buckthorn herbs for adults again😄

A paradise for fish lovers. Cozy guest rooms, tastefully decorated and very nice staff. A very extensive range of food and drinks. The quality is excellent, we were there several times and were able to enjoy the award-winning red fish soup, the fish platter and the delicious wild garlic herring rolls. In terms of price, everything is okay, top quality is served with great friendliness. Always happy again 👍🏻

Every visit to Rügen is an opportunity to go to Göhren to fish. Delicious fish soup, appetizers of herring and other expertly smoked fish on site. Finally, zander or sea bass as the main dish. Minimal breading allows you to enjoy the taste. Perfect! Let's add the atmosphere of a Baltic restaurant and professional service - if you're lucky, you'll talk in Polish. During the season, it is worth booking a table - there is no shortage of people willing to take this place. 5 stars and an announcement of the next visit.

A small, fine, inconspicuous fish smokehouse that you often drive past quickly, which would be a shame if you are looking for quality and are hungry, or are just looking for fish to take home. You will experience excellent cuisine and great service shortly after entering. I entered by chance and was immediately impressed by the atmosphere. The herring stew with a great dressing, the fried potatoes on point. The great thing was that I could take their fish with me to Kassel in three days, freshly prepared and packaged. Absolutely recommended with 3 ✨️ out of 3. Thanks for the great service. By the way, also for people who don't like fish.

We bought fish sandwiches and smoked fish. The staff is very friendly and the food we bought was very tasty. The rolls were really thick, great. The atmosphere is rustic and nice, the toilets are a bit cramped, but clean. We would be happy to come back the next time we visit the island.

We wanted to try the award-winning fish soup. This was also very tasty, especially the red version. The only thing that wasn't needed was the toasted, somewhat stale bun. Gladly again!

Very tasty fish specialties (and other things too, of course) for every taste and hunger. Störtebecker draft beer, pleasant, rustic atmosphere and very friendly service. You can't miss it from the train station, the smell of incense shows the way... A real highlight in Göhren.

You have been a guest at the smokehouse twice a year (spring/autumn) for 7 years now. As soon as you arrive, we go here to eat. A must for us, 1A and only recommended. Ps for insiders, you can now even drink Vodka Cola. Thanks Roman💪

Also close to the Göhren train station, you can smell the smell of freshly smoked fish in the early hours of the morning. In this rustically furnished restaurant we were also served excellently with freshly prepared, tasty fish dishes. This time too we were lucky to get a free table without registering in advance. Absolutely recommended for Göhren holidaymakers. ADDITION: You can of course also buy freshly smoked fish to take away...

We went to this restaurant because of the many good reviews. Friendly welcome, unusual ambience and an inviting menu. When I asked whether the vegetable side dish could be replaced, I received a somewhat snippy answer that they probably wouldn't chop fresh vegetables for me. After 15 years in the catering industry, it is clear to me that not everything is freshly prepared a la minute, but swapping vegetables shouldn't cause any major problems. Or you could simply have answered it a little nicer. :-) Well, I got a cucumber salad instead of the vegetables. I was happy with that, so it wasn't so bad. We both ordered cod, it tasted perfect, the portion was absolutely sufficient, but everything was completely unseasoned. You can add seasoning, but a good piece of fish can tolerate more than just salt and pepper. :-)

We had a great visit to the smokehouse in Göhren! For lunch I had smoked cod and my wife had fresh plaice - both were delicious and perfectly prepared. The cod was smoked wonderfully aromatic and the plaice tasted wonderfully fresh. For dinner we took wild garlic matjes with us, which we also loved. The service was friendly and the cozy atmosphere completed the experience. Absolutely recommended

A good fish restaurant, located directly at Göhren train station. I was served the best fish there on this holiday. The service is rough but warm, joking and the food is served surprisingly quickly. As word has spread about the quality of the place, you may have to wait for a table. Or you can just sit down...
