Unser Lieblingsplatz im Schwarzwald; wir übernachten immer in Durbach, einem wunderschönen Dorf mitten im Wald, und dieses Plateau mit Restaurant und Schloss liegt ganz in der Nähe. Wir kommen mehrmals pro Urlaub hierher, unser absoluter Ruhepol 🙏💖 Fantastische Aussicht! Köstliches Essen, was will man mehr? 👌

Ich habe meinen Geburtstag mit 24 Personen gefeiert: zuerst auf der Terrasse mit Kaffee und (selbst mitgebrachtem) Kuchen, später Sektempfang und kaltes Buffet im schön eingedeckten Glashaus - Blumendeko konnten wir selbst stellen. Der Service war perfekt und so freundlich, dass meine dreijährige Enkeltochter jetzt den Berufswunsch "Bedienung" hat. Die Speisen waren alle sehr gut, dazu das tolle Bauernbrot. Leider blieb viel übrig, aber die Reste gab man uns in Plastikbehältern mit nach Hause. Vielen Dank!

Herzlichern Dank Mathias und Team! Wir feierten die Hochzeit unserer Tochter im Glashaus, da sie diesen Ort schon seit Kindheit liebt. Der Abend selbst wurde mit Mathias hauptsaechlich uebers Telefon geplant da wir vom Ausland angereist sind. Alles hat perfekt geklappt. Nicht nur ist die location unschlagbar, auch Mathias ist professionell, entspannt, hilfreich... einfach super nett. Wir werden diesen Abend immer in besonderer Erinnerung halten und bestimmt noch viele Male dahin zurueckkehren :) Es war wunderschoen.

Perfektes Ambiente, sehr nettes Personal und einfach traumhaftes Essen. Empfehlenswert für jeden der Kultur und Qualität schätzt.

Ich durfte als Rednerin eine freie Trauung begleiten. Definitiv bekommt die Location 5 Sterne. Ich kann zu 100% sagen: es war einfach super. Sehr freundliches Personal, der Chef total unkompliziert und sehr freundlich. Ohne dass man fragen musste, war für Getränke, Sonnenschirme (was nicht überall selbstverständlich ist) am Platz der Trauung unter der Burg gesorgt. Wer eine Freie Trauung mit besonderem Ambiente feiern möchte, ist hier bestens aufgehoben. DANKE liebes Burg-Team...

Ein Besuch der Burgaußenansicht bei strahlendem Sonnenschein mit einer kurzen Pause. Das Essen war bereits vorbereitet, und auf der Terrasse waren schon Plätze gedeckt. Wir wurden von einem sehr freundlichen, jungen und kompetenten Mitarbeiter bedient.

Wir waren mit unseren Pferden zum einkehren dort - super freundliches, hilfsbereites Personal und das Essen war auch noch mega lecker 😍

Wir haben dort die Hochzeit meiner Tochter gefeiert. Eine friedliche Lage, wunderschöne Natur, ein herrlicher Spaziergang um die Burgruine und ein fantastisches Gasthaus. Ich kann es wärmstens empfehlen!

Unsere Wünsche bezüglich des Caterings wurden perfekt umgesetzt, und alles wurde mit so viel Liebe zum Detail und Professionalität organisiert, dass wir diesen Ort für Ihre Feier wärmstens empfehlen können. Hier kommt alles zusammen. Super Ambiente und gutes Essen.

Essenaqualität lässt leider zu wünschen übrig. Preislich ok, aber leider die Portionen dafür etwas klein, Kaffeetässchen triffts gut, Kuchen teilweise sehr trocken. Sehr enttäuscht, leider keine Empfehlung :(

Ich habe meinen 40. Geburtstag mit circa 50 Personen im Glashaus gefeiert und war sehr zufrieden. Das Essen war sehr lecker, der Service sehr nett und das Ambiente wunderschön. Wir haben auf der Terrasse einen Empfang gemacht mit Getränke der Wahl, Vorspeisenbuffet mit Salaten und Grillgemüse. Zum Hauptgang gab es verschiedene Pinsen. Das Dessert in Gläschen durften wir selbst mitbringen. Den Saal hat uns Matthias so gestellt, wie wir es mit den Tischen, Loungemöbeln und Stehtischen wollten. Bei der Deko waren wir auch ganz frei. Die Absprachen waren sehr unkompliziert. Jederzeit wieder.

Heute bei euch zu Zweit zu Abend gegessen. Wir kamen ursprünglich für Drohnenaufnahmen der Burgruine und sind sehr positiv überrascht vom Ambiente der Terrasse und des Ausblicks. Das Essen war sehr gut, ebenso der Service. Wir kommen wieder, herzlichen Dank.

Wir sind immer sehr gerne hier oben im Penthouse von Oberkirch. Das ganze Team ist immer topmotiviert und man merkt dass sie Spaß daran haben, die Gäste zufrieden zu stellen. Hab deshalb meinen Runden Geburtstag jetzt auch im Pavillon mit 42 Gästen gefeiert. Alles war Top. Matze und Team - vielen Dank für den tollen Abend 🥰

Wir haben im Glashaus einen runden Geburtstag mit 30 Personen gefeiert. Tolles Ambiente, gutes Essen, guter Service, Sektempfang auf der Terrasse mit Feuerschale und traumhaftem Ausblick und sehr freundliche Gastgeber. Absolut empfehlenswert.

Ambiente super aber bitte keine Weihnachtsfeier buchen, Personal total unfreudlich und büffet bei einer Weihnachtsfeier von 23 Personen gefühlt Essen für 10 Personen und für dieses büffet brauch man auch keinen Koch dafür🫣

Wir haben ohne Reservierung bei schönstem Herbstwetter noch einen Platz bekommen - allerdings drinnen, da auf der Terasse alles ausgebucht war, also ist es eher ratsam zu reservieren. Das Essen war super lecker und der Ausblick unbezahlbar. Der Service war super und das Personal sehr nett. Defintiv einen Ausflug wert mit der Ruine direkt nebenan.

Wir waren hier eingekehrt, um etwas zu essen, und alles hat richtig gut geschmeckt – von den Speisen bis zum alkoholfreien Wein. Besonders schön war die liebe Geburtstagsüberraschung, die den Besuch noch persönlicher gemacht hat. Die Atmosphäre auf der Burg ist einzigartig, gemütlich und einladend, und das Team ist freundlich und aufmerksam. Wer Lust auf gutes Essen, tolle Getränke und ein besonderes Ambiente hat, sollte hier unbedingt vorbeischauen. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!

In August 2025, I was visiting home again, and my 97-year-old grandmother wanted to have dinner with me "outside in a picturesque setting" on a warm summer evening. While searching for a suitable venue, I happened upon Schauenburg Castle, where a musical castle night was taking place that Friday evening. Because I couldn't rely on the first-come, first-served principle for table selection due to my grandmother's limited mobility, I had called ahead. The manager, Mr. Seiler, was super friendly and assured me that he would make an exception in this case and reserve a table for both of us. And so it was, and we were very grateful for this exceptional service. Thanks to Mr. Seiler's generosity and the super friendly service team (all the ladies really made a great effort and were always in a good mood despite their busy schedule), we had a wonderful musical summer evening at the castle, which my grandmother still raves about even now in the fall. We'd love to come back! A heartfelt thank you again to Mr. Seiler and his fantastic team for this wonderful experience during our home vacation!

A very nice spot below the Schauenburg! I finally got the long-awaited Black Forest gateau there – and also had a very nice chat with the friendly, humorous host! If you want to see the everyday people sculptures in Oberkirch, you can do so until November 11th.

Fantastic cheese fondue. It easily competes with the one in Switzerland. Thank you very much, we'll be back!

A fantastic location below the castle, the character of the castle restaurant is beautifully captured, and we felt completely at home. The food was delicious and the hosts were very attentive. A fantastic day all around, and the weather was perfect too—what more could you ask for?

We went to the Glashaus today for a private birthday brunch. From the first contact with Mathias Seiler to paying the bill, everything was perfect – unfortunately, there's no way to give it more than 5 stars. My guests (almost 60 people) were also thrilled.

This is an absolute gem in the Black Forest, with wonderful view, surrounded by nature and a place to take a break, as well as to admire the ruins of the Burg Schauenburg, very instagramable spot :) The food is very delicious and meals are cooked with local and regional products. We fell in love with this spot and it became very special to us in time, we always come here when we get the chance. Couldn't recommend it enough!

We celebrated our silver wedding anniversary at the castle. The service was excellent, and the food was superb. The champagne reception with the view of Oberkirch was incredibly beautiful. We particularly appreciate the organization beforehand with Mathias Seiler, and we also greatly appreciated his wife's support with the decor. It was a wonderful party with a DJ playing until the early hours. Thank you for making our celebration an unforgettable evening.

We stopped here as part of the culinary wine hike offered by Renchtal Tourism. The hike includes a 4-course menu with wine pairing (price €65). Each course is served at a different restaurant. We enjoyed the main course here on the beautiful terrace at the foot of Schauenburg Castle. Since the appetizer and entrée at the first two restaurants were promising, we were looking forward to the main course after the longest and steepest stretch of the tour. Unfortunately, even the white wine served was a disappointment, as it was served at room temperature. Some guests who complained were served ice cubes. The meal, unfortunately, resembled unloving cafeteria fare. Dried poultry (not seared, but apparently steamed) swam in a thin mushroom cream sauce, which, while quite tasty, was more reminiscent of a soup. We also served spaetzle. No salad, no vegetables, and no decoration other than a cocktail tomato placed in the center. For the total price of the menu, you'd expect better.

A small, idyllic insider tip with a great atmosphere and delicious food at a good price-performance ratio.

An absolutely charming place. The food is good, the setting is splendid. The staff is very attentive. There's a play area for children. A basket with skincare products in the restrooms. Really nothing to complain about, it's a place that has everything going for it. We'll be back.

Delicious Black Forest gateau. You sit directly beneath the Schauenburg ruins. A fantastic view of the vineyards. On a clear day, you can even see the Vosges Mountains in France. Friendly service.

Visited on 5/8/25 A must visit! We stumbled across this restaurant by accident while looking for somewhere to stop with our camper for our last night on a two week Europe trip and it ended our trip perfectly. Be prepared to walk up a bit of a hill for a few minutes because the parking isn't directly outside the venue. Don't forget to get a free picture from the talking machine just outside the restaurant with a view of the castle behind! The service was impeccable, the views were stunning, we had a wander around the castle ruins post dinner and the food was delicious. What more could you want? I had the käsespätzle and my partner had the schnitzel and both were amazing. As a vegetarian I've struggled to find local and traditional food to try while travelling but this was an excellent traditional dish to try for the veggies! A dream wedding – highly recommended! We celebrated our wedding this summer at the Schauenburg event catering company in Oberkirch – and it was simply dreamy! The Schauenburg team provided us with active support right from the planning stage. All our wishes were taken into account, and the professional support made the entire preparation process completely stress-free – which is truly worth its weight in gold when planning a wedding! On the wedding day itself, everything was perfect: delicious food, great music, attentive service – and, to top it all off, this beautiful venue! Schauenburg is in a dream location, with a fantastic view of the castle ruins and the valley below. Our guests were just as thrilled as we were, and we felt completely at home the entire day. A huge thank you to the entire team – you made our day something truly special! We can absolutely recommend Schauenburg as a wedding venue.

The Castle in Oberkirch - A Delight for All the Senses I recently had the pleasure of visiting the restaurant "Die Burg" in Oberkirch, and it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The service was excellent – ​​the staff were friendly, attentive, and always keen to make our visit as pleasant as possible. The value for money is truly remarkable. The quality of the food is outstanding, and the portions are generous. Particularly impressive is the selection of regional and seasonal dishes, prepared with great attention to detail. Another highlight is the breathtaking view from the terrace. It's the perfect place to relax with a good meal and admire the beautiful surroundings. In addition to the great atmosphere and excellent food, "Die Burg" also offers a cozy interior that invites you to linger. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in Oberkirch or the surrounding area looking for a special culinary experience. Overall, a wonderful place that I would love to visit again!

In short, there's nothing negative to report. We chose the restaurant as the location for our wedding and were more than satisfied in every respect. Our every request was taken care of, and we always felt well looked after and advised. Not only did we have our dream wedding, but our guests were also truly thrilled. We'll definitely be back for dinner one or two more times, as the price and quality are just right. Highly recommended in every respect!

I was surprised by the quality of the food. Everything was truly delicious and flavorfully balanced – something I hadn't expected when we arrived. The atmosphere beneath the castle ruins is unique, and the view of the Black Forest is beautiful. Highly recommended as a place for dinner, but also as a stopover on a hike.

A particularly hostile and brazen welcome from a young waitress because the two of us sat down at a table for a drink, even though more than half the terrace was unoccupied. As a reminder, I was a very regular customer and the welcome was very warm. You can now move on. There are many much nicer restaurants in the Black Forest.

Absolutely unfriendly. My grandma was turned away and left standing in the blazing sun. She wasn't even offered a seat in the shade. They said she hadn't reserved a table, even though there were several free spots.

We celebrated our wedding ceremony and champagne reception at the castle in early May 2025. The initial consultation was very relaxed, and our wishes were taken into account. The location and view are absolutely beautiful! The service during the champagne reception went smoothly; we were even able to bring our own snacks. It was an unforgettable day for us. Restaurant just below the castle ruins. The terrace offers a superb view, the setting is splendid. There was even an orchestra playing on Ascension Thursday. Friendly waitress. Drink prices are reasonable (€5.50 for 50cl of beer), but the menu prices are a little higher.

We celebrated our son's baptism in this location. From the first inquiry to the end of the celebration, we received extremely professional, friendly and personal support. The location is really splendid. It’s a great place to spend an afternoon. The restaurant r has a great kids playground—swings and lots of toys to sit in the sand. The food is good though rather expensive. I wasn’t too impressed with the spatzel though the breaded pork was very good. It’s still a great stop for a beer and a hike.

Still this system of unoccupied reserved tables. Surprising to have several couples and single people consume on the wooden floor of the terrace, raised I grant you, when they could humanly sit on chairs. “Reserviert, reserviert, reserviert” only the waiter tells us. We naturally moved on and, like others I hope, consumed in the town further down. The only positive thing about this in law is the proximity to the ruined castle.

When my dad came to visit we took him up here to give him a taste of Schwarzwald. We had a great time and he still talks about it.

For Sunday brunch...very nice place, delicious and plentiful cold/warm buffet, very friendly and attentive service, pleasant atmosphere as only a maximum of 35 people can be seated...small playground on site and stretch your legs on the castle ruins with a wonderful view the Vosges. 😊

We booked at this restaurant to break up a short hike. He was right in the middle. And we did well. The meal was very good and the service too. Nothing to complain about. Just that the weather did not allow us to appreciate the landscape at its true value. Just a little too expensive for what it was.

The food was good, the only thing that bothered me was that no small salad was served with the schnitzel. It doesn't cost you €1-2 and makes the dish complete. We found the portion of the lime skewer to be very small for just under €20, 2 skewers and 2 portions of rice would have been ok. Still tipped, lived and let live. They come from Rhineland-Palatinate, and here the small salad with the schnitzel is “free”.

You shouldn't expect much from the castle since it is a ruin. The view makes up for a lot.

Very nice beer garden. The waitresses were all super friendly and we all enjoyed the food. I had the schnitzel with fries and was a bit skeptical in advance because some reviewers criticized it as being inedible. The opposite is the case: The two schnitzels were tender and juicy. The fries (large cut ones) were crispy and, if desired, there was a delicious gravy with them. Well, that costs a hefty €19, but at least you get something reasonable. And where else is it cheap today? The salads were also received with great enthusiasm by my companions. Apparently the fried potatoes with Bibiliskäs are also a highlight. The tarte flambée was sprinkled with a hearty cheese. Also a tip. I will go there again!

Super unfriendly... would have liked to eat something but well you were sent away... hungry and thirsty four plus child. Very disappointing when you walk all the way up and then get told off in a flippant tone. No, nothing is free inside and outside... Oh no, you can't dry it out. What is that, especially when we saw her doing it for other guests in the beer garden... while we were standing next to it :(? If I did my job like that... there's no need to say anything more. It's not possible and that was us last time here. We even offered to do the drying ourselves. So not recommended if you're looking for friendliness and warmth.

Were rejected very rudely. There were five of us and we were all hungry and thirsty. It was 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. ...if you don't want to do any work at lunchtime...you can't write kitchen all the time :/

Food was ok, not outstanding but ok. Prices are juicy. And you pay extra for everything. 20 € for a small schnitzel with salad and then 1.90 for the sauce. You can decide for yourself whether that's within your limits. At least you could go to the toilet without paying extra. Great 👍🏼

You should definitely combine the restaurant with a visit to the castle. When the weather is good, you can sit outside and look far into the landscape. A great atmosphere. Lovingly designed environment. We didn't taste any food. Parking spaces are limited directly at the restaurant. From the lower parking lots there is a steep stretch of tarred road to climb on foot. Not recommended with restrictions.

Very nice setting at the foot of the castle. It's great. Really so good for the service.... The establishments in the Black Forest have accustomed me to much better.... Tables supposedly reserved, but not used during the 90 minutes we were on site. Drink service quite fast, but more than 40 minutes of waiting for an extra portion of fries, despite numerous reminders... it's frankly excessive...

Everything is just right here, keep it up! We celebrated our wedding in the castle's glass house and had a brilliant party. The food was incredibly good (the meat was cooked to perfection, which is what you have to do for so many people at the same time. And we weren't the only guests). Very friendly waitresses. Planning with Matthias was fun, super relaxed. We were completely satisfied. The price/performance ratio is also right. We can recommend it to everyone. Top!

You can easily combine a visit to the castle with a visit to the restaurant located here. Despite the bad weather, we had a dry place on the terrace and were able to enjoy delicious food. It was really very nice. And there are also creative “place settings” to discover on the menu (the hangman’s meal to match the castle).
