Interesting Bavarian restaurant with unusually large portions. In summer there is a small guest garden in the alley in front of the restaurant and in the inner courtyard.

The atmosphere is really very nice! Totally rustic furnishings and very comfortable. Every day a certain dish is cheaper. I had the spare ribs with fries for just €11.90. Were very tasty 😋. The service was also very nice and extremely competent.

Four of us came here with friends and were extremely satisfied. The service was very friendly and attentive. The drinks came in a short time and we didn't have to wait long for the food either... The portions were large enough, of very good quality and really tasty. For dessert there was the Salzburg dumplings - a real feast for the eyes... They were also good - but I would order the Kaiserschmarrn next time... Attention! The portion is very large! The four of us ate the dumplings because we were already full...

Eine Reservierung für eine größere Gruppe 3 Wochen vorher persönlich (in Begleitung/Zeugen) im Restaurant für einen Freitag! im Januar bestellt. Happy, dass alles unter Dach und Fach ist. Am Donnerstag vor dem vermeintlichen Termin erhalte ich einen unbekannten Anruf auf dem Handy, den ich nicht annehmen kann, ohne Nachricht auf der Mailbox. Ich rufe zurück. „Ja, Sie haben für heute eine Reservierung für soundsoviel Personen bei uns.“ Ich falle aus allen Wolken. Es wird behauptet, „bei uns passieren keine Fehler“, für den Freitag gibt es für die Größenordnung natürlich keine Vakanzen. Die Gruppe trifft sich nur freitags. Unverfrorene Arroganz und ohne Entschuldigung! Der Laden ist für mich gestorben.

The food is really great and the staff is very nice, attentive and quick. Quite a nice atmosphere. The price is actually right. Except for the double espresso, which would taste ok if it weren't a bit thin. And wouldn't it cost 6(!!!) euros! I could have seen it on the map, I know. But you don't expect that. Unfortunately, one star less than perfect. Without that it would definitely be 5 stars.

Four nights over Christmas Those were a few really nice days, food was great, staff was super nice and fast. Rooms were amazing, ancient and really comfortable, you can feel the history. All I can say is recommended Greetings Marion and Thomas We'd love to come back in the summer

After eating so many Wiener Schnitzel, Dicker Mann is undoubtedly the first. The fried steak is tightly attached to the steak and will not peel off due to cutting. The taste is not greasy, and the portion of three pieces is nearly 400g. It is not too heavy. It’s greasy. Many restaurants can’t do just the above-mentioned fried coating without oil. The potato salad is very sour and delicious when paired with the steak, but I personally think it’s too sour. It would be more delicious if there was more sugar to enhance the freshness. The shrimps The amount of pasta vegetables is very large, the noodles are black and green, and there are five large shrimps. The seasoning is not inferior to that of an upper-middle-class Italian restaurant. In addition, it is worth mentioning that the waiters are friendly and enthusiastic to all guests. English If you have any communication problems, you can ask for an English menu. Highly recommended!

...the “Original Wiener Schnitzel” was unfortunately one of the worst I have eaten so far for just under 25 euros. The meat is too thick - and the breading is a mixture of mush and fat. It's a shame - please work on it urgently!

Nice atmosphere, the rest was unfortunately rather average. Unfortunately, the coleslaw that came as a side dish was not fresh, but from a preserving jar. Unfortunately, the main course wasn't great either. Nevertheless, the menu was ok for €10. After we paid and the tip was obviously not enough, there was a wordless farewell.

Instead of 100.8 euros, 1008 euros were charged from the card. Luckily I had to enter the PIN. No apology or response from the waitress. The beer was stale.

Absolute recommendation if you love delicious Austrian and Bavarian dishes. The onion roast is a dream. I always have to force myself not to order it and try something new. Fish fried absolutely perfectly until translucent every time we've been there. The staff is the friendliest and most helpful that I have met in Regensburg so far.

We were hotel guests for one night and we really enjoyed it. The location is brilliant, the service is super friendly and the room is super authentic. We also loved that breakfast was served in the restaurant. We'll be back in the summer, then we'll stay longer and eat in the restaurant in the evening.

You definitely have to go! The food and especially the Salzburger Nockerl are simply sensational. The staff was super friendly and we really liked the rustic atmosphere. It's better to reserve in the evening.

Unfortunately I saw the reviews of the grill plate too late. This contained: 1 Nuremberg grilled sausage, 3.5 small pieces of unseasoned pork fillet and 5-6 beans wrapped in a slice of bacon. Plus a huge amount of fries and a side salad. Given that it was one of the most expensive dishes on the menu, I had imagined fewer fries and significantly more beans and possibly meat. That just made it bland. Unfortunately, my companion's Wiener Schnitzel was not tender and prepared carelessly. Not a recommendation, although it was actually comfortable there.

My spaetzle was very tasty, my parents both had roast pork with dumplings and brown sauce. However, they complained that the sauce was tasteless and the dumplings weren't particularly good either. The food was rather disappointing for my parents.

Food wasn't convincing at all. Price - portion, you have to say, is unfortunately not very suitable. I've never gone home hungry after a Bavarian/German restaurant, but I did here. Went there with a Spanish visitor and unfortunately everyone was disappointed with the taste. The place itself is really nice. What was just annoying was that people smoked at the tables “outside” but right at the entrance and all the smoke moved inside and it was really annoying while eating.

The food was very good, the breakfast plate was sufficiently filled and garnished with love. The hotel room was very clean and very comfortable. Despite the central location it is also very quiet. If I visit Regensburg again, the "fat man" will definitely be a stop. Dear restaurant/hotel team, keep it up.

I've been there several times and it was always on the weekend and everything was great. This time we were during the week. Three of us ate the Wiener Schnitzel, one ate fish and the fifth in the group ate the onion roast. Normally you are happy when the food is served quickly. However, the schnitzels came a little too quickly even though we hadn't pre-ordered. It definitely tasted reheated and not freshly made. You could clearly tell by the taste, the temperature and the breading. The onion roast and the fish arrived in a reasonable time and, according to the guests, were fresh and very good.

We came full of anticipation... as people were talking about the restaurant on every corner... Were received very nicely by the service staff. We were given a sweet place. A very diverse selection of dishes that sounded very tasty. We ordered the meat planters and the grill plate. At first glance the food looked fantastic but unfortunately it was a complete failure... The grill plate turned out to be a plate of fries peppered with small pieces of meat. Unfortunately, this is my first poor review.... The grill plate for 28 euros is a rip off of the customer!!!!!!! This is absolutely not recommended. I definitely advise everyone to ask the service which dishes are recommended. Unfortunately, I left the fat man hungry because I didn't feel like eating the whole portion of fries for the price. In this case, the fat man unfortunately looks very, very thin..... I'll put the picture of the portion here so that more people don't get ripped off, literally. With this in mind, please do it smartly, dear restaurateur and head of the house.

Worst onion roast ever. When the plate came, all I saw at first was fried onions with a bit of potatoes. Half the plate was actually full of onion. When I was looking for my meat, I found a very small piece of meat (100g). They actually charged almost €30 for this.

We had a lovely meeting of old colleagues and friends at the 'Dicken Mann'. The restaurant is centrally located in Regensburg and has been known for many years. You feel comfortable in the rustic atmosphere. Service is good. My friends' food made a very good impression and tasted good too. I ordered an onion roast (€29.90). A large plate with an oversized portion of fried onions and a manageable piece of meat. Alc-free wheat beer was just out. So if you go, make the right choice in the menu!

Das Lokal ist unter Österreichischer Führung und hat Österreichische Küche. Da ich die Österreichische Küche von erster Hand kenne, darf ich sagen, daß diese Kneipe nichts mit Österreichischen Spezialitäten zu tun hat. Suppe: Kaspressknödelsuppe, warlich ein toller Genuss, aber was hier serviert wurde spottet jeder Beschreibung..Suppe mit 50 % Wasser gestreckt, Knödel waren zwar Pressknödel, nur leider ohne Kas. Rinder carpoccio, fertig bei Metro, aufgetaut und mit Balsamicocreme beladen. Das schlimmste allerdings war das Backhendl. Ein Backhendl besteht aus ausgelösten Teilen vom Huhn, Paniert und gebacken, es ist noch die Leber vom Hendl dabei. Hier wurde ein halbes Hendl paniert und fritiert. Auf Anfrage wurde uns bestätigt, dass der Koch ein Lehrling ist, der absolut zu bedauern ist. Es scheint als mache die Geschäftsführung unter allen Umständen Umsatz, wie auch immer. Wer allerdings für sein Geld ( 3Personen , Suppe, Hauptgericht und drei Getränke ) 120 € wirklich gut essen möchte, sollte diese Kneipe meiden. Diese Tatsache verdeutlicht die grausamen Zustände in der Gastro, es gab Zeiten, da konnte man wirklich sehr gut essen in diesem Lokal.

Super quaint restaurant with good food. Bavarian-Austrian delicacies, hmmm! At first we only got a seat inside, but we were able to have dessert - Salzburger Nockerl!!!! - easily move outside into the warm summer evening. The employees were all very friendly and accommodating, and the food was consistently good. The only tiny note: more seat cushions would make sitting even more comfortable.

We were there on September 9th, 2024 to eat Kaiserschmarn. The super nice waitress recommended that we just eat a little something before the Kaiserschmarn. No sooner said than done. The two of us shared both the cheese plate and the Kaiserschmarn. Both really tip top. 👍 We have rarely been so enthusiastic about simple food. Tasteful and inexpensive. We would definitely recommend. The leftover Kaiserschmarn was still tasty the next day.
