Worst service I’ve ever experienced in a restaurant, hands down. First, I had to hunt down a waiter as there was none around. Then, I told a waiter my order and he asked for my table number, but I said I was going to sit on the other side of the restaurant so I didn’t know the number yet, That’s when he honest to goodness shrugged and gave a little laugh. That behavior was so weird, it was like I was talking to a child who was saying “not my problem”. Then, I said “shall we go to the other side of the restaurant to see the table number”, and he followed me (I was the one who had to suggest that). I chose a table and was under the impression he had already placed my order. 20 minutes passed and nothing. I asked another waitress nearby to check on my order and some time later the waiter finally shows up to tell me he doesn’t have my order down. He never bothered to write it down! And I only found out about it because I asked, otherwise I could have waited there for way longer and wasted my afternoon. At this point, I had to leave to catch the next tram or I’d ruin my plans for the day, so I went hungry until the evening. I seriously recommend people skip this one and have lunch in town!

The climb is worth it! People from all over the world visit Drachenfels.

We were visiting family and stopped for lunch. Everything was delicious, and the portions were quite generous. We ordered bratwurst with sweet potatoes, kibble, and flambé cake. The passion fruit schorle was very good. They also have sweet desserts like waffles and cakes.

The food was perfectly fine. The service was very friendly. The view from up here is sensational. The prices are okay! You can order at your table or via QR code. You can also pay for your chosen items directly, for example, with PayPal.

I took the train up and got off there but didn't go to the restaurant, but everything looked well organized. I think I can recommend it.

Great day-trip restaurant. What do you expect? Not beetroot carpaccio with horseradish foam! Great salad, good currywurst. The kibbelinge are a must, and the remoulade is so delicious and homemade! The service is so top-notch, you don't even need the QR code. (We saw the cake and the coffee specialties, and everything looked great 🤗)

The restaurant was very good, with simple but good food and very fast service. We ordered using a QR code.

The prices are a bit high, but you have to bring everything up the mountain. Service is quick and friendly, drinks are cold, and you definitely shouldn't miss the waffles with whipped cream and cinnamon ice cream! The ice cream parlor with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. Delicious!

Three of us were on the terrace and wanted something to eat. After an hour, when no one had come to our table, we left. The restaurant isn't responsible for the completely unsuccessful redesign of the Drachenfels plateau, in my opinion, but they are certainly responsible for the disastrous service!

It's great that you can pause at this vantage point for additional enjoyment. Everything was clean and tidy. We had coffee and a pretzel 🥨 from the self-service area, both good. Unfortunately, the regular coffee wasn't available, and we pointed this out. The reaction was unfortunately somewhat ignorant, but the young girl behind the counter was perhaps too young to handle such a thing. We ordered a different coffee and asked again if she could take care of it for our second coffee. We assume she did.

Nice place on top of the Drachenfels!

Those baked potatoes and salad were really delicious. They were steamed potatoes rather than baked potatoes, but they were delicious and mild. They were perfect with the strong-flavored currywurst. It was the most delicious among the restaurants in the tourist area.

With all due respect and understanding for the restaurant industry, a line is slowly being crossed here! A portion of fries costs €6.50, topped with a small sachet of mayo for €1. If you reorder mayo, you'll be charged an additional €1 for each small sachet. The price is no longer reasonable.

Pleasant atmosphere, with views of the entire valley and the river, a limited yet tailored menu with typical beer garden dishes. I especially want to highlight the service and attentive customer service! Mobile ordering is available, or you can also choose to ask the staff.

We can't rate the food. However, the restrooms are already closed at 6 p.m., even though the train runs until 7 p.m. If you rely on that, it's a shame to leave "man and woman" alone, and even the staff who were still there tell you the same thing.

We had lunch at the restaurant, which was incredibly overpriced. One soft drink is 5.50😬 moreover, we had to pay for going to toilet, which is also a bit weird considering that we had lunch in a restaurant.

I ordered four beers using the QR code on the table in the beer garden, which came to €28 including a tip. Then I discovered via PayPal that the amount had been charged twice. I emailed the restaurant, including proof that the same amount had been charged twice at the same time – no response, no refund! Luckily, PayPal stepped in to help.

Phew. It's well located, and the view is okay. Prices are pretty reasonable for manageable portions. There was only one server present, who wasn't overly friendly, but not unwelcoming either. She's probably really stressed out with so many people at once. The tables are quite large, so they can easily accommodate groups.

Unfortunately, the waitress had a very lackluster demeanor and wasn't particularly friendly. On top of that, the restaurant wasn't really full, and we waited forever to even get served. The food tasted okay, but it was definitely overpriced. The view, though, is quite nice.

The food was overpriced and mediocre. The baked potato and bowl were good, but the kibbeling and lentil stew weren't particularly good (the kibbeling were too soft, the fries were too salty, the lentil stew was too sour, and the portions were too small; my 9-year-old daughter couldn't get enough to eat).

The restaurant was always good. The food and the view are beautiful. Unfortunately, I had a huge problem yesterday. After a 20km route with almost 1,000 meters of elevation gain, my phone's battery was almost at 0%. The only way to order was through a website, and when you click the order button, you don't even know which payment methods are supported. So, unfortunately, I had to continue this time without food and drink, as manual ordering and payment weren't possible.

Truly great view. The service on the day of my visit was friendly, but very overwhelmed despite moderate business. Prices very high.

I had high hopes for Dwe Drachenfels given its stunning location and upscale atmosphere. The restaurant itself looks like it could be a star-level destination, and the view is absolutely breathtaking – definitely a highlight of the visit. Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to the setting. I ordered the Linsensuppe (menu item #1), and it was a real letdown. The presentation was unappetizing, and the taste even worse – bland, unbalanced, and simply not enjoyable. It’s hard to understand how this dish made it to the top of the menu. Service was friendly and fine, no complaints there. I did see a Flammkuchen served to the table nearby, which looked decent, so perhaps there are better options on the menu. Overall, Dwe Drachenfels has great potential, but the kitchen needs serious improvement for the dining experience to match the exceptional location.

Disappointing. I was there two days in a row on the weekend. No service either time, even though the website clearly states that it's open until 7 p.m. + The staff is absolutely unfriendly. Unfortunately, I was completely disappointed.

The restaurant charged me twice and never responded to my chargeback request. So I needed paying twice because their stupid system didn’t work, and we ended up paying double for below average food.

Great place to eat. Everything was great for us - the food was very good; Unfortunately, the elderly people next to us weren't served. Even though they were sitting in the service area, the waiters kept walking past them. They also couldn't order online - it's a shame that this wasn't addressed, and they had to walk to the self-service counter with their walkers.

Great restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere! We enjoyed a cold beer – perfectly tempered and truly refreshing. The ice cubes were clean and high-quality, which further enhanced the positive impression. The service was attentive and friendly. You just feel at home here – highly recommended!

Very disappointing service – never again! Unfortunately, the service was extremely unfriendly. The waiter treated us disrespectfully and even said he wanted to "chase" guests away. Such behavior is completely unacceptable. We left the place immediately. I would not recommend it.

A very pleasant visit to the Drachenfels restaurants. A particularly positive feature is the ability to conveniently order and pay for food and drinks via QR code – it works seamlessly and saves time. The food was very tasty, as were the coffee, cake, and drinks. Everything was fresh and of high quality. The atmosphere was pleasant and the service friendly. Overall, a recommended place for a break while visiting Drachenfels.

Some places close at 5:00 PM, so order in advance. The iced coffee has a little ice and isn't really cold. You can pay by card; you won't be asked for a receipt.

The restaurant's outdoor area is busy. Unfortunately, there are two categories of tables: small stands with QR codes that are served, or "empty" tables where you have to get your own food and drink. Unfortunately, the waiters don't really notice you, and thus, they don't explain how to get to the tables, order, pay, etc. In the end, we simply ordered and paid using a code, which I didn't like; I prefer personal contact in restaurants. During the payment process, you're asked to tip the service, which isn't bad in itself, and I always tip appropriately, but only after I've experienced the service and not in advance. It was a good thing, because the interaction with the two waiters was very blunt and superficial. The food was placed on the table with almost no comment, which is a shame. The food was okay, the fries were still very wet, but as we all know, tastes differ. As it turned out later, cash payment was possible, and a card was also available...some guests were annoyed by these unclear circumstances. Therefore, I strongly recommend that the operator post clear procedures at the tables.

Please update the opening hours on Google. It's incredibly annoying when you've planned to stop at a restaurant during your hike and have to cope without food.

The opening hours listed online are incorrect. Instead of 7 p.m., the restaurant closes at 6 p.m., and the kitchen closes at 5:30 p.m. The staff said this was already known, but management has deliberately ignored it. It seems like they're deliberately trying to attract customers who will spend their money in the shop because they have no other alternatives for drinks or food...

The only positive thing was the view. The restaurant closes at 6 p.m., even though Google says 7 p.m. The waitress had no desire to bring us the menu, let alone come to our table. At 5:30 a.m., the chairs were already being "put up" so no more guests could sit down. €4.30 for a 0.4L water, which was supposedly seltzer. It tasted like tap water, though. A shame, but unfortunately typical when you don't have a direct competitor.

A schnitzel disaster... We both had the schnitzel and will never order it again! The fries tasted like they'd been in the deep fryer for three hours. The schnitzel was definitely not homemade and probably came pre-made from the freezer. A side salad... But even though they were working in hoodies and torn trousers, the young employees were very nice to us! (Maybe next time we'll just get the waffle or go straight to the Winzerhäuschen (see my review).

According to Google, it's open until 7 PM… we arrived at 6:20 PM and couldn't get anything to eat or drink. Not recommended.

It's quite nice and a good menu. It's child-friendly. The restrooms are clean. There's no alternative up there anyway. 😄

The terrace on Drachenfels is truly amazing, with fantastic views, parasols, and everything else. Unfortunately, my meal, schnitzel with fried potatoes, didn't taste very good. The schnitzel seemed like a quickly fried frozen product. I expected more!

The view from up there is breathtaking... It's better to bring your own food, as the restaurant there is far too expensive.

We sat down, waited 30 minutes, no one served us. Terrible place

The view is, of course, very beautiful. The dining room feels more like a cafeteria, with its green plastic tables. The menu is very small. A currywurst with French fries costs 12.80 euros! A bag of mayo costs extra. I think it was 1 euro? The menu says "with homemade curry sauce." That means cheap ketchup (too little) with little curry powder. The sausage isn't particularly good quality. Do yourself a favor and eat at the restaurants halfway up the summit. There, the selection is much wider and it costs about half as much.

Incredibly great location with a large sun terrace with a view of the Rhine near Bad Honnef and Drachenstein Castle. Highly recommended for a cool drink and a snack after the climb. Price was okay.

The operation at the cash register in the outdoor restaurant is either slow and precise, or fast, and then I think you can let something slip, but it's questionable if both don't work. The table servers were very nice and accommodating.

I came with my family for lunch during our visit to Drachenburg Castle. Although we found the service slow, the restaurant was very busy and the food was very tasty. We really enjoyed it! Plus, the view is indescribable!!

The restaurant upstairs has absolutely unfriendly staff when paying. The money was simply thrown on the table, the table was dirty, the seat, an absolute nightmare never again!

Great place to eat and enjoy the view. Very nice service. You can even order yourself using your cell phone and have your things brought to your table quickly. The food was very tasty, had soup and waffles. The price was fine and reasonable. Worth a trip, thumbs up.

I celebrated my birthday here 4 weeks ago. To say it was a perfect evening is definitely an understatement. In addition to the outstanding support from Emilia Correia Neumann, whom I warmly, urgently and enthusiastically recommend, the restaurant was convincing across the board. The food (buffet) was sensational, the service was loving, unobtrusive and yet attentive, and the ambience was great all around. A photo box also provided funny and unforgettable impressions. My guests still write to me today saying what a beautiful and memorable evening they had.

I was with them on Saturday. Our waitress was very nice and the food was OK. I'm just wondering how they can employ such an unfriendly waiter, the way they treat the other employees is very questionable. Especially today, in the tense personnel situation, you should think about whether you want to do this to your other employees.

For a busy top tourist attraction there is a good selection of tasty food served quickly and attentively.

A fantastic view. It's incredibly inconspicuous and only takes about 8-9 minutes to get there on the cog railway. Very surprisingly, you will be amazed by the view. Wonderful colorful leaves and the vastness of the Ruhr area can be revealed. The castle itself is quite unspectacular and only very poorly preserved, but it's worth it!

Inside you can only order using a QR code and sit in a fairly cool room. Little atmosphere. The food is slightly overpriced, but this is due to the location and is therefore acceptable. Unfortunately the service failed. The waitress accidentally spilled a cup on me, but instead of apologizing, she simply ran away. During the subsequent cleaning, the floor and chairs were cleaned quickly, but I wasn't even offered a cloth.

The view is fantastic, everything else is underground. Food quality is poor, tastes like it came from the microwave. Wilted lettuce leaves warmed up together with cheap fries. Prices are impressive. Self-service exclusively via cell phone, unfortunately impossible due to the lack of WiFi and hardly any mobile data at the top of the Drachenfels. Each mini pack of ketchup of 17 ml costs extra. Unfortunately no recommendation!!

The view while eating is amazing The restaurant was very busy, ordering via QR code went smoothly and the food arrived very quickly. The service staff was very friendly 😊 What really disappointed me was potato salad from a can…..that could be better, right?

Drachenfels is always beautiful, great views and you can walk up and down.

Drachenfels means the dragon rock because there are only rocks left which they call the castle, but the path on foot is highly recommended where you can enter caves or a small reptile zoo and you can see 2 castles or mansions that are beautiful. The food above is.....nice 😅

Nice good day, the service here is terrible in my opinion. Not just the service, but also the bitter atmosphere that prevails here. The food also tastes rancid. I would definitely not recommend you to show up here.

Whether you hike up and down or take the Drachenfelsbahn, both are nice and enjoying the view or a refreshment in liquid/solid form = nice if you have these options = good things are often closer than you think

The cake and coffee were good. Staff understaffed but hardworking and friendly. Nevertheless we had to wait longer. Nicely done for a tourist restaurant. It's just a tourist place.

Fantastic location, but they have the typical gastro problem of getting enough service staff. Accordingly, the service was subpar during our visit; ordering via QR code is recommended. My beer glass arrived unwashed or at least dirty. Food was okay so far.

An exceptional viewpoint at the terminus of a z rack train not to be missed

I can only report positive things! Easy ordering and payment via mobile phone. (Scan the card on the table using the QR CODE... the rest is self-explanatory.) Everything comes to the table exactly as you ordered it and that too, from friendly staff. The ladies and gentlemen there are really running their heels off... and still smiling. Thank you!

When it comes to the view, the restaurant is unbeatable. The coffee and cake served are also delicious. I especially recommend the waffles. And compared to a previous experience of mine, the service today is really good. You can easily order and pay online and even leave a tip there. Our order came very quickly even though it was pretty busy. And: the service was very friendly.

We were in the restaurant that is at the terminus of the cog railway. Pure disappointment! Totally exorbitant prices for convenience goods and canned stew. E.g. mayo or ketchup sachets for €1.00 Canned lentil stew over €10.00. It's a shame that this tourist processing spoils the fantastic scenery and you're no longer in such a good mood after visiting this restaurant. It should be mentioned, however, that the service staff was really very friendly and helpful.

Good location with nice views. We ordered using a QR code on the table which I normally don't like as it is impersonal but it ment we got our drinks and food very quickly. Also the service was very friendly.

Nice modern gastronomy with small snacks. Nice friendly service. I found the menu via QR-CODE and cashless payment system to be very good and contemporary. Unfortunately, I found the souvenir shop inside very exaggerated and inappropriate. All in all, a nice location for relaxed eating and drinking with a wonderful view, provided the weather cooperates.
