Great food, good prices, great team... What more could you want? We are happy to accept a half hour journey. An absolute recommendation!

We went to the restaurant with four people and after a very nice evening we made a reservation for the next evening. We couldn't have eaten better and had two lovely evenings, which we also have to thank the excellent team for. Thank you for that!!!

We were here with a group of 10 people. We had reserved and the tables were ready in the back of the restaurant. Very friendly welcome and also very attentive staff. The selection and explanations of the menu for “fish amateurs” were very good and understandable. The food came surprisingly quickly and everyone enjoyed it. The 38 year old (40) ???? deserves special recognition. Service, with the personal “you” we immediately felt very comfortable. She always had a good time. Keep it up..... If you want to eat freshly caught fish, excellently prepared, in a stylish and friendly atmosphere, this is the place for you. For me it was a taste experience. This didn't just affect the fish. The fried potatoes and bacon beans were also excellent. I will definitely come back here. It is particularly worth mentioning that dogs are welcome and in summer you can also dine outside.

We were here with four people and received a very friendly welcome. We were given the “Greetsieler Kutterplatte” recommended and it was awesome. We were totally thrilled. First there was a cucumber salad, then the fish platter with melted butter and two bowls of fried potatoes for four people. We have rarely eaten such excellent quality fish. “The Butt” is highly recommended.

We were very satisfied and I would actually have liked to give it 5 stars. But as in other reviews, I also find it a bit strange how emphatically the freshly caught fish (coincidentally the most expensive dishes) is advertised as a daily menu that is apparently permanently available. When none of our group chose this, the waitress expressed disappointment... (Why? Are the other dishes a bit inferior??) Overall, the service there is very good and friendly, but also a bit special, which certainly not everyone likes. Overall, definitely recommended, a 4 star rating hardly hurts the cut...

We were immediately recommended the freshly caught fish of the day. Otherwise frozen fish. We found €34 very expensive and split it between us. It was perfect for the two of us. Sufficient and really delicious. Service was also very friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately we were turned down cold... we were there at 5:30 p.m. sharp on a Saturday, hadn't made a reservation and asked for a free table. There were two of us with a small dog. In front of the door we had already chosen a dish from the menu posted (baked potato with crabs). After my question, the waitress had to consult with her colleague. The answer then more than amazed us! We could get a table, but only if we ordered freshly caught fish. My objection that we would like to eat baked potatoes was denied. So I ask myself: Do you earn more from freshly caught fish when you have spontaneous guests? Did the dog not fit? We found this answer extremely unpleasant and unfriendly and decided against the free table. It's a shame, you don't win any customers that way.

Leider eiskalt abgeblitzt… wir waren an einem Samstag pünktlich um 17:30 Uhr vor Ort, hatten nicht reserviert und fragten nach einem freien Tisch. Wir waren zu zweit mit kleinem Hund. Vor der Tür hatten wir uns schon auf der aushängenden Karte ein Gericht ausgesucht ( Ofenkartoffel mit Krabben). Nach meiner Frage musste die Kellnerin Rücksprache mit ihrer Kollegin halten. Die Antwort dann hat uns mehr als verblüfft! Wir könnten einen Tisch bekommen, aber nur, wenn wir fangfrischen Fisch bestellen würden. Mein Einwand, dass wir gerne Ofenkartoffeln essen würden, wurde verneint. Da frage ich mich: Verdient man bei spontanen Gästen mehr am fangfrischen Fisch? Passte der Hund nicht? Wir empfanden diese Antwort als äußerst unangenehm und unfreundlich und haben auf den freien Tisch verzichtet. Schade, so gewinnt man keine Kunden.

We had the Greetsieler Kutterplatte for 2 people with fried potatoes and cucumber salad and freshly tapped Jever. We haven't eaten and drunk so well in a long time. The fish was on point, the fried potatoes were plentiful and tasty, the cucumber salad went well with the fish and the fried potatoes. The price-performance ratio is right. Very nice and attentive employees. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and very well maintained. It is right next to a parking lot and the pedestrian zone. Dogs are welcome. Very good freshly caught plaice. We were there at 7 and 8 p.m. Well attended. Unfortunately we couldn't order dessert, I think it was due to staffing reasons, but I'm not sure.

The goods are always very fresh and good. The cucumber salad doesn't suit my taste. My recommendation is the plaice.

We have the restaurant sqm 1.9. Visited with 3 people following a recommendation from the internet. We were thrilled: nice atmosphere, very friendly and competent service and fish of super quality. The price/performance ratio is great. The evening was an experience for the taste buds! Absolutely recommended.

An absolute recommendation is this nice fish restaurant in a small hidden alley. It is said to be the only restaurant that is still supplied with fresh fish from the North Sea. We had the fish platter for two with fried potatoes. There was also cucumber salad. Filleting was also demonstrated again at the table. Very friendly, attentive service. We recommend the restaurant and would be happy to come back.

August 11, 2024 We were here in Jever for the old town festival! Very nicely set up and something for everyone... music stages... rides and lots of culinary delights 👍🏻 The restaurant 'Der Butt' was found almost by chance. We were in the right place here because we like to eat fish. Since the evening was still nice and warm, we took a seat outside. We received quick and friendly advice and service. When our food was served our mouths were already watering 😂and it was so delicious!! We'll definitely be back soon 👍🏻

Coincidence led us to the Butt on a Thursday evening. We didn't have a reservation. With a bit of chaos in the service and a pinch of luck, we were assigned an outside table. Since we wanted to be surprised, we ordered the daily special. Basically the fish was very tasty. However, I was missing a certain something for the last star that I can't describe exactly. The price is very high. Maybe fried a little crispier, more choice of side dishes or maybe not all types of fish served breaded. The preparation form was very hearty and buttery. A kind tip for the service, as a guest I feel like a troublemaker in the system. The Nordic, cool, friendly manner is generally fine. But your stress must not be passed on to the customer. Tries to bring some calmness to the operation with more structure.

The Butt is a somewhat special restaurant. There is freshly caught fish that is really good. Fresh, very tasty and well prepared. There is also a map with around 15 other positions. Was then informed right at the beginning that half of them would not be available today. A risk that is of course always present with fresh fish. The fried potatoes were okay, but nothing more. The service is a Frisian original. Nice, friendly, responsive, but… Of course, I'll tell you where to go. (Our recommendation today is the Greetsieler Kutterplatte, the Greetsieler Kutterplatte, the Greetsieler Kutterplatte, lest you choose anything else 😉) All in all, it was a very nice evening that we spent, with a few smiles along the way.

Can't recommend the place... The waitress only recommends three dishes as fresh...Everything else is..."just frozen fish..." We then accepted this recommendation in good faith... The "highly praised cutter plate:... three types of fish with fried potatoes and cucumber salad... was then advertised almost intrusively by the staff..... We didn't like the food at all... The fried potatoes were totally "stuffy", the cucumber salad tasted like nothing and the three types of fish were fresh but all tasted the same... Any good fish stall in the North Sea port is better... Basically, you can have first-class food in Jever in the evening... It was particularly good in the Taverna and also simply brilliant in "Groh's Kitchen..."

Once again we ate delicious fish! Of course quality has its price and this is justified! The only way to get fresher is on board the cutter

This is how fish should taste... fresh and aromatic.The fried potatoes were crispy and spicy...the salad was perfect. The service was friendly, attentive (with a bell on the wall) and quick. In the end the pay was reasonable.

Easter Sunday family dinner at Butt, the welcome was very warm and the care was very good. The food was ok except for the fried potatoes, which seemed to have failed. The price could have been a little lower. The drinks were particularly good. The price for two people at over €70 is a lot. 65€ would have done it too.

Unfortunately not for me. In a designated fish restaurant there should be more fresh fish and not just that on a Greetsiler platter, which is offered very intensively to every customer. Unfortunately the fish is just average. Unfortunately. Never come back and no recommendation from me either.

The Butt is a super cozy, smaller restaurant with friendly service. A little hidden in a small side street, but there is a parking lot right behind it and so with only a small footpath. I would recommend a reservation to everyone, the small shop quickly became busy. And some visitors after us unfortunately had to be sent away. The recommendation of freshly caught fish was really excellent. The portions are generous, but not too much. We would be happy to come back.

The Butt is a cozy and excellent fresh fish restaurant with great fish recommendations and - including the boss - friendly service staff. My wife and I were there last Friday, followed the recommendation of "winter cod fillet" in Dijon mustard sauce, potatoes and delicious homemade cucumber salad and didn't regret it. We'd be happy to come back, especially since we, as "ex-touries" and now local Jever residents, don't have that far anymore.

Open in the evenings from 5:30 p.m. with great service and advice Agreed 100%. The greeting from the kitchen was very tasty, with black olives That was right! The main course=winter Skrey with mustard sauce with potatoes and, The icing on the cake is a unique cucumber salad, just like our grandma's!! Big portion And lots of taste. The price was reasonable!! The only drawback, the drinks prices unfortunately they are overpriced. That doesn't work! I will gladly come again

Fresh fish!!! Good advice, very tasty, large portions, flexible service! However, from January 8th. initially closed due to vacation (2 weeks?) - but you should call to reserve a table anyway! 😊

Am 31.12.2023 mit Freunden einen sehr schönen Abend genossen. Die Qualität der Speisen war hervorragend. Egal ob Wolfsbarsch, Seezunge, Scholle oder Krabben und Garnelen, alles war ein Erlebnis für den Gaumen. Beim Service gab es ebenfalls nichts zu bemängeln. Jeder der in Jever Fisch essen möchte, sollte dieses Restaurant besuchen.

Danke für die wunderschöne Zeit. Essen top, Bedienung super und dazu ein fairer Preis. Und zwei Jahre später kann ich nur sagen: immer noch top! Danke für die schöne Zeit bei euch.

Der Butt ist ein uriges, gemütliches Fisch-Restaurant, welches wir zufällig entdeckt hatten. Sehr netter Service. Alle Details waren stimmig. Unsere Kinder bekamen etwas zum malen bis das Essen kam, das fanden wir großartig. Wir orderten regionalen Fisch aus der Nordsee, der uns sehr gut gefiel und noch besser geschmeckt hat. Norddeutsche Freundlichkeit. (Am Anfang gewöhnungsbedürftig 😉.) Toller fangfrischer Fisch. Preis-/ Leistungsverhältnis ist perfekt. Die Mengen sind auch ohne Vorspeise ausreichend. Service ist klasse.

Das Marketing funktioniert perfekt. Die Fischplatte mit fangfrischem Fisch wird hier wohl jedem empfohlenen. Nun denn, wird sind auch darauf reingefallen. Eine Riesen Haufen Fisch. Geschmacklich kaum zu unterscheiden. Lieblos aufgehäuft, einfallslos dekoriert fade Beilagen. Gurkensalat und Brat(na ja)Kartoffeln. Gegen 20:00 waren wir die einzigen Gäste (Sonntag). Als wir unsere Ecke verließen stand die übrigen Stühle schon auf den Tischen. Es hätte nicht viel gefehlt und wir wären ausgelüftet worden. Ich würde nicht nochmal hier vorbei schauen

Einfach gut! Gemischte Fischplatte und Dorade sind super lecker, die Portionen mehr als ausreichend. Zum Essen frisches Jever, was will man mehr? Im Service ist die Frau des Chefs eine Sensation: Freundlich, schlagfertig und super aufmerksam. Die jüngeren Mitarbeiter sind noch in der Anlernphase, das muss noch etwas reifen. Wir hatten einen richtig schönen Abend hier.

Das Restaurant öffnet erst immer am Donnerstag, was ein bisschen schade ist, wenn man nur Kurzurlaub macht. Das Essen ist aber super, vor allem die leckere Fischplatte mit tagesfrischem Fisch, dazu hausgemachte Bratkartoffeln und Gurkensalat - wir haben es sehr bedauert, dass wir am nächsten Tag nach Hause mussten, sonst wären wir gern dort nochmal essen gegangen.

Es tut mir etwas Leid hier so wenig Sterne geben zu können, da wir vor Corona durchaus sehr zufrieden waren aber durch Einsparungen hat sowohl die Auswahl als auch der Service gelitten. Was für mich an einem Restaurant wichtig ist, ist eigentlich simple, das was sie auf der Karte stehen haben können sie auch zubereiten. Ich wollte heute meine Tante und Onkel zu einem tollen Essen mit allen drum und dran einladen als Dankeschön für einen tollen Urlaub und es war auch alles prima, wir haben die Karte bekommen hatten uns Vorspeise und Hauptgericht ausgesucht und wollten bestellen... Und dann hieß es "Sorry heute ist es zu voll da machen wir keine Vorspeisen"... Und ich hab ja auch für vieles Verständnis, aber sowas kann man ja auch vollkommen anders handhaben, man kann es direkt im Vorfeld bei der Reservierung erwähnen, man kann wenn man weiß das man das öfter hat zwei Karten machen, eine für vollere Tage eine für weniger volle Tage, man streicht die Vorspeisen ganz, man erwähnt das bereits vor der Bestellung und reicht als "Entschuldigung" einen Willkommensschnaps und und und. Wir hatten eher das Gefühl als wollte man uns relativ zügig wieder los werden, weil der Tisch vermutlich für weitere spätere Gäste reserviert war. Das hat natürlich die Stimmung getrübt man macht sich ja auch schon beim schauen in die Speisekarte etwas Vorfreude. Na ja, zum eigentlichen Essen. Meine Verwandten hatten die Fangfrische Fischplatte, die war gut. Leider bin ich kein großer Fisch Esser, vor Corona hatten sie noch Nudeln mit Garnelen, leider inzwischen nicht mehr, daher hab ich das die Schweinemedalions in Jever Brauhaus Champignon Soße bestellt. Nun erwarte ich nicht das beste, wenn ich in einem Restaurant was auf Fisch spezialisiert ist Fleisch bestelle, aber ich muss leider sagen das die Soße total versalzen war. Als wäre es ne Maggi Fix Soße gewesen wo man nur die halbe Menge des Wassers genommen hat... RESÜMEE: Der Fangfriche Fisch verdient wohl seine 5 Punkte, aber davon ziehen wir 3 ab da sie Vorspeisen auf der Karte haben die man nicht bestellen kann (wenn es zu voll ist, was wohl sehr sehr häufig der Fall ist). Dann ziehe ich weitere 2 Punkte ab für Salz, sehr, sehr viel Salz in meinem Essen. Und dann gibt es noch 2 Punkte dafür das Hunde erlaubt sind und einen dafür das sie sogar Wasser bekommen. Und einen Punkt ziehe ich ab, weil der Kellner zum Schluss noch meinte "Na seht ihr die Portionen waren doch ordentlich da braucht man doch keine Vorspeise", ob man das braucht oder nicht ist doch dem Gast überlassen und er hätte es nicht nochmal ansprechen müssen. Also 2 Punkte, ich würde nur noch hingehen wenn meine Begleitung unbedingt fangfrischen Fisch haben will, der ist wohl ganz lecker...

Sehr leckere fangfrische Scholle zum Sattessen(3Stück). Lange nicht mehr einen so tollen Fisch gehabt.
