Restaurant Sankt Urban offers refined, classic service and a sophisticated dining experience. It's so pleasant as a guest when the staff provides accurate answers and recommendations to your questions. The food was excellent. We had classic goose and fish. The goose and all the side dishes were perfect. The goose was served in two courses, and the side dishes were served separately for the second course. It was a wonderful evening with an exceptionally warm and friendly server, Lea. Yes, quality and a refined ambiance come at a price. If you don't value cloth napkins, fresh flowers, tablecloths, etc., you should look for other restaurants. They will certainly be more affordable. Thank you to the team for a wonderful evening.

We wanted to come for lunch today. And it was a quarter to two! However, the waiters apparently couldn't be bothered and said they only had the limited menu. So, sorry, but then don't offer it if it says everywhere that lunch is served until 2 pm, and the customers are there BEFORE 2 pm and... it wasn't even busy! That's what I call laziness. We won't be coming back!

Avoid room 11. It's not up to the standards of a five-star hotel and needs a facelift. A flat fee of €40 per night for the dog is also incomprehensible. There's absolutely nothing provided in return (e.g., a cushion, bowl, food... which isn't necessary since you have everything with you, but you'd expect something for a €40 x 2 charge).

The food at Sankt Urban wasn't entirely convincing. The dishes were a bit over-salted. However, the service and location were excellent.

We visit the Palatinate several times a year and always visit the Deidesheimer Hof. However, on our last visit, we were very surprised by the poor quality of the bread (dry). The Waldorf salad with the venison pâté lacked acidity. Our warning to the waitress was ignored.

It was a hotel I didn't expect, but it far exceeded my expectations. The room was spacious and the service was excellent.

We went for dinner with friends. The food and service were excellent.

Fine cuisine. Professional staff. A meeting place for the upper class and those who aspire to be. But also upper-class prices. Ever since Helmut Kohl ate sausages here with Gorbachev and others, it's always busy on Thursdays. But the run-of-the-mill restaurant next door offers comparable dishes for significantly less.

We stayed overnight at the Hotel Deidesheimer Hof. The room was extremely noisy, as it faces the cobblestone main street. The hotel is extremely winding and confusing, with numerous hallways and stairs. Room prices are too high. Breakfast was €30.00 per person. We even had breakfast, which was so expensive. The final straw was the additional parking fee. The former prominent guests don't justify the prices in any way. The hotel is a bit dated. We won't recommend this hotel to anyone.

We reserved a renovated room early. The communication and service were very friendly and prompt. Despite the wine festival, the service was more than friendly and prompt. The team did a top job. The food was very well prepared. Only the dessert of plum hash brown with ice cream and vanilla sauce for €16.00 was more than manageable. Perhaps even too delicious for the small portion 🫢 But: the breakfast, at a price of €30.00 per person, is disproportionate. The selection is very limited. The orange juice comes from a Granini machine. The cheese and cold cuts were exceedingly meager in terms of selection and quantity. It simply lacks the refinements that you often find in other 5-star hotels. There are no freshly prepared desserts like crêpes or waffles on the menu. The omelet was more like a crêpe and was rather unloving - both in taste and appearance. In summary: far too plain for 5 stars. The service, however, is very attentive and helpful.

Nice restaurant with good food.

At prime time around 7:00 PM on the second Saturday of the Kerwe festival, we (four adults) were lucky enough to get a free table at the Deidesheimer Hof (inner courtyard). We were overjoyed, and the friendly waiter came right away to take our drink order. The first surprise followed immediately: At the top-of-the-line restaurant, the 5-star Deidesheimer Hof, one of the wines on the drinks menu had already been sold out by 7:00 PM (from a local winery 400 meters away) – not tragic, but still worth a chuckle. When the drinks arrived, we placed our food order: four dishes without an appetizer. After about 35-40 minutes, the first two of four dishes arrived. The wait was acceptable for us, considering the hustle and bustle in the courtyard. After another 15 minutes of waiting, the two missing dishes still hadn't arrived, and the others' plates were gradually emptying. When I approached a "person in charge" at the champagne counter with the initials HM (he's a short figure, wears glasses, and, upon my inquiry, is part of the owner's circle) whether it was usual for meals to take so long and for a table to be served at different locations, he immediately dropped everything and disappeared towards the kitchen (which pleasantly surprised me at the time). After 2-3 minutes, he came back and told me it would take a while and that he formally apologized for it – nothing more, nothing less, which surprised me greatly in the situation, because at such a place (THE address in Deidesheim), you have to assume as a guest that such a drastic delay won't simply be dismissed with warm words, but that some kind of appreciation could have been shown at least as a gesture – nothing of the sort. After growing dissatisfaction with what I considered to be the poor handling of the situation, we decided to cancel the missing meals and request the bill. Over an hour has now passed, and we're more than hungry. I asked the waiter to convey our displeasure, and when we received the bill, the "boss" again only offered kind words about the waiter, saying that she was, of course, sorry – again, only kind words that were ineffective in our situation. But as we were leaving, the icing on the cake arrived, and that's actually the reason for this review, as I fully understand that at a wine festival and a full courtyard, there can be longer waits and that something might even be forgotten – no problem at all. What I find disgraceful, however, and unworthy of a D-Hof, is the way HM, as part of the owner group, handled this. As a guest in a 5-star hotel, you have a certain expectation of a host at this level of the hierarchy. I asked him if he was open to constructive criticism, which he confirmed. When I explained my perspective and felt that some sort of apology was missing (e.g., food/drinks on the house, a discount on the total bill, etc.), he lashed out and began explaining and justifying himself for leaving everything behind despite the busy schedule, etc. (which, as mentioned above, I took positively), but unfortunately, his efforts were worthless, as he only came back to continue putting me off. This lack of insight and the fact that he's arguing with a guest is abysmal and simply bad (when the host is obviously to blame). If, as a guest, you're willing to escape the hustle and bustle of the fair and accept higher prices for food and drink than you'd pay "off the street," then, in my opinion, you're entitled to have certain expectations, which were unfortunately flouted at the highest level last night.

I had an unforgettable time at the Deidesheimer Hof. The location is simply perfect – right in the historic center of Deidesheim, surrounded by charming half-timbered houses and right on the market square. The hotel combines baroque elegance with modern comfort in a way that immediately invites you to feel at home. My room was not only beautifully furnished, but also absolutely cozy and lovingly designed down to the last detail. I would especially like to emphasize the warmth of the entire team. You don't feel like a guest, but rather like a welcome friend. Your every wish was almost anticipated and fulfilled with a smile. The Deidesheimer Hof is a true culinary highlight. Whether in the elegant gourmet restaurant or in the cozy parlor – the cuisine is creative, regionally influenced, and simply delicious. Every course was an experience in itself. For me, it was a stay full of enjoyment, relaxation, and special moments. I will definitely be back and am already looking forward to it.

We had a nice room...but otherwise, okay. For €30 per person, the breakfast was substandard for a 5-star hotel. I think you can see that clearly in the photos. The cheese platter was a real joke.

Great party, but no one there to bring you drinks.

Delicious cuisine in a top location with friendly service

I am not staying in here. However restaurant was amazing 😋

Came for lunch on a drive down to Ammersee. We had great hopes that we would have a lovely meal outside.. But the service was terrible.. 1. Of the five of us one waited half an hour or more later than everyone else for their tap beer, even after asking three times. 2. We had to wait a long time for our meals, and when they came, the waiter brought one wrong meal. 3. One of our party had ordered dessert as part of their meal.. It took forever to be served after everybody else's dishes had been taken away. Again we had to remind the waitress.. At no stage did any of the staff apologise for the delays or mixups or poor service.. They simply treated us with disregard. During our meal, sitting outside, we were plagued by hundreds of flies.. There did not appear to be any attempt to contain them. Would I go back? I do not think so!

Beautifully furnished, spacious rooms. The breakfast leaves nothing to be desired, and the staff is extremely friendly and enthusiastic. The dishes at the St. Urban restaurant are delicious and beautifully presented, and the wine list is highly recommended.

We ate outside. The food was very good. However, in my opinion the service was completely understaffed. The starter arrived, but the wine was missing. It came after I asked for soup. I had asked for it a second time. I looked at the clock; it took 54 minutes for the first glass to arrive. Generally speaking, things carried on like that; the second glass came after dessert; I was actually about to leave. With food prices like that, I don't think the Deidesheimer Hof can afford something like that. The service was very attentive and friendly, but they were running for their lives. If there is a shortage of staff, then I cannot accept so many reservations, or I would honestly point this out to the guest at the beginning.

We ate at Deidesheimer Hof, which is an institution in the Palatinate. A lot of political history, all about the Saumagen :-). Many photos of state guests from the Kohl era hang on the walls. A wide card fulfills almost all wishes. The quality of the food and service were excellent. A very special experience to be able to stop here.

Ich komme in dieses Restaurant seit 1987. In diesen Jahren hat sich der Deidesheimer Hof bei fast allen Lunches dort als eine unserer besten Restaurantadressen erwiesen. Wir saßen heute in der wunderschönen Weinbibliothek, die Kellnerin von einer umwerfenden Freundlichkeit und Kundenorientierung. Die bretonische Fischsuppe absolut exzellent. Der Saibling in Ordnung und das Kartoffelpüree hinreissend gut. Um uns ausgezeichnete Leute, ich habe mich sehr wohl gefült. Die Inhaberin kümmerte sich um unseren nächsten Tisch persönlich. Nach dem was ich heute erlebt habe, ist der Deidesheimer Hof (ich gehe jeden Tag auswärts lunchen) unsere klare Nummer Eins. Mein Leben wäre ärmer ohne diese phantastische Atmosphäre im Deidesheimer Hof. Hinterher sind wir an das Grab von Helmut Kohl gefahren in Speyer, Hirschgasse 4, macht das in dieser Kombination gern nach. Lieben Gruß, Dorian Hartmuth.

Also es hat sehr gut angefangen. Nette Bedienung, tolle Vorspeise und geniales Bärlauchsüppchen. Aber dann, das Hauptgericht war richtig schlecht. Die Tagliatelle viel zu dick und die Filetspitzen in Morchelsosse zäh und eine Schande für das Restaurant. Morcheln waren geschmacklich wahrnehmbar aber keine zu sehen. Der Nachtisch war wieder sehr lecker. Aber, wir sind enttäuscht. Das war für uns keine Einladung um wieder zu kommen.

A great hotel in the heart of Deidesheim. We had a very nicely furnished room. Unfortunately the room was on the main road and next to the delivery entrance with a large iron gate. On Sunday mornings, from about 7:00 onwards, sleeping was no longer an option.

Very good hotel. We were given modernized rooms (8 and 9). We have been staying at the hotel for 20 years and are pleased with the necessary modernization that has been completed, even if not in all areas. The breakfast room has also received its long-overdue renovation. Breakfast is very good, although for a hotel of this class I would like a bit more choice and fresh orange juice. The food in the restaurant is excellent and the staff very friendly. The location right on the market square is a lovely place to relax in the sun. Pictures of various rooms are included. It is a bit questionable when, as a guest, you are called at 10:30 a.m. and asked when you will be leaving your room, as you have something to do.

A very beautiful, lovingly maintained hotel. We stayed one night in the Wempe Suite. The bathroom/toilet window looks directly onto a wall. However, you only notice this when you open it, as the windows are made of frosted glass. The bedroom/living room windows are at the level of the furnished courtyard. Guests from the courtyard can all look into the room, or they can draw the curtains. Since we were only here for one night in winter, it didn't bother us. In spring/summer/autumn, I wouldn't mind it so much. The interior of the room, however, was very nice. However, I do think that a 5-star hotel should have a coffee/tea maker.

More than disappointed because after agreeing to the menu, a rejection came with the statement that we couldn't handle it that day. Didn't we know or be able to estimate this beforehand? I can't comment on the location etc. because I haven't been there.

The Deidesheimer Hof is an absolute highlight! Excellent service, exquisite cuisine and a stylish ambience make every visit unforgettable. The selection of regional wines is particularly impressive, perfectly matched to the creative dishes. A place where enjoyment and hospitality are very important. Absolutely recommended!

Food and drinks top, as well as the service

We were only there for dinner. The menu was concise. Prices were a bit inflated. For our second wheat beer, the bottle (€5.90) ​​was simply placed on the table.

We hosted an event with 45 guests in the vaulted cellar. The ambiance was outstanding, the tables were beautifully decorated. The service from the waitresses was excellent. The menu selection was very well-chosen. Everyone had a wonderful evening. We'd love to come back again.

Ich musste mich erstmal sammeln und berichte über unseren gestrigen Besuch. Vorweg - vielleicht sind wir mit zu hohen Erwartungen gestartet - aber der Deidesheimer Hof und das St. Urban versprechen ja auch eine gute Küche, werben mit vielen Promies und werden auch im Michelin löblich erwähnt. Dafür zahlt man auch gerne etwas mehr. Erwartet dafür aber TOP Service und Top Qualität. Gekommen sind wir wegen des Gänsemenues - ok im Vorfeld wurde nicht erwähnt das eine Knoblauchallergikerin dabei ist - aber das sahen wir auch nicht als problematisch an Eins vorneweg - geschmacklich war die Gans und das Dessert top - die Vorspeise war ok - die letztendliche Alternative kam gut an. Aber der Rest - war stark verbesserungsbedürftig. Nachdem wir das Gänsemenue mit Weinbegleitung bestellt hatten , kam noch die Frage nach Knoblauch als Inhaltsstoff. Hier merkte man schnell das unsere Bedienung etwas panisch reagierte und erstmal mit der Küche abklären musste, ob das überhaupt möglich sei. Nach 20 Min. kam dann der Hinweis Gänseschmalz mit Knoblauch / Gänsestrudel mit Knoblauch / Gänsebraten - Beifuß Jus auch mit Knoblauch. Hinweis - unser Knoblauchalleriker soll sich doch bitte was anderes aussuchen (wir kamen aber wegen der Gans) - nach einigem Hin und her - Haupgang ohne Soße geht - kein Knoblauch - Alternative Vorspeise - Vorschlag aus der Küche Salat mit Essig-Öl Dressing - das wäre das Einzige (wird hier wohl mit Fertiggewürzmischungen gekocht? Anders lässt sich das nicht erklären - in meinen Dressings zuhause ist nie Knoblauch. Nachdem wir entschieden haben Salat nein - kam von unsre Seite der Vorschlag Risotto als Vorspeise - das hat dann letztendlich geklappt. Nach 45 Min. konnten wir dann endlich bestellen. Dann ging es Schlag auf Schlag Aperetif - Gänseschmalz und Butter als 1. Gang wir hatten gerade angestoßen - wurde der 1. Wein einfach eingeschenkt und die Vorspeise Gänsestrudel (Frühlingsrolle mit Gansfüllung - kein Strudel) kommentarlos hingestellt. Kein Hinweis zum Wein zum Weingut - nicht was auf dem Teller liegt. Danach der Hauptgang und Wein 2. Zumindest Rebsorte und Weingut wurden genannt. Danach kam das Dessert -sehr lecker - allerdings wäre auch hier ein Komponententausch im Menü nicht möglich gewesen. Fazit: Essen war gut - aber nicht überragend Bedienung - hatte vielleicht einen schlechten Tag - aber in der Liga wo das St. Urbans spielt sollte es für den Gast keine schlechten Tage geben. Da sind wir anderes gewohnt. Weinbegleitung für Menü 2 Weine 0,1 für 4 Gänge etwas wenig - nachschenken kostet extra Insgesamt - Für 362 € zu tritt hätte ich leider was anderes erwartet - mehr entgegenkommen - und eine Küche - die mit Allergien anders umgeht -

We've been there several times recently for larger events and were disappointed every time. The service is poor, the boss is absolutely unfriendly and when asked, the operators are also disinterested. At times it was very chaotic and everything was mixed up. The atmosphere is outdated. The food is good, plain, no trace of creativity. Too bad!

Unfortunately, we left the Deidesheimer Hof very disappointed - it actually started well with a friendly greeting and a nice employee who accompanied us to the room. But then it stopped. The hotel seems to still live on its former reputation and the town of Deidesheim, because it cannot be the hotel itself. The rooms have their best days behind them and need an update, especially in the bathroom. The turn-down, which was very loudly announced by the employee, did not take place in the evening. But what was really bad was some chair moving somewhere very early in the morning in the hotel on a Sunday - my guess is that it came from the breakfast room opposite and woke me up from my sleep. This was followed by breakfast with not too friendly staff, an orange juice that didn't deserve the name, but otherwise good food. When checking out, I wasn't even asked how the stay was. My uninvited comment about the lack of sleep and the fact that this couldn't be the case given the prices was dismissed as saying that you would start working much later and the lack of friendliness turned into unfriendly. And then we didn’t even wish for a nice day anymore…

Am letzten Freitag im Okt. waren wir dort. Es war plötzlich wieder Sommer und das Personal, von dem unerwarteten Ansturm überrascht, ließ sich nichts anmerken. Die Speisen kamen heiß und der Wein gekühlt zum Tisch. Auch nach 14 Uhr war der Platz noch voll. Durch die Leistung des gesamten Hauses ein toller Mittagstisch. (Wir aßen Rehleber und Kastanien-Saumagen; beides sehr gut.)

The 5 stars only concern a young waitress, otherwise there is 1 star for the entire property. The prestige of this former 5-star hotel has seriously cracked. I wasn't a hotel guest. I had a reservation for dinner. As a single person, dressed very neatly, I was taken by the manager of the house (it was only 6 p.m.) to a cat table, right by the door, to an adjoining room and next to it the cutlery table, placed with his back to the room. There was no place to sit on the other side of the table, as there had to be space for the passage to the room. When I commented that "I'm used to different things in restaurants like this", the lady of the house gave me a place at the table opposite, also with his back to the room. In total I was there until 6:45 p.m. (I left the location as quickly as possible) in the next room and ate alone. No other guest, far or wide, in the two adjacent rooms. The fish dish, with vegetables, was "good middle-class", both in terms of preparation and presentation. The price-performance ratio has no bearing on this. I am referring to some very accurate reviews from other guests: "an outdated restaurant", "food that corresponds to the style of 30 years ago", "that the tone leaves something to be desired". Unfortunately, I only read the reviews after my short stay. In any case, a waitress approached me in the way I would expect in a "high quality" establishment that is so steeped in history. I would like to thank the young waitress again for the always courteous service, her friendliness and the very laudable tone with me. It was only because of her that I didn't get up and leave again. All in all: there are better hotels, with restaurants, in Deidesheim that fully meet their stated quality standards and where ALL guests are treated equally friendly.

Incredibly winding and long paths to rooms and the restaurant

Leider wieder im Kellerlokal Plätze erhalten obwohl frühzeitig reserviert und um Plätze im Hauptlokal gebeten. Das Problem ist wie immer,dass die HG nicht so heiß im Kellerlokal angeliefert werden da ohne Cloche serviert. Service war gut trotz voller Belegung. Vorspeisen waren ok. HG nur lauwarm serviert.

Nach zehn Jahren waren wir für eine Geburtstagsfeier bei ihnen. Der Massenbetrieb war für uns ungewohnt und enttäuschend. Für das Geschäft war es bestimmt gut. Wir haben leider unsere Erinnerungen nicht wiedergefunden. Aber trotzdem vielen Dank. Mit freundlichen Grüßen Robert Pinter

Ich finde diesen Ort einfach beeindruckend! Man sitzt schön in der Abendsonne auf dem Platz am Brunnen, einfach sehr stimmungsvoll! Auf jeden Fall gehe ich einmal zur Toilette, allein um die historisch bewegenden Bilder zu sehen, die ich immer gerne sehe…. Es sind auch diesmal sehr nette und fleißige neue Damen und Herren da, die sich wirklich Mühe geben, auch wenn nicht alles immer perfekt ist. Und jetzt zur Küche: wenn das der Altkanzler erleben würde, wäre er noch immer so begeistert?Das ist für meinen Geschmack nicht mehr die Küche des ehrwürdigen Deidesheimer Hofes! Das Rumpsteak mit geschmorten Zwiebeln ist Dauergast, es gibt kein Schnitzel, kein Filet, keinen tollen Salat mit z.B. Huhn, Filetstreifen oder Gambas! Keinerlei Inspiration, auch wenn der Gast durchaus traditionell sein mag!Eigentlich eine totale Enttäuschung! M. E. muss man die Küche mit jungem Geist neu beleben! So wird es einen schleichenden Niedergang geben, den diese Ikone nicht verdient hat….

The Deidesheimer Hof is a historic hotel with good cuisine. We were invited to a wedding reception and also stayed in the hotel for two nights. Former Federal Chancellor Helmut Kohl often took his state guests here to see the Palatinate Saumagen. The restaurant has been awarded a Michelin star. Everyone should decide for themselves whether breakfast costs 30 euros per person. However, in a 5 star hotel I expect the rooms to be cleaner. Very nice old school hotel. Rooms are really awesome! We had a suite and there was endless space! Of course very clean. And super nice staff ❤️

I was a guest and service provider at the Deidesheimer Hof and think it is an incredibly beautiful place to celebrate parties and weddings. The outdoor area in particular gives the perfect Tuscan vibe in summer. ☀️

Leider haben wir nun bereits zum zweiten Mal über eine Stunde auf das Essen gewartet. Am Nebentisch, welcher über eine halbe Stunde nach uns Platz genommen hatte, wurde gerade die Rechnung bezahlt, als wir das Essen serviert bekommen haben. Das Essen war sehr gut, die Organisation leider gar nicht, schade…

Cozy and very clean. The service was very nice and helpful. I'll just write briefly about the food: the restaurants are known beyond the borders: top quality, star cuisine! The rooms are no longer the newest and at the same time they fit to the ambience of the whole hotel (meant in a positive way). You can trust the wine recommendations in both restaurants. We will be back definitely !!

After a very delicious Valentine's menu in the hotel's cozy St. Urban parlors, a nice, comfortable room awaited us. This was a great way to end the wonderful evening. Oh yes, the air conditioning should be explained to you.

The only drawback: We would have expected a little more from the wine list in this region. Especially when it comes to vintage depth and variance. The glasses also no longer correspond to what I think you can expect when you order wines of a certain quality.

We had lunch there while passing through and were very satisfied. Palatinate plates and Riesling delicious and service friendly. Recommended!
