Great little shop. The fish sandwiches are fresh. The fish kebab is fantastic. Unfortunately, the opening hours aren't very convenient for working people unless you work right in the area. Otherwise, I'd probably eat there more often. But as it is, it remains something special.

We were looking for a fish sandwich this afternoon. After a nice lady recommended Fischjung to us, we headed there. We were very impressed with the shop's concept, and what we had planned was a fish sandwich, which turned into a coastal kebab. It was incredibly delicious and made with an incredible amount of smoked salmon. So, if you want to eat fish in Schwerin, this is the place to be 👍🏻

I was here today with my husband. After sitting for a while, we realized we had to order at the counter ourselves, while others at the table had their orders taken. Well, that's about the service. The lady at the cashier was nice, though. I can't say much about the atmosphere. It's good for a quick meal, but a bit run-down. The food didn't take long to arrive, was pleasing to the eye, and nicely presented. However, my appetite was completely ruined when a beetle crawled out of the salad at our next table. The woman received her food after me. She had the same dish as me. After that, I was just worried that something would appear in my salad, or that I might already have it in my mouth. After that, I simply couldn't eat any more. I'm amazed that our next table didn't leave the restaurant after that. Kudos to the girls. But for me, it was the first and last time. This is pre-packaged salad that apparently goes directly to the customer without being washed. A real no-go.

We arrived here in rainy weather. The guys behind the counter were great and straightforward in their approach to customers, the food was delicious, beautifully presented, and the open kitchen looked very clean. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys fish and unconventional locations. There's a constant coming and going, which is always a sign of a good restaurant. The guests are of all ages, and there are no long waits—although that certainly depends on when you arrive. In this case, it was late lunchtime. We were thoroughly impressed. PS: You order at the counter, but the food is brought to your table. You also pay at the counter. I think that's fine, especially since the price-performance ratio is still really good here.

We had a fantastic experience at this restaurant! The fish was incredibly fresh and flavorful. We started with the soup, which was rich, well-seasoned, and absolutely delicious. For the main course, we enjoyed both matias in a ban and the fish and chips—both were amazing! The fish and chips, in particular, were perfectly crispy and light, with tender fish inside. A must-visit spot if you love fresh seafood.

At first glance, the place looks more like a simple snack bar where everything seems to be fried. The air is a bit heavy, the space quite cramped, and the ambiance initially reminds one not of a restaurant, but rather of a fast-food joint. But this first impression is deceptive. The fish, although fried, tastes surprisingly excellent. It's crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, wonderfully seasoned, and by no means too oily. The dip served with it is particularly pleasing, with a convincing flavor and much more than just a side dish. The fries are also worth mentioning: crispy, golden yellow, and with a real potato flavor, not the random-tasting frozen products you might expect in this setting. The dining room was clean, as was the cutlery. There is only one restroom, but it was in perfect hygienic condition. The staff occasionally seemed a bit overwhelmed with language, but always remained friendly and helpful. As a cyclist, I was particularly pleased with the bike rack, a small but very practical detail. The value for money here is absolutely spot on. The ambiance is simple, but perfectly suited to the fish dishes on offer. Anyone who values good, honest food and is willing to look beyond first impressions will be very pleasantly surprised.

Fried fish in a bun, very tasty and beautifully presented in the bun, highly recommended 🤙🏻 Here's an addendum from a day later: Unfortunately, the employees, especially the young woman, are completely overwhelmed with taking orders. You can only order in the store if you're also eating there, unfortunately, you only find out about this after waiting in line for a while. Ordering and paying right away wasn't possible, so you had to queue outside again...it felt like you were at the police station!

We can't judge the food because we've lost our appetite. The sandwiches are made with bare fingers, no gloves or tongs—that's completely unacceptable for us.

The food tastes good and looks very pretty. Due to the decorative presentation, it's not always easy to eat ;) We waited 20 minutes to order, and another 10 minutes for the food. That's too long for takeaway food in my opinion. At lunchtime (1 p.m.), you might want to have more than two people in the shop. So, I recommend it – if you have time to wait.

The interior of the restaurant is decorated with various fish motifs and has a great atmosphere. ✨ The staff are also very friendly and provide a pleasant service. However, since there are only two staff members who handle all the cooking and ordering, you may feel like you have to wait a long time when it is busy. The prices are reasonable, but the portions are large and the food was very delicious. 😋

We went to Fischjung today and ordered two fish and chips (pollock). After about a 10-15 minute wait, our order finally arrived. The fish was delicious, but unfortunately, there were only two fairly small pieces. The rest of the bag was filled with soggy (presumably frozen) fries. For €14.80 including a drink, that's not acceptable.

The boss was so kind and the food was really delicious 🍀 I had fish and chips with a fish called Zander, which is not common in Korea. The fries were really tasty and the fish was plump and delicious ㅠㅠ In particular, the garlic sauce was really tasty 🖤 I heard that they make all the sauces themselves, and I could feel the pride they take in the food they make :) I had fries, but while I was sitting down to eat, many customers ordered sweet potato fries! The sweet potato fries must have been really delicious too… Next time I come to Schwerin, I’ll have to try the sweet potato fries!

We were exploring Schwerin on Ascension Day and, looking for something to eat, spontaneously stopped in here with six people. "De Fischjung" is small but nice and offers both indoor and outdoor seating. The food is freshly prepared, and the menu isn't overly extensive. We received a very friendly welcome and immediately felt at home. Along with fried fish and fries, we ordered the pulled salmon burger – the best decision! Super delicious 😋 Everyone really enjoyed it, especially since the portions were generous. We'll be back, plenty hungry 😁

We were specifically looking for something special, new, and different, and found it here with these guys. Very friendly owners. The food was prepared as ordered and requested, and it was ready for pickup quickly. We all thought it tasted delicious and something different. It's just a shame that everything is now self-service and cleared away. The fries had too much salt, the portions were a bit too small, but the prices were reasonable. The restrooms could be improved.

Despite the holiday, the Fischjung was open and the quality of the food was outstanding. The waiting times are sometimes a little longer, but that's because every order is freshly prepared. We had the coastal kebab, the fish/chips as well as the sweet potato fries and a bismark herring fish roll, which was absolutely delicious. Especially the sauces are simply amazing! 🤩 Great little restaurant with opportunities to eat outdoors and a view of the cathedral. Come in and find out ✅️

Fish is prepared here experimentally with passion and dedication... you can also find the hard-to-find vintage sardines here. I like stores where the products are loved and appreciated in their entirety.

This will always be remembered as the place that managed to tame the hunger of a pack of six hungry humans while making sure that they leave not just with their tummies full but also their heart's content as well. From making triple sure that we all are comfortably seated as a group to nailing every dish we order, this humble restaurant will make your heads nod in appreciation from the first bite of food you pick up into your hands served by them. This restaurant wasn’t honestly the first choice for us, but the outdoor decor attracted a few in our group. A quick word-of-mouth review from a fellow customer who was enjoying their meal outside pushed us into the restaurant. “The food is really good. You should try it,” she said with glittering eyes. Dear ‘lady with a partner and a dog,’ please be aware that your one-line review is being immortalized here! Returning to the restaurant, I would heavily recommend the fish & chips. A special mention for the dips they serve with the food. A must-have and must-visit to your Schwerin list.

Oh my gosh- we loved our fish and chips at De Fischjung! I was a bit hesitant to go to a fish restaurant at first because I haven’t found any great fish places in Germany, but I felt very optimistic once we stepped into De Fischjung. Everything looked fresh and clean and there was a very nice display of ingredients and offering behind the glass counter. Also the restaurant smelled fresh and clean- not greasy or fishy so you know they are very conscientious and professional. A happy surprise was the lovely indoor dining room- it was lovely! Dark and cozy with some subtle references to the sea. It definitely had a French bistro vibe with individual tables illuminated by mini table lamps. Lastly- the fish and chips were great- we chose the seelachs (pollock) option. The portion size was great and the three pieces of fish had a nice light and crispy coating - I usually remove the outside of battered fried fish after a couple bites, but their coating was yummy. Their pommes/ chips were also very yummy- hot, thickly cut chips that were nicely salted and perfectly fried. The fish and chips also included a lemony aioli/ tarter sauce- again I usually don’t eat much sauce because it’s too heavy or boring, but this was very tasty on the fish and the chips! I also ordered some rhubarb flavored soda , which I’ve been wanting to try as it’s a popular flavor here in Germany. There were a few other beer and soda options available - if Rhubarb is not your thing, but I thought it was tasty and refreshing. If you visit the town of Schwerin- and you’re hungry- go to De Fischjung- they offer a great value and wonderful culinary experience!
