Oh my gosh- we loved our fish and chips at De Fischjung! I was a bit hesitant to go to a fish restaurant at first because I haven’t found any great fish places in Germany, but I felt very optimistic once we stepped into De Fischjung. Everything looked fresh and clean and there was a very nice display of ingredients and offering behind the glass counter. Also the restaurant smelled fresh and clean- not greasy or fishy so you know they are very conscientious and professional. A happy surprise was the lovely indoor dining room- it was lovely! Dark and cozy with some subtle references to the sea. It definitely had a French bistro vibe with individual tables illuminated by mini table lamps. Lastly- the fish and chips were great- we chose the seelachs (pollock) option. The portion size was great and the three pieces of fish had a nice light and crispy coating - I usually remove the outside of battered fried fish after a couple bites, but their coating was yummy. Their pommes/ chips were also very yummy- hot, thickly cut chips that were nicely salted and perfectly fried. The fish and chips also included a lemony aioli/ tarter sauce- again I usually don’t eat much sauce because it’s too heavy or boring, but this was very tasty on the fish and the chips! I also ordered some rhubarb flavored soda , which I’ve been wanting to try as it’s a popular flavor here in Germany. There were a few other beer and soda options available - if Rhubarb is not your thing, but I thought it was tasty and refreshing. If you visit the town of Schwerin- and you’re hungry- go to De Fischjung- they offer a great value and wonderful culinary experience!

The service was friendly and the food was delicious and beautifully prepared. The coastal kebab offered a great mix of classic and unexpected flavors, and the fried fish roll impressed with fresh fish and delicious tartar sauce. The only small point: the sauce could be distributed a little more evenly in both dishes. Overall, a great experience – I’d love to come back!

Delicious and fresh fish for every taste. There are even unique creations like a “coastal kebab”. So if you're in Schwerin, you definitely have to come here.

Absolute insider tip, the potato salad is amazing, nothing with mayonnaise or bacon, completely different and incredibly tasty. The staff is super friendly and the prices are more than reasonable. Always happy when we are in Schwerin. Everything a 10 out of 10

A really nice little fish restaurant. Great atmosphere and really nice staff who, despite being busy, are quick and careful. The food is fresh and very tasty. On request, a little warmer for the little ones. The pulled salmon burger is simply amazing.

Waited almost 40 minutes for the food. Fried fish with fries. Then came a large bag with lots of soft fries and an approx. 7 x 7 cm piece of tail as fried fish. And that for €12.90! Never again.

Best fish sandwich between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea. Crunchy roll, brilliant sauce, fried fish in beer batter. Very friendly "guys" at the counter. That's how you want it.

Super tasty matjes roll (mine is with two fillets), super juicy and neither too sweet nor too salty, just right. There are other delicious options too, I will go here again!

A plate full of potatoes with 10 grams of salad and 50 grams of fatty "fried fish". Only after a complaint was a little more fatty fish and mayonaise added. A pity... You don't really have to do that

Little insider tip in the old town of Schwerin. An El Dorado of the senses for fish lovers. Whether fish rolls, fish & chips, fish kebab, burgers, soups, fries ...gladly again

Food itself was great. In terms of quality, no fast food restaurant in the region can compare: lettuce was crisp, tomatoes and cucumbers were fresh and the flatbread was freshly baked. The fish was also very tasty. BUT: Since you can practically watch the preparation live, I didn't like one thing: the colleague who was doing the checkout was preparing the food at the same time, without washing his hands in between. (After all, money passes through many hands without being purified.). Besides, he bit his fingernails. (But the seating area, toilet & the visible area of ​​the counter were all very clean).

An absolute tip for fish fans is this cute little snack bar! There are fish sandwiches or fish and chips to hand or to eat directly there. Inside there are three small tables with space for around 12 people. When the weather is nice, there are also tables in the historic pedestrian zone and invite you to linger and relax. Everything was fresh and delicious for us. There were fries, fried fish rolls and fish 'n chips, with the fish being ecologically clean zander from local fisheries. Everything was very delicious. The two guys behind the counter were also very friendly and authentic. I can only recommend this "bude" to everyone and if I'm in Germany's smallest state capital again, I'll definitely eat there again!

Small shop with a few seats inside and outside. Great staff, relaxed and really nice. We went there twice during our short stay in Schwerin because it was so delicious. The best fried fish and also the freshly made rolls provided a treat for the palate. Thanks for that! A must for fish fans.

We ordered the sampler dish and were amazed with the way the fish were made. We loved the warmth service from the staff and excellent food. You won’t be disappointed.

Our visit to Schwerin became a real highlight when we discovered this delightful shop via Google Maps! The warm welcome and the extremely polite service immediately put a smile on our faces. Despite our late arrival just before closing time, we were warmly welcomed and were able to enjoy the delicious treats. The food was absolutely fantastic and I wish I had tried more of it! We are already looking forward to our next visit to Schwerin and will 100% stop by again. A big thank you for this wonderful experience!

I was here for the first time on March 12th, based on a recommendation. And I didn't regret it. The food was delicious and the prices are really humane. The staff is also commendable.

Today we ate a super tasty “MobyDick” and the Kibbelinge. The first time we came here spontaneously, today we came here specifically. It is simply a sight in itself. You have to experience them to be believed. Always my pleasure. It's worth going to Schwerin for that alone.

We visited when the restaurant was nearly closing and the staff had packed the fresh fish in the back fridge. But they were so nice they unpacked everything and proceeded to cook for us. The food was phenomenal, so deeply tasty, moist and tender. As the restaurant was closing we were the only people in the restaurant. It would have been better during busier times

Super tasty and sometimes very creative fish dishes. Cozy, but not so much space. But you can also order everything to take away. We recommend.

Extraordinary concept! In the evening there is a special menu with selected dishes and compositions at normal, acceptable prices and excellent quality. Two cooks and a waitress pamper up to 18 people in the evenings. At lunchtime there are street sales with various fish dishes and fish sandwiches, comparatively cheap and proven to be of good quality, all homemade. Unfortunately, a place in the restaurant costs a surcharge. We come back there every time we visit Schwerin!

Ja, man muss warten, aber dafür bekommt man in Topqualität ein frisch zubereitetes Fischbrötchen oder wie in unserem Fall einen Matjes- und Küstendöner. Definitiv eine Empfehlung!!!

Eine tolle Idee ist der Fischdöner. Sehr lecker mit geräuchertem Lachs, Cocktail Sauce und viel Dönergemüse im Brötchen. Top geschmeckt!
