I'm not really one for eating at train stations, airports, etc., but I pass by here often and thought I'd give it a try...and I was very pleasantly surprised. The ambiance is great, the service was very friendly, my Jägerschnitzel was very tasty and a large portion, and the beer was also drinkable... That's why it gets full marks 👍

I was stranded overnight in Frankfurt due to a train delay and happened upon this restaurant – and was absolutely pleasantly surprised! I really wouldn't have expected such a good schnitzel at a train station. Crispy, tender, and perfectly seasoned – it would have been a really good meal even away from the station. Friendly service, fair prices, and a pleasant atmosphere. I'd gladly go back!

Ah, this was really decent! Got a very legitimate steak. The Frankfurt train station is a bit gritty in general but this is the nicest place to sit down there.

My friend and I went to this restaurant hoping to get some soup because we were both feeling unwell. The posted opening time was 8:00 AM, but when we arrived, the shop was still closed. Initially, we didn’t mind waiting. However, when I politely asked the staff member (possibly the owner) about the opening time, his response was unnecessarily rude and dismissive. He sarcastically asked, “Is the door open?” We said, “No,” and he replied, “Well, then the shop isn’t open,” in a very arrogant and condescending tone. His attitude was completely uncalled for. A more respectful response—or even simply allowing us to wait inside—would have made a world of difference. After this interaction, I no longer feel comfortable trusting this place. Basic courtesy should be a given, especially in customer service. Very disappointing.

Highly recommended! The regular schnitzel came in an XXL version and stretched from edge to edge of the plate. It also tasted great. Great value for money. The cheese spaetzle was delicious, but unfortunately a bit small. I'd definitely order it again!

A very pleasant, quiet place to linger near Frankfurt Central Station. Really good German cuisine with very friendly staff. And for sports fans, football matches, etc. are broadcast. No uninvited guests are allowed in here either.

Visited in May 2025. I ordered schnitzel, chicken salad, and beer! It was my first meal since arriving in Germany, so I was very satisfied. They said sharing was allowed, so we shared one between two people, but we were so full we couldn't finish it! Soccer was playing on the TV inside the restaurant. It's located inside the station, but it was a little difficult to find using a map...

Just wanted to quickly eat something before rushing off to my hotel. Service was stellar and fast, food was excellent. Generous portion, fresh salad with a lovely dressing! Recommended!

Wasn't allowed to charge my phone even though we were customers and there were 6 people there. A phone charge costs cents, which is really embarrassing.

I've already tasted the taste of Figlmuller in Vienna, so I'm going to be strict with the schnitzel. It's pretty tasty, but just average. However, it was big, so it might be good if you're hungry.

Amazingly good food. Considering it's located near the main train station, you'd expect everything to be geared toward walk-up customers, but no, everything was just right: fair prices and good food. Ate there twice.

The food (currywurst) was good. The service was very friendly and attentive. The tables were clean. Unfortunately, the seats are made of fabric and very stained. This, combined with the Frankfurt train station environment, seemed rather off-putting to me. The police operation and arrest taking place right next door, clearly visible through the large glass pane, provided a bizarre-looking supporting program.

I was here last Saturday and was very satisfied. The team was great, and both the food and drinks were excellent. And a special thanks to Katharina for the song request (Texas - Prayer For You), as that song wasn't available on any other jukebox in Frankfurt. With that in mind, see you soon :)

Perfect for a stop between two trains or before reaching the airport.

Never enter at this place, or enter if you want to get almost beaten and attacked by a hostile Bartender. I usually used to go there almost every day for asking an omelet to go. And suddenly because I was late to ask for it, the Bartender thrown me out of the place. I almost had to call the cops. This place has lost at least 350 euros per month, because I used to make this order almost daily. And all because of a very 100% German "clever" bartender, that almost attacked me because I am not 100% German blood.

Since I didn't receive a response to my email, I'm writing again: I would like to complain about a very disappointing visit to your restaurant on July 17, 2026, at lunchtime. Unfortunately, the quality of service in no way met my expectations for a fine dining experience. The server in charge was noticeably loud and inattentive, even though it was quiet at lunchtime. The wait for our order was unusually long, without any explanation or apology. Furthermore, the employee coughed and sniffled throughout our entire visit without visibly washing her hands or observing any hygiene precautions – which is extremely concerning from a health perspective. In addition, the waitress smelled strongly of stale smoke, which further worsened the overall impression. Her behavior seemed unprofessional and not customer-oriented. At the end of the visit, I felt that the amount I had paid was too much, but at that point, I just wanted to leave. I'm very disappointed and hope you take this feedback seriously and take appropriate measures to prevent such incidents in the future. A restaurant visit should not only be culinary delights, but also impeccable in terms of hygiene and service quality.

Convenient site in the train station. Quiet atmosphere, which is surprising, considering its location. Waitress was friendly and prompt, and did not rush me to finish my meal.

Friendly staff, well-protected from the train station yet close. The food is absolutely solid, and the prices are fair.

Accidentally saved my day. Had to change trains in the middle of a long journey (7 hours behind me, 4 to go) and went in for lunch; got a big plate of Spätzle with a large salad on the side. The 4 remaining hours of my journey turned into 9 because of problems on the route; was dead on my legs at the end, but at least not hungry, so thanks! Nice staff too.

We ordered via Lieferando yesterday. 95 euros for the following dishes: - Wirtshaus Salad - Side Salad - Handkäs (a traditional German cheese) - Goulash with Spätzle (spaetzle) - Frankfurter Schnitzel - Kaiserschmarrn (a pancake with pancakes) We've never ordered from Lieferando for the aforementioned price before and had correspondingly high expectations. If you charge such prices, you have to deliver quality. Delivery was super fast. Almost the fastest provider for this quantity that we've ordered from. A big plus! Salads were good and fresh. Dressing was delicious! Handkäs (2 pieces) were actually just marinated in oil. Vinegar and seasoning were almost completely missing. Cheese fell apart when cut into it. There was plenty of bread, but it was dry (really very dry, almost hard). Unfortunately, the first dish was a failure. Goulash tasted good. Good consistency. Unfortunately, the spätzle were really not good compared to the delicious goulash. I assume it was a ready-made product from METRO/Selgros. If it was fresh, then unfortunately it wasn't good. Schnitzel with fried potatoes and green sauce: The product was generally delicious. Great breading with a crunch. The fried potatoes were freshly made, and the sauce was also delicious. The schnitzel was as thin as possible, which made it very dry in some places. Nevertheless, the dish was convincing. The Kaiserschmarrn was delicious! The fact that the sauce was a ready-made product didn't detract from the overall quality, even if the price of €12.00 is quite high. Personally, we would have appreciated cranberries for that price. Such a small amount of product shouldn't hurt. Overall, we weren't convinced for the price. We expected more. Of course, quality is lost when ordering takeaway, no question. But ultimately, it was the taste that wasn't convincing. We eat out often, even at higher prices. However, the Wirtshaus am Bahnhof ranks lower in this price range. What a pity... The menu was really promising. On Lieferando, the ratings at the time of ordering were below 4.0 (my rating was 3.6). Accordingly, we share the overall impression.

The waitress from the weekend was extremely unprofessional; I was surprised that service could be so bad.

If you are short on time and are close to the main train station, this place can be a convenient option for a quick lunch. That's why I decided to drop in here - among the many establishments at the train station, this one seemed to serve real German cuisine. We ordered potato soup with sausages (€8.90) and Wiener schnitzel with fried potatoes (€15.80) - both dishes were delicious, and the service was friendly and fast. In this regard, the restaurant was a pleasant surprise. However, the atmosphere in the establishment leaves much to be desired: the room has a strong echo, the background music is more annoying than it creates a mood. And the train station area is not the most cozy place, especially if you have time to get out to the city center. If you are in a hurry and are looking for a hearty lunch near the train station, this restaurant is quite suitable.

This was my first time here, sorry, I felt like I was being a nuisance as a guest. Not a friendly word, not a smile. The food was delicious. Nonexistent customer service. After my phone was dead, I politely asked if I could charge it for a moment. They didn't allow it. I've never experienced that before. Even if it cost something, it would have been fine. But in this day and age, that's a no-go. I won't go there again.

Was recently for breakfast in Frankfurt. Delicious sausage and a liter of binding.

Loving Wertin, well bumped. Wonderful latte...mmmm Super deliciously fried and yet juicy chicken steaks, great taste. Big portion. Salad plates were also tasty. I had wonderful Champion Sose and fried potatoes (they were ok but fermented a bit too far) Thoroughly enjoyed the lovely meal. Close to the tracks. So very accessible. Enough space for my luggage I can drive on in peace and still be hungry for another six hours to Vienna😉 Unfortunately I live too far away (in Holland).

Food is okay. Service was a disaster and very unfriendly. At first no card was brought to us. We were subsequently told we might have to wait over 40 minutes. After all the waiting, the food arrived. They then asked for ketchup twice and didn't bring ketchup at all. It's actually a shame because the food wasn't that bad.

So the service wasn't as bad as described. Nothing to complain about, delicious food (pepper schnitzel) and good beer…

If you don't care about the waitress's arrogance, you can eat well and drink a beer here. Unfortunately, service here is subpar.

We just wanted to enjoy a little break with friends and have a drink, but unfortunately we were greeted by rude staff. The highlight of the bad experience was being kicked out just because we politely asked to be treated with respect. Those who are unable to be friendly and smile may want to consider working in the hospitality industry.

The food was good and quickly at the table. If you don't have much time to wait, perfect. Service very friendly. It's decorated quite nicely. But the drink prices are crazy. 4.90 for a 0.33 bottle of Pepsi. Already very steep.

Probably the best choice in the train station. Welcoming staff and atmosphere. Typical German fare, I got the chicken steak with mushrooms. Careful not to die by the entry to outside, there’s no door just plastic drapes and the chill hits spots nearby.

This is a terrible restaurant. The food is terrible, the service is rude, and the attitude is bad. I don’t recommend anyone to come here to spend money to feel comfortable. They would rather go to a fast food restaurant than eat here.

Unfortunately a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. I ordered Kaiserschmarrn, but the dish arrived burnt. Even though I returned it, I still had to pay because the waitress said she would have to cover the cost otherwise and she was almost in tears. I will definitely never go here again.

It's great that there is something like this in the main station! The food was super tasty, beautifully presented and fresh. Large selection - everyone will find something here. The atmosphere is cozy and nicely decorated. Everything clean and modern. The employees are friendly and accommodating. Definitely coming back.

Great pub with lots of choice for young and old.

In addition to freshly tapped beer, the inn in the main train station offers an extensive menu with more rustic Hessian dishes. It took almost half an hour for us to take our drinks order. The only waitress walked past us several times without clearing the table of the previous guests' dishes. Unfortunately, after taking the order, the drinks didn't come quickly. Several minutes passed before the food order was taken. However, the schnitzels we ordered were really tasty and the portion size was appropriate for the slightly higher price. The toilets, on the other hand, were in an unacceptable condition, the area with the sink that was shared by men and women was completely filthy and the trash can was not only overflowing, but the towel paper was on the floor all the way into the guest room.

My previous review was deleted by this restaurant, which I find disappointing given the unacceptable behavior towards customers. Therefore I would like to share again my negative experience in this restaurant. I would give 0 stars if that were possible. As a tourist, I definitely cannot recommend this restaurant to black travelers. The experience my friend and I had here was shocking and unacceptable. After a simple ordering mistake - we ordered a cappuccino and received an apple spritzer - the boss immediately reacted aggressively. Instead of calmly fixing the problem, he physically attacked my friend. Such behavior towards guests is completely unprofessional and disrespectful.

Good home cooking, the food is served quickly and has a very good price-performance ratio. In general, the inn is very rustic and you feel like you've been transported back to the 90s. Only the dirty seats (upholstery) are unsightly.

€6.50 for a medlar (typical Frankfurt schnapps) borders on a rip-off. I'm never coming back. Mice also run back and forth, but no wonder if all the doors are wide open. Ambiance also strange, Eminem in a pub. 😅🫣

An absolute gem among taverns! I recently visited the pub and was amazed by the warm, welcoming atmosphere and excellent service. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating, and you immediately feel welcome. The menu offers a wonderful selection of traditional German dishes, prepared with great attention to detail. I particularly recommend the schnitzel, which was perfectly fried and incredibly tender. The ambience of the inn is authentic and cozy – exactly how you would expect a traditional German inn to be. I had the pleasure of visiting the inn recently and absolutely loved it! The food was a real culinary delight. The menu offers a wonderful selection of traditional dishes. The side dishes, such as the homemade potato salad and sauerkraut, were also delicious and rounded off the taste experience. The ambience of the inn is simply enchanting. You immediately feel comfortable and welcome. The rustic interior with wooden furniture, traditional decorations and cozy lighting creates a welcoming and authentic atmosphere. The service also deserves special praise. The staff was extremely friendly, attentive and accommodating. Our order was taken quickly and the food came to the table in a reasonable time. In addition, we were always served with a smile and felt well looked after. Overall, I can warmly recommend the inn. A true insider tip for anyone looking for excellent food, a cozy atmosphere and first-class service. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

(28 Jul 2024) I have eaten here a few times over the last couple of years, I am not sure when it stopped being Sam's and became Das Wirtshaus, except that I never went in when it was Sam's and have really only known the place being what it is now. I have generally only good things to say about this place, quite cheap, (Bowl of soup or Goulash, with break & a drink under 10€ in Central Frankfurt), quite a lot of space to sit, a godsend when it's been utterly freezing outside, generally a nice place to dine alone and watch the world pass by, I'm never troubled by any of the homeless, etc. I'm not expecting anything too much from the soup, except that it (a Vegetable, a Potato or a meaty Goulash) is always thick and hearty and served with free bread. There's a large TV up on one wall, but the sound doesn't dominate, nor does the music when it is on. The staff are nice and speak good English and German. Sure there are 100s more places to eat in Frankfurt and much classier dining, but generally this is one of the more comfortable places to eat in Frankfurt station.

Uninvited people will be removed immediately and effectively. Unfortunately, this is a necessary evil at Frankfurt main station. The restaurant is a pleasant and safe place with decent service and decent cuisine. Clear recommendation for all decent people.

The saying “better than not” doesn’t apply here. The schnitzel was picture perfect. In hindsight, I would have been better off getting on the transport towards Switzerland hungry. An eraser would probably have been more delicate. At least the iced tea was good, probably because it wasn't homemade. I'm done, inshalla.

Unfortunately you can't give 0 stars. By far the worst pub I have ever been to in all of Germany. I have never met a person as unfriendly as this waitress in my life. This certainly has NOTHING lost in the catering industry. He was VERY disrespectful and rude to us throughout. The drinks were brought to us rudely and carelessly. Any reference to the type of service was only met with even more disrespect. I would never in my life enter this “Wirtshaus Hauptbahnhof” again. I would rather go to a kebab shop with standing room. I wouldn't recommend this store even to my worst enemy.

I visited on the night I arrived in Germany. I had German beer and schnitzel. The beer was sweet and not bitter, and the schnitzel was crispy and very tasty. Credit cards can also be used. This is a German restaurant that you can feel free to stop by.

Unfortunately we didn't get around to ordering because the staff threatened to throw us out. The reason for this: after we got the card, we should order directly (3 people and only 2 cards). After 3 minutes we are asked to order. Because we weren't sure yet, we wanted to have a moment. The gentleman didn't like that and called DB Security to throw us out of the store. I've never experienced anything like that.

I recommend coming here if you have limited time and have to stay in the main station, but if you have more time, leave all the addicts and beggars behind and go somewhere in the city. The restaurant itself also does not have a great atmosphere, it’s very echoey, the music is annoying, but the service and the food were pretty good. We had the potatoe soup with sausages (8.90€) and the Wiener schnitzel with roasted potatoes (15,80€). There are lots of food options in the train station (like a lot) but I went to this one because it seemed to have the most authentic German food there (saying that as a German). Overall it’s good but not great!

On April 24th at 6:06 pm I was at this location and an unfortunate incident occurred where I and others witnessed a manager verbally abusing an employee and firing that person very publicly for all guests to see and the worker was visibly upset and crying. I don't know what happened here that led to it there, but honestly it doesn't matter. There was no excuse for this type of degrading treatment of a staff member and I truly hope that this type of degrading treatment of staff at this facility is addressed. I would hate to return to a facility like this if I knew something like this was happening here!

Cozy inn right in the main train station. The food was good - certainly nothing special, but perfectly fine for a dinner on the way home. I had the Käsespätzle and I've had much worse ones in my life. ;-) Service was a bit scatterbrained, but also very young and shy. Apparently new staff? But very friendly and everything went pretty quickly. In contrast to other reviews here, the bill was completely flawless and correct. Overall, a nice break from commuting, especially considering what the station district otherwise looks like. It's really like a little world in itself. You don't necessarily expect a real restaurant with decent food at Frankfurt train station.

Very comfortable and well maintained bar at the end of platform 24. Considering the dodgy environment in and around the station this is am oasis. Friendly service. Comfortable seating. Large screens to watch the game. Reasonably priced beer. I enjoyed the local Binding pils and the Schofferhoffer wheat beer. Both very good. Much better than a lot of bars in the vicinity.

Good beer and poured quickly. Unfortunately just the wrong one. Because a light yeast wheat beer is not a light pilsner. It still tasted good.

Unfortunately it was too late and all the schnitzels were already sold out, but there were still delicious meatballs with potato salad and green sauce. When there is a trade fair, you can understand that if things go haywire. But the service was very nice.

Nice restaurant - but slow service. The food we ordered came quickly, but then nothing worked.

Where to start… 😅 The service was just not ready yet to really serve 4 hungry guests. And I mean guests in general… the dear lady was slightly in over her head with just basic necessities and order of food and offering ketchup to fries… But oh well, we came for food. Then the food arrived and each plate was more dire than the one before. Even a very simple dish as Currywurst was butchered into a dry mess. We were hungry and tired and changing the venue would lead to more discussion, we were not willing to have. So we ate, but we did not enjoy it.

Wir sind hier abends nach unserer Ankunft in Frankfurt noch eingekehrt, da wir keine Lust hatten uns noch ewig in der Stadt ein Lokal zu suchen. Dafür was das Wirtshaus ganz in Ordnung. Da nicht wirklich viel los war haben wir gleich einen Platz bekommen. Vom Ambiente her ist das Lokal okay. Den unteren Bereich finde ich nicht ganz so einladend. Der Raum wirkt irgendwie kühl und man schaut auf die geöffneten Türen der Küche und dem Zuweg zu den Toiletten. Das dürfte gern etwas einladender sein 😉. Auf der Speisekarte sind jetzt nicht wirklich viele Gerichte, aber es reicht vollkommen aus 😉 Unsere Bedienung war sehr nett und unser Essen kam auch recht schnell. Ich hatte eine Gulaschsuppe, die geschmacklich gut war, aber leider etwas zu flüssig. Ansonsten war der Rest des Essens auch ganz okay. Für den schnellen Hunger kann man hier auf jeden Fall mal hin.

Essen lecker, preiswert. Getränke geht so. Bedienung freundlich. Toiletten nicht so dolle. Um während der Wartezeit ordentlich zu essen, zu empfehlen.
