The Waldtraut Restaurant is an excellent way to reward yourself after a walk or hike. The food was delicious, and the three of us were completely satisfied. The staff was friendly, and the food was served promptly. Children can run around freely there. Parking is available nearby. The excellent value for money is particularly noteworthy. I would happily recommend the Waldtraut!

A very nice day-trip restaurant with a good selection on the menu. The schnitzel with Frankfurter sauce (a new experience for me as a Bavarian) and fried potatoes was perfect. The prices aren't exactly cheap, but they're reasonable considering the portion size and quality. Very nice rustic ambiance, including a lovely outdoor area that's also child-friendly. Parking is subject to a fee (the first hour is free, wouldn't be enough), but it's also easy to get there by public transport.

The food is but bad but pricey for what you get. The service is often overwhelmed and tends to forget things. The location is awesome though

After a lovely walk, enjoy a delicious tarte flambée with chanterelle mushrooms and a wheat beer from the brewery. That's what makes it fun!

We went to dinner with several people. The pasta with chanterelle mushrooms was underseasoned and very bland. The chanterelle mushrooms with bread dumplings (two small bread dumplings the size of small plums) weren't great either. The schnitzel with chanterelle mushrooms was also very bland and not seasoned. You'd expect a bit more for the price!

Good but the prices are a bit excessive

Delicious food right below the Feldberg. A good starting point for hikes and a place to stop afterward. You can sit inside and outside.

We had salad with chanterelle mushrooms and meatballs with fried potatoes and chanterelle cream sauce, both of which were generous portions and very tasty. The homemade lemonade with orange, ginger, and turmeric was also delicious. A lovely place for excursions and hikers.

Very, very tasty German cuisine. The fries are crispy and not so potato-like. Super good! Even when it's busy, it moves quite quickly. There are plenty of seats outside, shaded from the sun.

I was pleasantly surprised that the prices were still fair in such a busy place. My Kaiserschmarn, a really large portion, with delicious vanilla ice cream and roasted almonds, was very flavorful and much better than what you'd get elsewhere for the same price. Thank you very much, and I recommend it to anyone who can still truly enjoy something like this today!

I love the coffee and the cake was perfect

Very friendly staff, the food was delicious, and the ambiance isn't bad either, especially if you're with a few people. There's also plenty of parking and outdoor lighting.

Four of us went for dinner and were once again served very well and friendly. The food was very good and plentiful. We served schnitzel with fried potatoes and chanterelle mushrooms, cheese spaetzle, and meatloaf with chanterelle mushrooms, each with salad and a large hamburger. For dessert, we had Kaiserschmarrn (sweet pancakes) with apple sauce. We'd be happy to come back.

I always enjoy coming here for dinner. The staff is super friendly (our waitress, Chrissi), and the food is delicious. You can take a lovely walk after dinner. How long is up to you! 🤓

I went there with my mother on Whit Monday for asparagus, which was delicious but a bit expensive. Unfortunately, parking is subject to a fee and is crowded on weekends, so it's better to go during the week; the restaurant is also a bit quieter then.

We wanted to pop in for coffee and cake at 4:30 with two adults and two children. It's always been nice so far. After being told off by a waiter outside to sit somewhere else, we went in and asked for a table. No hello, or did we have a reservation? No, we didn't, "yes, that's bad" was the blunt reply. The fact that you need a table for a coffee 1.5 hours before dinner was new to us. When we said that we could go somewhere else if it was too much trouble, we were told "this is the table or somewhere else". We've never experienced anything like that before. For service you'd rather go somewhere else.

Nice place to take a break after a bike ride

Delicious food, excellent service (for a corporate event), a wonderful location, and plenty of parking. However, you need coins to pay for the parking. A thousand thanks to Christine and her team. I highly recommend the restaurant. A must!

Delicious dishes in traditional Hessian style, but also with a modern twist. Friendly and quick service. Good draft beer from the Oberurseler Brauhaus. Indoor and outdoor seating available. We'd be happy to return!

Been here for the first time in a long time. The service was very friendly and helpful, despite the full house. The drinks and food came quickly. The food was delicious and the portions were absolutely sufficient. We'll be happy to come back.

Great authentic German kitchen with a wide selection of food

In my 90 reviews so far, I've only written two negative reviews – this is the third. Rightly so. €11.50 for a portion of fries that my 10-year-old son can do better at home if he makes them himself. The preparation seemed careless and was obviously rushed – so it's no wonder the taste wasn't at all convincing. The portion was large, but unfortunately, that's not enough for the price and the disappointing taste. For €11.50, I would have expected at least two portions – or at least one that tasted good. All in all, I can only give one star. More would be absolutely unjustified.

We stopped in after our hike and had a spontaneous dinner for four people. Fast, friendly service, who were also able to answer any questions. The Frankfurter Grüne Sauce, sausage salad, and handkäs (traditional hand cheese) were all delicious. Enjoyed it with an Äppler (apple) in a shady spot. What more could you need? A great day trip destination 👍🏻

The last time I was there, everything was actually fine. The staff was friendly, the food was okay. And it's a great restaurant for a day trip. But now they've decided to exclude low-income families with their prices. A schnitzel costs over €20, salads, etc., over €15, and you can't even get something good and inexpensive like handkäs for under €10 anymore. When I go out to eat here with a family of four, I can't get anything less than €80-100. Simply outrageous and sad.

Unfortunately, not everything is homemade, and the prices are quite inflated. A simple cordon bleu with fries costs €24, and when you cut into it, all the very runny cheese flows out of the schnitzel like water. I won't need that again.

I can only recommend it! Beautiful outdoor area.

The Kaiserschmarrn is brilliant

Unfortunately, we weren't greeted very warmly yesterday. We came out of the forest a little chilly and wanted to enjoy coffee and cake in the sun and warm up. We were asked to sit only at set tables. That's perfectly fine – but a different tone would have made us feel more welcome. The coffee and cake were still delicious. I'll definitely redeem my Barometer voucher here again. The food that was carried past us smelled delicious.

There's no vegan milk substitute. Accordingly, there's probably no dedicated vegan menu either. Disappointing.

After our hike, we stopped in spontaneously and were lucky to get a free table outside. We were delighted by the regional beers on offer, and the orders at the next table all looked delicious. Friendly, attentive staff and the natural atmosphere make our stay here even more enjoyable. Advance reservations are recommended for larger groups.

First of all, I've been a restaurateur myself for over 25 years and I know what I'm writing. The service, if you can call it that, was abysmal. The tone was such that you immediately notice the person just doesn't want guests. At the same time, we were told in the same tone that they were closing in an hour. In my restaurants, I greeted guests at 11 p.m. the same way I greeted those arriving at 6 p.m.! Of course you get annoyed, but you don't take it out on the guests! And it was 3 p.m. Drinks delivery was OK, except that my shandy wasn't a shandy, but rather Fanta. Then we asked several times for an ashtray, but we didn't get one until the end. When ordering food, I was again told in that friendly tone that they were out of Cordon Bleu. I then asked for the schnitzel with fried potatoes, but I got fries. When I pointed this out to the waiter, he said I hadn't ordered that. All four of them said, "Yes, I do," and a short time later he brought me fried potatoes... what can I say? In short, schnitzel, ready-made fried potatoes... In our kitchen, we always said that the fried potatoes weren't thirsty anymore, the plate was covered in grease. The Kaiserschmarrn (smothered pancakes) wasn't homemade either. The price-performance ratio here is anything but adequate. The food at the train station mission is better.

Very nice place to stop after a hike or a walk. Despite not having a reservation, we got a nice seat. The menu is well laid out and vegetarians can also find delicious dishes. The selection of cakes is also delicious. Definitely again.

It was pretty full on Sunday, which definitely affects the quality. Staff almost non-existent, at least not mentally, completely disoriented. Dishes from previous guests are put away very late, rubbish/leftovers on and under the table are not put away at all!!! Unforgivable! Does it look better in the kitchen? Waiting time, we were almost forgotten, how different. The fried potato was braised, the schnitzel was mediocre at best, the fries had no taste at all. The citizens (according to the boys) said it was very good, the salad was crunchy and delicious. A snack bar would get more stars. A restaurant at this price level clearly has to offer more.

Great excursion destination in the Taunus. The food is very tasty and the prices are sometimes very exclusive. You can sit in the sun and then go hiking in the Taunus. The service is polite and nice.

I had cheeseburger and a cake. Cheeseburger was pretty generic. I cannot recommend unfortunately. It is edible but not much more than that. Cake was pretty nice, though.

The food here was really tasty. Good German cuisine. Unfortunately the prices were a bit on the upper limit. It tasted very good and the portions were decent. The ambience is very classically based on a modern tavern. The service staff was very friendly, but we had to wait a long time for the food and there was a bit of confusion with the orders. However, I can ignore that, something like that can always happen. I'd love to come back when I'm in the area again.

Great experience at Waltraut – highly recommended! The Waltraut is a real insider tip! The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxing evening. The staff is super friendly and attentive, you immediately feel at home. The menu offers a great selection of delicious dishes – fresh, creative and prepared with a lot of love. I especially loved the dessert! The selection of drinks is also great, whether cocktails, wine or something non-alcoholic. If you are looking for a nice place for an enjoyable evening, you should definitely visit Waltraut. I'll definitely be back!

In addition to the Fuchstanz, the Waldtraut offers a welcome stop to fortify yourself during hikes. The food meets the expectations of a restaurant. As a hiking group you should definitely make a reservation.

Once again we stopped by with friends after hiking. As always, it was very crowded, but we sat outside despite the cold. Service was attentive and quick. However, I had ordered a minced steak and it consisted of an indefinable reddish mass that could not be identified even after I asked. (It couldn't have been meat) but I was told "everything was as usual" 🙃 But the fried potatoes were quite good! Thanks for the coffee as compensation 👌 I think we'll come back anyway!

We visited the restaurant with seven people, four adults and three children. It is in a good location with direct and sufficient public parking spaces, but these are chargeable until 6 p.m. There is a climbing wall in the restaurant where the children can keep themselves busy while you wait for your food. The waiters are always polite and competent, and there are enough of them for the size of the restaurant. Now about the food: The food we ordered was there after just 20 minutes. Now the quality can be argued. Can high-quality food (forest mushroom schnitzel, fried vegetables, fries, spaetzle...) be ready after just 20 minutes? At least it has to be of high quality considering the prices. Because for €7.10 for a side salad, €35 for a rum steak, €24 for a schnitzel with mushrooms, it has to be high quality. I also absolutely don't understand why you have to charge €6.10 for a small portion of fries. Maybe because this is the most frequently ordered dish when there are children? I don't know it. In terms of taste, you can't say anything negative about the food. It was tasty, but it didn't necessarily blow our socks off. It should also be mentioned, since the restaurant is busy, that you should not occupy a table for longer than two hours.

Very tasty home cooking with an additional weekly menu (currently kale). Staff exceptionally nice and quick! Prices fair with solid portion sizes. Quite a lot of vegetarian options to choose from. Gladly again.

I can really warmly recommend Waldtraut. Everything is just right here: the food, the service and the ambience – a truly successful experience. I will definitely come back!
