Unfortunately, our expectations for New Year's Eve were not met. The food came before the drinks and the aperitif, but the question of whether to take the food back could no longer save this faux pas. If the food is on the table a short time after ordering, it certainly cannot be said to have been freshly prepared. A Viennese veal schnitzel for €25 is not ready in 5 minutes. But it was tasty and there's nothing wrong with the food itself. The rehab ragout was also very tasty. But unfortunately the first impression often counts.

Everything great! Very friendly service that takes care of you personally and competently. Nice ambience in two old half-timbered houses, modern and yet cozy. Very tasty food, Austrian. We really had Wiener Schnitzel and pork schnitzel - both great. Good portions, reasonable prices. Better pre-order! Is usually fully booked.

To put it briefly: excellent! We were there on December 26th. in the evening with 16 people as guests. Despite being at full capacity, the service was always friendly, attentive and quick. The food was delicious as usual, the price/performance ratio was more than reasonable and almost unbeatable. Thanks to the nails, we had a wonderful Boxing Day with the family. A clear recommendation from us!

We have regularly visited Nägel, but our current visit was disappointing. The food was okay: schnitzel was still very good, the accompanying potatoes were really dry, not seasoned, they were much better. The goose was very salty and tasted good warmed up three times. Nevertheless, the service took notice and offered a free dessert. However, the waiters' overwhelm was noticeable throughout the evening. For the current prices and the service, we will no longer visit the restaurant regularly, which is a shame.

We had breakfast with you for the first time today. (I was invited for my birthday) We had to wait 50 minutes until our order came to the table. Coffee was ordered in advance and here too we had to wait 30 minutes. I might have been able to understand this time if the restaurant had been fully occupied. I won't come back for breakfast even though the food was great. You never have to wait that long for dinner. Too bad 😞

We were so looking forward to the goose dinner. Unfortunately, there were different sized portions for several people, all for the same price of 30 euros, of course. In addition, the food was not at all to our taste due to a green spice that was scattered across the entire menu. Why do people do this everywhere? I give the 2 stars in the end result for the attentive service, even though it was very busy.

Very, very nice location. Warm, cozy atmosphere and very courteous, friendly staff. My first visit, breakfast. My next visit, dinner, is already being planned. If, as I assume, it is as good as the breakfast was, then all I can say is: perfect! Sure, the price is a bit higher, but the quality is worth it.

We had our wedding reception there last year. Everything went great, it was beautifully decorated and we were immediately advised on a few wishes and ideas we had and a great result was presented. The price was also completely reasonable and the staff was very friendly!

The best schnitzel I have ever eaten, and the homemade pumpkin risotto is also very good. Highly recommended.

Authentic restaurant with friendly service. We still got a seat on a Sunday without a reservation (had to wait a short time) and ate very well.

A very nice atmosphere in this well-equipped location with a great team and then the great food, very rich selection with a really fantastic taste. It's definitely worth stopping here. If there are larger numbers of people, order in advance. Oh yes, there are no photos because of data protection.

Today's visit to the restaurant, which we had made with family and friends on the occasion of a birthday, was a big disappointment. Most of the dishes were just lukewarm or cold and therefore had to be complained about. A tarte flambée was reheated and still wasn't returned to the table hot. The operator then had it completely rebuilt. Only then was it edible. 3 pizzas were not tasty. They are made with a spelled dough, which in one of the pizzas was so hard that it could not be cut. The pizza was made again, but that didn't improve the taste. The dough is like rye bread, the topping is like a greasy, indefinable something. Frozen pizza from the discount store tastes much better. My son looked in vain for the cheese on the cheese spaetzle; it was more like cream spaetzle. A Kaiserschmarrn had apparently thawed after being frozen and was partly still ice cold. The service tried very hard to keep us satisfied. The stars for service go in their favor. It seems as if the kitchen staff has no insight at all, which is a real disaster for such a traditional restaurant, where we have repeatedly visited in the past and been satisfied. Unfortunately, the discounts granted and the coffee on the house could not reconcile us.

Fine. We will be back. Rice pudding with almond milk was very tasty. Nice service, pizza a la chef, fish soup and Kaiserschmarrn. The latter could have been crosser and caramelized. Soup and pizza are great!

Very friendly and attentive staff. The food, I'll put it this way: in terms of taste, it's borderline must-have the cook has a bad day. Potato salad tasted sour and fermented. Soup bitter and sour with Maggi flavor. Salad too sour. Schnitzel little to no seasoning. I'm sorry, I would have liked to rate it better.

Doner kebab and Fallafeltaschen are recommended, large portions and really tasty. Ambience typical of a kebab shop, unfortunately all the tables had not been wiped down after the previous guest.

Been there three times. The first time it was good, friendly service,... From then on it went downhill. 2nd visit waited almost 1 hour for the drinks, beer was then without foam. Boss sat at the counter and wasn't interested. The food waited almost 2 hours and was only mediocre in taste. On our third visit we were greeted so rudely that we left straight away. For a restaurant that claims to be the best in the area, there's a lot of room for improvement.

We had a wonderful lunch there today. It was extremely tasty and since it was part of the weekly lunch menu, it was also very inexpensive. This restaurant is an absolute recommendation. We'll definitely come back. Thanks!!!

Went for a stroll in town, had some discomfort in my legs and stopped there. It was market day and there was a lot to see on the terrace in front of the house! The service was very quick, incredibly friendly and accommodating, despite many tables being occupied! The little something to eat and the beer came relatively quickly and was very good. The menu is extensive and there is something for everyone, whether young or old. If we are in the area we would love to come back!! PeterPtak

We didn't have much time this afternoon so we decided on the lunch dish. The two dishes corresponded to the price, which was okay. What didn't work at all was the salad that was served with the meal: old, wilted, with stalks, from the day before. As we were leaving the restaurant we saw the fresh version, it looked a lot better. Our impression: Regular guests get the fresh version, but unknown guests can be served the old salad. It's a shame, such a place is not recommended.

Four of us had breakfast today. The waiting time from ordering to serving was almost an hour and then came several minutes apart, so we couldn't eat together. And we only ordered simple breakfast. Cutlery only came upon request. After asking three times, the accompanying orange juice came as a dessert. Really substandard service. Food was okay, nothing special.

Went there recently (not on Hessentag) and got a place outside, so far good, only with the friendliness, I still see room for improvement. E.g. I ordered springs, answer "We don't have" to which I asked why not, answer "Because our supplier hasn't delivered anything yet. Is that enough of an answer?" I think that would be better, even if that was true you could package it differently, so not full points for “service”.

Very nice restaurant with very good food. Staff very nice and friendly. The price-performance ratio is also good, not too overpriced. I ate a pizza there for around 12 euros and drank Almdudler, which was very well chilled. Really a very good choice if you want to go out to eat in Melsungen.

Very quickly served and tasty food.

I was there for lunch with a group, 39 people. We sat on the first floor in a very attractive dining room. The food was brought to the table for all group members so that everyone ate together. I had the tarte flambée which was tasty but a bit dry. When asked about it by the staff, they also gave an explanation: a guest in the group had accidentally taken the flambée I had ordered and now a new one had to be baked in a hurry. As compensation there was an espresso on the house. My companion got the nail pan. Very tasty and legal. Staff was always helpful and very nice. I didn't hear anything negative from other people in the group. Again in Fritzlar, gladly again!!!!

At first we thought it was a tourist trap because it was located right on the market square, but: Great food with fair prices for decent portions, nice service & a nice square around it with what's going on.

No feel-good character. Everything is very hectic. The “boss” seems overwhelmed. The staff does their best, but it's not easy. We waited 11/2 hours for food. We were blamed for moving from outside to inside. But they let us know. Even after half an hour it was still an issue. Criticism is not welcome here. Apart from expenses, nothing happened.

What should I say or how should I describe it? The restaurant - the Nägel - was well attended. After what felt like a long wait, a service came. We ordered 1 cyclist and 1 specialist!!!!! When the waiter brought the drinks he said: A cyclist and a friend. I looked at the waiter perplexed and said that Cola belongs in a special. He looked at the Fanta in surprise and went to get a specialist. It stayed that way!!!! Nobody came anymore!!!! It's amazing!! It wasn't a particularly complicated order either.

Breakfast at the market square. A nice atmosphere. Food, drinks and service very good. The employees were very friendly, helpful and competent. I can recommend it.

Today we visited "das Nägel", the service was okay, the ambience was quite nice, but we didn't like the food that much. Instead of a hollandaise sauce a cheese sauce was brought, when I tried to return it they said it was a hollandaise. Definitely not! The gravy that was served as an alternative tasted “burnt”, as did parts of the meat. Unfortunately, the trout fillets also tasted musty. Unfortunately, the edge of the pizza was also black on one side. All in all: we wouldn't go there again. No recommendation.

Delicious food - best Austrian cuisine!!!

The beautiful menu promises more than expected... The quite good Flädlesuppe was only lukewarm. The waiter's comment was simply "it's fresh out of the pot" - that was all. When after 45 minutes the main courses still hadn't been served, but other guests who came after us already had their food on the table, we took the liberty of asking ourselves whether we would have to wait any longer for our food. The waiter's terse answer was "Why?" Repeated inquiries always resulted in “coming soon”. Only after we decided to pay for the soup and drinks so we could leave without eating did our main courses arrive after 5 minutes. It can always happen that the kitchen doesn't quite keep up or something is forgotten, but the way the service staff handled it, it shouldn't actually happen like that. A pity.

I've known Nagel since it opened. I would have given it 4-5 stars in all categories. Unfortunately, the quality has deteriorated significantly. Service is not unfriendly, but does not meet my minimum expectations. On our last visit 2 weeks ago we had veal schnitzel that smelled and tasted spoiled (sweetly rotten). We complained about it and got a new one that was the same and complained again and had no appetite. There was no funny comment from service, but there was no apology either. The chef should be interested in it the second time at the latest. Unfortunately it didn't appear. We didn't have to pay it. There was also potato salad, which tasted like ready-made potato salad. In our opinion, the typical consistency due to the addition of guar gum and the sour taste of the preservative could be recognized. It seemed like it was just decorated with pumpkin seed oil. The trout was fresh, but very salty including mashed potatoes. Drinks were good. Ambience is still very nice. There are also parasols everywhere outside. However, all in all, I unfortunately cannot recommend it at the moment.

Very unfriendly service. The plates were unclean from below. Cutlery wasn't that clean either. Food wasn't really hot either. Was taken back and heated in the microwave. It used to be better. A pity.

The impression was certainly made by the Hessentag with a lot of guests. The service was attentive and very friendly. The side salad had already seen fresher times. Everything else was okay but fried with a lot of fat.

The food went well, it's just a matter of taste, I had imagined more for a meatball for almost 20 euros than just a small meatball (which improbably shrunk from 250 grams due to the cooking process) and 3 half potatoes (they were large, however). The side salad only came after I requested it and then shortly before the end of the main course, and he wanted to bring the beer I had ordered into the bill (I was able to do without it after half an hour). All in all, it wasn't the day of the Nagel team, maybe next time.

Good restaurant in the middle of the market square. Seating inside and outside. On the occasion of Hesse Day we went there on a recommendation and were not disappointed. Good selection, see map. Nice personel. Good portions (nicely prepared), also for children. The price/performance ratio is completely fine. Everything was very tasty, absolutely recommended. The only criticism; The service would have to be faster and more attentive, so you could have consumed significantly more than one drink per person during your stay, since the restaurant wasn't nearly full inside/outside. All in all, very good food, meat even prepared on the hot stone. Recommended. We would love to come back...

Went to the Hessentag in Fritzlar with friends from Kassel. We have also visited the city on other occasions and always eaten our nails. It was all around good as always. Would love to come back.

The boss was very good, the employees were very presentable, the staff was great, the owner was very rude when asked for service and that unfortunately devalued the evening. This is where a man (woman) should still work under stress. But food was great.

We had lunch at Nägel on a Friday. We wanted to sit at a window seat, but we were immediately shooed away and told to go to another table as a couple. It's a real shame, because the window table at the very back right was free the whole time! The food was super tasty. There's nothing negative to say about it. But one waitress was really excited and very restless. I work in the catering industry myself and would never have sent people to another place if there were still enough places available. We weren't there long, just had lunch. That kind of ruined it for us a little bit. Otherwise we can recommend it there, it's cozy and the food is tasty. Greetings from Weimar

We spent lovely hours in the restaurant. The staff was very attentive, courteous and friendly! All wishes were taken into account and the food was delicious!!! A highlight was the hot stone. The portions were large and the menu has many great dishes! We will be back and can recommend the restaurant with a clear conscience!
