Tavern Athos in Fritzlar

Great ambience and the food was super delicious! The service was extremely friendly and attentive. Despite the numerous guests, the boss takes time for a personal conversation. Thank you for the lovely evening!

I can't share some of the reviews here. We (two couples) regularly go out to eat together. We don't care about other people's reviews, we just form our own opinion. What we learned here, Hmmm difficult. The ambience is great and the staff tries hard. But that was it. Incredibly loud and a clientele that we didn't expect. We had to wait over an hour for the starter, which was also bad (calamares wobbly and not crispy, tzatziki like they came from a jar, bread dry). Ok, let's wait for the main course. Meat dry (grill plates), fries cold and unsalted, etc... Okay, it was the Christmas market in Fritzlar and everyone seemed overwhelmed. But that's definitely not an excuse when I run an establishment like this. Had the food returned. Sry Eating with friends and in general is quality of life for me. I'm happy to pay the appropriate price for it. In this case it was a disgrace. The owner offered us a replacement, but seriously, no way… We definitely won't be coming back

Stopped in spontaneously for lunch with two people. Very nice restaurant, freshly prepared dishes that tasted very tasty. Excellent service and the obligatory Greek ouzo on the house. Highly recommended!!!

Went there for the first time yesterday afternoon. We were greeted very nicely and shown to a table. We ordered a gyro salad and the Alexander meat platter. The food came quickly and was very clearly presented. The gyro was perfect and the rest of the meat on the plate was cooked to perfection. My wife also really enjoyed the gyro salad. The service was always friendly and accommodating. Since the restaurant is located in a vaulted cellar, the ambience takes some getting used to and perhaps not everyone likes it. We found it very comfortable. All in all, highly recommended! The taste was great and the staff were very nice. We'd love to come back!

We were there once with 5 people. The table reservation over the phone was very friendly. We would be greeted very friendly. The service was very nice. The food was very tasteful. Each of us had a different dish. Everyone was very happy with the food, the service and the ambience. We'll be back. For us it is the best Greek.

Have eaten here again for a long time. My husband liked it, but unfortunately I found my food bland and was a bit disappointed. Service was great, even though it was hectic and full, the service remained calm and friendly.

We were there for the first time yesterday, but definitely not the last time. The food was excellent, it came to the table hot and tasted very good. The portions are generous and it really fills you up. The staff are also very friendly and warm and seem to get along very well with each other. We felt very well looked after and had a great evening.

We were in Athos for the second time today. The dishes were very tasty and the grill plate came without a side salad. The service was friendly but unfortunately a bit inconsistent and slow. A drink and the bill had to be requested several times. A third time? Why not.

We were there again after many years, spontaneously without prior reservation and can ABSOLUTELY recommend it, very, very friendly and accommodating and were asked several times in between whether everything was OK with food and drink, very, very accommodating. This restaurant is very concerned about the well-being of the guest and you feel completely at home and is also very child-friendly. Very, very nice and charming service!

Food and service excellent. We sat outside to eat. The flowers on the table looked quite sad and one chair wobbled so much because of the uneven floor that you couldn't even sit there. Therefore one star less for ambience. Definitely recommended.

Greek in Fritzlar. Outside overlooking the market square. Inside (in the basement) a beautiful vaulted room. The boss is always in a good mood and has everything under control. The food is good.

We got a table for four without a reservation. The food was good. The service was a disaster. A young girl who kept forgetting orders, forgetting to answer questions about lactose-freedom, and the bill only came after several questions and requests (more than half an hour from the first bill order to payment). The boss was obviously annoyed by her employee, but only helped with an urgent request directly at the counter, as there was a bus to catch.

Very tasty and kind of typical. One of the best Greeks in the entire area. Good portions. Price wise okay. Sometimes the service is a little overwhelmed but still very friendly! Clear recommendation!

I've read so many bad reviews, but I have to say that I experienced exactly the opposite: the service was very friendly, the food was great and filling, and it came very promptly. We'll come back when we're there!

The ambience is great...unfortunately the same cannot be said for the service. We were escorted to the table and then forgotten...the staff wasn't very attentive. But the food was good once it finally arrived. We didn't feel comfortable and will definitely not be coming back.

We've eaten here so many times over the past few years. Also ordered for family celebrations, it was always good, but things have been going downhill since last year. I was finally disappointed in February. We had the Helena platter and a gyros plate. Both of our fries were still raw on the inside and the gyros were just dry and bland. The complaint about the fries was recorded, but that was it, we didn't receive an exchange, and even though we didn't eat them, they were still deducted in full. This is unacceptable for us as a service, even taking into account the increased prices!

We were there for the second time now, The service doesn't listen and doesn't respond to requests. The menu said it was crispy and fried but it came out limp. The couple at the table next door had to wait a long time for their food. First they gave an excuse, then they wanted to be honest, they said the meat was charred and was just being remade. Very worrying.

Very tasty food. We had two plates (Athos and another one that I can't remember the name of) and the cold starter plate. We've been going there regularly for several years and it's always delicious, but on our last visit we noticed that the portion size had become smaller.

Auch hier war das Essen sehr lecker.

Essen vor Ort ist immer top. Wir haben aber jetzt 3x außer Haus bestellt und waren 3x enttäuscht. Es wurde immer was vergessen, entweder der Salat oder Pommes ect. Beim letzen mal kam noch dazu dass die Pommes fast roh waren. Echt schade, hoffe das wird wieder besser. Wir fahren immer 20km um essen zu holen.

Sehr nett zu Beginn war, dass wir um 14:10 Uhr noch einen Tisch bekommen haben, obwohl um 14:30 Uhr die Mittagspause beginnt. Ohne Hast und Eile konnten wir das köstliche Essen im sehr schönen Kellergewölbe genießen. Klasse war auch, dass die Mitarbeiter gut drauf waren und uns mehrmals zu verstehen gaben, dass wir uns Zeit lassen können. Das Lokal ist nur wenige Gehminuten vom Marktplatz entfernt.

Schönes Griechisches Speiselokal. Gerichte sind sehr lecker und reichlich. Die Bedienung ist zuvorkommend und sehr nett. Da das Lokal sehr gut besucht ist,ist es ratsam zu reservieren. Das einzige was mir nicht gefallen hat, ist die Tatsache das es alkoholfreies Bier nur als halben Liter gibt. Der Preis hierfür beträgt stolze 5 Euro.

Alles stimmt bei diesem Restaurant. Essen, Personal, Restaurant als Gebäude [Gewölbe], einfach klasse....sehr aufmerksames Personal

Mein Freund und ich haben 2 vegetarische Gerichte bestellt und AUSDRÜCKLICH dazu gesagt, das wir keinen Käse wollen. Ich hatte mich ebenfalls erkundigt, ob die Gerichte mit Butter oder anderen laktosehaltigen Sachen zubreitet werden, da ich schon häufiger die Erfahrungen gemacht habe, das mit der Frage "Ist das Gericht vegan"nichts angefangen werden kann. BEIDE Gerichte kamen mit Käse an. Bei ihm war es ein Block Feta, den man rausnehmen konnte, bei mir war es drüber gestreut und damit habe ich es sofort zurück geschickt. Alles erstmal kein Problem, sowas kann passieren. Als ich das Gericht "63. Kritharaki (griechische Reisnudeln) mit Blattspinat, Schafskäse und Knoblauch" (Direckes Zitat aus deren Online Speisekarte) dann ein 2.mal bekam, habe ich erst gemerkt das die Nudeln in Sahnesoße schwammen. Davon war auf der Karte nichts zu lesen. Außerdem hatte ich nachgefragt. Damit ist mir der Appetit und die Geduld vergangen und blieb ohne Essen sitzen. Ebenfalls zu vermerken, zu keiner Zeit gab es eine Entscheidung von irgendjemanden in diesem Laden.

Spontan entschlossen wir uns, das Restaurant zu besuchen. Wir wurden nicht enttäuscht. Ausgezeichneter aufmerksamer Service, schmackhaftes Essen, großzügige Portionen, nettes Ambiente. Der Besuch lohnt sich!

Alle super nett dort, das beste Lammfilet was ich jemals gegessen hab, Gargrad war perfekt, super Zart, die Beilagen waren auch sehr sehr lecker. Atmosphäre super, Preis/Leistung auch sehr gut. Alles Perfekt!! Kann ich nur empfehlen.

Außen hui innen pfui. Sauberkeit und Qualität der Speisen lassen leider zu wünschen übrig. Auch der Service, Getränke nachzubestellen unmöglich. Speisen aus der Friteuse statt Pfanne, jeder Imbiss macht das besser.

Es ist schon erstaunlich, das es immer wieder Restaurants gibt die mit ihrem Service mal ganz oben und dann wieder ganz unten sind. Im Athos ist das anders. Hier wird seit Jahren ein guter und gleichbeibender Stand gehalten. Wer gut essen möchte und das in netter Atmosphäre der ist hier genau richtig. Portionen und Preise sind absolut ok.

Nettes Ambiente im urigen Keller. Von Außen eher unscheinbar. Sehr leckere Speisen und sehr freundlicher Service. Gute Auswahl an Speisen.
