"Das Alte Rathaus" - Restaurant in Leipzig

Wor waren Samstags hier spontan zum Kaffeetrinken. Drinnen und draußen waren noch ausreichend Plätze vorhanden. Allerdings war gerade auch Weinfest. Es gab verschiedene Kuchen/ Torten und auch mehrere Eisbecher. Die Kellnerin war sehr nett und freundlich. Unsere Bestellung kamen sehr schnell.

Gute Lage, Service nicht aufmerksam. Nimmt Bestellungen nicht auf, sehr langsam.

Mann kann hier gut ein Bier trinken!

Leider besteht die Gefahr von Passanten, die Geld wollen in irgendeiner Weise konfrontiert zu werden- direkt am Tisch Die Servicekräfte sind extrem freundlich, allein deswegen würde ich sehr gerne wieder kommen, Das Eis war super, das Stück Torte auch Eigentlich wollte ich nur im Schatten zu einer Veranstaltung, da stand ich dann vor dieser Glasvitriene- zack Zwischenstopp, ein Stück Torte, Kartenzahlung kein Problem

Köstliche deutsche Küche und sehr freundlicher Service. Außerdem eine schöne Terrasse am Marktplatz. Das Schnitzel wird in Butter gebraten und nicht frittiert. Genau wie die leckeren Bratkartoffeln.

Dieses Café liegt mitten auf dem Leipziger Marktplatz in fantastischer Lage und ist daher ein sehr beliebter und lebhafter Treffpunkt. Besonders tagsüber, und erst recht bei Sonnenschein, ist es extrem voll, und die Gäste drängen sich fast darum, einen Platz zu ergattern und einen Kaffee, ein Getränk oder etwas Süßes zu genießen. Wir waren nachmittags, zwischen Mittag- und Abendessen, dort, um uns ein Eis und Getränke zu gönnen. Die Atmosphäre war angenehm, und die zentrale Lage trägt definitiv zum Erlebnis bei. Der einzige Grund für vier statt fünf Sterne ist, dass die Bedienung bei großem Andrang etwas gestresst wirkt, was den Gesamteindruck des Services leicht trübt. Mit etwas besserer Organisation während der Stoßzeiten könnte dieses Café problemlos fünf Sterne erreichen. Insgesamt ist es aber dennoch ein sehr angenehmer Zwischenstopp in einer der besten Lagen Leipzigs.

Dieses Restaurant liegt mitten in Leipzig. Das Essen ist köstlich und die Portionen sind großzügig. Das Personal ist sehr aufmerksam und spricht Englisch. Die Preise sind zwar recht hoch, aber im Vergleich zu den allgegenwärtigen Dönerbuden lohnt es sich, für ein anständiges, regionales Abendessen oder Dessert etwas mehr auszugeben.

Sehr leckeres Essen und für jeden was dabei! Die Bierprobe wird mit Brezel und Schmalz serviert. Wunderschöner Blick auf den Markt! Service war sehr sehr freundlich, auf jeden Fall ein Besuch wert!

Schönes restaurant.nette höfliche bedienung.sehr lecker fassbier. Leider war geschmacklich der sauerbraten etwas verfehlt.das fleisch war zart.aber eher ein klass. Rinderbraten hauchdünn.Der rotkohl hingegen gab die säuerliche note. Mein letzter Besuch. im Restaurant gegenüber.war der sauerbraten ein genuss. Bis zum nächsten mal.

Sehr leckeres Essen und freundliche Bedienung. Von traditionellen sächsischen Essen, bis zu normalen Klassikern und regionalen Getränken und Bieren ist alles dabei. Sehr schön ist auch die Lage mit dem Blick auf dem Markt..

Vielleicht hatte nur ich Pech. An meinem Tisch roch dermaßen nach WC, dass ich keine Speisenkarte mehr brauchte. Zwei Kellnerinnen haben mir den Rest gegeben. Wer mein Geld möchte, muss sich ansatzweise Mühe geben.

Waren heute zum Mittagessen da. Essen und Service super. Kommen gerne mal wieder.

Nach einer Tischreservierung am 7.3., die leider nicht geklappt hat, sind wir spontan im Restaurant „Das Alte Rathaus“ eingekehrt – ganz ohne Reservierung. Dort wurden wir sehr freundlich empfangen und haben sofort einen Tisch bekommen. Der Service war aufmerksam und sehr schnell, und auch auf das Essen mussten wir überhaupt nicht lange warten. Das Essen war wirklich sehr lecker, die Portionen waren mehr als ausreichend und das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis stimmt absolut. Wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt und kommen sehr gerne wieder. Dieses Restaurant können wir wirklich nur weiterempfehlen!

PetersilienKartoffeln zum schnitzel fand ich echt nicht lecker. Kleiner Klecks Soße dazu .Das brauhaus cordonbleu mir frischkäse hat sehr Pfade geschmeckt .ziemlich gesalzen preise für schlechtes Essen.service war ok

Sehr freundliches, englischsprachiges und aufmerksames Personal. Die Hähnchenstreifen in cremiger Soße und die Rinderroulade waren absolut fantastisch. Schöne Lage und ausgezeichnetes Bier – obwohl ich nicht so gerne Bier trinke, war die Bierprobe eine tolle Alternative! Absolut empfehlenswert!

Ein schönes Restaurant, im Historischen Alten Rathaus von Leipzig, direkt am Marktplatz. Der Freisitz befindet sich unter dem wunderschönen Gewölbe und bietet einen herrlichen Ausblick auf das bunte Treiben der Stadt. Die Speisekarte ist einfach gehalten, dennoch sind die Gerichte von guter Qualität, wenn auch durchschnittlich und ohne bestechende Highlights. Die Bedienung ist sehr freundlich und die Bestellung ist schnell am Tisch. Alles in allem, für eine Zwischenstation durchaus zu empfehlen!

We had soup and espresso. The soup was great, but the espresso was not. There's still room for improvement here. Especially at the market, there are plenty of customers.

The atmosphere was typical of a market square. Unfortunately, the food was typical restaurant prices but only of takeaway quality. The schnitzel came with fries and mushroom sauce, the salad wasn't dressed, and the mushrooms looked and tasted like they were warmed from a can. The bread dumplings came without sauce, making them dry.

Nice place on the square, good service. I had the Rinderrouladen. Peas were good, tasty gravy, but the meat was tough and hard to chew. I couldn't finish. I would pick a different dish. Not a good rouladen.

Highly recommended; we visit several times a year. The price is a bit higher, of course, but the taste is definitely worth it. We've tried pork knuckle, veal liver, bread dumplings, and cabbage rolls so far this year, and they were always delicious and we were quite full, depending on the dish. Service is good, and the ambiance is nice (except for the construction work on the market square at the moment). We'll be back, as always!

The food tasted impeccable, orders were taken promptly, and served without long waits. The waitresses were smart. 👍🏼 The atmosphere was also inviting and cozy... A bit on the pricey side, but you're not going to treat yourself otherwise 😉.

Sitting under the arcades of the Old Town Hall, you can enjoy a glass of wine from Leipzig's old innkeepers while observing the hustle and bustle of the Leipzig market. The menu is quite extensive and offers something for every taste.

My husband ordered a Saxon Sauerbraten with dumplings and red cabbage. The sauce was too thick, way too little, the meat was as thin as a shoe sole, also very little, the red cabbage was already black and completely falling apart, and all for €24.90. The drinks were also extremely overpriced. When we politely asked if they could charge our cell phones, as the battery was only 3% and we were passing through, they refused. Across the street at Nordsee Schnellimbiss, they did it for me without me being a customer.

Wir waren schon öfters hier. Leider war unser Besuch diesmal nicht so toll. Das von uns gewählte Gericht (frisches Matjes) war nicht frisch. Auf die Nachfrage ob es uns geschmeckt hat sagten wir nein. Als Reaktion bekamen wir die Rechnung und wurden verabschiedet. Danke. Aber leider nicht mehr wieder.

Three days in beautiful Leipzig. On the first afternoon, following a recommendation, we went to the "Altes Rathaus" (Old Town Hall), or rather, before it. A meat and a "vegetarian" dish, ordered and served far too quickly, so: Lovelessly and unimaginatively cobbled together from tubes, canisters, and cans, completely out of date. Served by an extremely friendly server who knew the ropes and put on a brave face. The finale was suffocating in dozens of flies, all very fresh. Ultimately, I left €50 behind on gastronomic junk. And remember, you "gastronome": A vegetarian meal means more than a meat slop without meat. Never again. M&M from Hamburg.

Unfortunately, I can't recommend this restaurant. They let their guests leave hungry at 9 p.m. on a Saturday. Kitchen closes... well... We're now in an international restaurant.

I spontaneously visited the restaurant Das alte Rathaus on May 17, 2025. The restaurant made a very good impression and was well attended, which indicates its popularity. Since I was traveling alone, I found a seat at a side table. The young employee, Mr. Bärndt, was extremely friendly and attentive. He quickly brought me the menu and asked what I wanted to drink. I chose a solyanka and a chicken breast dish. Both dishes and the drink were served promptly and at the right temperature. Unfortunately, the solyanka did not meet my expectations for this typical local dish. It was more reminiscent of a red onion soup with garnish. After consulting with Mr. Bärndt, he very politely offered to have the kitchen adjust it. Unfortunately, the second attempt was also not satisfactory, as the soup was heavily dominated by onions – I ultimately removed them myself (see pictures). Mr. Bärndt recognized the problem and offered to cancel the soup, but I declined. His service was consistently courteous and solution-oriented. Despite this minor culinary misunderstanding, I was overall satisfied with my visit. The staff was very friendly, the service attentive, and the ambiance pleasant. I would visit the restaurant again and try other dishes.

I've been here several times, and the food was nothing but good. This time I was disappointed; the spiced meat and solyanka were simply not that delicious. Solyanka was o'la, spiced meat with onions, and the taste was completely different. When I asked about it, the very friendly waitress said it was the same as always. That would mean a radical change in my taste. The counter-test today at Zills Tunnel was exactly the opposite. A shame.

A spontaneous stop for dinner. We ended up having solyanka. Unfortunately, it had no meat at all, just sausage and onions. The taste was mediocre. The service was friendly. I found the price for some of the dishes a bit too high.

I was excited, but I wouldn't be disappointed either. I had the schnitzel with buttered potatoes and salad. The dish was obviously freshly prepared. Salad was actually cold and the rest was nice and hot. The schnitzel was a little surprise...crispy and juicy. That's how it should be. The sauce level was also nice. Das Essen war gut und die Bedienung nett aber ein paar Sachen waren befremdlich und haben einen komisches Gefühl hinterlassen: zum Beispiel die Bemerkung der bedienenden Person“bei Kaffee gehe ich hoch wie eine V1“. Etwas befremdlich für Gäste deren Großeltern im Mittelbau Dora die besagten Raketen als KZ-Häftling bauen musste und auch dort gestorben ist. War nicht Absicht aber sehr befremdlich. Auch manche Bilder an der Wand lassen die Vermutung hochkommen, dass die Gewinnung der Gaststätte nicht sehr feemdenfreubdlich ist .

Nice, cozy place in the center of the city

We personally reserved a table for 4 people for today about a month ago. When we showed up at the agreed time today, there was apparently no reservation??? There was no apology whatsoever - even though the waiter in question was there to take the reservation. A young waitress then gave us a table - but the mood was dampened and the food didn't meet our expectations. Salad plate ice cold/sliced ​​meat not well fried/cream sauce was simple gravy. But the mulled wine and the fries were great!

Very bad price-performance ratio. 36 euros for a roast goose is steep. Perhaps it would have been justified if the portion had been large or it had been a totally delicious roast. Unfortunately, neither was the case. Sauce was fatty, red cabbage had no taste, duck was dry. The rumbling in your stomach after eating was free.

Mein Mann hatte Rahmgeschnetzeltes und ich ein Kartoffel-Gemüse Omelett. Beim Rahmgemüse fehlte der Rahm, die Soße war offensichtlich ebenso ein Fertigprodukt wie die Röstis. Das Omelett lag über dem pur gedünsteten Gemüse. 3 Punkte gibt es für die freundliche Bedienung und letztlich haben wir das Essen ja auch verzehrt, nochmal werden wir nicht herkommen.

Ate dinner here on Sunday night in November 2024. This was a lovely restaurant with friendly attentive waitstaff. I got the potato soup with sausage (hot dogs in the US) and wife had the Grimes Wurzfleisch which is like turkey ham Swiss bake I make at home. We loved both dishes and followed it up with ice cream. The noise level was very low and we had a great time!

Viele Jahre bin ich zum Bachfest in Leipzig und habe mehrfach dort gesessen. Leider ist das Essen zum wiederholten Mal absolut schlecht. Das Personal überwiegend unfreundlich. Man wurde Mega unfreundlich um 22.00 h rausgeschmissen. Auch auf Nachfrage, ob man bis 23.00 die Veranstaltung auf dem Markt von dort aus noch weiterverfolgen darf, wurde man unfreundlich rausgeschmissen. Wir haben reichlich Getränke bestellt. Alle anderen Gäste waren ebenso entsetzt. Auch am Sonntagmorgen um 10.00 h zum Gottesdienst auf dem Markt wurde man nun noch unfreundlicher rausgeschmissen. Obwohl das Restaurant erst um 12.00 h öffnet, war es nicht gestattet dort zu sitzen. Der Inhaber scheint von gutem Service und Dienstleistung keine Ahnung zu haben. So viel Unfreundlichkeit in einem Restaurant habe ich noch nie erlebt.

I have been in Leipzig for the Bach Festival for several years. And every year I unfortunately have to experience that the food is more than bad. The crowning glory was the matjes, which didn't taste like fish. Another massive point of criticism is the unfriendliness of the staff. This is not a unique experience either. We were thrown out at 10 p.m. in a very rude manner, even though we politely asked if we could continue to watch the event at the market from the restaurant. On Sunday morning we wanted to attend the church service at the market there. A more than unfriendly employee chased us away. And that even though the café was still closed. We cannot recommend this café for its service or food. There are enough alternatives. It was once again the impression that people were against the Bach Festival and that the many guests were just a nuisance. Many other guests felt the same way. People were stunned. An owner missed his job!

Totally disappointing. On Whit Saturday, it's the wine festival at the market and the Wave Gothik Festival, we were happy to get a table in the outdoor area. As soon as we sat down, the service staff came and told us that they were no longer accepting anyone and were only charging the previous guests. It was 8:45 p.m.!!!!! This is incomprehensible. Totally disappointed, we took our money elsewhere.

The prices quoted are more than justified due to the location and the quality of the food. It is advisable to reserve a table in the evenings on weekends if you decide to visit the old town hall.

Wir hatten eine sehr schöne Zeit im "Alten Rathaus". Große Portionen, nett angerichtet und total lecker. Die Kellnerin war sehr freundlich, das Ambiente stimmte. Die Auswahl an Speisen und Getränken ist riesig. Fensterplatz ist sehr zu empfehlen, denn das Treiben auf dem Markt ist sehr abwechslungsreich. :)
