Really disappointing. Do you want it hot? Yes. We made it not hot for you.

We came here with high expectations of the supposedly authentic Thai cuisine. Unfortunately, these were not quite as fulfilled as we had imagined. My tom yam soup with prawns was great. There was also nothing wrong with the ingredients for my green curry. But unfortunately the curry itself was the worst I've had in a long time. Relatively thin and tasteless. In response to my cautious criticism, I was told that I should have said "Thai spicy" when ordering. But then you can't put 2 chili peppers on the menu. Plus, not only was it not spicy, it was also pretty bland. We're still giving the restaurant a second chance because we still want to try a lot of things. But today we unfortunately expected more.

Very tasty food and friendly service. The three of us came on Sunday evening without a reservation and didn't have to wait long for drinks, starters and main courses.

Portions were okay, but there wasn't a real Thai feeling. The service and the boss were very nice, there's no doubt about it, but you have to work on your food somehow, it was a little boring.

I had the pleasure of visiting this wonderful Thai restaurant and I absolutely love it! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with an authentic Thai touch that transports you straight to another world. The food was an absolute highlight! Every dish was fresh, flavorful and perfectly prepared.

It was our first time eating here and it was worth it. Very authentic Thai cuisine, very friendly and attentive staff. There is a wide selection of different foods from appetizers to dessert. From super hot to mild.

Finding restaurants in Berlin is quite easy, but good ones is kind of challenging. DAO was a great surprise, we ordered the Green Curry and the Pork Belly and it was just perfect. This is a must to visit. For dessert we had a Sago and it just rounded up the whole experience. 5 stars!

For me the best Thai restaurant. Great curries! Not a standard modular system like you see in many other restaurants. The ambience is inviting, tasteful and not too kitschy. The service is very friendly. And if you would like to get involved, I can only recommend the cooking courses on offer. In any case, we had a lot of fun with ours.

Unfortunately, the service was very uninterested, almost unfriendly. I'm not demanding. But I felt like a number. I was actually happy to be outside again. The food was good, but not good enough to make the visit an experience and to come back again.

A restaurant with a cozy atmosphere, we ordered two dishes: fried rice noodles and Tomyum soup. It was quite a lot, but you can take the leftovers home

We were in this restaurant with four people on Friday, October 4th, 2024. It wasn't fully booked, but we still had the feeling that only one, very nice and quick employee was serving the entire restaurant. There was another employee there, but he didn't get any prize for friendliness. The boss didn't need to greet or serve. In the background the TV (with sound) was running on a continuous loop in which the owner appeared to be self-absorbed from various TV shows (even those from Thailand). The food was okay, but unfortunately not hot, let alone warm... My husband's conclusion, which I can only agree with: Our Nhit (Thai cook in Stuttgart) does it better. He's right.

I'm in Berlin on a short vacation and have been looking forward to having something to eat here for weeks. I've heard and seen a lot on TV about this restaurant. They make the curry pastes themselves! Now I was there and I wasn't disappointed. I had a red curry with chicken - and it was really exceptionally good! Not the run-of-the-mill stuff like most “Asian restaurants”, but really tasty, intense and spicy. Absolute recommendation!

Ich habe leider eine äußerst enttäuschende Erfahrung in diesem thailändischen Restaurant gemacht, und es tut mir leid, sagen zu müssen, dass dies wahrscheinlich einer der schlechtesten Restaurantbesuche war, die ich je erlebt habe. Schon beim Betreten des Restaurants fiel mir auf, dass die Atmosphäre recht ungemütlich war. Das Dekor wirkte veraltet und lieblos, was überhaupt nicht den Erwartungen entsprach, die man an ein authentisches thailändisches Restaurant hat. Die Tische waren schlecht eingedeckt, und es dauerte eine gefühlte Ewigkeit, bis wir überhaupt vom Personal begrüßt wurden. Als wir dann endlich bedient wurden, war das Personal unfreundlich und machte den Eindruck, dass wir störten. Fragen zur Speisekarte wurden nur widerwillig beantwortet, und man hatte das Gefühl, dass es dem Personal unangenehm war, uns überhaupt zu bedienen. Die Unfreundlichkeit war fast greifbar und zog sich durch den gesamten Abend. Leider setzte sich der negative Eindruck auch beim Essen fort. Die Gerichte waren weit entfernt von dem, was man als authentische thailändische Küche bezeichnen könnte. Die Zutaten wirkten nicht frisch, die Gewürze waren fad und das Essen insgesamt kaum genießbar. Ich habe schon oft thailändisch gegessen, und was hier serviert wurde, war eine Beleidigung für die thailändische Küche. Besonders enttäuschend war, dass auf unsere Anmerkungen zum Essen überhaupt nicht eingegangen wurde. Als wir die Bedienung darauf aufmerksam machten, dass unser Essen kalt und ungewürzt war, bekamen wir nur eine knappe, gleichgültige Antwort. Es gab weder eine Entschuldigung noch den Versuch, das Problem zu beheben. Der schlimmste Teil unseres Besuchs war jedoch der Umgang der Chefin mit Kritik. Nachdem wir unsere Beschwerde über das Essen und den Service vorgebracht hatten, wurde die Chefin (Meo)herbeigerufen. Anstatt sich unseren Anliegen anzunehmen, wurde sie sofort defensiv und aggressiv. Sie machte keinerlei Anstalten, unsere Kritik ernst zu nehmen oder nach einer Lösung zu suchen. Im Gegenteil, wir wurden regelrecht abgewiesen und das Gespräch endete damit, dass wir uns als Gäste völlig unwillkommen fühlten. Insgesamt war dies eine erschütternde Erfahrung. Dieses Restaurant scheint weder an der Qualität seines Essens noch am Wohlbefinden seiner Gäste interessiert zu sein. Die mangelnde Einsicht der Chefin und des Personals hat unseren Abend ruiniert, und ich kann dieses Restaurant absolut nicht weiterempfehlen. Es gibt so viele andere wunderbare thailändische Restaurants, dass man sich dieses hier wirklich ersparen sollte.

We were there at lunchtime, only one table was occupied, there were used dishes and a full ashtray on a table facing the street. We took a table inside and sat down. The waiter came relatively quickly and brought us the menus. We ordered a Tom Yum and a Tom Kha soup as well as drinks. The dishes were ready very, very quickly, which doesn't suggest that they were freshly prepared. The Tom Yum soup was completely over salted, tasted very bad and the ingredients were also not typical of Thailand. We have been to Thailand several times and this was not authentic Tom Yum (e.g. cherry tomatoes were used). Since it was so salty, we had to order a portion of rice with it. We were promptly given a small bowl, approx. 8-10cm in diameter, with normal rice. We were charged €4.90 for this. An absolute disgrace for a mini bowl of standard rice. The waiter didn't respond to our criticism and complaints at all. Conclusion: Bad food, inattentive staff, exorbitant prices, no recommendation.

Nous avons choisi ce restaurant par hasard car proche de notre hôtel et nous n’avons vraiment pas été déçu ! Nous y avons découvert une cuisine savoureuse, raffinée et parfumée qui nous ramène directement en Thaïlande. Le plateau mix était varié et de qualité et le PadThaï était excellent.👌 Accueil très sympathique et service attentif. Que demander de plus pour ce restaurant de quartier ! Les prix restent corrects. Je vous conseille de vous y arrêter. Il fait la différence ! 😉

I recently went to Dao and all I can say is that it was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had! From the moment we entered we were greeted with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The ambience of the restaurant is simply wonderful - a perfect mix of traditional Thai flair and modern touches. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, which made our evening even more enjoyable. Already at the welcome you could feel the warmth and commitment of the team. We were immediately escorted to our table and felt comfortable from the start. I was particularly impressed by the authenticity of the dishes. Every dish was a true feast for the senses - from the fresh and crunchy papaya salad, which was perfectly seasoned and very refreshing, to the aromatic Tom Yum soup with a balanced spiciness and acidity, to the delicious Pad Thai noodles that were simply... were perfectly prepared. The flavors were intense and well balanced, exactly what you would want from a top notch Thai restaurant. Particularly noteworthy is the green curry, which was an absolute highlight with its creamy texture and perfect spiciness. The ingredients were fresh and of the highest quality, which was reflected in the taste of every bite. The presentation of the dishes was also very appealing and showed great attention to detail. Each dish was artfully prepared and was a real feast for the eyes. The portions were generous and the price-performance ratio was definitely right. In addition to the excellent food, the drinks menu was also very impressive. We tried some of the Thai cocktails, which were not only visually appealing but also tasted great. We were particularly impressed by the Thai Basil Mojito. The entire experience at Dao was completely perfect. From the friendly welcome to the excellent food to the attentive service – everything is just right here. You can tell that the team works with a lot of passion and dedication to ensure guests have an unforgettable evening. The reception alone was very warm and everyone was greeted personally. The staff was consistently friendly throughout the stay. When it comes to food, you can only say that freshness is very important. The taste is just right for us. Unfortunately, only a limited amount fits in your stomach. We will definitely stop by again to try other delicacies. Simply a must. The place is clean and the toilet is safe to use. Also worth mentioning are the awards from television. An absolute recommendation...

We enjoyed the authenticity of the cuisine here. The mixed entree was great and the papaya salad was deliciously spicy. Our favourite was the beef massaman and the prawns in tamarind sauce. Also a very good pad Thai. The service was friendly and attentive.

In June 2024 we visited the restaurant hoping for a leisurely dinner based on the positive reviews we had read. Unfortunately our experience was less than satisfactory. Despite a reservation, we had to wait 20 minutes for our table, and the service was inattentive throughout our entire stay - the entire service staff preferred to fold what was served. What was particularly disappointing was that our main course, Tom Kha, and my friend Laab Ped with rice was overcooked and contained glutamate The service was dominant, which does not meet the expectations of a restaurant in this price category. I gave this feedback on site and was put off with banal reasons and without any insight. The restaurant likes to boast about its award-winning TV and cookbook, but the owner should rather read her cookbook herself. None of us enjoyed it at all. It's anything but Delicious Will never go to this restaurant again. When the plate was half full we were asked if we liked it. It's a joke, right?? Dear Dao Team, Thank you very much for the quick answer after a week :-) but unfortunately I have to contradict you, I unfortunately have a very sensitive stomach that reacts with diarrhea when I use ingredients with flavor enhancers glutamate, for example (Maggi wort) and to your request that I should complain immediately, how You can also see from my review that I told their service team. Unfortunately, I was put off with banal reasons and without any insight. Please be fair and accept even bad criticism, this is the only way good quality and improvement is possible. For how hyped it is, I found the food to be pretty bland. I've definitely had better curry at the Vietnamese restaurant next door. The staff was friendly but inattentive and basically “left us alone” for the entire stay, not asking for another drink, etc.

Leider war meine Erfahrung weniger zufriedenstellend. Trotz einer Reservierung mussten wir 20 Minuten auf unseren Tisch warten, und die Bedienung war während unseres gesamten Aufenthalts unaufmerksam. Besonders enttäuschend war, dass mein Hauptgericht, Tom Kha, und meine Freundin Laab Ped mit Reis überkocht und mit Glutamat Dominiert serviert wurde, was nicht den Erwartungen an ein Restaurant dieser Preiskategorie entspricht. Authentic thai cuisine with amazing original food. The curry is very tasty and delicious, and we highly recommend the mango dessert when it's season! Keep in mind though, they can only accept cash!

Nice and tasty restaurant. Unfortunately too many spicy dishes. 3 chilies are already too much. The papaya salad was kind of bland. The service could be a little more balanced: sometimes more (ordering more drinks), sometimes it's too fast (clearing plates).

The operation is simply great. The food tastes fantastic and the restaurant is beautifully decorated. I'm not from Berlin but I like to be there when I go to Berlin again. Clear recommendation from me if you want Thai food 😊

Bad draft beer, but the owner ignored guests' feedback.

Food was good. The atmosphere is very simple but loud. However, due to a misunderstanding when ordering, the waitress/owner was very rude and “slammed” the plate on the table as if an animal were throwing the food. Hospitality is probably not part of the business model. A pity

Wir waren bestimmt 30x hier. Bisher unser Favorit in Bezug auf Thailändische Restaurants in Berlin. Das gehört nun definitiv der Vergangenheit an. Angefangen mit eher lieblosen Tischen, fehlender Deko, unmotiviertem Personal und der Bitte, schnell zu bestellen (es war 21:30h). Dann war die Qualität der Speisen unterdurchschnittlich (und wir reisen gern und oft mit dem Rucksack durch Thailand und kennen die Küche dort). Und bisher überzeugte das Dao durch wirklich excellente Qualität. Die vegetarischen Frühlingsrollen waren ungewürzt. Das Fleisch der Saté-Spieße qualitativ schlecht und die Sauce erinnerte nicht im entferntesten an Erdnuss-Sauce. Die Sauce der Wan-Tans war sauer. Unsere Hauptspeise: Rotes Thai-Curry mit Ente: die Qualität des Fleisches war wirklich unerwartet Top. Die Sauce max. Durchschnitt. Von dieser Qualität gibt es viele Restaurants in Berlin - zu deutlich günstigeren Preisen. Selbst der Kellner bestätigte: war mal deutlich leckerer hier. Wir werden uns jetzt wohl nach einem neuen Lieblings-Thailändischem Restaurant umgucken. Schade.

the waitress very unfriendly. I ordered a dish from the menu of the day “green curry mit Kross ente” and they brought me the one on the menu which was much more expensive. So, if you ask for this, make sure you make it very clear. I don't think we will return because of the unpleasant service.

Much more authentic to the original Thai cuisine in Asia, other restaurants in Germany are predominantly Europeanized. Spices still have a strong effect the next day, comparable to garlic...

Everything tasted very good. Nice service. Just a little slow

We were able to get a table spontaneously without making a reservation. The staff was polite and accommodating. Unfortunately, only cash payment is possible. The green curry was very good. The sea bream also convinced us. I suspect that the level of spiciness was generally toned down as the food only seemed slightly spicy to us. But we still had a nice evening.

Je connais très bien la cuisine thailandaise pour avoir très souvent séjourné longtemps en Asie, et les plats proposés dans cet établissemnt ressemble à une pâle copie, insipide sans réellement de saveurs et finesse qui ne correspond en rien avec la vraie cuisine thailandaise. Un simple assemblage de produits répondant aux attentes et gôuts des allemands tout simplement ; C'est une farce de retouver des pommes de terre dans un curry , des oignons crus, des sauces sucrées à outrance le tout agrémenté d' un riz de qualité ordinaire. En résumé, si vous souhaitez vous faire plaisir avec autentique cuisine Thailandaise, évitez bien ce restaurant. Les avis communiqués sur ce établissement sont subjectifs, et on peut penser qu'ils sont souvent validés par des personnes ayant juste besoin de se restaurer...pas découvir une vrai cuisine du bout du monde. Le marketing développé autour des ce restaurant est vraiment destiné à des consommateurs qui ne maitrisent pas toujours la subtilité des saveurs. Je ne recommande pas ce restaurant c'est décevant et il peut mieux faire... , il y a sur Berlin des tables plus agréables. VOYAGEUR CONFIRME

Unfortunately, the level has dropped significantly. Service inattentive. In terms of taste, a lot of it was boring and no longer typically Thai. Despite saying “spicy” it was bland and everything tasted similar. Only the Laab was very good. “Cash only” is a no go! A pity! It used to be really great (before Corona).

Authentic Thai cuisine. The staff were very friendly. We didn't have to wait long for the food. There is a lot of choice of Thai dishes. There is something for everyone. The restaurant is busy, but we still managed to get a seat without a reservation.

Favorite Thai in the city. The service is so friendly and warm and the food is amazing. Really great herbs and spices. My favorite is the whole grilled fish with papaya salad and roasted cashews.

War vor kurzem dort. Das Restaurant hat uns schon von draußen, wegen des Geruchs angelockt. War ganz lecker, bloß etwas zu scharf. Für die Menschen die es scharf mögen kann man es nur empfehlen. War auch nicht allzu voll. Man kann gut ohne Reservierung ein Platz bekommen.

Es hat mir sehr gut gefallen, das Essen war lecker, toll garniert, der Service sehr freundlich. Ich würde für alles 4,5 Sterne geben, wenn das ginge. Die Portionen könnten ein bisschen größer sein, ich hätte durchaus weiteressen können. 5 Sterne bekommt der wahnsinnig gut gemachte Ingwertee

Ich habe über Instagram von Dao erfahren. War auf der Suche nach einem authentischen Thai Restaurant, da wir das Essen in Thailand lieben. Leider eine Enttäuschung. Wir hatten das gelbe Curry (das mit Kokos) und eine Tom yam suppe. Die Portionsgröße entsprach in beiden Fällen einer Vorspeise. Die Preise jedoch nicht. Eine mini mini Schüssel Suppe für über 10€ wurde gereicht. Vom Curry war so gut wie nichts auf dem Teller schon fast verschmiert, damit er voller war. Gehen mehrmals die Woche essen, aber sowas noch nie erlebt.

Dieser Thailänder ist etwas aus der Zeit gefallen, wenn man ihn mit den anderen, eher modernen Läden auf der Kantstraße vergleicht. Das Essen ist aber wirklich super, wir hatten Pad Thai und Papayasalat und beides kann ich uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen. Auch für Vegetarier ist viel auf der Karte. Preislich gehört das DAO sicher zu den teureren Thais in Berlin.

Schönes Restaurant bekamen obwohl nicht vorbestellt noch einen Tisch . Essen war soweit ganz ok leider fehlte beim Laab Muh das Reispulver somit war es geschmacklich nicht perfekt.

I’ve been long searching for the best thai curry in Berlin, and I think I’ve found it here at DAO - try their own house specialty curry. We also had the ”Thai-Bolognese” - similar to dan dan noodles, also delicious. The prices are slightly higher than average, but it was obvious this was due to the quality of ingredients and abundance of things like thai-basil and thai-eggplants. Overall a very nice experience and friendly staff, and I’ll be coming back many times.

Delicious Thai restaurant that has real, fresh flavor and unique spice profiles with authentic dishes instead of the standardized curry pastes that you can get in the Asian grocery store and overly sweet menu on offer in a lot of other places. When I grow up, I would totally do that cooking class.

Der einzige Stern ist rein für das Essen selbe, denn das Food ist noch okay. Der alte Herr mit wenigen Haaren, bitte bleiben Sie am besten in der Küche, denn Sie offenbar kein gutes Service anbieten konnten. Muss man alle Gerichte von Ihrem Haus so gut wie Sie kennen und beim ersten Blick sofort darauf reagieren welches Gereicht für wen zugeordnet werden soll? Okay, ich habe die Fähigkeit leider nicht. Sie haben dann das Gericht laut und unhöflich auf dem Tisch vor mir „geworfen“. Ich kann mir nicht vorstellen. Leider keine gute Erfahrung. Good luck.

Freundliche Bedienung, landestypisches Ambiente, das Essen war schnell da, wurde liebevoll dargereicht und hat sehr gut geschmeckt. Die Toiletten waren sehr sauber. Mit dem Bezahlen mussten wir etwas warten. Sicherlich sind auf einem Mal mehrere Gäste gekommen. Aber insgesamt ein sehr angenehmer Gaststättenbesuch.

Best authentic Thai restaurant in town!! Highly recommended

Wagnis Bolognese Hat mich leider nicht überzeugt. Ich hatte eine Empfehlung aus der Karte, welche sich bereits „irgendwo“ bewehrt hat. Neben vielen anderen Vor- und Hauptspeisen hatte ich die thailändische Bolognese. Sicherlich ein Wagnis - aber empfohlen vom Haus selbst. Doch weder Darbietung, Soße noch im Ballen zusammengeklebte Nudeln haben mich erfreut. Ein Vermengen war kaum noch möglich, die Soße selbst unspektakulär. Beim nächsten Mal wähle ich das Gericht meiner Begleitung.

You need to order Meo‘s Curry. It’s not on the menu because it’s too spicy for westerns palettes but the aroma is amazing!

A nice, comfortable Thai restaurant. I recommend the Pad Thai.
