I come from Freiburg and have often been a guest in this restaurant, which I have really appreciated so far. But instead of working for peace and understanding on both sides, the restaurant unfortunately decided to take provocative actions. I submitted my request as to whether the suffering of the Palestinians would also be taken into account via the official Instagram page of the Damascus Europaplatz restaurant. Unfortunately, I received a clear rejection, which left me deeply disappointed. The response I have documented shows a stance I cannot support. What particularly shocks me is the deliberate turning a blind eye to the brutal destruction of Gaza. All major human rights and aid organizations in the world speak of a deliberate crime, but this behavior is ignored. Instead, the restaurant's actions contribute to division rather than becoming a place of dialogue for both sides that could have a positive influence in our city. Such an approach could have created greater understanding and trust between Jewish people and all other communities in the city. It would have ensured more mutual respect and peaceful coexistence instead of further deepening the rifts. I would like to emphasize that I am in no way concerned with the inclusion of an Israeli dish on the menu. Rather, I am disappointed by the negative actions and behavior, which in my opinion do not contribute to a peaceful dialogue. For this reason I decided not to visit this restaurant anymore. My regret is not only for the situation, but also for the missed opportunity to build a bridge for peace and understanding as a restaurant.

Delicious and fresh food that is beautifully presented. You have to get the menus yourself at the counter, the order is also placed at the counter yourself and you take the drinks yourself from the fridge. The shop is a little more expensive than comparable Syrian restaurants. My friend was also brought the wrong main course after a long wait. In my opinion, the price-performance ratio is not quite right here. I would still come back, but next time just for a snack.

First of all, I can only agree with some of the reviews I have read before. Because it is really much colder than in other restaurants. That's not very pleasant in winter. In addition, neither the floor nor the walls were 100% clean. The food was also rather bad than good. The salad with the vegan shawarma plate was just very watery and didn't actually taste like anything. The shawarma itself was barely seasoned. The sauce was quite good and the potatoes were a bit small for my taste, but still the best thing about the dish.

Unfortunately, our visit to this restaurant was extremely disappointing. There were two of us and we found that the dishes were served 10 minutes apart, which made it difficult to enjoy the meal together. In addition, a drink that was ordered was simply forgotten. What was particularly annoying was that one of the dishes was brought with the wrong side dish. Although the waitress promised to correct this, the correct side dish was not provided. The kofta skewer was tough and gristly, the rice completely unseasoned and tasteless. The rooms also left a lot to be desired. The dining room was uncomfortably cold, and we discovered mouse droppings on the floor - a sight that greatly spoiled the impression of hygiene and cleanliness. The water didn't work in the women's restroom and there was no toilet paper. Given the multitude of shortcomings, I unfortunately cannot recommend this restaurant. There was a lack of service as well as quality and cleanliness.

Damaskos restaurant is an excellent choice for anyone who likes or would like to try Mediterranean cuisine at Freiburg!Food and the homemade drinks are wonderful and the portions are plenty. The shop is not the most attractive and it was a little bit cold inside during December at the time of our visit, but the service is very warm and welcoming!

One star for way too much. Very cold here when you sit at the table. There is always a draft when the door is opened and closed. Currently in winter you have to find a solution for this. You feel like you're sitting outside on the street. We come from a very distant place, we eat with you with our money. Very fruitful.

A suitable place for trying out Syrian Cuisine with a pleasant ambience. The host was receptive and helpful. We had the Shawarma Teller and Falafel Teller. The dish was well balanced, and the main dishes stood out always. Would recommend 10/10.

Unfortunately, my visit to this restaurant was a disappointing experience. The negative reviews that were shared on other platforms have apparently all been deleted, which already leaves a bad impression. The waiters were extremely unfriendly and treated us as if they wanted to get rid of us - and all because we spoke Arabic. I've never experienced anything like this before. The food was a disaster. Both the falafel and the shawarma were tasteless and completely lacking in seasoning. It was simply the worst and most poorly seasoned food I have ever been served in a restaurant. The Shawarma was described to be prepared according to Arabic standards which had nothing to do with what we were served, but overall was OK.

Man sieht die guten Bewertungen und denkt ja super, da muss ich hin. Jetzt ist mir klar wie die Bewertungen zustande kommen. Auf Google lassen sie die Bewertungen löschen bzw. sie werden nicht veröffentlicht. Wie dreist ist das bitteschön? Wir hatten uns sehr auf den Besuch im Damaskos gefreut, und wurden enttäuscht. Der hummus war ganz dünn auf einem kleinen Dessertteller verteilt, dafür hat man 8,50 verlangt. Das waren höchstens 2 Esslöffel. Die Schawarma war nicht schlecht, aber die Portion viel zu klein, und hatten den Durchmesser von einem länglich eingerollten Pfannkuchen. Genauso wie auf dem Foto einer vorherigen Bewertung. Das kenne ich anders. Auch da, waren nur 2-3 Esslöffel Fleisch im Schawarma Sandwich, und das finde ich für den Preis von 9€ nicht angemessen. Die Bedienung war nicht freundlich. Keine Mimik, geschweige denn ein Lächeln oder ein nettes Wort. Etwas positives: Die Zutaten waren frisch. Mir reicht das jedoch nicht um wieder zu kommen.

When we came in the meat had just run out and another staff member brought out another meat in a small amount on a skewer, which was probably left over from the day before because when we tasted the meat it smelled like old oil. He carried this meat on a skewer without protective foils down the hall and even past the toilet. Two other guests came in after us, they left after seeing this, we stayed because we were hungry. I still got heartburn and indigestion.

We were really looking forward to visiting Damaskos, but were disappointed. The hummus was spread very thinly on a small dessert plate and they charged 8.50 for it. That was 2 tablespoons at most. The shawarma wasn't bad, but the portion was far too small and was the diameter of an oblong rolled pancake. I know it differently. There, too, there were only 2-3 tablespoons of meat in the shawarma sandwich, and I don't think that's appropriate for the price of €9. The service wasn't friendly. Something positive: the ingredients were fresh. But that's not enough for me to come back.

The two of us went to the Damaskos restaurant today and had a great experience. The food was super tasty and freshly prepared. Even though the waitress was busy, she was always friendly and attentive. Sometimes you had to wait a little longer, but the pleasant atmosphere and the friendly team made up for it. Particularly positive: Everything was very clean, including the toilets. We would love to come back and can only recommend the restaurant!

Clean, tasty and friendly staff. Price-performance ratio is good, drinks are a bit expensive compared to the food, €4.20 for a Fritz-Kola. Parking is not possible on site free of charge. But there are enough parking garages. The food itself was very tasty and I will definitely come back on my next visit.

What a wonderful dining experience, this Syrian restaurant. Reviews were good. So off to Damasko. And more than satisfied. Delicious food. We chose the Dimashk Teller for 2 people. A Syrian journey of discovery and highly recommended. The delicious Weiß Burgunder complemented the whole. Recommended.

Das Schawarma-Brot war kaum mit Fleisch belegt – man hatte das Gefühl, nur leeres Brot zu essen. Wenn man Schawarma bestellt, möchte man schließlich Fleisch genießen und nicht nur einen Hauch davon. Zudem waren die „Süßkartoffeln“ keine Süßkartoffeln, sondern einfache Salzkartoffeln, was sehr enttäuschend war. Auch der Service ließ zu wünschen übrig. Das Essen wurde kommentarlos an den Tisch gebracht, ohne ein freundliches Wort oder ein „Guten Appetit“. Es wurde nicht einmal nachgefragt, ob alles in Ordnung ist oder ob das Essen geschmeckt hat. Alles wirkte lieblos und unpersönlich. Insgesamt war es leider ein sehr unbefriedigendes Erlebnis, und es wird definitiv unser letzter Besuch gewesen sein.

Hello, I think the food is a 3.5. My plate cost over 20 euros and there were 3 creams/sauces on it that were spread widely. This made the plate appear very large. I had a hair on my plate!!!! But since I was here with friends, I held back from saying anything. The woman who brought us food didn't understand a word of German, which I generally have no problem with, but it would be easy if she just said that she doesn't understand anything instead of simply answering "yes" to a question that simply doesn't fit 🙈 I watched her a little. She had mopped the floor (only with the mop cover without a wand), then she wiped our table, which then had various crumbs on it and stuck to it, and then she also served us food and when I saw the black thing under her nails, I've lost it. Really very unhygienic and overall what you see on Instagram and reality are two different worlds. I would have expected that I would at least be served for a dish that cost over 20 euros. Don't let the Instagram pictures guide you! Best example of “Instagram vs. Reality”😔 I’m unfortunately very disappointed.

This restaurant is just amazing! The food is delicious, the decoration is wonderful and the service is top. At Damaskos I especially recommend trying the dish “Sharwarma” because it is not available everywhere in Freiburg. The decoration looks exotic thanks to the many plants and the furniture and plates have an elegant style. In addition, the food is prepared and brought to the respective table in just a few minutes. You definitely have to visit this restaurant at least once. It's definitely worth it!

Ein Stern zu geben ist wohl zu viel. Unfreundliche Personal und schlechte Qualität. Nicht zu empfehlen. Restauraunt war ziemlich leer, trotzdem hat die Bestellung über halbe Stunde gedauert. Bei denen behauptet wird ein syrisches Gericht heißt Schawarma angeboten, welche mit syrischem Schawarma nicht zu tun hat , schmickt nach allem außer Schawrma. Für 2 Personen über 30 Euro, paar Stücke Pommes und ein Blatt Salat und 2 Stücke Tomate und ein Scheibe Gurke. Ich habe mich verarscht gefüllt. Null Stern zu vergeben verdient dieses Restaurant .

The pide was half cooked and without the egg even though I had asked for a spinach pide with the egg anyway it was too expensive even though it had no taste and the shawarma pizza was average frankly we looked at the reviews it was well rated I don't know how people live here without taste really very disappointed me who is just passing through on vacation for a few days I don't recommend at all and don't trust the reviews! The cashier was in a bad mood and lacked professionalism from the moment we entered the restaurant until we finished. Despite the poor hospitality and the staff's rude behavior—especially when they rushed us out after eating—the grilled dishes were delicious. However, the shawarma had no flavor at all. The atmosphere in the restaurant was also unpleasant, with flies and bees everywhere, making it unsuitable for dining.

This was our third or fourth time at Damaskos and each time we experienced not only warm hospitality but also culinary delights that are truly unique. It would be unfair to give a food recommendation. Everything here probably tastes like something out of the Arabian Nights. The restaurant is only large at second glance. We were given a table in the quiet adjoining room, and the ambience here was also very tasteful. The prices are more than fair for this culinary craftsmanship.

Die Bezeichnung "syrische Küche" für dieses Restaurant ist irreführend und verwirrend. Die Gerichte, die hier angeboten werden, weichen stark von der authentischen syrischen Küche ab. Auch die verwendeten Gewürze und das allgemeine Angebot entsprechen nicht dem, was man in einem traditionellen syrischen Restaurant erwarten würde. Die syrische Küche zeichnet sich durch eine Vielzahl von Gewürzen und Aromen aus, die oft in sorgfältig abgestimmten Mischungen verwendet werden. Typische Gerichte wie Kibbeh und Fatteh haben einen unverwechselbaren Geschmack und eine besondere Zubereitungsweise, die in diesem Restaurant nicht erkennbar sind. Makdous sind auch gar nicht auf der Karte. Ein authentisches syrisches Restaurant legt großen Wert auf frische Zutaten und traditionelle Kochtechniken, die von Generation zu Generation weitergegeben werden. We became aware of Damasko's because of an Instagram post and it was clear that we had to go there and show our solidarity during our visit to Freiburg. Solidarity has never been so delicious! We each had the vegan and non-vegan shawarma plate and we agreed: it was the best we've ever eaten! We took another wrap of it with us on the journey home today and are already looking forward to it. I have no idea how we'll survive without Damasko's until the next time in Freiburg in a year, there's nothing as tasty here in Berlin! Big plus: huge vegan selection, great service, large portions, absolutely fair prices

Wir waren auf dem Rückweg von einer Wanderung in Frankreich und sind beim Zwischenstopp in Freiburg im Damasko's gelandet. Vorspeise Baba Ganoush, Hauptspeise Veganer Teller, Dessert syrisches Pistazieneis. Essen war absolut köstlich, Service total angenehm und freundlich, Interieur stylish und modern. Wir werden definitiv wieder herkommen, wenn wir das nächste Mal in Freiburg sind.
