Dachsbau by Caliskan in Fulda

Feedback on our visit on November 30th Among other things, we ordered the shrimp appetizer, which, according to the menu, was supposed to be "wrapped in angel hair." In reality, the shrimp were simply battered, which was unfortunately too pale and rather soft. When we inquired, we were told that angel hair was currently unavailable. It would have been much appreciated if we had been informed of this change beforehand, instead of being presented with a fait accompli after ordering. The meze also failed to impress us – they were unfortunately not very appealing. Overall, the meal was disappointing. We had been really looking forward to our visit and would not currently return to this restaurant. Recommendation: The menu should accurately reflect the actual preparation, and any changes to ingredients should be communicated to guests in advance.

Unfortunately, in our opinion, the price and the service offered were not commensurate. We were served an aperitif upon arrival; however, the glasses were not cleared away later in the evening. Furthermore, we were not asked if we would like any further drinks. Overall, the service seemed insufficiently attentive for this price range. The appetizers were served promptly and were delicious. However, we had to wait a comparatively long time for the main courses. The fish was dry and the presentation rather basic. Considering the prices, we expected greater care in both the service and the quality of the main courses, as well as a more harmonious overall experience. This is regrettable. We will not be returning.

A truly heartfelt recommendation! We celebrated a birthday here with twelve guests and found the Dachsbau to be the perfect location for the occasion. The staff was competent, friendly, and incredibly welcoming. The food is absolutely delicious and served in truly generous portions – no one will go home hungry!

We had reserved a table, but were told, almost shouting, to wait outside as it wasn't free yet – inappropriate in winter. Three of us ordered rhubarb spritzer. The menu stated 0.4 liters, but the glasses arrived, not properly filled, only 0.25 liters. On the next round, we were told they were out of spritzer. When it came time to pay, we pointed out that we certainly weren't going to pay full price for the poorly filled 0.25-liter glasses. There was no reaction to this, just a curt comment: "Well, then we'll give you €1 back." Unacceptable. Main course: Turkish dumplings, a tiny portion. Appetizer: Börek, a dried-out piece.

We visited Dachsbaum for the second time with a group of 10 people. Unfortunately, it was nothing like our previous visit. The restaurant wasn't full on Friday at lunchtime, and we waited over an hour for our food. The beef fillet and rump steaks weren't cooked medium as ordered and were quite cold. Even after a second attempt to cook the meat themselves, the result was unsatisfactory. At €37 for the fillet, this wasn't acceptable. The service was slow to even check if everything was alright. One dish was left completely untouched on the plate, and unfortunately, no one asked if anything was wrong. In this price range, one can certainly expect more attentive service. It's a nice restaurant with delicious food; we just happened to catch them on an off day.

We were there on Saturday and got a table without a reservation. The appetizers were very tasty and promising. Unfortunately, the promised ingredients (avocado, berries, etc.) were missing from my parents' salads. After asking several times, as the salad really consisted only of raw leaves, we received annoyed replies, and after half an hour, we were told that the ingredients were no longer available. Two euros were deducted from the bill, but overall, the price and quality of the main course were still disproportionate. It's a real shame, because the food had potential and could have been really good with just a small adjustment (dressing and the promised ingredients). In conclusion: I think the food (based on the appetizers) is usually delicious. Unfortunately, the waitress was very unfriendly in response to our justified inquiries.

Great restaurant with an upscale atmosphere and perfect service!

The ambiance was great, the food good to very good, but the service was lacking. My rump steak was excellent and arrived without any fat. The wild broccoli as a side dish was a good idea. My girlfriend's roulades were too pink and tough for my taste. They could have been braised longer. The service, however, left us to stew. Twenty to thirty minutes after ordering dessert, I canceled it at the counter. During this time, no server came near our table. My cleared plate also sat on the sideboard in the dining room the entire time.

The Dachsbau restaurant is a real highlight. Very inviting, with delicious and creative dishes. The history of the building is very interesting and fascinating. Very friendly staff.

A nice little restaurant with good food. We had filet steak, calf's liver, and delicious tiramisu for dessert. The service was friendly, the food arrived quickly, and it was really tasty.

The ambiance is really lovely, but unfortunately the dumplings served with the duck were ice cold. The meat was very good and tender. The steak was also very good. If I had been asked if everything was alright, I would have said something. But unfortunately, I wasn't! The owner then took the payment and kept the change as if it were perfectly normal. I would have given it to him anyway, but that's just not done 🤷‍♂️.

A lovely restaurant right in the heart of Fulda's old town. Very friendly and excellent service. The liver was tender and a good portion. The grilled sea bream was also wonderfully fresh and tender. It was a perfect end to a lovely weekend.

We had a nice evening at Dachsbau Fulda. The starters were very good, the steak was excellent, and the wine was also great! Unfortunately, the sea bass was disappointing — too dry, and the spinach was overcooked and quite bitter. When we arrived around 5:30 pm, the restaurant was almost empty, yet we were seated right at the entrance where it was quite drafty (we were a group of three). We were told that all larger tables were reserved, but after asking twice, we finally got another table. Interestingly, our first table remained empty until we left. That could definitely be handled better. Also, despite giving honest feedback about the sea bass twice, there was no apology or gesture of goodwill. Offering a coffee or a small drink would have been a nice touch. Still, the overall experience was pleasant, and we’ll definitely give them a second chance.

We celebrated my mom's 55th birthday and it was great. The food was also very good, and at the end of the meal they turned up the music and sang "Happy Birthday". Afterwards they brought a cake for mom, with a big candle on it like a firework. Overall, everything was great and we will definitely come back again.

Very tasty German cuisine in a pleasant atmosphere. Slight deductions for the somewhat inconsistent service – and the fact that previous diners' orders appeared on our bill shouldn't have happened, and the staff shouldn't have noticed. Nevertheless, a definite recommendation!

We were here for the first time yesterday. And for the last time. The boss is absolutely stupid and arrogant. I wanted to take a pillow for my back and took one. He said I wasn't allowed to take a pillow; it belonged to a different table. 🤣🤣🤣. It couldn't be more stupid. The tables were empty for ages. And I've taken pillows in every restaurant and have never received such a reaction. No go. Absolutely unprofessional. The food was very tasty. But the cocktails aren't good, only about half a glass.

Our Experience at the Dachsbau Restaurant in Fulda Six of us were at the Dachsbau Restaurant and had a special request: a rum steak dish with pasta, which we wanted prepared for the entire group. Although it wasn't listed on the menu, the team was immediately open and flexible – and fulfilled our request perfectly. The result: a thoroughly successful meal. The rum steak was cooked to perfection, the pasta was excellently prepared, and the vegetables were crisp and fresh. The dessert was a real highlight and rounded off the meal wonderfully. We would particularly like to emphasize the service. The staff was attentive, friendly, and always present, without being intrusive. They regularly asked if everything was okay, drink recommendations – especially the wines – were very suitable, and our child, who had come along, was also lovingly looked after. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. We could laugh, chat, and simply enjoy a lovely evening. We went there for the first time – on recommendation – and can now wholeheartedly recommend it to others. Our conclusion: a fantastic culinary experience with excellent service. We felt completely at home and will definitely be back!

I spontaneously dropped by the Dachsbau and, even though I didn't have a reservation, managed to get a seat at the bar – the team was very attentive! The atmosphere was relaxed and stylish, just the thing for a solo evening to simply enjoy. The food was outstanding: The burrata with aromatic tomatoes and herbs was a dream, and the fresh ravioli, filled with creamy ricotta, walnuts, sage, and Parmesan, were perfectly balanced in flavor. I also had a glass of Lugana – a wonderful match and a well-rounded flavor. Overall, a very successful evening with great service, delicious food, and an ambiance that immediately puts you at ease. Highly recommended – I'll definitely be back!

I really liked how the place is decorated, stylish and tasteful, cozy to sit. The service is not bad, the only reason I took off one star is because we were not allowed to sit at the table we wanted, because it was for 4 people, and we came as a couple. However, it was a weekday lunch and the table was still empty after 2 hours. The food was not bad either. The steak was well done and the broccoli was crispy, nothing unusual or interesting, but overall it was well prepared. The chocolate fondant was normal

The visit started off on a very positive note. We received a warm welcome, and gluten-free eating wasn't a problem. My husband and I were going to share the meat and fish. When everything was served, it turned out the meat wasn't gluten-free because of the toppings. It could have been re-prepared, but we felt that was a waste, so my husband ate the meat and I ate the fish. So, so far, great. My husband loved the meat, but the fish was a bit dry. Unfortunately, the spinach that came with the fish still contained a lot of sand. And that can happen, of course. When I made this comment, the atmosphere changed, and we were completely ignored. We didn't order dessert (no card was brought), and when we paid, there wasn't a friendly word. It was a bit disappointing for us.

Wir hatten schon weit im Voraus bei Dachsbau by Caliskan bestellt, und es hat sich durchaus gelohnt! Wir bekamen einen sehr schönen Vierer-Tisch am Fenster, und jeder Wunsch wurde uns beinah von den Augen abgelesen. Die Mezes als Vorspeise (4 für 4 Personen) waren ausgezeichnet, besonders das Auberginen-Püree und der Börek, aber Hummus mit leckeren kleinen Streifen Rindfleisch und das gebrannte Gemüse waren auch nicht ohne! Der Dachsbau hat einen vortrefflichen Weinkeller, wir bestellten Weissburgunder, einen trockenen Rosé und einen Barbera d'Alba, alle erste Sahne. Und dazu die Hauptgerichte: zwei von uns bestellten die Dorade vom Grill, zwei die türkischen Maultaschen. Die Letzteren sind winzigen, mit Fleisch gefüllte und mit Kräutern bestaubteTeigtaschen, mit Yogurt und gewürzter Tomatensosse serviert, einmalig gut! Nach diesem leckeren, entspannten Mittagessen konnten wir leider keinen Nachtisch hinzufügen, aber ein starker Kaffee (mit oder ohne Koffein, nach Wunsch) rundete das einmalige Erlebnis ab. Sehr zu empfehlen!

The restaurant offers a good atmosphere, but the prices are steep. We were moderately satisfied with the food. The slightly thicker asparagus spears were completely hard, and my Wiener Schnitzel, while tasty, was incredibly tiny. Given the high price, I wouldn't go back.

We went out to eat as a family of four and had the lunch menu. It was delicious, and the service was prompt and friendly. However, the portions were absurdly small, so we had to go straight to the bakery around the corner to satisfy our hunger. When we asked the waiter about it, he said it was just the lunch menu. Better not to offer a lunch menu than to be a rip-off.

We were there for dinner yesterday with 11 people. The table was a bit cramped. At first, we were unsure whether everything would work out. My wife and I shared a tartar sauce, and we both ordered rum steak. A short time later, we were offered a flank steak for two people with delicious side dishes. We changed our minds and got a flank steak, ordered medium rare, on spaghetti with vegetables and potatoes for what felt like four people. Sensational. We gave some to friends, took the rest with us and just ate it. Thank you so much. We'll be back when we're in Fulda. Highly recommended. Everyone else was also very happy with their food. Everything was great, we just had to wait a little long for the main course, which was made up for with Alter Apricot and espresso on the house. If you want to have a very good meal, the Dachsbau is the right place for you.

Restaurant for people with a lot of time. It took an unusually long time from placement to taking the drink order. Until we ordered the food too, we were forgotten. The meal then took another(!) hour, it wasn't particularly crowded at the time and we ordered pasta dishes. The food tasted good, the service was terrible.

We feasted our way through the individual courses and left full and happy. Of course the food wasn't cheap. But it was really worth the price. It was just great!!! A great restaurant. I've wanted to go here for many years. A few weeks ago it worked. An exquisite wine list leaves nothing to be desired. Wine connoisseurs can try something that is not otherwise offered. The rump steak is my recommendation. A delicious chocolate soufflé will certainly make the connoisseur come back again.
