Curry House Restaurant in Erlangen

I often visit Curry House and am always impressed. The Mutton Palak was perfectly seasoned – the lamb was tender and juicy, the spinach creamy and just the right amount of spice. You can taste the freshly roasted spices, and the dish had that signature depth you rarely find. The Butter Chicken was also a highlight: wonderfully creamy, slightly sweet, and with a great balance of tomato, butter, and spices. The meat was tender, and the sauce was perfect for the naan. The service was friendly, and the food arrived hot and beautifully presented. Overall, always a truly enjoyable evening with authentic flavors. If you love Indian food, you should definitely try the Mutton Palak and the Butter Chicken here.

This is perhaps one of the best restaurants for Indian food which is really tasty n service is fantastic. We were served by Mr Naveen who made us very comfortable. We'll visit this place once again. Enclosing couple of pictures

Extremely good! I love spicy dishes and this Indian restaurant does some of the best with actual spiciness. Meals are cooked fast and there is a variety of options. Staff are very friendly and of course the location is very handy with the train station a 1 minute walk away. Perfect for lunch, dinner or even a light meal while waiting for time to pass. Both cash and card are acceptable for payment too in case you were curious.

We ate here today for the first and probably last time. The service was absolutely unacceptable, taciturn and neutral to the point of boredom. The food was okay, at least I can't complain, and my companion also got what he ordered. Three chilies mean hot! The ambiance matches the service perfectly, like a "fast-food restaurant." On the other hand, it's easy to get to if you want to. For my part, I won't be going out today, as I'm feeling pretty sick inside, and my partner will be happy if he survives the train ride without exploding.

Curry House! I want to tell you about an experience I had at a restaurant here. One day, we wanted to go to the Indian restaurant and eat there, but since we weren't familiar with the cuisine, my eldest daughter didn't want to order anything. The older restaurant owner/employee noticed this and brought my daughter a meal that we thought was free because we hadn't ordered it. But my daughter still didn't want to try it. When we asked for the bill after the meal, the free meal was added to the bill. I would like to warn anyone who goes there now: Return the free meal immediately to avoid situations like this, or you'll end up paying for it. I went there once and now feel cheated, so I won't go there again. (It's normal that you don't accept the facts, because companies like yours don't want to acknowledge their mistakes, and even when they see them, they ignore them. I wrote what I experienced, not what I imagined. Whether or not you accept your mistake is your problem. I'm not disapproving of the smallness or size of the portions or the taste of the food. Instead of saying, "I'm sorry," say, "Write the facts." You can look at all my reservations/reviews; not all of them are critical. That means I wrote the truth and the facts.)

The Curry House is very centrally located and, when I'm in a hurry, it's my first choice in Erlangen. The rice tastes nutty and fabulously fluffy, the food is tasty and generously portioned. You order directly in the kitchen and the food is brought to your table quickly. The ambiance is designed in the style of a fast-food restaurant and is more functional than attractive. The prices are still fair, and in terms of taste, the Curry House is in no way inferior to its competitors. Those who value ambiance, service, and refinement would rather go to a classic restaurant; if you want to satisfy your hunger in a delicious way, this is the place for you.

Delicious food, big portions and good prices! Awesome butter chicken. It has been my first experience with an Indian restaurant, and this place met my expectation! I will definitely return!

My criteria are based on atmosphere, food, hospitality, and value for money. I really liked the restaurant itself, but what I found critical was that the waiter didn't care about the customer. I'd been to an Indian restaurant a few times, and I wasn't sure what to order, what I expected from the waiter—to give me hospitable advice and show me his cuisine. I enjoyed the food, but there was a lack of chicken in the rice. For a dish costing over 17 euros, you'd expect a bit more meat, and not too stingy. My dish didn't even include bread. Erlangen is a student city, and the prices are quite high for what you get. Also, I didn't feel very comfortable as a guest. I'd rather use that money to order a kebab plate and get some bread for free.

We had the Curry Box to Go. The rice was dried out, and the curry tasted of nothing and was full of oil. The service was abysmal—not a proper hello, let alone a goodbye. First and last time.

Fast-food restaurant, very good food

I used to go here regularly but haven't been there for about 5-6 years. Either my memory is deceiving me or things have actually gotten worse. This is where my love for Indian food was sparked. Today I thought I would be hit. The curries were lukewarm to cold and tasted like nothing. The pakoras were only done in places. The samosas tasted bland and the rice didn't seem like it was fresh but just warmed up. Absolutely disappointing and a waste of my time and money. The gentleman at the checkout was nice but unfortunately overwhelmed.

A rather nice, genuine and straight forward fastfood Indian restaurant. Fair prices and open late (24:00) every day. Good place for a quick meal. Full meal and drink below €20 is hard to beat. Highly recomended.

I now eat here for a long time and regularly at different times and days of the week. The traditional Indian food was always very good, very well seasoned and always tasted good, no matter what I ordered. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. Actually, it's not a real fast food restaurant because it's definitely not fast food, but it's always very quick and can keep up with classic Indian restaurants, it's just quicker and without a reservation. Definitely a recommendation for anyone who likes Indian food in Erlangen.

Food itself is good. But… Ordered food via the website and received an order confirmation (!) shortly afterwards. When the food wasn't there over 1.5 hours later, we called and were told there weren't enough staff to deliver the food. So I waited in vain. It would be nice if you could at least get some information, e.g. on the website, by email or by phone.

Curry House is a gem of a place for anyone craving authentic Indian food. The dishes here are absolutely delicious, with every bite bursting with rich flavors. My personal favorites are their dal chawal and kadhi chawal, which bring back the comforting taste of home-cooked meals. Their parathas are also a must-try—perfectly soft and served hot! The staff is incredibly warm and friendly, making the dining experience even better. While the interior might not be the most modern, it has a certain charm that feels inherently Indian. If you’re looking for great food and a welcoming atmosphere, Curry House is the place to be!

Food is very good. But unfortunately the naan bread has become extremely small. Still come back. But make the bread bigger again. Otherwise that is far too little

We happened to come to this great Indian place today. There is a very diverse selection to admire. You can sit outside. Although you have to go in to order, the food comes very quickly and is really tasty. There is even the famous Gutmann Weizen. Reasonably priced. 🍗🍺🍛🥘

Only tried once so far but I was pleasently surprised that the vindaloo was actually decently spicy. I know it's hard when the general population can't tolerate spiy and everything has to be very mild, the request for extra spicyness was actually taken fairly seriously and I was given a moderately spicy vindaloo that is way above the other restaurants (usuall it's either very mild or mild :) ) Otherwise the samosa, vindaloo and lassi were quite tasty. I will have to test the restaurant more for sure.

I honestly love this place and it's on the top of my list of the best and affordable Indian restaurants I've been to. I had their butter naan and butter chicken the first time I landed in Erlangen and since then, it's always been my favourite. Their price, quantity and quality always surprises me (in a good way, of course).

The most important thing in a restaurant is the food. Super tasty and large portion. Ambiance and service are ok... To be recommended overall!

Stopped off here on the way to Austria just off the autobahn. Googled Indian restaurant. This did not disappoint. Very good food great staff. And the food was very authentic. We ordered for delivery and we waited almost 2 hours for the delivery. When the food finally arrived the rice smelled and tasted like bathroom mould, the meat was soft and juicy tho and the bread was nice.

Had chicken biriyani take away. It was more like chicken pulav. Taste was so blunt. Worst chicken biriyani ever had in germany. It was my first visit. And never going to visit again.

Their website said it opens at 11:00. I went there a few minutes past 10:30. They said the food isn’t ready. I said I could wait. Then they asked me to go out (dude was very rude) since me sitting there would attract more people asking for food. Me being petty decided to wait there (after taking a round in the city) till 11:20 to see if anyone actually comes there asking for food (had some spare time to waste!). Not a single soul entered the hotel.

Veggie/vegan box to go war echt fad. Oben war etwas Geműse, unten jedoch nur trockener Reis. Soße fehlt! Außerdem kein Unterschied zwischen veggie und vegan. Würden wir nicht weiterempfehlen, aber muss jeder selbst wissen. Kumpel meint McDonalds an der ecke ist besser.

Tandoori and Naan was good. Chicken curry is also good. But rice is bad. It's not boiled at all and they say this is how people like it here. Avoid rice.

I ordered Mutton curry - the man just heated up the meat and handed over to me in 5 minutes. It did not even taste like Mutton, I think it was something else. The curry had no taste. Waste of money. I cook better curry at my house. As an Indian I recommend Chai Roti or Sangam across the street.

Якщо гострий перець і дуже пряна їжа вам не до смаку - то дуже рекомендую. Що до атмосфери - ми сиділи ззовні і насолоджувались вітерцем, але у середині було досить жарко, може то тільки мені, бо багато столиків саме всередині будло зайнято. Панір наан - смакота.

Our comfort food! The curries are hearty and flavourful, the naan is parts soft and parts crispy. The Samosas are amazing as well! Whenever we get home late or are too tired to cook we get take away there! I always get hungry just walking by and smelling the spices. And I love the ambients, it’s definitely not your hip German bowl serving restaurant, but it is it‘s own thing. Full of colour decoration, heat and smells from the kitchen, where the busy chefs are working and only got so much time as to take your order. I think the only thing I didn’t like was a vegetable curry, that tasted like my grandmas watery Frühlingssuppe…

auf der Karte stand "sehr scharf" tatsächlich war das Essen weniger Scharf und ziemlich salzig. Ansonsten gut. Das Huhn war sehr zart und schmackhaft. Die Bedienung ist freundlich, vom Tisch abwischen oder abräumen hält sie jedoch wenig. Ist halt ein Imbiss.

Ich habe auf lieferando bestellt um 14:10 und wohne selber in Erlangen um Mein Essen kam um 15:20 an- nie wieder….

I liked the food but our dishes were a little bit cold I wish they were warmer And the sprinkle of green coriander that was on top didn't have my acceptance maybe because I don't like coriander 😁 But in general the taste was good

Für einen späten Snack immer gut

Wir haben uns zum Ostersonntag, wenn auch unüblich, gedacht: Gönnen wir uns doch unsere Lieblingsküche - indisch! Gesagt getan, haben wir die Bestellung online abgegeben. Die Lieferung kam nach 50 Minuten, was jetzt nicht so sonderlich fix ist, aber okay. Doch was einem dann erwartet, war einfach nur eine herbe Enttäuschung. Vornweg: das Papadum war mit Abstand unser Highlight. Das Fleisch war gewohnt zart = 2 Sterne. Doch das war's auch schon. Das Mango Chutney als Beilage zu dem Papadum war lächerlich wenig für 4 Stück. Die Gewürze haben komplett gefehlt, so dass ich mit hauseigenen indischen Gewürzen nachhelfen musste. Das Curry Chicken erinnerte vielmehr an ein Gulasch deutscher Art, sowohl geschmacklich als auch vom Geruch her (ich verwende mit Absicht nicht "Duft"). Das Masala Tikka war einfach nur lasch. Soll heißen, keine Schärfe und abermals habe ich die typisch indischen Gewürzkomponenten vergebens gesucht. Nunja und der Lassi... den lassi ma lieber... Wiederholungsgefahr/-potential = 0,00000. Achso und der Besitzer geht gegen schlechte Bewertung übrigens mit Anwälten vor und Google löscht schön blauäugig... China und Nordkorea lassen grüßen..

The place offers dine-in as well as take out. This is a budget place. Has a good selection of Indian options at the right price. The restaurant is close to the Erlangen central train station. Easy to find and was less crowded the few times I was there.

Der Duft hat uns bei offenen Türen in das Lokal gezogen. Super leckere Gerichte, gut zubereitet, mit anständiger Schärfe. Man kommt schon etwas ins Schwitzen! Sehr lecker!!!! Der Lassi war spitze, wir sehr zufrieden und satt. Vielen Dank!

Am besten wurde ich keinen einzigen Stern geben.Das Essen war nicht frisch und schmeckt nicht.

Ganz zufrieden bin ich mit dem Lokal nicht. Die Lassis sind zu süß. Das Essen ist gut, ab und zu sehr gut. Manchmal freundlicher Service, manchmal nicht. Etwas zu teuer. Aber es geht schnell. Wenn sie in der Nähe sind können sie es ausprobieren.

Update: 15/06/23: The owner threatens google users using law firm to remove not so positive reviews! This is basically a trash way of handling business. A small piece of advice to the owner: WORK HARD TO SERVE BETTER QUALITY RATHER THAN THREATNING CUSTOMERS. It never worked for anyone. It will also not work for you. Sehr leckeres indisches essen nur leider ist der Koch/Mitarbeiter sehr unfreundlich. Nachtrag: Gerade einen Antrag auf Löschung von Google erhalten, weil der Betreiber in Frage stellt ob ich Kunde war. Ich soll jetzt beweisen, dass ich dort tatsächlich Konsument war, 6 Jahre später Beweise für Unfreundlichkeit des Kochs/Mitarbeiters liefern ist ein schlechter Scherz. Habe die Sterne (vorher 3 Sterne) auf 1 reduziert, da man Kunden so nicht behandelt, vor allem bei einer offenen und ehrlichen Kritik.

The Vegetarian curry box and Vegetarian Thali are really good in terms of quality as well as quantity. The service is very quick. The staff is very soft-spoken and helpful. The ambience is decent. The costs are lower in comparison to the Indian restaurants nearby. At the end, you can have sweet saunf etc., just like India. The location is great, 2 mins walk from Erlangen Hauptbahnhof. The opening hours are also good, it's open from 11:00 hrs to 24:00 hrs, making it very convenient for late night travelers.
