Cuneo in Hamburg

The food was (as always, we've been there several times) super tasty. But we were seated at a table that was difficult to sit at (30cm clearance). The whole time I had the waitresses from the neighboring table behind me (literally), when I was clearing the neighboring table behind me I got the chair in the back. No fresh cutlery after the (fish) starter, no asking if you would like to drink something else after the aperitif. Rarely have I sat and eaten so comfortably.

Are you serious? Young young boy… that was incredibly bad… respect. It shows once again, the direct proximity to tourists, over 100 years of history and people actually come to eat here... crazy. A hype about nothing. What I find worst are the reviews that say the food is excellent. As is well known, taste can be debated. Where there is no taste but no argument, so please? Awkward. In Italy no one would go out to eat in Cuneo but I know what, as an Italian restaurateur (and no, I'm not from the neighborhood and therefore I'm not competition, although I would then feel extremely insulted. Sounds arrogant and unsympathetic, sorry , is that 😂) Food 6 Service 6 Ambience - Bar with a thousand tables. I would add a second level. Then you could let people sit up to the ceiling ;) Condition - 6 Price performance - 6 minus I hope the kitchen isn't as "clean" as your toilets... which, by the way, I would be ashamed of at your prices. As an Italian I feel insulted. Everything that defines Italian passion, temperament, our fire, etc.... saw nothing. Everything Zack Zack. Get out, thank you ciao. My father warned me that there was only hot air in the Cuneo and he was proven right once again. At least the temperature felt like 40 degrees, like in Italy. By the way, it's also a shame that with over 300 euros on the bill there wasn't even anything on the house. I don't know anything about Italians, but maybe we were bad guests too, so we'd like to apologize. With that in mind, here’s to another 100 years… without us. Salute!

A delight of Italian cuisine. We had a variety of delicious starters and delicious meat variations in the main course... Highly recommended from a culinary point of view.

Unique atmosphere, inside and out, excellent food and fantastic service for over 100 years. I don't know of a better Italian restaurant in Germany.

You don't go there to eat. The ambience has style. But the food is served rather blandly, unseasoned and as mass-produced goods. The calamaretti were cooked in the afternoon and warmed up again, so they are tough and lukewarm. To make a tasteless fried burrata, half ripe mini tomatoes halved, nothing else. The veal liver with sage was well cooked, but the saltimbocca was tough and the bacon was too salty and the accompanying vegetables were bland. Sorry, but that doesn't have much to do with eating well.

Girls trip to Hamburg, wanted to eat well here again. Total failure, very unfriendly welcome, tables even tighter than last time. Starter and main course came together. Staff didn't come after the meal. It's a shame, I would have liked to have had something to drink. Billed without comment. If we wanted to pay separately, we had to do the math ourselves. It's a shame we'll go somewhere else on our next trip to Hamburg.

The two of us ate there. The tables were mainly occupied by larger groups. There's no chance of sitting comfortably for two people. The restaurant is simply too packed with guests. Looks a lot like profit maximization.

Great atmosphere and the staff is very attentive. The food tastes excellent and the portions are generous. The restaurant, which has been in the 5 family tradition since 1905, is highly recommended. You definitely have to be there at least once.

We must have had a bad day. The food was served quite simply but at a high price, the service stopped an hour before the table reservation expired, but we were particularly informed about the time of departure. The restaurant could also use a renovation. It's a shame, but it's nice somewhere else too. But I wouldn't call this restaurant an insider tip.

A place where you immediately feel welcome by the hostess, friendly and very warm. The ambience corresponds to the long-standing location from 1905. in 4th generation. I can't rave enough. The food is definitely delicious no matter what we have already eaten there. Wines also very tasty. Friendly service.

Cuneo. The P stands for passion. We had made a reservation for our Hamburg trip at the city's oldest Italian restaurant, the Cuneo. Opened in 1905 and therefore only two years younger than Harley Davidson. In a word, it was impressive. Impressive if you want to see how a really average Italian lives entirely from his reputation and at the same time does nothing to permanently destroy it. A wonderful and creative path that the Cuneo takes is as simple as it is effective. You simply put more tables in the store than is physically possible. We were clever enough to rub ourselves with lube before visiting the Cuneo as if we were on a P.Diddy freak-off, so that we could both slip on and into our place with little wear. Learning from Dirk means learning to win. If you think the guest would be annoyed by the overcrowding move, you haven't seen the staff yet. With a pained smile, they comply with the annoying visitors' outrageous demands for food. Let them go to a restaurant! The “service” staff doesn’t seem to understand what this has to do with them. Going to the toilet in the basement is accompanied by the angry looks, whispered curses and touching of everyone bothered (guests and staff). Quote from the homepage: THERE IS NOT “THE BEST TABLE” IN THE CUNEO. HOW THE GUESTS FIND “THEIR PLACE” IS ALWAYS PART OF THE MAGIC OF AN EVENING. But we didn't come to sit or to use the toilet in the melee. We came to eat. The price suggested star cuisine, the setting suggested youth hostel, but what ended up on the plate made me wistfully think of summer and my unforgettable stay in this small Neapolitan state hospital in 1997. Respect to the virtuoso at the stove who took away every soul, every integrity and every taste from the ingredients and then replaced what was taken with Maggi and cheap olive oil. Yes, food poisoning is really no fun, but knowing that this food is lingering in your body feels similar to having an alien lay eggs in you. The handwritten invoice and its review and complaint effectively distract from this pain and remind you that the tax office in Italy is more of an idea, a philosophy and less of a state organ. All in all, you are doing everything wrong if you take away one of the highlights of your visit to Hamburg that the countless restaurants have in store for you and go to Cuneo instead. However, if you're looking for a bit of flavor for your trip, the Cuneo can help. What remains to be said, and that's why the second star (the first one is for the escape room feature to get to the toilet), is that the owner is really pretty. But once you pay, she treats you like you fucked her cat to death. See Cuneo and die - unfortunately not. I'll have to live with this for the rest of my life.

Food is good. There is very little choice for vegetarians. Otherwise great. The waiters could be a bit friendlier and more proactive about prices.

Seen at Wunderschön years ago and has been an integral part of every visit to Hamburg since then. Super delicious ravioli alla zia Rosa. Vitello tonnato also highly recommended!

Very tasty food and a great concept with the plates from which you can take food. We were there in a group. The only thing I didn't like was that the seating area was very cramped. The food and service were outstanding!

Very quaint restaurant - really cozy. Very tight seating, very loud - a romantic meal is hardly possible like that ;-) The food is - in my opinion - good, but not very good (Both had pasta - they were of course well cooked, the sauce was also delicious - but you also have to look at it in relation to the price and I felt the sophistication was missing.) The service was very attentive - even though it was really full. So: if you want to eat good, rustic Italian food, then you can recommend Cuneo - we would come back.

After being quite disappointed a few years ago, I went to CUNEO again. A very friendly welcome, delicious starter - the request for a smaller portion - was received. Delicious Spaghetti Gamberi We were very satisfied. Price performance ok - service very friendly

We happened upon this small restaurant not far from the Reeperbahn when we were visiting Hamburg on a Friday evening as a couple. The restaurant had an attractive outdoor area which immediately invited you to linger. We sat down and were served by a nice young man without a long wait. We would describe the selection of food, drinks and wine as sufficient. There is a selection of tapas as well as pasta, meat and fish dishes. In the end we decided on the spagetti with shrimps and the tortellini in a cheese cream sauce and were very enthusiastic about the food. For me it was definitely the best spaghetti of my life. Something incredibly delicious 😋. The white wine I ordered with it was also perfect. The whole 2 meals, 1 wine, 1 coke and 1 bottle of water for €60 icl tip. If you are in Hamburg and have the opportunity to eat out here, you should definitely try it out for yourself. We'll definitely be back next year. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the nice service and the great food.

Still a truly traditional Italian restaurant in the Reeperbahn Kiez with an illustrious to middle-class audience. Great location, friendly service. We were a large group of about 30 people. The starter was delicious. The fish as the main course came in varying quality, some too dry, some already crispy and juicy. I would definitely not recommend having three types of pasta on a plate. That was more of an indefinable calorie mass. It is better to choose a different wine than the house wine. All in all: You have to visit the Cuneo once.

The Cuneo is really a place to feel good! We received a very warm welcome (even at a late hour)! The kitchen is open until late and the pizza and pasta were simply delicious! Be sure to try the calamari too!

We were there for dinner, the staff was friendly and helpful. The food was good at a bit high prices. Inconspicuous from the outside but very nice from the inside. The area itself is just what it is.

Trotz Reservierung um 19 Uhr mussten wir ca. 20 Min. darauf warten von Franca Cuneo einen Tisch zugewiesen zu bekommen, nicht ohne vorher von ihr als Lügner beschimpft zu werden, da wir bei unserer Beschwerde über die Wartezeit nicht die ganz genaue Minutenzahl sagten. Ihre schlechte Laune zog sich weiter durch den Abend, ich habe Verständnis für Stress in der Gastronomie, aber es war nicht das erste Mal und obwohl ich seit 30 Jahren dort in unregelmäßigen Abständen esse und gerne Freunde von Ausserhalb dort hinführe, hat es mir nun gereicht. Frau Cuneo kann sich ihr unprofessionelles Verhalten leisten, der Laden wird immer voll. Aber es gibt noch einige richtig gute italienische Restaurants in Hamburg.

We came for dinner with the whole family. Incl. Stroller. We didn't have a reservation and the shop was full (harbor birthday). No problem for the boss, the big table was set for us and off we went. Great food, great wines. Many thanks, also to the great staff!

Eat like an Italian family. Cuneo is the tip for Italian food in Hamburg. Super tasty and authentic. You should reserve a table in advance.

We had dinner at Cuneo today. The entire staff was very nice and attentive. The atmosphere was cozy and the food was great! We can only recommend :)

My wife and I had dinner there on Friday evening. When we entered the restaurant and received a warm welcome, we as Italy fans immediately felt welcome and like we were in Italy. The ambience exudes a special charm and contributes to the Italian character. Service and friendliness are excellent and the recommended wines were also perfect. Unfortunately the food, we had fish variations from the grill, didn't completely convince us. We would have liked more here in terms of appearance and taste. Since we were otherwise very satisfied with the service, friendliness and ambience, we will definitely visit the Cuneo again during one of our numerous stays in Hamburg and perhaps be impressed by the food.

Nice restaurant in the middle of St. Pauli. As soon as you enter the Cuneo, you are in Italy. As a starter we had the minestrone, which was excellent. Parmesan and bread were served with it. For main courses we chose the tortellini alla panna and the homemade ravioli alla zia rosa. Both a poem. At the end there was a very tasty tiramisu. We really liked the ambience of the restaurant, the attentive service and felt comfortable. We'd love to come back!

Waren zum ersten Mal hier und es hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Das Essen ist sehr gut, aber noch angemessen 😉. Halt Lage, Lage, Lage. Der Service war gut bis sehr gut, leidet bei zunehmenden Gästen etwas (dann sollte man etwas Zeit einplanen) wie auch das Ambiente, da es dann doch sehr wuselig wird. Nichtsdestotrotz würden wir hier wieder Essen. Reservieren m.E. auf jeden Fall erforderlich.

Were here for the first time and we really liked it. The food is very good, but still adequate 😉. Stop location, location, location. The service was good to very good, but suffers a bit as the number of guests increases (then you should allow some time) as does the ambience, as it then becomes very busy. Nevertheless, we would eat here again. In my opinion, reservations are definitely required.

It was quite nice, very crowded, but the food was really good. It bothered me a little that it came at such a rush, as if I were in a fast food restaurant. We left soon afterwards to be able to sit somewhere less noisy and hectic but more comfortable.

Tolles Ambiente, man fühlt sich fast wie in Italien. Allerdings sind die Speisen nur durchschnittlich. Preis-/Leistung auch nur durchschnittlich, aber heutzutage eher schwierig in sehr vielen Restaurants. Wegen netten Personal und Ambiente trotzdem 4 Punkte.

The oldest and one of the best Italians in Hamburg. The Cuneo is small and fine and has absolute cult charm with its colorful furnishings. The food was very tasty and the service was very attentive. We had various starters, from vitello tonnato & carpaccio to grilled calamari, including pasta with salsiccia in tomato sauce as a main course and, to round it off, a dessert variation of tiramisu, crème brûlée and panna cotta. All in all a successful evening in a rustic atmosphere!

Went to Hamburg's oldest Italian restaurant with really high expectations. The food (not cheap) was okay, but nothing more. The service was also okay and friendly. The location is supposed to be iconic, but it didn't really convince us. In the end it's all a matter of taste. For us, price and performance do not match here. You can find it better in Hamburg.

Von aussen unscheinbar kaum als Restaurant zu erkennen. An der Ecke die Herbertstrasse da haben wir erst kurz überlegt. Innen himmlisch gemütlich. Wir wurden herzlich empfangen und zu anderen Gästen platziert. Man kam sofort ins plaudern und es wurde ein toller Abend. Die selbst gemachten Ravioli sind ein Traum. Vor weg gab es Bruschetta und Brot vom Haus. Man fühlt sich wie in Italien. Wir werden bei jedem Besuch in Hamburg hier wieder Essen.

The Cuneo is Italy, family and life! The family welcomes you with heart and warmth. The service and food round off the evening. Honest and fresh Italian cuisine with everything that goes with it.

A must for Hamburg, the history alone is worth a visit, but the food is also very good! Clear recommendation!

Only good point to mention is the atmosphere. Food in total (antipasto, primo, secondo) simply bad (fish dry, liver burnt, ravioli uninspiring - to be polite), wine completely overpriced. Don‘t go.

The ambience is very authentic with 1900s flair. The service was very attentive and quick. The food didn't convince me (minestrone cooked too long, chicken unfortunately very dry.) The wine (Montepulciano) was good. Overall too expensive for the quality of the food.

The oldest Italian restaurant in Hamburg and one of the best restaurants in the city. It's not without reason that you have to make a reservation well in advance. The waiters do their job with passion and remain calm despite all the stress. The food is first class across the board, be it the fresh, spicy bread or the excellent pasta. Meat and fish are also great. The food is quite expensive, but justified by the high quality.

Unfortunately the place was full. We spontaneously asked for space. It's pure St. Pauli feeling. From the outside you wonder what is supposed to be hidden there. And you come in and immediately want to stay. Could be a film set. Unfortunately I can't say anything about the food. Everyone was super friendly. The next time we visit Hamburg we will make a reservation in advance to make up for it.

Frankly overrated. As soon as you walked in, it was clear that you had better be a regular customer/family/friend there. We were first left standing for an in-depth greeting. Service is friendly, but could be much more attentive. We sat on dry land for the last half hour. The food is solid, but not a highlight. The entertainment receipt and receipt were handwritten, which seems strange, or rather it wasn't a real entertainment receipt. Conclusion: You can do Hamburg's cult Italian, but you don't have to. Hamburg offers much better.
