Croatia in Passau

We were here on November 29th, 2024 and had reserved for 4 people. What a nice welcome! The table was beautifully set, aperitifs and snacks (olives, antipasti) were already waiting for us as a greeting from the kitchen. Extremely attentive, friendly service and a cozy atmosphere. Very good value for money. The spicy, seasoned meat was perfect for the “well done” group. My butter-tender grilled calamari was a delight. Gladly again!

Super friendly and honest welcome Live music There were two of us and we were brought to the table, where antipasti with bread was already ready Then sparkling wine was added as a welcome drink After studying the menu, the very friendly service arrived without any hassle or stress (even though the restaurant was full) When we were finished with the antipasti, the super fresh crisp salad, green lettuce, tomatoes, peppers and chives came to the table. A little later the food we ordered, one grill plate and one calamari. Very nice and large portion You really can't beat the taste. After the meal there was a schnapps and a sweet on the house! For dessert there were pancakes and an ice cream sundae In the 3.5 hour stay we were not once pushed or looked at askance because we were still sitting. (In many restaurants there is now a time window of around 2 hours) there was no sign of that here, which really took the evening to another level Thank you for that!! The beautifully furnished restaurant right on the Danube has everything you need when it comes to food and drink. In addition to the delicious food, the friendly boss and the "one man band" Zoky are definitely worth a visit if you want to spend a nice evening in Passau.

We were in this restaurant on a Saturday evening during a trip to Passau. I immediately felt like I was transported back to the 90s. The ambience made it a surprise, small but nice. There was already a greeting from the house at the table. Small starter with bread and an aperitif. And a solo entertainer played great hits...A tip: call ahead and ask for a table. (There aren't many places.

There must be something wrong with my wife and me. We stayed at Croatia with a reservation on December 5th, 2024. Nice atmosphere, friendly service and a few delicacies were already at the table for free consumption. There was also a small apperiv (champagne) on the house. We thought it was great. The first minor disappointment was the white wine spritzer. We had ordered a dry one, but one with a lovely character arrived. The restaurant was busy and seemed to have a lot of regulars, which is always a good sign. The waiting time for the food was unusually long for this type of cuisine but still within reason. It was bitterly cold outside and we asked if the Juliska that was offered could perhaps be warmed up briefly in the microwave. No, the answer was just cold. Then came the grill plate and PolaPola. We've eaten in many, many Balkan grills in Germany and also in Croatia, but we've never had anything like this The Cevapcici were really hard and dry and way too much salt. The meat, whether on a skewer or as a piece, could hardly be cut. But that wasn't due to Blunt Knife's meat. That had a completely different problem. It tasted pungently of Maggi or a similar seasoning. Really not nice. The rice was a complete mush. The best part of the meal was the salad and the fries. The innkeeper acknowledged our comments without arguing, which was again professional. Either something went wrong in the kitchen that day, or the regular guests and we have completely different ideas about what solid Balkan cuisine should taste like.

Bread and antipasti were served before the food arrived and a schnapps on the house afterwards. Main course (pepper steak & co) everything was great! Music was a bit loud at times and the espresso was a bit thin. Otherwise nothing to complain about. Gladly again! 😊

A piece of Croatia on the edge of Germany. Very nice atmosphere with a nice service that you only know from the Balkans. The food is more than sufficient and of the best quality. The owner takes time for all guests and has an open ear. To top it all off, there are free snacks, schnapps and aperitifs from the host. Always my pleasure.

I've been walking past this restaurant in Passau for years and for the first time last week I reserved a table there for 4 people. The reason I've been walking past there for years is certainly due to the large parking lot opposite, which leads directly into downtown Passau on foot and I hadn't had a chance to see this restaurant before. Now I can see 'clearer'... into this small, rustic, cozy restaurant, which I definitely won't miss again!! The boss served there himself, led the family and me to a perfectly set table and after a few minutes gave us very detailed advice, without the usual hectic pace that one is usually used to elsewhere in Passau. A small selection of aperitifs and very tasty ones because they are fresh!!, starters are even on the house!! The tables are always ready with the above-mentioned delicacies for the guests, where elsewhere you can pay €6 to €8 per person. an appetizer would be charged!! The main course, at the family's request the Croatian specialty platter for 4 people, was really a poem with the accompanying, very clean, generously sized and super tasty side salads!! Although we couldn't eat everything due to the extremely large portions, after a very tasty Croatian schnapps, also on the house!!, after a digestive break we were each able to eat one of the great pancakes. None of us had even the slightest thing to complain about or complain about that evening!! All around, neither in the smallest corner of the restaurant itself nor in the associated "water-bearing side rooms", there were no complaints at Croatia!! I would like to mention this, as well as the price level of food and drinks there, as very positive!! This first visit was by no means the last and I would like to thank, also on behalf of the family, the waiter and owner of this really recommendable, because really exceptional and very hospitable restaurant. Yesterday I went out for a spontaneous meal with my wife. We received a very warm welcome. I had Rasnjici and my wife had stuffed plesklavica, the taste was excellent, the salad was fresh and very good in taste. So we would be happy to come back. Thank you for the successful evening

Yesterday I spontaneously went to an appointment with a friend in Passau, to which he drove me. We saw the nice restaurant as we were passing by and decided to go in. Rarely have such a friendly welcome from such a friendly boss made you happy to come back.

We had a delicious meal there with friends. Were received very warmly and the restaurant had super friendly staff and attentive service. The food was super tasty. We felt very comfortable and spent a lovely, cozy evening…

Croatia is a restaurant that I have loved since I was a child and I really appreciate every visit. The owner is super friendly, the ambience is great and the food is absolutely brilliant. The starters are good, the salad is beautiful and my absolute favorite, the gourmet platter including the sauces (insider tip: the sauces can also be ordered =) is absolutely top class. If you still have room for dessert after a sumptuous meal, you are also in good hands there. Of course, you can also get a good digestive schnapps or liqueur here with the great service. If I could, I would be here every day.

We received a very friendly welcome, the table was beautifully set and the house starter was a surprise (pepperoni, mozzarella, olives, two dips and fried herring👍😀) as well as a welcome drink, prosecco with strawberry flavor. Warm welcome with a delicious free starter plate from the house. We ordered 1 x grill plate and 1 x Pleskavica with sheep's cheese, combined with local beer it was simply a great taste experience, which was rounded off with a delicious liqueur. Thank you for the lovely evening!

Totally stale air in the restaurant, totally stuffy. Waited over an hour for the salad to arrive. After an hour and a half, the food finally arrived, which was by no means lovingly prepared, as mentioned in other reviews. Manageable side dishes, small pile of rice and a handful of fries. The skewer was chewy and flaxy. Hard to eat. The meat and side dishes were totally over-seasoned. Instead of the typical Croatian Ajvar there was a tomato dip. Totally inauthentic. In our opinion, this restaurant definitely doesn't deserve the good general rating.

This was truly an authentic experience. Simple and well prepared food. Traditional music in the background. Service was spot on. Lots of extras… aperitif to begin and chocolate and dessert wine to finish. Unexpected and added to the experience. Some evenings have live music, check ahead. We made a reservation because it’s always busy. Well worth the visit!

My wife and I never actually write reviews. BUT this time we do it. Yesterday we had dinner in the nice, small and fine restaurant Croatia in beautiful Passau. In the course of our 65 and 68 years, we have very rarely met such a nice owner who runs his restaurant with so much love and care and serves his guests so perfectly and kindly Delicious welcome snacks and a farewell glass. Such nice free additions round off the already optimal overall impression. The quality and good taste of the food is close to 100 points. The wine at very fair prices is also of great quality. Good wine doesn't necessarily have to be expensive. Our host proved it yesterday. We can and want to recommend THIS nice innkeeper with full conviction on our part. That's why we're going there again this evening...on our unfortunately last day of vacation!! And when we come back to Passau in 2025, the restaurant Croatia and its nice owner will be excellent Quality would like to be an integral part of the holiday again. We were here for the first time at the weekend. It's been on our agenda for a long time, but we finally did it. Reservation is absolutely mandatory because we actually wanted to come a day earlier (Thursday), but there was nothing available. We were here right after opening on Friday and there were already two dips at the table, as well as a greeting from the kitchen, which consisted of bread, olives, stuffed peppers and grilled sardines. There was also Prosecco with some kind of juice, until then everything was free, which really blew us away. We then officially ordered 2 Helle and the platter for 2 people, which was then flambéed at the table. The food was good - the cevapcicis were world class - the best I've eaten so far. Next time I visit I will definitely only order these. Added to this was the super nice service. We haven't felt so comfortable visiting a restaurant for the first time in a long time. The service was always there and asked questions and overall it was just a wonderful evening. We only noticed at the end that the music was actually coming from a live artist - our eyes were wide when we left. We'll definitely be back soon. Hvala i doviđenja! Dear and attentive service but, despite all the love, the food has nothing to do with Croatia. I have Croatian roots and therefore really wanted to try the restaurant. Unfortunately, the food was very salty overall, the meat wasn't of good quality, and card payments weren't possible! German pop music? Unfortunately, I found there was a lack of authenticity here overall.

Very nice and friendly service. Perfect hosts. We got a welcome drink, a small antipaste, even though we hadn't reserved it, and at the end, liqueurs and chocolates. We ordered a grill plate, which was very nicely prepared. Incredible...the live music made us feel like we were in Croatia. A beautiful and successful evening. Thank you....😉

We had dinner with five people last night. First of all, a greeting from the kitchen which was very tasty. Then every meal a poem. Arranged and prepared with love. Finally, a liqueur with chocolates. The service was very accommodating and super friendly. We sat outside, which was great given the warm weather, and there was live music playing in the restaurant, which gave the evening the perfect ambience. We'll definitely come back. The prices are absolutely reasonable and we can only recommend it.

We ate at Croatia yesterday and the service was very nice and accommodating, including my request when ordering the food. Then a small Prosecco with blueberry juice arrived, followed by a small greeting from the house with various delicacies. After the salad (we were actually already full) came the very good main course. To round things off we had a small dessert in the form of a praline and a fig liqueur which was really tasty. Finally, if you go out to eat here, please take your time and enjoy the food. Thank you for the hospitality, keep it up.

Super tasty and plentiful food. It's worth a visit! As soon as we arrived there was a small appetizer on the house and at the end a schnapps and 2 chocolates. The staff is very friendly and we didn't have to wait long for our food. At the end we were full and very satisfied.
