Great restaurant with excellent service and a special flair.

A taste of Brittany in Potsdam – incredibly delicious, but with a distinct French flair 🇫🇷🥞 We always enjoy visiting Crêperie La Madeline in the Dutch Quarter whenever we're in Potsdam. Here's our recent experience from mid-November: 👍 The food: Absolutely fantastic! The crêpes and galettes are freshly made by hand. This time we had savory options (including one with lamb's lettuce, walnuts & fig mustard, and another with avocado & egg) and sweet classics. The selection is creative (they even have pulled pork!) and tastes just like in France. 🏠 Ambiance & Service: The restaurant is small, cozy, and decorated with great attention to detail. The welcome was very friendly, even though we arrived right when they opened. Important: Reservations are essential, as there aren't many seats inside. 👎 The only downside: Due to the open kitchen, the dining area unfortunately smells quite strongly of grease and food. You definitely take the smell home with you on your clothes. To counteract this, they often open the window, which makes it very drafty and cold in some places (especially in winter). In conclusion: If you can overlook the kitchen smell, you'll get incredibly delicious, homemade food in a great atmosphere. We'll be back (and in summer, we'd love to sit outside!). 🅿️ Parking: Difficult in the neighborhood; it's better to go directly to the parking garage.

Super friendly service, very good Breton food, what more could you want?

I always thought crepes weren't a proper meal until I was here! Very tasty sweet and savory dishes. Cozy atmosphere, perfect for dates too.

I visited La Madeleine again after a long time and was quite disappointed. The food was rather expensive (€17 for a galette seems unreasonable to me) and not very tasty either; it was quite dry. The atmosphere could be a bit cozier. Also, the kitchen is open, so all the smells waft through the dining room. The service was good.

A charming little restaurant with culinary sophistication and a pleasant atmosphere. Those who associate crêpes solely with cinnamon and sugar will also find buckwheat and burrata here. The dishes are more suited to a light meal, and the prices are on the higher side.

Unfortunately, it's not possible to reserve a table less than 24 hours in advance. And without a reservation, getting a table is a matter of luck.

We went in with a lot of euphoria, but were unfortunately disappointed. I generally don't like giving a bad review, but in this case, I regret to say: The food was too bland, and there wasn't a single highlight that would make me want to come back. The most disappointing aspect, however, was the handling of the Crêpe Suzette. It was ordered for a minor without knowledge (that it contains alcohol) and was unexpectedly heavily laced with alcohol. We would have expected to have been informed of this! The menu didn't indicate this. It's unfortunate that the dish wasn't removed from the bill under these circumstances. But the disappointment wasn't solely due to the Crêpe Suzette... A real shame...

We've always enjoyed eating crepes here lately. It won't happen again. As a group of six, we wanted to sit outside, two tables next to each other. We were rudely confronted, asking what we were doing. When we left the restaurant because of the unfriendly tone, we were then subjected to loud insults.

Super friendly and food and selection top

Unfortunately, no one in our family enjoyed the food. The onion soup tasted like salt water, and the buckwheat pancake seemed too typical for French cuisine: it was overloaded with onions, had raw mushrooms, and seemed overcooked—it tasted burnt.

Archie and I loved it there. We'd love to come back.

Super delicious buckwheat pancakes, all freshly prepared. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. We felt very comfortable and will definitely be back. It's also dog-friendly – perfect for a visit to Potsdam!

Highly recommended. We had a meal with 4 adults (with their corresponding ham, cheese, egg, and tomato crepes that were AMAZING) and 4 children (with their corresponding 4 Lorraine and spinach crepes). Very good… Everything was spectacular. The Köstritzer beer was phenomenal, dark in color, but similar to a VollDamm. Water for the children, apple juice… total of €16/person.

Sadly the German angry woman that comes to our table was so rude, she comes to our table at 18:30 and said: - We close at 20:30h and there is nothing fresh but with very bad attitude, so bad that we decided to go immediately from there and don’t give even any try. Nobody deserves this treatment, I think you must to improve your service personal. I hope so in a next opportunity we can finally enjoy this beautiful place. 🙂

Friendly service and a pleasant atmosphere. Unfortunately, the crêpe itself was very tasteless and rather bland. The ice cream was okay, but the whipped cream wasn't stiff and therefore less appealing. Overall, the food was mediocre, with room for improvement.

Yes, always a pleasure - inside and out. It's been that way for years when we're in Potsdam.

It looked nice, I would have been tempted to try a delicious crepe. The snippy female waitress said, "We're a restaurant, we only serve drinks." You don't want us to come back.

Two of us were there today, August 3, 2025, at 4 p.m. The crepes were truly delicious, especially the sweet ones. Unfortunately, the staff was among the worst I've ever experienced. We weren't shown to our reserved table; the staff simply said "back there" and sat bored at the counter with two of us. Our order wasn't taken in a friendly manner (no smile, no answers, etc.); they just tore away the menu and didn't even ask if everything was OK. Ergo, simply no service and therefore a good job. It's a shame for such a great idea and good food, but for us, service is at least as important as the food and essential for a positive overall experience.

A very nice little street café. It's quite expensive, but it's a nice place to sit and relax.

We wanted to have a drink together. We were told we could only sit there for 15 minutes because they wanted to keep the tables free for guests who were eating. Half the tables were empty, though.

In Potsdam you will find many cafes, bistros, restaurants, but here they have interesting and great sweet and savory pancakes. An unusual and unexpected taste experience, always full, I recommend reservations in the evening. Very pleasant atmosphere.

Everything at "La Madeline" impressed us: delicious and beautifully presented dishes, matching wines, and friendly service, who surprised us with a complimentary coffee drink at the end. Sure, we were very skeptical at first: buckwheat pancakes with various fillings and toppings – is that supposed to taste good?! Now we know: our courage to try it was totally worth it, so we can happily recommend the place. Thanks to the entire team!👍

Whenever we're in Potsdam and can manage it, we come here. We love the crepes here. They're not cheap, but they're all the more delicious. You should treat yourself every now and then :)

A lovely café/restaurant where you can choose from a variety of sweet and savory crêpes. A good selection of drinks, all at fair prices. The service is friendly, and it's nice to be offered a different option for your meal. Highly recommended!

It tasted wonderful and everything was perfect, but I think the prices are way too high. My crêpe cost €11.50, which was acceptable, but my friend's €18.50 was simply too much.

This gave us a real vacation feeling 🙏. The atmosphere is very cozy; we sat right next to the small kitchen integrated into the dining room, which we really liked. The dishes, the wall decor, were simply fantastic. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Our taste buds were also very pleased (the buckwheat – I'd only ever heard of it as not very tasty before; the crepe Suzette with cream is also a highlight).

We went here as we had been told it did gluten free. It doesn't. Very disappointing and staff were not very sympathetic or helpful so we did not eat here.

Turned us away on a very quiet afternoon (many empty tables outside) because we only wanted drinks. What a joke!!

What a positive surprise the cute restaurant with an outdoor area offered us. The buckwheat crepes are recommended; they are particularly generous in quantity and available in many variations. The cider was also tasty. Nice service, it tasted delicious!

Seit einem wundervollen Bretagne-Urlaub bin ich ein Fan von Galettes. Und so habe ich natürlich die Chance genutzt und mir Galettes de blé noir Complete Tomates mit Ei und Schinken bestellt. Dazu natürlich einen leckeren Cidre, und ich habe mich gefühlt wir in Frankreich. Netter Service, ich komme gerne wieder! Auch die Atmospäre ist absolut stimmig!

My wife and I took 2 pancakes: 1) Wife with Cointreau and apple 2) Me with maple syrup and a scoop of ice cream. I don’t know how other pancakes with strong alcohol are, but I didn’t like the one with Cointreau - it doesn’t burn out completely and it turns out very sour. It would be great if the pancakes were heated before serving. Pancake with ice cream and maple syrup - delicious. Service - everything is excellent, thank you! I would advise taking a simple version with one filling and adding to taste, fortunately there is such an option.

It was like being on holiday in Brittany. There was no wind, the alternation of sun and rain, the screeching of seagulls, the sound of the sea, the breaking of the waves, the smell of fish and salt in the air. Work on it. See you next time.

Great Mediterranean food and French cuisine, nice atmosphere

A cozy little cafe. The wheat flour crepes were delicious. The savory ones with buckwheat flour are certainly special. Minuses: Unfortunately, the staff wasn't in a good mood at all, careless, hectic, unfocused and not exactly hospitable.

If I could give this place a 10-star review (out of 5), I'd do it without hesitation. Perfect atmosphere, friendly staff, the menu... well, the variety of delicious dishes is impressive. And all that for quite affordable prices. I'll definitely come back and bring my friends with me!

Unfortunately, egg tarts weren't good and were too expensive for the service. Service was very nice and too frequent but we waited 60 minutes for our 4 pancakes.

There were four of us there today. But I made a reservation there in good time for today. I really liked everything there - selection of dishes, food itself, service, ambience, the location of the café. My fish soup was delicious and my crepe was fantastic. The shop is highly recommended and I am glad that I discovered this café. I'll definitely come back.

My expectations were high I've eaten original galettes in Paris before. Bake some at home regularly. The atmosphere is beautifully rustic. The waitress was a bit annoyed and then it was OK but not anymore. The galette wasn't very crispy on the outside and was served with a simple and tasteless Emmental cheese. A few slices of Serrano ham on top. I lacked taste and sophistication. I know original galettes from France with special cheese and taste. I was a bit disappointed because I paid almost 20 EU with a drink. Was a bit too much for what I got. Price-performance is not very good.

Meine Erwartungen waren groß, es hat mir aber deutlich an Geschmack und Raffinesse gefehlt. Crepe war auch nicht knusprig außen. Preis-Leistung stimmt nicht ganz. Ich kenne Galettes in Paris mit besondere Käse und Zutaten. Ambiente rustikal. Bedienung war OK, aber nicht mehr.

I ordered the Coq au vin dish and it was fantastic. The waiter was very nice.

Very tasty galettes (all vegetarian options available upon request). The service person was super nice and obviously experienced, which made the whole experience simply pleasant. What I also liked: The foreword to the menu mentions where the flour is sourced from and where their cider comes from. All in all, a relaxed, pleasant and delicious lunch. We'd love to come back.

We wanted to spend a few nice hours there today because of a birthday. So far I've only had good experiences. The food is really delicious. Unfortunately I was extremely disappointed today... The sun was shining, so we spontaneously put two tables together. Shortly afterwards we were approached by the waitress in such an unfriendly tone, how dare we make this decision on our own. The tables and street would be destroyed - that's what they said. “Ratsch” did it and they were apart again. If everyone moved their table like the waitress, then definitely ;) I'm stunned by the unfriendliness of the service, since we really didn't have any bad intentions. Even in an argument, I don't speak like that to the person I'm talking to and this comparison means something. The surrounding guests looked at us with pity. We went because you don't want to spend hours there. Too bad for the birthday child... I will probably avoid this restaurant in the future. Ps: Even one star is too many. I'm really horrified.

Always worth a visit and has been for years. Spring, summer, autumn and even winter you always have a great time there with damn delicious crepes.

The quiche itself was very tasty. Side dishes weren't great, the dip tasted like simple ready-made quark, the baguette was absolutely cheap. Prices too high for that. Service could be better, inflexible.

Wow, more than the food, which by the way is very good, I was delighted with the service of one of the waiters who was always super willing to serve us, and even tried to speak our language and that made it very special. Now yes, the delicious food , the spectacular desserts and the delicious atmosphere to spend an afternoon...

Actually one of our favorite restaurants in Potsdam, but we weren't quite as happy with the food the last two times. One of our plates wasn't really clean and something from the previous person was stuck to it🫣 With that being said, we were otherwise always super happy with the food and the service.

My recent visit to this crêperie in Potsdam was a mixed experience. The galettes, while decent, didn't stand out. The cheese used in the galettes was quite ordinary, lacking the distinct flavors one might expect from a crêperie. On a brighter note, the dessert was delightful. The moelleux au chocolat served with ice cream was a highlight, offering a rich and satisfying end to the meal. Overall, it's an okay spot for a casual meal, but there is room for improvement.

The food is okay. Very unfriendly and rxcixt staff. We were a international queer group, they refuse to show us the menu (we could order just sweet creps). Never had such a bad service in my live. Unless you are a white german from the suburbs I don’t recommend to go there. They are clearly buying good reviews.
