The place is pleasant, with comfortable chairs and outdoor seating, and the interior is cool. The food isn't great, but it's tasty. I ordered the salmon bowl, although it was more rice than salmon. The staff was very friendly; the girl who served me kindly looked up a German word to English on her phone so I could explain it to me. The only downside was the wait for the food: over 30 minutes. The kitchen staff was very slow.

Despite the large number of guests, Christian remains super friendly and professional. We've been here twice now, and the food was delicious both times.

Unfortunately, on a chilly Sunday morning, we encountered a somewhat inflexible situation. Outside, only the tables in the shade were set. Since we would have preferred a sunny and warm spot, we sat at a table in the sun – directly one row away. When I politely asked if we could sit there, I was unfortunately declined, as that row was not "open" and no service was being provided there. It's a shame, because there were only a few tables, and a little flexibility would have made our stay very pleasant. So we decided to leave.

It's a lovely outdoor seating area in the shade of the town hall. The scrambled eggs with salmon and avocado were delicious, but the flat white was a bit strong and small for €4.20. Generally speaking, it's a bit pricey, but that's probably due to the location.

Four of us ate here and everyone loved it! The iced matcha is highly recommended, and the bowls were also a 10/10. A slightly longer wait time this time of year is forgivable, honestly :)

Rude and unfriendly – absolutely not recommended Today at Café Cotidiano on Alter Wall, we were treated in a manner I've never experienced before in Hamburg. The excuse was "no more capacity" – the waitress's tone and behavior were disrespectful, condescending, and simply unprofessional. That's not how you treat guests. Anyone expecting friendliness and hospitality is in the wrong place. Save yourself the trip and spend your money somewhere where you'll be welcomed and not made to feel unwanted. One star so I can give this review!!

Today at 6:50 p.m., I encountered an extremely unpleasant situation in your café, which left me with the feeling of complete disrespect for the customer. I sat outside for about 10 minutes, but no one came to take my order. After a longer wait, I went inside and politely asked the waitress to take my order. Instead, she responded rudely and told me to go back outside, promising that she would meet me there. About 10 minutes later, she did come outside—but only to serve other customers. She pointedly walked past me, even though she clearly saw me—we made eye contact. I had to approach her again and ask if I could finally order. She exclaimed, "Yes," in irritation, but immediately complained that I was on my phone—even though I was only doing so because I had already been ignored for over 20 minutes. She has no right to comment on whether I'm on my phone or not. That's not part of her job. Her job is to serve the guest, take their order, and deliver it within a reasonable time. Commenting on the guest's behavior is completely unprofessional. Instead of calmly taking my order, she yelled at me in front of everyone, accused me of not coming to me because I was on the phone, and loudly shouted that I could "order coffee"—then brusquely turned away from me and walked back into the restaurant without taking my order. Such behavior is absolutely unacceptable. I came to the café to spend some quiet time, but instead I was publicly humiliated and not served at all. I had to leave because it became clear that the waitress was deliberately refusing to take my order. If she hates people, she should find another job.

Absolutely fantastic ambience, very attentive service and the food was absolutely great.

Very loud and noisy, if you want to go with a group, you won't be able to sit and talk quietly. I was very upset that I asked the waiters to sit in the back of the room, where it was quieter, but they didn't allow it. That's why unfortunately one star, the food was also so-so. The coffee was delicious, that's why 4 stars.

Everything was great. Especially the great service that looked after us today. We had breakfast. The food was delicious, and the lady was incredibly attentive to the children. I would recommend it to everyone. And, okay, the walk to the restrooms can be a bit of a world tour (if you miss the elevator 🤣), but it was still great. Great food, great ambiance, top-notch service, and, most importantly, attentive. If I lived in the area, I would definitely come here more often. 👍

Delicious food, good matcha and friendly staff.

I've been going to Cotidiano since the beginning. But today was the last time! The worst service ever. No service outside despite the sun and 24+ degrees Celsius, and the kitchen is closed for two hours! Unfortunately, the food isn't what it used to be; the portions have gotten noticeably smaller. It's a nice place in the center, but unfortunately, that's not enough!

We went for breakfast on a day when they were understaffed, but our very lovely server warned us beforehand that there would be a 30 minute wait for the food, so it was okay. Our server (whose name I unfortunately didn’t catch) also kindly gave us complimentary orange juice because of the long wait! The oriental hummus toast and the egg bagel were both delicious. Pink latte and Golden latte were also good. Amazing location. Service was absolutely perfect, atmosphere was great. Would definitely recommend!

We were there on a Monday morning. Unfortunately, we were the only ones serving because, according to the server, two people were absent. The restaurant was full to the last table. We had to wait a long time for the food to arrive at our table and also to pay. But I have to say that the gentleman serving did his best and was always friendly. Next time, it might be better to have someone else serving instead of two people standing behind the bar preparing the drinks... Our table had a direct view of the kitchen, so it was rather noisy and the ambience mediocre. The quality of the food, however, was excellent.

We came here twice for breakfast during our trip to Hamburg — on Sunday and Tuesday. It gets quite crowded, so I recommend making a reservation. On weekdays, however, it’s much quieter. The breakfast menu is quite extensive, and the indoor seating capacity is also large. I was very satisfied with everything I had. Their matcha latte and cappuccino were excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is stylish, comfortable, and calm, and the music playing was pleasant. The restroom was also clean. I’d love to try it for dinner as well. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Hamburg.

We chose this place for breakfast two mornings during our Hamburg holiday. It was quite crowded when we arrived on Sunday, so a reservation might be a good idea. On weekdays, it was very quiet and empty. The place is quite large, with both indoor and outdoor seating. We tried different breakfast plates. The food is fresh and delicious. The portions are large and filling. The prices are average. The staff is friendly and courteous. Unfortunately, the service is quite slow (especially on a crowded Sunday). The indoor and outdoor atmosphere and design are very good. I recommend this place for a pleasant breakfast. I just want to make a small warning about the restaurant's management: While the rattan pendant lights look nice, they have seem to caused a fly problem. Resolving this issue would improve the atmosphere.

We had breakfast here today. It was simply fantastic, and the waiter was very attentive, a sales genius with a heart! A breakfast experience like no other.

We visited the restaurant with great anticipation and wanted to sit outside – but not in the blazing sun. Although several tables were available and there were plenty of umbrellas, any flexibility was denied: We weren't allowed to move a table slightly, nor were we allowed to open an umbrella. The explanation seemed trumped up, and the tone was unnecessarily abrupt. Service isn't what we'd call a "good" one. We didn't feel welcome and left. It's a shame – that doesn't leave a good impression.

The food was incredibly delicious, and even vegans had a good selection. The service was decent; some were overly enthusiastic, while others were rather unmotivated, but perhaps that was due to the heat. The restrooms were very clean and wheelchair accessible for those with limited mobility.

I've been to Cotidiano several times. Unfortunately, the menu is constantly being revised. After the last change, the menu consists almost exclusively of burgers, the bowls have been reduced, and other really great dishes are no longer available. Every time the menu is revised, the restaurant becomes less interesting. Cotidiano used to stand out for its varied cuisine, but unfortunately, that's no longer the case. Sometimes the service is fabulous, and the staff are attentive and friendly, and sometimes the service is awful and makes you want to run away. The ambiance itself is very nice.

I do love this place. My first time in Cotidiano was in München. It was so lovely. And now, I’m in Hamburg… Such a good atmosphere, coffee is wonderful and tasty, food is amazing. Cotidiano is one of my favorite places.💛✨

The coffee was great. The Avocado toast (deluxe) and chicken bagel were also great. The waiter was friendly. It is just the price too high comparing its portion. You won’t feel satisfied after eating anyways. 2025/06

Buscando una alternativa al escandaloso desayuno de 55 € de nuestro hotel, y no una gran cantidad de opciones, terminamos aquí por 2 días de los 3. Elección razonable de platos de tipo centroeuropeo, que eran decentes y llenos. Excelente jugo de naranja grande que evidentemente había salido de una naranja, no de un cartón. Mención especial al camarero increíblemente educado, que estaba por su cuenta el 2o día debido a la escasez de personal y tener que esperar en un restaurante lleno. Hizo el trabajo de 4 personas y debe estar agotado. Espero que lo cuiden, ya que es un activo al 100%.

We only had a quick snack. My friends only had coffee. Food was good. I had the Cotis Smash burger and it was surprisingly good. Nice ambience, very welcoming and friendly staff.

Based on the positive reviews, we reserved a table there for breakfast, and all I can say is: It was simply fantastic. The service was extremely friendly and attentive. The coffee and prosecco were excellent. We went back two days later 😅 I tried the Egg Drop Classic and Strammer Max from the menu...both highly recommended.

Beautiful location in a central location. I was there on a Saturday, and it was packed. The breakfast and cakes were delicious.

We went there spontaneously and received a very friendly welcome. We even got a table for six people. The service was great and the food was absolutely delicious! We came back on the second day and will be back.

The location is excellent, the food is up to the usual Cotidiano standard. However, the staff's ability to deal with stressful situations professionally was almost non-existent. Overall, the behavior of the employees led to a very disappointing experience. Despite making a reservation in advance, we were seated at a table right by the front door. When we politely asked whether a window seat was possible, the employee responded with an annoyed expression on his face - as if we were a burden. He continued walking without an answer, turned around after a few meters and simply called out: “I’ll take a look.” A large cup of coffee was missing when the drinks were served. Noticing this, we politely tried to get the staff's attention. However, we were then reprimanded: “There’s no waving here, we have a lot to do.” After that we were consistently ignored. The food was a long time coming and a cup of coffee was still missing. We informed a server at the next table about the missing order - nothing happened. It was only around five minutes later, after we had asked the original waiter about it again, that a normal large cup of lukewarm coffee was brought - not the variant we had originally ordered. The error was apparently caused by an incorrect entry into the system, but the staff showed no willingness to correct this or apologize. The negative highlight was paying: the waiter pointedly placed the card reader on the table and asked in an inappropriate tone whether we would like to tip 10, 20 or 30 percent - without even a hint of irony or self-reflection. What had originally been a relaxed and friendly breakfast visit to Cotidiano unfortunately turned into a frustrating experience. Conclusion: The staff should urgently be trained - in dealing with stress professionally, but above all in respectful and attentive service to guests.

Quite a nice restaurant here. Looks pretty inside, and the masala bowl I had was super nice. Make sure to add the plant based ‘chicken’ to it for a well rounded dish. Green smoothie was nice. Quite a lot of other vegan options on the menu to try. Mostly bowls and burgers. I enjoyed!

When the sun comes out there are seats outside at the front

Unfortunately I can't judge the food...it didn't happen. I made a reservation, but still had to wait 5-7 minutes, everything was ok but then things really started... my friend wanted to change seats and I asked nicely but it wasn't possible, suddenly more seats became available and my friend asked herself if we could take the other seats... the waiter was so cheeky and said to us: "You're welcome to go too, we're fully booked anyway." So we decided to leave the restaurant immediately...we no longer felt comfortable and will never go there again. P.S. And you gossip when the customers are at least already outside.

We took refuge in this restaurant during the rain, and what a wonderful surprise! The welcome is very warm, the decor is beautiful, and the food is very good. The prices are reasonable, and we highly recommend the golden latte, which was incredible. We highly recommend it!

We wanted to sit in the front, sunny area. We were forbidden to do that. Apparently all tables at the front should be reserved. There was neither a sign on the tables nor did new guests sit at all the front tables. I suspect that the curt waiter with his flippant manner was waiting for someone else. Not nice.

We were here on a Monday lunchtime. The service was very attentive, even though the server tried every opportunity to upsell us. I had a bowl with yogurt chicken, which turned out to be more of a simple curry rice dish. Bowls used to be better. It was quite tasty. The burger, however, looked significantly better. The prices are reasonable.

The Cotidiano on the Alter Wall impresses with a great atmosphere, delicious food and great drinks. The service is super friendly and helpful, but sometimes it takes a little longer to get attention again. Still a nice place for a relaxed breakfast or a drink - I'll be happy to come back!

Right after visiting the Bucerius Art Forum I was still hungry and this restaurant offered itself. In the beautiful weather in Hamburg, I sat down at one of the outside tables. The service was there quickly and took the order with top Hamburg slang. I ordered the Golden Milk, but with oat milk as an alternative. Plus, because it was still early, a Sunny Crunch Bowl, also with the alternative oat milk. Both were very delicious. I can only recommend this restaurant ☺️

Wir haben uns mit unseren erwachsenen Kindern in Hamburg zu einem Familienausflug über 3 Tage getroffen . Gefrühstückt haben wir an allen 3 Tagen im Cotidiano. Hier stimmt einfach alles. Das Wohlfühlgefühl fing mit dem Empfang an. Die Bedienung, das Frühstück , der Kaffee, das Ambiente…alles zu unserer vollsten Zufriedenheit. Das Cotidiano setzt seine Philosophie lt. Internetseite hier voll um. Wir waren sehr zufrieden. Der Start in den Tag wurde uns hier sehr verschönert.

The service was top notch. The food was great too. A bit noisy due to the "abundance" of people - but that's normal on a busy Saturday.

The food here was fantastic. I don't usually order vegan or vegetarian dishes, but their plant based "chicken" burger was incredibly good. Their matcha latte is also fantastic as are their desserts. We have gone twice and we have thus far not managed to order anything that isn't delicious!

We had breakfast here on our departure day and were thrilled with the great breakfast selection. The eggdrop sandwiches and pancakes are recommended. Service was also super friendly and attentive. We were very satisfied. We will definitely come back on the next trip to Hamburg!

Wie schon der Titel sagt, der Service war prima, freundlich und aufmerksam! Ambiente ebenfalls super! Das Essen hingegen eine unfassbare Frechheit. Ceasar Burger mit Pommes, frittiertes Stück Hähnchenfleisch, mit 2 Salatblättern, Scheibe Tomate, ein paar Zwiebelchen und dann für den Preis, Vollkatastrophe! Das Frühstück hingegen sieht da auf den Bildern besser aus. Leider wird es für mich hier jedoch keinen weiteren Besuch geben.

Nice spot for brunch/lunch with a broad menu. There were vegan and vegetarian options. There was a mix up with our order but it was resolved promptly.

We reserved a table in the main room of this cafe four weeks ago. When we arrived, however, we were seated in the next room, directly in front of the toilet, without any explanation. When we asked in a friendly manner, the employee reacted annoyed and said that it was tiring to explain everything to customers several times. As we were leaving, we mentioned the experience again, only to be met with a rude “What’s wrong with you?” Unfriendly service, zero customer orientation - that's not how you treat guests. Never again!

Even the reservation on the phone was super friendly and personable. When we entered the restaurant we immediately said that we just wanted to have a quick coffee. Nevertheless, we were served as courteously as someone who wanted to have an expensive meal. Many thanks to Christian (restaurant manager, managing director?), who made a great impression with his warmth and professionalism. Next time we'll actually have a bigger meal! 😃

Update 02/02/25: unfortunately it has dropped significantly and in my opinion no longer justifies the price. Too bad. Potential for a new favorite place. Excellent card. Very careful about quality and filling portions. Unsweetened iced tea is also great. The steak and egg breakfast is my absolute favorite. It's also nice to sit outside when the sun is shining.

Very tasty breakfast. I had the Egg Drop Classic, which I highly recommend. My fresh mint tea was difficult to drink because the leaves were not on the stem but rather floating around in the glass in small pieces. We had very friendly and cheerful service. The ambience is nice. However, it is a bit loud at times - perhaps something could be done to reduce the volume. Sitting at the door can get a bit cold in winter when there are a lot of people waiting and don't close the door.

Had to wait a long time for drinks and food. Portions were small for the price. However, it was also very full.

Six of us were in the restaurant in the evening for a birthday and a visit to HH. Visually really appealing, the service staff attentive and helpful. The five burger dishes, like the French fries, were only lukewarm when they were served, but after a benevolent test (who likes to complain, mistakes happen) we decided to complain after 2 minutes. The employee clearly had to question the manager; we found his facial expressions and reaction to be unworthy. For example, instead of clarifying the expectation of the solution in a personal conversation and thus sending a positive signal about the value of the guests, the employee was then allowed to offer us a new portion of fries free of charge. We refused. May the owners and each reader evaluate for themselves the extent to which the manager's behavior meets the company's attitude and the standards of hospitality for guests. Incl. the error culture. At least five complaints on a table of 6. Six multipliers in one fell swoop upset by ignorance, considerable in this day and age.

We were there on a Saturday with the family and ate with 6 of us. 5x burgers, 1x bowl. The restaurant itself is very nice, the waitress is super friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, the meat on two burgers was absolutely cold, the rest were rather lukewarm. We complained about the two cold burgers, but after our waitress agreed with the manager (which was visible to us), she was only allowed to offer us new fries (but they weren't the problem). The manager reacted to the waitress's request visibly unimpressed and as if he didn't care. It's a shame that so little emphasis is placed on customer satisfaction and that it is simply dismissed - it would have been so easy.

A valid coupon (NeoTaste) was not accepted even though the waitress claimed it was still valid before the order was placed. When paying, they said it was no longer valid. After we paid, we asked for a refund because it was basically a scam and we didn't want to put up with it. Then they said we couldn't refund it because we had already paid. Well, that's a shame. Food was okay, but it took a long time. Ambiance was okay, but very loud. It's a shame that you're lured there only to be shit on... oh well

The ambience is very nice, but there is a lot of room for improvement in terms of service, hence 0/5 stars. Even though the restaurant wasn't full, it took almost an hour until we had our 2 orders (2 breads). When asked, no apology was given or a reason was explained (e.g. that there was a lot going on), as is usually the case. Shortly afterwards the food arrived. Unfortunately we found it to be too expensive for the small portions. I had a bread for €13 and it almost looked like a tail piece with a bit of avocado on top. It wasn't seasoned at all. My girlfriend had toast with bacon. First the bacon was forgotten, which can happen sometimes. It was then brought upon request. However, we found €2 for two mini pieces of bacon very steep. We also didn't ask if we would like to drink something else after the drinks had already been empty for half an hour. Several attempts to order something were ignored. Until then we weren't in a bad mood. However, that changed when we saw the waitress's reaction to the tip. Apparently she felt the amount of the tip was too small, or at least she responded by rolling her eyes, which we found very inappropriate. No goodbye or happy new year was said either, the brown-haired waitress simply turned around and left. We will not go here again and can only advise against it.

Beware of fraud. The food tastes mediocre and the portions are small. We had a voucher from the Neo-Tasted app which was rejected despite being valid and asking before and after the meal. When my husband asked, he was told that no one had said it couldn't be redeemed and that he could now pay with a voucher. However, we had already paid. We didn't get our money back. In the NeoTased app we saw further cases where this happened.

Super unfriendly, we were welcomed on December 31st. at 12:30 noon rejected that no more customers are accepted. That was 2.5 hours before closing time.

Was turned away in the evening by the boss with the words “we have no more food, the kitchen still has to prepare it”. At least we were “allowed” to drink something. The nice service staff then allowed us to have a meal. With the words “just say nothing”. Interesting experience, the reasons for which I can only speculate.

Unfortunately I wasn't happy with the food and service. The scrambled eggs were cold and unseasoned, and the bagel was dry. I felt that the quality of the food was not adequate for the price. I felt like the service after paying didn't show the same level of respect that I expect as a guest. I have worked in the restaurant industry and know how stressful the job can be. However, I expect that every guest will be treated equally, regardless of the amount of the tip. A simple thank you or a friendly goodbye would have been greatly appreciated. I think the waiter is used to getting more tips because it was a “fancy” brunch. In my opinion it's not justified because I don't expect a restaurant that wants to sell itself like that to wait 40 minutes for my food and then it's cold. Regardless of this, every guest must be treated equally, including the guest who wears vans and baggies (wide pants, casual). I like to pay a good tip with good food and good service. Unfortunately that wasn't the case and the €5 tip was well-intentioned 😉 I hope you find this feedback constructive and perhaps consider some improvements. Feel free to try out small cafes in Hamburg that may not be in the best location but treat people humanely and offer great breakfasts with great prices and great quality.

Muy caro para lo que es. granola de yogur con frutas, significa plátano con una cuchara de yogur! Cuando nos quejamos, recibí yogur extra. Qué lástima que se perdiera esa oportunidad la primera vez.

If you want to eat delicious food and experience the happiest waiter in the world, you have to eat there! We felt super comfortable. The winter dream was the highlight.

Very nicely decorated restaurant and friendly service. However, the food is very expensive and the portions are small. 2€ for 2 slices of bacon? Must be a gold pig... Unfortunately the smoothies aren't good. Blueberry tastes too strongly of banana and peel and the Tropical is difficult to drink due to its thick liquid. Fresh orange juice also comes from the 2l bottle with a label and not from the press in the restaurant. All in all, unfortunately not a recommendation.
