Cotidiano Alter Wall - Frühstück, Restaurant & Bar Hamburg in Hamburg

We wanted to sit in the sunny area at the front. We were told not to. Apparently, all the tables at the front were reserved. There was no sign on the tables, nor were any new guests sitting at the front tables. I suspect the short-tempered waiter with his flippant manner was waiting for someone else. Not nice.

We were here on a Monday lunchtime. The service was very attentive, even though the server tried every opportunity to upsell us. I had a bowl with yogurt chicken, which turned out to be more of a simple curry rice dish. Bowls used to be better. It was quite tasty. The burger, however, looked significantly better. The prices are reasonable.

The Cotidiano on the Alter Wall impresses with a great atmosphere, delicious food and great drinks. The service is super friendly and helpful, but sometimes it takes a little longer to get attention again. Still a nice place for a relaxed breakfast or a drink - I'll be happy to come back!

Right after visiting the Bucerius Art Forum I was still hungry and this restaurant offered itself. In the beautiful weather in Hamburg, I sat down at one of the outside tables. The service was there quickly and took the order with top Hamburg slang. I ordered the Golden Milk, but with oat milk as an alternative. Plus, because it was still early, a Sunny Crunch Bowl, also with the alternative oat milk. Both were very delicious. I can only recommend this restaurant ☺️

The service was top notch. The food was great too. A bit noisy due to the "abundance" of people - but that's normal on a busy Saturday.

We had breakfast here on our departure day and were thrilled with the great breakfast selection. The eggdrop sandwiches and pancakes are recommended. Service was also super friendly and attentive. We were very satisfied. We will definitely come back on the next trip to Hamburg!

The food here was fantastic. I don't usually order vegan or vegetarian dishes, but their plant based "chicken" burger was incredibly good. Their matcha latte is also fantastic as are their desserts. We have gone twice and we have thus far not managed to order anything that isn't delicious!

I do love this place. My first time in Cotidiano was in München. It was so lovely. And now, I’m in Hamburg… Such a good atmosphere, coffee is wonderful and tasty, food is amazing. Cotidiano is one of my favorite places.💛✨

Nice spot for brunch/lunch with a broad menu. There were vegan and vegetarian options. There was a mix up with our order but it was resolved promptly.

We had a nice experience. Nice and attentive service, good food for breakfast.

We reserved a table in the main room of this cafe four weeks ago. When we arrived, however, we were seated in the next room, directly in front of the toilet, without any explanation. When we asked in a friendly manner, the employee reacted annoyed and said that it was tiring to explain everything to customers several times. As we were leaving, we mentioned the experience again, only to be met with a rude “What’s wrong with you?” Unfriendly service, zero customer orientation - that's not how you treat guests. Never again!

Even the reservation on the phone was super friendly and personable. When we entered the restaurant we immediately said that we just wanted to have a quick coffee. Nevertheless, we were served as courteously as someone who wanted to have an expensive meal. Many thanks to Christian (restaurant manager, managing director?), who made a great impression with his warmth and professionalism. Next time we'll actually have a bigger meal! 😃

Update 02/02/25: unfortunately it has dropped significantly and in my opinion no longer justifies the price. Too bad. Potential for a new favorite place. Excellent card. Very careful about quality and filling portions. Unsweetened iced tea is also great. The steak and egg breakfast is my absolute favorite. It's also nice to sit outside when the sun is shining.

Very tasty breakfast. I had the Egg Drop Classic, which I highly recommend. My fresh mint tea was difficult to drink because the leaves were not on the stem but rather floating around in the glass in small pieces. We had very friendly and cheerful service. The ambience is nice. However, it is a bit loud at times - perhaps something could be done to reduce the volume. Sitting at the door can get a bit cold in winter when there are a lot of people waiting and don't close the door.

Were there on Sunday and it was really great! Service was really nice, the food was delicious and it was really very organized and quick even though it was full! 😊

Restaurant is very central but still somehow hidden. The food tastes good and tastes fresh. Service was friendly. Restaurant is nicely decorated. Toilets are accessible via an elevator without stairs.

Had to wait a long time for drinks and food. Portions were small for the price. However, it was also very full.

Six of us were in the restaurant in the evening for a birthday and a visit to HH. Visually really appealing, the service staff attentive and helpful. The five burger dishes, like the French fries, were only lukewarm when they were served, but after a benevolent test (who likes to complain, mistakes happen) we decided to complain after 2 minutes. The employee clearly had to question the manager; we found his facial expressions and reaction to be unworthy. For example, instead of clarifying the expectation of the solution in a personal conversation and thus sending a positive signal about the value of the guests, the employee was then allowed to offer us a new portion of fries free of charge. We refused. May the owners and each reader evaluate for themselves the extent to which the manager's behavior meets the company's attitude and the standards of hospitality for guests. Incl. the error culture. At least five complaints on a table of 6. Six multipliers in one fell swoop upset by ignorance, considerable in this day and age.

We were there on a Saturday with the family and ate with 6 of us. 5x burgers, 1x bowl. The restaurant itself is very nice, the waitress is super friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, the meat on two burgers was absolutely cold, the rest were rather lukewarm. We complained about the two cold burgers, but after our waitress agreed with the manager (which was visible to us), she was only allowed to offer us new fries (but they weren't the problem). The manager reacted to the waitress's request visibly unimpressed and as if he didn't care. It's a shame that so little emphasis is placed on customer satisfaction and that it is simply dismissed - it would have been so easy.

Beware of fraud. The food tastes mediocre and the portions are small. We had a voucher from the Neo-Tasted app which was rejected despite being valid and asking before and after the meal. When my husband asked, he was told that no one had said it couldn't be redeemed and that he could now pay with a voucher. However, we had already paid. We didn't get our money back. In the NeoTased app we saw further cases where this happened.

A valid coupon (NeoTaste) was not accepted even though the waitress claimed it was still valid before the order was placed. When paying, they said it was no longer valid. After we paid, we asked for a refund because it was basically a scam and we didn't want to put up with it. Then they said we couldn't refund it because we had already paid. Well, that's a shame. Food was okay, but it took a long time. Ambiance was okay, but very loud. It's a shame that you're lured there only to be shit on... oh well

The ambience is very nice, but there is a lot of room for improvement in terms of service, hence 0/5 stars. Even though the restaurant wasn't full, it took almost an hour until we had our 2 orders (2 breads). When asked, no apology was given or a reason was explained (e.g. that there was a lot going on), as is usually the case. Shortly afterwards the food arrived. Unfortunately we found it to be too expensive for the small portions. I had a bread for €13 and it almost looked like a tail piece with a bit of avocado on top. It wasn't seasoned at all. My girlfriend had toast with bacon. First the bacon was forgotten, which can happen sometimes. It was then brought upon request. However, we found €2 for two mini pieces of bacon very steep. We also didn't ask if we would like to drink something else after the drinks had already been empty for half an hour. Several attempts to order something were ignored. Until then we weren't in a bad mood. However, that changed when we saw the waitress's reaction to the tip. Apparently she felt the amount of the tip was too small, or at least she responded by rolling her eyes, which we found very inappropriate. No goodbye or happy new year was said either, the brown-haired waitress simply turned around and left. We will not go here again and can only advise against it.

Was turned away in the evening by the boss with the words “we have no more food, the kitchen still has to prepare it”. At least we were “allowed” to drink something. The nice service staff then allowed us to have a meal. With the words “just say nothing”. Interesting experience, the reasons for which I can only speculate.

Super unfriendly, we were welcomed on December 31st. at 12:30 noon rejected that no more customers are accepted. That was 2.5 hours before closing time.

Unfortunately I wasn't happy with the food and service. The scrambled eggs were cold and unseasoned, and the bagel was dry. I felt that the quality of the food was not adequate for the price. I felt like the service after paying didn't show the same level of respect that I expect as a guest. I have worked in the restaurant industry and know how stressful the job can be. However, I expect that every guest will be treated equally, regardless of the amount of the tip. A simple thank you or a friendly goodbye would have been greatly appreciated. I think the waiter is used to getting more tips because it was a “fancy” brunch. In my opinion it's not justified because I don't expect a restaurant that wants to sell itself like that to wait 40 minutes for my food and then it's cold. Regardless of this, every guest must be treated equally, including the guest who wears vans and baggies (wide pants, casual). I like to pay a good tip with good food and good service. Unfortunately that wasn't the case and the €5 tip was well-intentioned 😉 I hope you find this feedback constructive and perhaps consider some improvements. Feel free to try out small cafes in Hamburg that may not be in the best location but treat people humanely and offer great breakfasts with great prices and great quality.

Muy caro para lo que es. granola de yogur con frutas, significa plátano con una cuchara de yogur! Cuando nos quejamos, recibí yogur extra. Qué lástima que se perdiera esa oportunidad la primera vez.

Very warm service and great food.

If you want to eat delicious food and experience the happiest waiter in the world, you have to eat there! We felt super comfortable. The winter dream was the highlight.

Very nicely decorated restaurant and friendly service. However, the food is very expensive and the portions are small. 2€ for 2 slices of bacon? Must be a gold pig... Unfortunately the smoothies aren't good. Blueberry tastes too strongly of banana and peel and the Tropical is difficult to drink due to its thick liquid. Fresh orange juice also comes from the 2l bottle with a label and not from the press in the restaurant. All in all, unfortunately not a recommendation.

Had breakfast here during the week. The location is very central and quiet. We also got a table at short notice. The atmosphere is very pleasant and quiet, and not overcrowded. The portions are really big and fill you up. The price/performance ratio is reasonable, especially given the location. Can only recommend the restaurant

Perfect spot for brunch. The egg drop with honey mustard mayonnaise is an absolute recommendation. With first-class and friendly service. We always enjoy coming back.

We were once greeted unfriendly with the information that it would only be open for 2.5 hours, but we just wanted something to drink and we were then assigned a table. When the drinks we ordered weren't served after 40 minutes (despite our requests), we just left.

After about 45 minutes of waiting for the drink and asking several times, we got up again and left, even though only half of the restaurant was full. The waitress was already annoyed when we came and even more annoyed when we left. I can't recommend it, although the location looks very nice.

The food was really good, especially the appetizer platter. However, the main course bowl was similar to the starter platter, so we would choose something different next time. The service was great, even though there was only one person responsible - really well managed! Overall, highly recommended.

This morning the four of us had breakfast in this beautiful café - and it was just a dream! The atmosphere is incredibly inviting and cozy, you immediately feel at home. The waiter was the absolute highlight: despite the full house, he had fantastic energy and was always friendly and attentive. You could really feel how much he loves his job, and that made the visit special for us. Thank you for the warm service and this wonderful start to the day! We'll definitely be back. 5/5 stars!

Went here for breakfast and received very friendly service. Nice, cozy atmosphere. The price could have been a bit lower. But it was very tasty.

Was served a large cappuccino in a bowl without a handle, which means that you inevitably burn your paws when drinking and you need both hands to drink. Why guests are subjected to such inconveniences instead of serving coffee in a standard cup, as has been the custom since time immemorial, is beyond common sense.

I always enjoy coming to Cotidiano. Today, however, was different. I had to wait almost 40 minutes for my breakfast and then the scrambled eggs were cold. The few staff were very friendly and worked professionally. It wasn't until 11 a.m. that two more colleagues arrived. Too bad!

Despite being so centrally located, I have found a place of relative peace here. The service was very friendly, the food was good, although a bit lacking.

This was my second time at Cotidiano for breakfast and I can absolutely recommend it. In summer you can sit outside nicely. Now in winter we were indoors, which is nice in terms of atmosphere (modern and stylish), but can be very loud. The service was friendly on both visits, but unfortunately seemed a bit annoyed at times. The breakfast selection is great: smoothies, pancakes or sandwiches - everything tastes great. Gladly again.

I like the cafe near the town hall. The service is great and the food comes to the table quickly. They also have a great smoothie that I really like.

One of the best brunch places in town. Right next to Rathaus. They have a wide range of fusion toasts and sandwiches. I Recommend to try here

We enjoyed a wonderful breakfast at Cotidiano am Alten Wall and were completely satisfied! The selection of dishes was appealing and the quality of the food was excellent - everything was freshly prepared and tasted absolutely convincing. The staff was very attentive and friendly, which further underlined the pleasant atmosphere. What was particularly nice was that our breakfast was served quickly, without long waiting times. The price-performance ratio is also perfectly fine, given the quality and the ambience. A great breakfast experience that we would like to repeat. Absolute recommendation!

Es war sehr nett. Schönes Ambiente. Leider war es ziemlich kalt. Die Klimaanlage ist sehr kühl eingestellt. Deshalb sind wir schneller gegangen sonst hätten wir gerne noch verweilt.

Well, the reviews aren't that great, that should have made me suspicious. Now I spent a very nice afternoon at Wallter's with my birthday guests, as they got the table I had reserved after a 10-minute delay had immediately given away to other guests. As far as I know, they cooperate with the Buceriusmuseum, unfortunately the tour lasted 10 minutes longer. Well, service is Not your thing, then next time we'll go somewhere else!

Leider keine gute Erfahrung gemacht. Der von mir vorbestellte Tisch wurde nach knapp 10 Min Verspätung an andere Gäste vergeben. Die Führung im Museum nebenan hatte 5 Min. länger gedauert. Nächstes Mal gehe ich mit meinen Geburtstagsgästen lieber woanders hin.

Very nice restaurant with a great selection. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Visually, all the dishes look really appealing. Everything tasted good but not outstanding. Something special was missing. But the value for money is great and I can recommend a visit!

Hi I am Daniela and this is my review: Really great place to meet friends. Guys and girls working here are very friendly and they also speaks English. Food was really good. The place chic. I will for sure come back again ...A little update 6 months later... I came other times here and last Sunday I decided to celebrate here my birthday with friends who were not able to during the week. Cotidiano lost the booking, they gave us a table but they were quite slow to prepare it. After a while we moved the staff on the table on side and we took place, after 10min they came to clean. Orange juice served to 4 of my friends had wood taste, they changed 2 with charge. I asked if at the end of the launch I can open my cake and we would have taken coffee and cappuccino there. They said NO :-( Eventually we went to a close bar and I blew out the candles there with coffee, cappuccino and drinks and of course my cake! Sometimes flexibility is everything in customerscare!

I always walked past Cotidiano and looked at the menu and thought it would definitely be something for me too. On the last day in Hamburg. I had lunch there before I left and I have to say it was fantastic. Excellent place. Fairly standard prices and exceptional quality. The attention of the waiters was also very professional. We were served by a very nice young girl named Pauline.

The food (bowls) was very tasty, but the service still needs to be improved: we forgot our drinks, and “something went wrong” with the food we ordered at the neighboring table (the service staff's statement about the long waiting time). There is still a lot of room for improvement.

Zum Mittagessen gab es 3 warme Speisen. Bei kühlem Wetter war nichts zum Aufwärmen dabei. Die warme Kinderportion darf man nicht bestellen, wenn man über 11 Jahre alt ist. Das hab ich in meinem ganzen Leben noch nicht gehört. Um 13 Uhr möchte ich kein Frühstück mehr essen. Zum Aufwärmen haben wir Tee bestellt. Weil es kein passendes warmes Essen gab, hab ich wenigstens eine warme Belgische Waffel mit warem Beerenobst bestellt. Nach uns kamen mehrere Gäste. Die Mutter mit ihrem Kind hat nach uns bestellt. Sie haben gemütlich ihre Bowl und ihr belegstes Brot gegessen. Meine Waffel kam nachdem die beiden aufgegessen hatten. Ich habe noch nie eine so eklige Waffel gegessen. Völlig übersüßt, mit ekligen Zuckerklumpen drin. Das Obst dazu war dafür viel zu Säurelastig. Den Geschmack wurde ich erst im Chocoversum los, als ich die erste Waffel mit Schokolade probiert hab. Im Hotel gab es zum Frühstück Waffeln zum selbst ausbacken. Die waren wirklich sehr gut. Die Preise im Contidiano waren sehr hoch. Die Leistung extrem schlecht. Die Bedienungen waren aber sehr freundlich, deshalb gibt es sonst noch 2 Sterne. Der Rest war unterirdisch. Die Toiletten waren weit entfernt über mehrere Treppen und man musste durch schwere Türen durch. Ich frage mich, wie das jemand mit körperlicher Einschränkung schaffen soll. Ich werde da kein zweites Mal hin gehen.

Was there for lunch around 12pm. I was immediately greeted by a member of staff and allowed to choose the spot myself. Service was generally very friendly and we didn't have to wait long for the food. I had the Sweet and Salty Pancakes and thought everything was really beautifully presented. The bacon and fried egg were great, the pancakes themselves were a bit bland. My pomegranate lemonade could have used significantly less syrup. I found the atmosphere very cozy and quiet. The way to the toilets is a little longer, as is usual in the city center. Actually 4 stars, but the great service pushed it down to 5.

The atmosphere outside in the pedestrian zone opposite the town hall is nice, but the chairs could be more comfortable. The dishes are not delicatessen, but fresh and tasty (e.g. the vegan starter plate and the vegan tarte flambée). The service is friendly and flexible - freshly squeezed lemon juice was brought to the water upon request. Overall recommended.

The breakfast there is first class. The employees are courteous and nice. I'm already looking forward to the next time. :)

For me there is nothing to complain about here: the best location, attractive ambience, large outdoor area and a varied menu with many vegetarian and vegan cold and warm dishes from breakfast to dinner. Everyone will also get their money's worth when it comes to the choice of drinks. The overall picture is rounded off by attentive, friendly service and reasonable prices. I will probably be a guest more often.

Good lunch (food), nice place, reasonable prices, service less so. We ordered a children's menu that includes a drink, ice cream and “surprise”, but the scoop of ice cream was difficult to get, took a long time, and there was no more surprise = disappointed child. Felt like it was a problem. Also did not receive a receipt with specifications.

Even though the food was delicious, the terrible service put the entire experience in a bad light. It took 45 minutes before we could even place our order - despite repeated requests. A cappuccino was only served correctly on the third attempt. Unfortunately, the staff was not insightful, but rather stroppy. After we asked three times for the bill, we were told the amount, but the EC machine didn't work - no problem, we just wanted to get it. But then several other tables were billed. We then put the amount on the table in cash and informed the staff about it. Here too there was only a lack of understanding and stroppy behavior. All in all, unfortunately not worth recommending.
