The location is without question impressive and offers a nice ambience. However, the price-performance ratio leaves a lot to be desired. Our waiter didn't seem to be having a good day, which unfortunately affected the service. The food was okay, but not outstanding - we would have expected more for the price. Overall it was an average experience, which is why I give it three stars.

I was able to enjoy great sushi! The sushi made with fresh fish was exquisite and very delicious. The ginger cocktail was also great, with a great balance of aroma and taste. I would definitely like to visit again the next time I come to Hamburg!

The guests were seated very closely, although there was still enough space in the restaurant. Four guests probably then left the restaurant.

The food was delicious as always. Starter and main course were very good. The service seems stressed and headless. It starts with the lady who accompanies you to the place. The restaurant was freezing cold. When we asked, we were told that the heating was not enough in winter. Fan heaters were set up and blankets were distributed upon request. I don't want to have to freeze in such a high-priced restaurant.

So you don't need to say much here. Everything was perfect. We had dinner here and celebrated my son's birthday. As the icing on the cake there was a lovely labeled dessert surprise for my birthday. But I've already been here with the Essen company and, as I said, I was disappointed in Kietz. Always happy again.

We had the waiter bring a mix of cold and warm dishes. And all if it was quite delicious! Highly recommended

I've been to Coast several times and loved it every time. The food is of high quality, the ingredients are fresh, and the dishes are beautifully prepared. The service is first class - professional, attentive and always friendly. Dealing with a gluten-free diet is particularly positive. The team knows their stuff well and the kitchen has always ensured that everything is prepared safely and without gluten. This creates trust and makes the dining experience even more enjoyable. The location with a view of the harbor completes the whole thing well.

I visited this restaurant for the second time because of the great food. However, this time, I was with some of my international friends instead of my German friends, and my experience was completely different. An elderly German couple sat at the table next to us and stared at us the entire time, making us uncomfortable. At one point, we made eye contact, and the woman suddenly asked if we had a problem with her—this was shocking because she was the one staring at us in the first place. When we ordered our food, we told the waitress that we might order more later, and she agreed. However, when we tried to order again, she rudely told us that the kitchen was closed, repeatedly saying “No, no, no” in an unprofessional manner. Later, I asked for soy sauce, which should have already been on the table. Instead of simply bringing it, the waitress snapped at me, saying, “I’m working, can’t you see? I’ll give it to you when I have time.” I had brought my friend a flower, and the restaurant was kind enough to put it in a vase for me. As we were leaving, my friend took a napkin from the table to dry the stem so that water wouldn’t drip onto the floor. The second she picked it up, the waitress shouted at her in an extremely rude manner, telling her she wasn’t allowed to take it. To make matters worse, the elderly couple next to us started openly judging us and talking in our faces. It was humiliating. Anyone dining at a restaurant with such high prices is certainly not in need of a napkin. And even if she truly thought I was trying to take it, she could have waited to see if I actually walked away with it before making a scene. Overall, this experience was embarrassing and upsetting. The racist behavior from both the waitress and the couple next to us, combined with the terrible service, made it clear that we were being treated differently. For a restaurant at this price point, good service and a welcoming atmosphere should be the bare minimum. Unfortunately, this was the worst dining experience I’ve ever had. If you are not white, I strongly recommend avoiding this place—you will likely be treated differently.

We went to this restaurant yesterday and it was a special day as it was my birthday. Unfortunately we felt very uncomfortable. The waitress was passive aggressive the entire time and treated us like she was better than us. I don’t want to use the word “racism,” but that’s exactly what it felt like. Especially because we felt like we were the only foreigners in the restaurant that evening. After we ordered our food, we made it clear that we would like to order more as soon as the sushi was served. When the sushi came, we found one roll delicious and wanted to order a second portion. But the waitress suddenly told us that the kitchen was already closed. She could have tipped us off beforehand when we mentioned that we were still waiting for our sushi. Her answer was also very unfriendly. Still, as always, we tipped, even if she didn't deserve it. When we wanted to leave, I wanted to take the flowers I got for my birthday. Since there was a little water dripping from the flowers, I wanted to dry them with my napkin. But the waitress said loudly, among other guests, that the napkin was not meant to be taken away, as if we had wanted to steal it. Of course the guests next to us noticed this. Until now I have never felt as unwelcome as I did in this restaurant.

The Coast is simply awesome! We had an incredibly lovely lunch there and were looked after so warmly and competently by Ebru that it was a real experience. Not only did she guide us through the entire lunch menu in a very friendly manner, but she also went out of her way to fulfill our every wish. It's rare to find service like this - really great! The ambience is beautiful, you immediately feel at home, and the view is a real highlight. The food? Incredible – incredibly tasty, perfectly coordinated and lovingly prepared. Plus the drinks – creative, refreshing and just plain awesome! One thing is certain for us: we will definitely come back! Anyone in the area simply has to see and experience the Coast. Thanks for this great day and a huge shout out to Ebru – she made our visit special!

We went to Coast by East in December on a recommendation and had a table in the back of the restaurant. Unfortunately we had a huge family clan including raging children at the next table. Children ran around without shoes and a remote-controlled racing car drove through the area. As a result, the atmosphere resembled that of a fast food restaurant at a long-distance train station. What was positive was the proactive apology from our really friendly waiter, who apparently didn't like this situation either. My suggestion would be to consistently exercise house rules in comparable cases and ask the troublemakers to leave. At least two stars for the ambience, as the location gave a clean and stylish impression. The service was OK, but not great either. After all, it wasn't even possible to give us another table when we asked. Nevertheless, it was possible to make adjustments to the neighboring table until it was finally comfortable for the family and no longer drafty. There were still free tables. All in all, the food was okay. Nicely arranged and manageable. However, the quality was good. Overall, 4 stars for the food and at least two for the overall experience, also in terms of price-performance. The bill for two people was just over €200 and could have been higher if the ambience had been right. There are certainly alternatives.

This restaurant is always a highlight. The food is first class and the service is more than accommodating. The plants on the walls make the interior very special. Unfortunately the price level is a bit higher.

Unfortunately disappointing – run carelessly After good sushi experiences at the East Hotel near the Reeperbahn, I visited this restaurant in Hamburg's Hafencity yesterday. Unfortunately, my visit left an overall disappointing impression. As soon as you enter, you notice the seemingly careless atmosphere: in front of the entrance area, the cloakroom area seemed disorganized. Clothes hangers were left on a cupboard and everything was pretty shabby and uninviting. In the reception area there is an extension cable that is messily placed around the desk and is an obvious tripping hazard. The room itself was pompous but unfortunately far too cold - almost unbearable without a jacket. The sushi for €57 was unfortunately worse in terms of taste and quality than in the East Hotel, so it was only mediocre and not worth the high price. The walk to the toilets reinforced the negative impression: the small mirror elements with candles were partially broken or completely removed, and the candle wax had spilled over unsightly. The toilet area itself was not well maintained - especially the sink and the walls to the left and right of the towels had unsightly limescale deposits / traces of limescale. Overall, the restaurant leaves the impression that it is run carelessly and not optimally maintained. That's a shame, especially in an area like Hafencity, where you expect a different level - especially with the prices being asked. There is definitely some catching up to do here, both in terms of the maintenance of the restaurant and the price-performance ratio of the food. Unfortunately no recommendation.

Of course it's a bit more expensive, but the food is worth every euro!!! Additionally, the service was great. With us a young, motivated and quick-witted man gave his best!!! Reservation is recommended!

Unser Tisch war im hintersten Eck des Restaurants. Leider ist die Beleuchtung defekt, sodass wir unter "Flutlicht" und einem Heizlüfter sitzen mussten. Der Service war langsam, jedoch freundlich. Die Speisen waren alle durchschnittlich, nichts herausragendes - bei Vorspeisen um 25 EUR und einem Hauptgericht von 40 EUR. Brot oder ein Amuse während der Wartezeiten gab es nicht. Ich würde dort nicht mehr essen. Da hat die Stadt in Preis und Leistung deutlich mehr zu bieten.

The food and service are good, but not to the extent that the prices are justified. I don't find the ambience and location particularly exciting. The loud music and tight seating arrangement made conversation difficult. Overall I was disappointed. The price-performance ratio doesn't fit. 170 euros for two people and at home I had to make a sandwich.

As a fan of classic sushi and sashimi, my toenails sometimes curl up here. But if you say what you want, it works, and it's super tasty! So great service and something for all preferences

Very tasty sushi. Selection and quality are definitely at a very high level. The service is friendly and attentive. However, with a reservation time of two hours, there is a bit of a tight schedule with starter, main course and dessert. The coffee is also highly recommended and the atmosphere is really great and cozy.

Sushi & Sashimi á la Chef is a chef's creation that will explode the taste buds. A little bit of everything, very high quality, top quality and unique. An extensive wine and cocktail list, the waterfront location and the very friendly service made our visit a culinary experience. We would love to come back.

By far the best sushi restaurant!

A great space, like an upside down ship. Great service. Unfortunately the food can't keep up at all. The tempura were small scampi like from take-away, full of store-bought sauce. Salt, soup and sushi were ok. Unfortunately not anymore. I would say a bad price-performance ratio. What I don't understand at all with the name East and the concept of sushi etc is the Wassee from Italy and the huge poster with spaghetti 🍝

Friday afternoon/ evening reservation for a family group of 6 adults, two 2yos, one 1yo and two dogs. Super atmosphere thanks to amazing staff. Other guests were kind and seemed happy. Any additional request was handled really well. Food was absolutely delicious. And price was adequate given the quality and taste. Will come again and will recommend. 5/5 stars. Keep it up coast by east! 🫶🏽

We were completely impressed by the restaurant. Particularly noteworthy is the first-class service from the waitress, who made the evening perfect with her attentiveness and friendliness. No wish remained unfulfilled, she interacted with us throughout the evening without seeming intrusive and gave very good recommendations. The sushi and especially the miso were excellent - the dessert of the day recommended by the waitress, which is not on the menu, should be highlighted. The cocktails are absolutely recommended. Each of them is specially coordinated and creatively designed.
