Citta Vegan Izakaya in Hamburg

Been there for the second time. It was again very tasty and the operators are super nice!

The Citta Vegan Izakaya in Grindelhof is one of the restaurants that I always particularly look forward to: pleasant, quiet atmosphere, exceptionally friendly service and really incredibly good cuisine! Always a little happiness!

Sowohl die Tapas als auch die Bowls haben den Veganern und Nicht-Veganern sehr gut geschmeckt. Wir fanden das Personal sehr nett, und das Essen wurde schnell serviert. Es ist eines der besten veganen Restaurants in Hamburg. Die Cocktails und das Dessert kann ich nur empfehlen.

Fand das Essen bisschen ernüchternd. Für 14,50 Euro bestellte ich eine Bowl und weil ich Chili nicht vertrage wählte ich statt der Chili-Knoblauchsoße eine andere. Die Bowl bestand aus Reisnudeln, paar Erdnusssplitter, einem Salatblatt und einem Hauch von 3-4 anderer Zutaten - und hier meine ich einen Hauch. Die gesamte Bowl komplett ungewürzt, wirklich gar nicht. Kein Salz, keine Kräuter - nichts! In einer mini Schüssel bekam ich dazu etwa 1 EL Sojasoße (statt der Chili-Knoblauchsoße). Ein Tropfen auf den heißen Stein bei einer komplett ungewürzten, soßenlosen Bowl. Ich bat um mehr Sojasoße und bekam nochmal einen EL voll. Daraufhin bat ich nochmal um Sojasoße und bekam tatsächlich mejr, allerdings war in dieser Sojasoße Chili(stücke)... Die Bowl braucht dringend eine adäquate Menge einer aromatischen Soße. Sowas kann ich mir zuhause besser zubereiten. Werde nicht nochmal hingehen.

We had the pleasure of eating at Citta and it was a wonderful experience! As vegans, we were amazed by the variety of delicious and creative vegan options on the menu. The food was simply amazing – every bite was a delight. We would particularly like to emphasize the excellent service. We received an extremely friendly welcome upon our arrival, and the service staff was attentive and courteous throughout our entire visit. We felt very welcome. We can only warmly recommend Citta and are already looking forward to our next visit!

Large variety of vegan dishes. Great arrangement. We had about 10 different dishes and almost all of them tasted very, very good. Can be highly recommended.

I tried the lunch menu here. I ordered “Bun Nem”. First there was a small soup. After a reasonable wait, the main course arrived. The food was well portioned. Unfortunately, the fried spring rolls were tough in some places and the dough was a bit thick. Other than that it was very tasty.

Excellent large bowls and delicious drinks, very friendly and quick service, value for money! A bit dark inside but tastefully decorated. I have no idea why there were only a few guests there last night. Any time!

The ambience is quite nice, but the service is not. The menu offers filtered tap water - you couldn't tell me how the water is filtered, whether with reverse osmosis or Brita or something else. I didn't eat there.

Pleasant atmosphere, attentive service, delicious food and delicious drinks. The sake and the Golden Buddha are highly recommended.

Some of the best vegan food I've had (and I've been vegan for 30 years). Very satisfying. I eat there every night I was in Hamburg.

My go-to for delicious healthy (& vegan) food. The portions are great and they have great sides (small dishes like tapas) that you can combine. Lovely 🤙🏽

Just beautiful. Fair lunch/student offer, friendly staff, great facilities, quick, fresh preparation and, above all, fantastic taste. The dishes have authenticity with a twist and there is something for everyone. The fact that no living beings suffer because of this is the icing on the cake! Edit: I can only reconfirm my resection after two years. Plus, this time there was an incredibly nice service employee who made the evening perfect!

The food was excellent and the prices reasonable. We sat outside (20:30) and were told repeatedly that the outside area will be closed soon (= 21:30). We were made to hurry with our order. I expected that we could simply move inside when it was time to close the outdoor space (the inside of the restaurant was empty). We were not offered this option, but instead hurried into 'finishing up'. I was not a fan of this, but the food itself was quite good.

Super super delicious. A very pleasant atmosphere in a chic restaurant. The food was very fresh and tasty. Detox Green was extremely tasty and refreshing. We were very well looked after there. Ms. Thu was super nice and friendly with us. Vegan is a plus. I can only recommend Citta.

We had reservations here with 20 people and everything worked out so far. The Citta is in a good location, directly opposite the Abaton cinema. We were warmly greeted and shown to our seats. Very nice and stylish atmosphere. However, we had to wait a long time until someone came to take drinks. Unfortunately there were only small water bottles and we had to reorder endlessly. A while later the glasses were added and the first bottles had already been emptied. The food also took a very long time. The restaurant was well attended and the service staff did their best. When we had finished the starter and main course, we decided to have a dessert, unfortunately there were only three to choose from, including vegan ice cream, but unfortunately the ice cream was sold out. Some would have liked to have an espresso or a cappuccino, but unfortunately the machine was broken... The food was very tasty and appetizingly prepared, especially the small starters, which were amazing. There were two hand basins in the women's toilet, but only one tap. Another visitor and I were puzzling, so we shared the one. Otherwise kept very clean. Overall we liked it, but the service still needs some improvement.

In contrast to Citta Osterstraße, the food here is always perfect. Unfortunately, one star is lost due to the fluctuation in the quality of the drinks: if you're lucky, the drinks are as good as the other Citta on Osterstrasse, if not better (the Shiso sour is addictive). If you're unlucky, which is unfortunately too often the case, you definitely won't get what you drank on your lucky day. I have had this experience often enough as I regularly visit this restaurant because of the good food. In addition, the schedule here is a little stricter than in Osterstrasse, here you have to leave after 1 to 1 1/2 hours - even if there are still many tables available and you would still like to order something. Depending on who you're dealing with, the service can sometimes be too cold and disinterested. The atmosphere is really very nice and cozy. My recommendation: eat in Citta Grindelhof, enjoy drinks in Citta Osterstraße, especially if the time together can be a little longer than 1 hour. With the 5 bus you can go from door to door in just a few minutes!

All in all, I liked it and would like to come back or recommend the store to others.

Callous Service and disrespectful employees. They used artificial flavors for the soup which tasted really bad. The most horrible restaurant experience ever....

The food was excellent - we chose the restaurant because our companion wanted an exclusively vegan restaurant. And we were all thrilled - great choice of food. However, at the beginning we were given a longer list of dishes that could not be ordered - and there were quite exciting dishes, such as okra skewers, that we would have loved to try. The service was borderline and loveless. After the first drinks and food were served, no more service staff were seen at our table. At the beginning we were made aware that the table would be available for 1.5 hours - so far so good. But after 1 hour and 10 minutes we were presented with the bill. It's a real shame - mediocre or bad service can sometimes ruin the evening, even if the food is tasty.

Very tasty food, good prices, nice decor. Unfortunately you only reserve the table for 2 hours, you get the information on site that the table is only available for 1.5 hours. At the beginning we waited about 30 minutes for service... so if you want delicious food then it's definitely worth it, but unfortunately it's not possible for a nice dinner with friends.

The vegan tapas are incredibly delicious. Spicy edamame is highly recommended, as are the king oyster mushrooms, spring rolls, fried avocado...everything is great!

Very tasty vegan food. Very reasonably priced. If the restaurant isn't too busy, it's super quick. The quality of the food is at a high level.

I'm not usually a vegan... but I would always like to go here again. Except for the tofu, which seems a bit leathery, the food is delicious! And the (boss?) is in a good mood and garnishes the requested photos with her selfie. That's what atmosphere is all about... humor 🙋‍♂️👍🥳😅

Sastified, comfortable and highly recommend! The food was truly delicious and hot, making me feel sastified. The staff were friendly and I did not have to wait long for my food. Just one point, the restaurant is far from my home, but I think its worth to try it. I will definitely come back again with my family

The concept was implemented with extremely high quality and using fresh ingredients. This concept exists more often in HH, but not with as much attention to detail and product. We will be back.

An absolutely beautiful dining experience! The ambience was calm, cozy and aesthetically great! The food was fantastically tasty and the portions were excellent for sharing between two! The service was absolutely friendly and together we had a hearty and cosmic funny chat! We'll definitely go here again and I've been recommending it since we were there! ♥️

Had reservations, but unfortunately they forgot. The table was only prepared when we were there. Bad parking options. Service was sparse, but we wanted to order more.

It's going ok. The ambience is successful, although the entrance area with the bar tables doesn't look very inviting. Unfortunately, our table was only dimly lit, so to speak only by the lamps of the two neighboring tables. Eating went like this. You can't cook eggplants, you can only braise them. Maybe it would work with the Asian ones, but not with the classic ones. Also: An Asian restaurant that doesn't serve chilies (neither fresh nor dried) seems strange. However, the sauce was nicely seasoned. Service is tried hard.

This was my second time at citta Vegan and unfortunately the service was disappointing both times. The food was good, especially the massaman curry, but we were told we only had an hour left to eat. The bill was brought to us without asking on the grounds that the next guests were already waiting. There were at least 5 other tables free and no “expected guests” in sight. We felt very unwelcome.

We were all thrilled on our first visit. I will definitely come back often. The wabi-sabi absolutely convinced me, but I'm also very excited to try the other dishes. Friendly welcome. The service was perfect, very friendly, professional, detailed explanations when asked. Japanese green tea is rather lukewarm and tastes very tasty. After eating we were able to sit undisturbed and when we asked, paying (individually) was lightning fast. Even though the store was full, we didn't have to wait long for food or service and our order was taken very relaxed. We didn't have a reservation and were very lucky to spontaneously get a table on Saturday evening. The restaurant is very lovingly furnished and has a pleasant atmosphere. The prices are absolutely reasonable. So, clear recommendation based on a visit. Second visit: This time in a group of ten. Consistently positive impressions. Only the lack of vegan ice cream at the moment has disappointed some people. Sticky rice doesn't appeal to everyone as a dessert. I think the idea is very nice that for 4.50 p.p. unlimited filtered tap water.

The food is great & the interior is uniquely decorated. But 3 stars for the 1.5 hour reservation spots, this is too short, honestly 2 hrs is reasonable…

The food & atmosphere is wonderful. However one of the waitresses is extremely unpleasant & rude (28.01 @ 14 pm) .. it ruins the experience of the food sadly.

Amazing vegan food with a twist and many different flavours! Would totally recommend. The decoration of the place is also beautiful.

Schien nett zu sein aber leider hat es 45min gedauert bis unsere Bestellung überhaupt aufgenommen wurde. Mussten uns selber die Menüs holen und mehrmals rufen bis jemand endlich Zeit für uns hatte. Keine Entschuldigung, nicht sehr freundlich eher überfordert und nicht mal ein Lächeln. Sehr schade... Stellt bitte mehr Leute ein und schult die besser. Essen war ok, lohnt sich aber nicht dafür ein Umweg zu machen.

Eines der besten veganen Restaurants in dem ich je gewesen bin. Die Qualität der Gerichte ist hervorragend. Die gegrillte Aubergine ist ein Traum. Ich werde definitiv wieder kommen!

Das Essen hatte uns eigentlich gut gefallen - beim ersten Besuch. Inzwischen scheinen sie gut nachfragt. Was leider direkt auf die Servicefreundlichkeit durchschlägt: schnippisch, desengagiert, bis hin zu explizit unfreundlich. Wir sind dann gegangen - wurde in einem anderen Restaurant gut gelaunt versorgt..

Tolles Lokal, unglaublich freundliche Bedienung. Das Essen war lecker und das Ambiente sehr angenehm. Auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert wenn man in der Ecke ist. Am Wochenende auf jeden Fall einen Tisch reservieren. Wir waren anfangs der Woche da und es war ziemlich voll.

My first impression when entering the restaurant was peace and warmth in my soul. I love how they decorated each item there. They are very detailed and delicate, fully expressing the meaning of "citta”. Thanks to the staff, I know “citta” means “mind”, so I actually enjoyed the moment here. About the food, we go by group of 5 people so I tried a lot of dishes here. It's super nice, hot and truly delicious. I love these dishes, especially the eggplant, Japanese beans and spring rolls. The staffs are friendly. I will definitely come back again

Das Essen ist wirklich großartig und das Ambiente auch sehr nett und genau deshalb sind wir auch immer gekommen - allerdings war ich vom letzten Besuch jetzt etwas irritiert. Wir wurden um 21.15 Uhr nach einer letzten Runde gefragt und haben noch zwei Cocktails bestellt (weil die hier ebenfalls sehr lecker sind!), diese kamen dann nach knapp 10 Minuten. Um kurz vor 22 Uhr wurden wir dann gefragt, ob wir gerne eingeschlossen werden wollen, weil sie jetzt schließen (Die Frage fand ich schon etwas seltsam...) Natürlich waren unsere Cocktails noch nicht leer und das "grelle" Licht war ebenfalls schon eingeschaltet: wir sollten also gehen! Ein bisschen unglücklich, wenn man eine halbe Stunde vorher noch seine Drinks bekommen hat, die man für den Preis ja auch nicht runterkippen möchte. Auf Nachfrage bekamen wir dann zumindest etwas für "2 go" - wenn auch nur eine Suppenschale. Das geht besser und kundenorientierter, wir können daher leider nur drei Sterne geben. Essen 2 go werden wir aber vielleicht noch mal machen.

Tja, drei Jahren nicht im Grindelviertel gewesen und wollte eigentlich ins Arkadasch. War in Gedanken und habe erst drinnen gemerkt, nicht im Arkadasch zu sein. Bin definitiv kein Veganer. Trotzdem hat es mir sehr gut gefallen. Sehr gutes Essen. Immer wieder gerne!

Ich esse selten Vegan. Aber wenn, dann da. Extrem frisch und lecker. Man merkt richtig, dass man seinem Körper was gutes tut. Aufmerksamer Service. Netter Außenbereich. Die frischen Säfte schmecken sehr. Gerne wieder

Asiatische Küche, Vegan. Reichhaltiger Mittagstisch.

Waren mit 11 Personen da. Dabei war unsere Gruppe bunt gemischt ( alles Esser, Vegetarier, Veganer) von 9 bis 76 Jahren. Wir haben uns durch die Menükarte durchprobiert und es hat jeder für sich etwas sehr leckeres gefunden. Die vielen Saucen zu Gerichten, der Tropical Tee, Golden Buddha Cocktails und die Jackfrucht Keulen, sowie Avocado- Hälften im Teigmantel waren mit die Highlights. Dankeschön an das sehr freundliche Team von Citta Izakaya, wir haben uns sehr wohl bei Euch efühlt. Kommen sicher wieder. Weiter so.

Essen und Interior waren super. Leider war die Bedienung nicht sehr freundlich, sie hat sehr gehetzt und war sehr schnipisch mit ihren Antworten - das hat bei uns kein gutes Gefühl geweckt.

Die Speisen (Auberginen, Bowl) waren frisch zubereitet, wobei die Frühlingsrollen und der frittierte Tofu sehr fettig waren. Die Servicekräfte wirken genervt, nicht besonders freundlich und sie waren unflexibel. So wollten sie z.B. keine frisch gepresste Zitrone oder Limette bringen, weil dies Arbeit mache und der Limettensaft in Mischung mit Zucker vorbereitet sei. Die Einrichtung des Lokals ist gemütlich.

Mega lecker. Tolle Auswahl. Top Service.

Immer wieder ein Veganer Genuss der hier erlebt werden kann. Ich freue mich jedesmal wenn ich hier essen kann.

Die Einrichtung und die Atmosphäre ist sehr schön, sehr angenehm, es ist sehr sehr sauber. Preis Leistung ist top. Die Gerichte schmecken sehr gut. Die Hausgemachten Getränke sind sehr lecker. Statt große Bowls/Hauptspeisen zu bestellen würde mehrere kleine Bowls zu leckeren Getränken bestellen für den perfekten Izakaya Abend mit Freunden:)

Eins meiner absoluten Lieblingsrestaurants. Wunderschönes Ambiente, nettes Personal und leckeres Essen. Hier gibts auch die besten Bao Buns! Unbedingt mitbestellen

Egal ob Mittagstisch (Preis-Leistung👍) oder Abendkarte; das Essen ist einfach mega lecker! Keine 08/15 Salate und alles super frisch. Dazu ist die Bedienung noch sehr freundlich. Was will man mehr? Okay, die Außenplätze sind nicht optimal (an der Straße/viele Fußgänger), das ist an dem Ort anders aber wohl auch nicht zu machen. Dennoch eine klare Empfehlung!

Tolles Restaurant mit gemütlichen Tischen und entspannter Atmosphäre. Das Essen kam super schnell, fast zeitlich mit den Vorspeisen, was einen Punkt Abzug gab. Die Bedienung war super nett und freundlich.

Toller Mittagstisch für 10,90€ mit "Bowl" (z.B. Udon Teriyaki) + Suppe/Salat. Großer Außenbereich am Grindelhof. Sehr freundlicher Service. Optimal wäre es wenn die Vorspeise ein paar Minuten vor dem Hauptgericht kommt, aber schnell waren sie... 😉

Ich kann das Restaurant nur empfehlen, das Essen ist super lecker!

This was the first time I’ve been here and honestly the flavors were delicious. We had two different set menus (I believe they were only for lunch) and they both were great. I am not a vegan, which normally a vegan restaurant is a no go for us carnivores :) but this was worth it, and I’d do it again. However, I was not a fan of their service; the lady at the cash (which was the only person I saw) was either not feeling ok, unhappy, or just didn’t feel like working today, which I could understand, but still not acceptable, and probably should’ve been given a day off rather than reflect it to the customers. Nevertheless, I would still go back for the food, as it was tasty, fulfilling, and fairly priced.

We just spontaneously came in when it was raining outside and it was hands down the best vegan dining experience I've had in a long time ( i am not a vegan, but I like eating vegan once a week ). The atmosphere was cozy and intimate, with a warm and welcoming ambiance. The female staff was friendly and helpful, but there were just two of them there so she was quite busy. But the real standout of the evening was the food. The vegan dishes at Citta were simply outstanding, with a wide variety of flavors and textures that kept my taste buds guessing and my stomach happy. definitely will come back again soon
